The gun is northwest of the ship at (36:27). Once you have looted the flare gun, you will be jumped by a Zin'jatar Scout who says: I sssaw you leaving that ssship, sssoftsskin! Sssoon we sshall have you all!. Go back to the ship to hand it in.

When you hand this quest in one of the Hellscream's Vanguard yells: The naga! They've followed <name> back to the ship!. A Zin'jatar Scout will then appear and yell: Sssoftsskinss! Sssoon you shall ssserve my Lady!. Nazgrim then charges the scout, and kills it. He then hands you the quest Blood and Thunder!, before charging off with all the other Orcs to fight..

I think this quest is bugged for me. I pick the quest up from Nazgrim and it tells me to speak to Nazgrim, no mention of a Flare Gun. When I speak to him he has nothing to offer. I have found the gun but can't pick it up as it is non-interactive. Weird.

OK, don't need to go and find the Flare Gun as stated. You pick up the quest and another copy of Nazgrim appears just behind you, go speak to him to end quest and receive Blood and Thunder, it is after the mass fight that you get carted off by the Zin'jatar Scout. Simples.

In order to getPay Attention! you must completeGirding Our Loins before acceptingHelm's Deep.
Better Late Than Dead andThe Abyssal Ride are NOT needed to takeGimme Shelter! and followups, however that would make you unable to getGood Deed Left Undone.
Lady La-La's Necklace have 0% drop chance beforeOphidophobia done and 100% after, however anyone can share you this quest as long as you are 80+lvl.
Anyone can takeVengeful Heart and do it's followups as long as they are 80+lvl. Quests above are NOT needed for it.

This quest bugged for me - I was unable to hand it it. To fix it I abandoned the quest and then picked it up again - worked like a charm

doing this during the Dragonflight prepatch bugged out and wouldnt let me turn in after Nazgrim killed his naga. Abandoning it would not work after 3 tries. I had to swim all the way from the horde ship to the alliance ship where they start, and back again to get it to finally take.

ETA: I feel compelled to add credit for this goes to my wife who accidentally swam that far before I had her go back, and miraculously it worked. But - she has no wowhead account so Im shamelessly stealing the reputation votes.
