I (Frost Mage) did this with a Prot Tank, Feral Druid, Holy Priest, and Sanakan of DnT (I believe Fury). It was NOT easy and came down to the wire.

The fight is 2 phased with the 1st phase being a simple tank-n-spank on some guy named "Kaylaan". He will heal himself, but it can be counter spelled or kicked or whatever. Phase 2 is where you fight the main guy "Socrethar". He is tanked by High Priestess Ishanah from Shattrath. He will do several things, but nothing horribly overbearing to wipe you without knowing about it.

You cannot heal the NPCs so this is mainly about killing Socethar as fast as possible without pulling aggro. Don't do this without a serious 5 man group.

That ports you to 31, 18 which after a few nonelites, you fight Socrethar and Kaylaan.

Just did this quest with a warlock and rogue (me). The first guy is a pushover, just dps and kick him at 50% when he heals. Stunlock and the NPCs will help you. Heal up and for the second part of the fight, just banish the dude every 30 seconds and let the NPC heal herself. She'll run out of mana at about 20%-10% of his health, so you gotta be on the ball here to DPS/Banish him accordingly. Took about 20 minutes, but we did it!

Tried to do this quest with two lvl 70 rogues. Started fine, we burned the first guy down to about 30% and Socrethar yeled something like "Finish them, young one" at which point Kaylaan ran back to stand next to Socrethar and was an 'invalid target' for all attacks. out of the 3 NPC's that start with you, two died. Only Adyen survived..so that might have something to do with it.

Do with two lvl 70 ( Rogue and hunter). We 've had the advantage of our alliance: one Aldor and one scryer. The add of the two faction's quests made us down the boss in less than three minute (for all event).

Just tried to do it. 2 Aldor NPCs and the 2 bosses just stood there, unattackable. Might have been broken by someone else's attempt, but either way it couldn't be attempted.

After many weeks of being bugged virtually every time I have came out to do it. I FINALLY completed this quest last night. It seems the only requirement to the quest is have the High Preistess survive. I flew out to Island where the demon is and a horde group was doing the quest (I'm a Dwarf Paladin). I decide to lend a hand and to my surprise once the big guy died I got credit for the event. I'm sure this is bugged but enjoy it while you can!

Yesterday, I done it with mixed group (aldor and scryers quest) : no problem, the 3 NPC come and help us to kill the 2 bosses.

Done in one shot with 1 mage, 2 druid, 1 warlock and 1 shaman

I actually finished this outside of the group that tagged it! I was farming the mobs around the boss for Marks and Fel Arms and decided to help a group doing it just for the heck of it, and it ended up completing my quest!! I died fighting Socreth but they were nice enough to rezz my after. : )

The teleportation stone still remains in my inventory after i completed the quest, i did 99% of all quests and have not found any other use for it, so unless you want it for the fun of teleporting its safe to delete.

Just did it (23.02.07 EU server Kul Tiras) with 1 Paladin, 2 mages and 1 Warlock and me Hunter, all lvl 70. One of the Mages critted Socrethar little over 8k, so it appears he has a weakness in fire spells. And by the way, we wiped on the first try and we went in try again the NPCs where all there back. The Warlock for some reason could not talk to NPC to start the quest, but I could. All went well and we got him, almost thought the quest bugged when the High Priestess spawned, but no.

What'd you do to get the GM to reset it for you? When I put my ticket in, GM I spoke with basically gave me the same ol' same ol'... He instructed me to drop the quest and retake it... so hauled back to Shatt, and then back to Netherstorm... yah, still, non-aggroable... quest still busted.

Done it twice correctly, and the shit bugs. GM's? "Not working as intended", at least they confess, but that ain't good enough, since not even they can reset the event. Pathetic.

This quest is still partially bugged, but my group still did it and wow it's almost 2mannable!

We got to the place and the NPC's weren't moving and one guy said if we pulled a mob to the NPC's and had the NPCs go to the boss then it starts, well it did! The NPCs died very quickly beacuse we were unable to attack but as soon as they died, we could. And I usually get 1600 backstabs, but on him I was getting 6k backstabs, this guy went down so fast so just pull a mob up to the npcs, have the npcs kill the mob near the bosses and the event works out. After Socrethar(sp?) dies it gives completion for the Aldor quest, not sure on Scryer but noone said they didn't get credit.

I suppose it doesn't hurt to try, but this quest bugged out on our group as well. Pulling mobs over to the npcs didn't work for us, and the GM I talked to said that he couldn't reset it, along with giving the whole "we're aware of this issue... blah, blah" spiel.

More power to you, if you can get it to work. I guess I'll have to look somewhere else for a pally tanking belt for now.

3manned him: Paladin Mage Rogue. I, the rogue, tanked. Vorenthal's presence made the fight doable. Don't think you need a "serious five man group" if you've got a good healer and dps. We walked into this thinkin a wipe was certain, but found it to be a standard drawn-out boss fight.

The first time I tried to complete this quest it was bugged, so I submitted a ticket. The GM that responded about 30 minutes later not only reset the instance and apparently stayed to watch us complete it, he also left my ticket open and fixed the Nexus-king encounter for us. Wish I could remember his name... :( :(

I'm not sure why so many folks are having problems with the GMs. Maybe it's because there are different levels of GMs??

Duo'd by me (Vile 70 Lock) and Question (70 Priest) on Ysera. Dont let Kaylaan heal at 50% and keep an eye on high priestess during second battle and when she gets low on health chain banish Socrethar until she heals herself to 80 or 90%. took us about 15 minutes to do.

Two maned with a feral druid and combat rogue.
One Aldor and 1 scryer so the combo of item and priestess was perfect. Pulled off 8k evis crits and lost about 1k hp. Easiest fight ever

there is a similar quest line for people friendly with the Scryers, and the last part of the quest line has the same objective, to kill Socrethar. Im wondering if you can do this quest with a mixed group of Scryers and Aldor, and still complete the quest for everyone at the same time. I would think you would be able to, but you never know

Do NOT forget to talk to Isa after the fight is done. After my group downed Socrethar I thought I was done.

You do not get the "Complete" status until after you talk with the NPC.

And it has to be after the fight, before she despawns. I tried going to see her in Shattrath but no luck, can't complete until I find another group and do it all over again.

We did it with 4 lvl 70's, Prot Warrior, Holy Priest, Frost Mage, Marksman Hunter. We had some minor mana issues but it could have been worse if our DPS didnt bandage twice each during the fight. We forgot to distribute food and water so I had to use my undersporepod to regen my mana. Didnt bother doing it twice because he was below 10% health by then.

my advice is try find someone who is scryer to do this with because they have an item which increases the damage you do him. we did this with two rogues and a lock (the lock drain tanked) and it was really easy. only the other rogue was aldor and we didnt have to do the first part.

One thing to duo it, but another to grab 5 random folk and get it done cakewalk.

Group composition:

Fury Warrior,
Combat Sword Rogue (http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Lightbringer&n=Xyana),

Marksman Hunter (http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Lightbringer&n=Novus),
Retribution Pally.

2 useful tips:

1. Meatshield + Bear = 7 sec aggro lead for both Bosses. Bear initializes aggro managment. Meatshield stays high on threat.
2. Dps stay on angles behind the boss for both fights. Use cooldowns @ 75% of both fights. Repeat as available.

2 must-do procedures:

1. Salvation on all dps players, except for fury warrior. All players must be focused on watching & stopping the castings of both bosses - aka: interrupt/stun/kick/etc.
2. Remember to watch for group members health levels that fall below 35%. Use self healing (pots, bandages, etc.) before asking for a heal.

Simple protocol for a pretty fun scripted fight. Enjoy the show and the quest rewards.

this was easy, the group i had was Prot/Ret Pally, Hunter (me), and holy priest, the one problem was that since we killed both of them on the first attempt we did not know what was going to happen after the Kaylaan healed himself but we saw the heal and interupted it, the one problem was the fight with Socrethar, we did not know it would take that long so we ended up having the preist oom at about 10% lol but the pally used hammer of wisdom and that helped a bit, the best part was after we watched a group of horde, (all 5) wiped on the first attempt, hehe

Me and some guildies just did this quest and we didnt have to do a single thing. We watched another group doing the quest and after they downed the boss me and my guildies got credit for completing the quest and all we did was hang out and watch.

I just did this with a fury warrior with tanking gear on. I was quite surprised how easily I could keep on healing the warrior as a Holy Paladin. Still it took us 20 minutes to get it to 70%, so finally a guildie could help us out and then it took us still another 10 minutes.

However this doesn't require 5 people, as long as you have a healer with decent mana regen.

Bugged out today for my group. We defeated Kaylaan and he kneeled down by Socrethar. Immediately after, the friendly aldor NPCs aggroed Socrethar and we were unable to aid them. We couldn't attack Socrethar! Unsure of how it happened but someone in our group said they might've stepped out of the circle. We waited a good 20 minutes after the friendly NPCs were killed by Socrethar and Kaylaan was still spawned in his defeated kneeling position. The friendly NPCs were back in their starting position and we tried again. When Socrethar introduced Kaylaan the fight bugged out again and no new Kaylaan appeared. This stopped the event from continuing.

In typical blizzard fashion, no GM showed up after a good long wait and we said we'd try it another day.

It's lovely that this awesome pally tanking belt is essentially available only to Alliance paladins, as Horde only has blood elves, who default to being friendly to Scryers and hated by the Aldor. Go blizz.

Ok.. the full story would be,
3 Aldor NPCs spawn, and you tell one of them that "I'm ready."

NPCs will proceed to Socrethar. They will start talking, after a while Kaylaan will spawn and Socrethar will cast a spell on him and make him fight us.

Kaylaan will cast "Heal" when he is low on HP, can be interrupted. Just simply take him down.

Soon after, Ishanah will spawn and start talking again.
Ishanah and the other 2 Aldor NPCs will attack Socrethar, and the main point is, Ishanah will be tanking Socrethar.
Socrethar will cast a "fireball" spell which is an AoE, avoid this by attacking it from behind or ranged. Also a "Shadowbolt Volley" but this can be interrupted, and you better interrupt it if you dun have a healer in group.

Ishanah is an uber tank and she can heal herself, there are more than one way to do this without a full group -

1. A warrior taunts Socrethar with shield wall when Ishanah is about to die. So she will have time to heal back to about 80%.

2. Shaman lays Earth Elemental Totem, same function as a warrior, being a soap :p

3. Warlock's banish.

afterall, it's a DPS fight.

One more point to add in, Scyers have the same quest on killing Socrethar, which they will have an item to weaken Socrethar(damage done lowered by 3/4 & damage taken increased by 400%).
Combining the Aldor NPCs with Scryers' weakening buff.
You can certainly auto-attack on Socrethar and go for a sleep.. lol

totally solo-able with a shadow priest. just use the debuff item (im scryer rep) and throw VE+VT and watch as huge pretty numbers fly out all over the place. almost died a few times but crits helped restore most of my mana and health back up. try to keep pw:s up all the time and keep using mind blast every time the CD is up. be careful with sw:d!

This quest is still having some issues for Aldor characters, but one major thing is that you *DO NOT* have to do the event to still get credit in the Aldor version. If the quest bugs up for you, call a GM and have them reset Socrethar, but instead of doing the event just kill Socrethar. Easy way to avoid the bug with Ishanah not continuing the event.

We where four to do this, one of us had the scryer version wich made him very vulnerable (som kind of debuff on they could put on him). This made it very easy. I critted more than 8000 with a frostbolt (normaly about 2500).

While trying to get a group on LFG, I watched as a group of Allies killed him. Then I noticed a yellow ? after the fight. Speak to the lady, complete quest. Voila. I'm lovin' it!

This quest was a cakewalk with me (70 holy priest) and my 70 warlock friend. The lock was Scryers and I was Aldor, we didn't even start this "event" everyone talks about at all, just ran in and started fighting him ourselves. He used his quest item, I made sure he was healed, and it took no time at all. Just killed Socrethar in a minute or two and then went back to Shatt to turn it in. 5-man quest? Please.

This can be 2-manned if the other is Scyer, the first guy is the hard part, but if someone dies they can run back during the mid-fight event.

On Socrethar have the npcs tank, use the scyer to help burn him down.

this is soo full of crap, i saw this boss and looked it up on wowhead, saw he's part of a questline, rewards were awsome, plate gloves with nice stats + hitrating, suiteable for a DW warrior like me, tried to get the quest but was no where to be found, turns out only SCRYERS get that part of quest and rewards, thanks Blizzard for giving warriors NOTHING usefull here.

I had this quest before 2.3, deleted it to make room for others and cannot seemingly get it back 11/19/07. There is a ticket open on this quest for this reason. Please look for other posts on this thread regarding quest bugs, as it seems this quest is quite buggy. These are the best Feral Shoulders in the game and it will be shame if I can't get them.

confirmed... the group can be mixed. We tried it the scryer way first and wiped. Found it much easier to do this version, if you have any aldors in the group.

Easily completed w/ 69 Shadow Priest & 70 Protection Warrior. Duo'd.
Time to complete: 8 minutes start to finish. The dialog was about just as long as the battle.

The big secret was obviously Aldor/Scryer mix.

The first guy was pretty easy as long as I kept Shield Bash and Concussion Blow up to prevent the healing. It seemed about 20-30% the battle with him is over and he converts to "good" as part of the aldor story line.

When it was Socrethar's turn we used the Scryer quest item to increase damage and let the aldor npc's tank. Priest was on hand to heal after Shadow Volley, but for the most part went DPS. It is worth keeping in mind that he does get a buff to increase shadow resistance and arcane resistance by 100 prior to the battle and the AOE Shadow Volley hit me (509DEF, 13k Armor, No Resistance) for about 1500.

Actually found the first guy a lot harder as he attempted to heal himself twice on me. Once at 48% and once just before he converted back to friendly (about 30%).

I found both NPC's able to be stunned/interrupted.

Completed this quest with ease dual-boxing with a warrior in full arena s2/vets and a resto druid with around +1500 healing gear.

Could not have been more simple and that's after me failing to interrupt the heal during phase one....twice! You get time to rest and drink after the first part of the fight, so my druid was full on mana by the time the second phase started.

Pitched a few heals to the NPC tanking (she heals herself mostly) and dps'ed with the warrior for several minutes. The AoE was trivial so keeping both the warrior and druid topped off required nothing more than an occassional Lifebloom.

I'd say this is easy to do with one solid DPS and pretty much any kind of healer. NPCs do almost all of the work.

Quest is still bugged on the Argent Dawn realm. Kaylaan respawned in front of Soc, in the kneeling postion, aldor npcs are in front of them both.

This quest is pretty easy once you get the hang of things, as long as you have a healer by your side. Should you however fail and wipe, just wait approx 3-5 mins then reuse the teleporter and the NPCs should respawn and you can try again.
Remember that both Kaylaan and Socrethar are stunable.

Did this with 2 tier 5 hunters. Just pull him all the way off the platform out in the open (clear a path on one side first ). Kite him back and forth between the two of you, when you run out of mana or room to run, FD+drink and have your buddy pick it up. rinse/repeat (took about 10-15 min btw)

Once he died, got complete on the quest, no funny bugs or events.

For those who just flew straight to the seat without using the teleporter:
you can use the teleportation stone at the seat of socrethar aswell. This will also cause the aldor mobs to spawn.

Duo'd as a Prot paladin (myself) with a resto shaman. Took about 10 minutes but all we did is kept all the helpers up and stun when need be. at the last few percent of his health we took out our oathkeepers and finished it. Quite proud of ourselves afterwards.

This was perhaps the easiest quest I have ever completed. I did it by myself and didn't even have to enter combat.

While on my Alliance druid (Aldor), I was looking for a group to do this quest (the proper way). It was taking a while to get responses so I decided to fly up to scout out Socrethar's Seat. I had never been up there and wanted to see what I was up against. As it turns out, there was a horde group about to kill Socrethar so I decided to watch the battle. I lowered down a bit (in flight form) and watched them fight. To my surprise, when they killed Socrethar, I got a "Quest Complete" message on my screen. I simply hearthed back to Shattrath and was able to turn in quest to Ishanah.

It's possible to do this quest without really doing anything but showing up at the right time. My advice for those who can't get a group, explore the area and try to take advantage of another group doing this fight. It sure helped me out. Easiest quest I've completed in a long time! Good luck.

Here what I did. I had a group of a few people, but everyone was aldor and not strong enough to handle it as-is. I happen to have a hunter alt that's scryer and havent' finished the quest yet. So being clever, I brought the hunter and use the item that makes him take a lot more dmg and we finished very easily. Then I relogged shaman right after thinking to just talk to the guy and finish the quest as others here have reported.

Didn't work.

Either it's been changed so you actually have to be in the killing group, or at the very least you need to be there on the character close by when the kill happens.

As a small note, one of the pvp specced mages did 20k crit frostbolts.

Somewhat easy solo for a protection warrior.

I finished the quest with a friend of mine just by killing him normally (me tanking him and her healing me, took around 20 minutes)

However, I looked the quest up and saw that if I used the teleporter we get an event, and I wanted to know what happened. My friend had already logged off, so I figured I would see how far I could get.

I started the event, and right off the bat the female caster npcs died on the trash because she decided to stand in their flame wave. I continued anyway, and once the time came to fight Kaylaan I let the npcs tank as much as they could and taunted to let them heal. Alas, I could not drop aggro and tanked him the whole time, more then enough to have them both heal to full.

Anyhoo, Kaylaan dropped pretty fast with the npcs added dps and the time came for Socrethar. Basically, I kept thunderclap and demoralizing should on him, as well as full sunders for more damage. I also used Concussion Blow to stun him and disarm to, well, disarm him. She hovered around 45% for a good 75% of his health, and started to die once her mana got low. I decided it was time to tank him and threw up a taunt, shield wall, popped trinkets and items, and lasted until the npcs could take him down.

Summary: Stun, slow, and weaken him as much as possible as well as boosting the npcs damage and he can be solo'd.

Duoed by a rather poorly geared feral druid and a shadow priest, druid being Scryer and priest being Aldor.

The hard part is the traitor which you have to fight first in the Aldor event. We wiped a few times, but came up with a strategy that worked like a charm:

He only starts healing at 50% hp, and you only have to get him down to about 30%. That means that at 50% you should start zerging him down. From 100% to 50% we simply healed the NPC's and tried to stay alive and conserve mana. At about 52% the druid got ready to use Feral Charge to interrupt his first heal. Priest popped Shadowform, Shadowfiend and trinket and druid went cat form and zerging began. I don't recall him trying to heal again, but if he did, the druid shifted into bear form and used either Feral Charge or Bash. The traitor cannot be feared, but he can be stunned and interrupted.

Socrethar himself was a piece of cake. Druid used the item to increase damage done to him, rest was tank and spank.

Duo'ed this quest with me (70 Hunter) and a Resto Shammy. Aldor side made it take a while to get the first side down with only me as dps. Viper Sting managed to get him oom stopping his heals. The main guy was easy after this.

Potentially easy to solo as a Warlock. Don't start the event, just fly to the island and Banish bomb Socrethar to death.

That said, it was easier with the event and a healer to help - just have your felhound interrupt Kaylaan's heal and the rest is easy money, especially if the healer happens to be Scryer.

I was able to solo this as a feral druid with the new 3.0.2 talents. He is stunabble and snareable and stops to cast three different spells (shield, barrage and volley), giving ample time to heal. My mana was strained towards the end. The aldor NPCs did most of the work for me, I just had to stay alive.

I recently did this with a moderately geared demo lock and a moderatel geared prot warrior ( me)
the lock off tanked from the guy with 22k hp and i was soulstoned, i rezzed once, and used up about 5 Heavy netherweave bandages, it went much better than i thought it would.

Again, I was able to solo this as an 80 BM hunter (Aldor), with a cat pet, pet held aggro through most of the fight, but died twice, first time I fd'ed to lose aggro, used heart of the Phoenix to bring pet straight back with full health, and meanwhile Ishanaah held aggro, pet took it back but died again. Second rez and left him on cower while Ishanaah tanked :D (she heals herself quite nicely).

I had to swap between Dragonhawk and Viper and back again, as I ran out of mana.

All the other npc's died.

I'm tidying up missed quest chains and making rep for achievements.

Soloed this as 80 BM hunter with Tenacity Pet. No matter how much your pet has got those tanking talents, it cant take the damage. When your pet goes low hp, call it back and win some time for Mend Pet ticks. After he starts using anti magic shield, and meteor showers, its all easy.

So i thought as a lvl 78 combat rogue i could solo Socrethar w/o the npc ..... well turns out he still hits for 4.5-5k and one evasion is not enough time to eat throught that much health. So I tried it with the npc alot smoother, I havent killed him yet.my biggest problem was that I generated too much threat even while spamming feint and using vanish so i couldnt get a good dps flow going.
Dismantle and kidney shot were my two best friends. I tried a variation to a previous posters taunt strat. By using a 3-5 point kidney shot to help Ishanah gain time to heal her self. dismantle of course helped her last longer. I did die once during the battle and was able to release and fly back on my epic flyer and continue the fight. By then ishanah had enough threat so i could let loose but she didnt have enough health to last the fight. so in the end the npc tanked till they died till it came to me and in the end i got him downto 80k health. I'm gonna try again but i gotta figure out a way to help Ishanah stay alive longer. If anyone other rogue was able to solo this quest I would like to hear how you did it.

You can die in this fight and still not fail
He will go on to attacking the NPCs, and when you get back , he'll still be attacking.

I'm level 80 combat rogue, and 'solo'd it this way. Died twice. In one of them, the main female NPC died, but she was alive again when I got back.
They'll have gained a bit more aggro by the time you get back, so you cna do DPS for a bit longer before getting it back yourself, too

Solo'd as an 80 prot warrior. kinda.
I pulled agro and died when Socrethar still had about 65k hp left. The adds finished him off for me and I still recieved the "quest complete" message. Just hang out and don't release.

NOTE: after teleporting to Socrethar's seat, I had to wait about 20-30 seconds for the adds to spawn. I thought the quest was bugged, then they appeared.

I was able to solo this guys as a Retri Paladin level 80 ofc., with
is great because it lasts for 1 min and has 1 min cooldown so I could just attack, stun with attack some more and then cast , heal, gain mana with wait till there is about 10-15 sec left of the cooldown then attack and do it all over again :D

Solo as 80 Hunter with Beast Mastery tanking specialization using an Ape tank, without Scryers help. Had to resurrect my pet once near the end of the second part, and surprisingly all the Aldor NPC's survived. Pummel was spammed, mend pet was up at all times, and pet tanking talents were chosen. (screenshot if approved). Also, I tried to keep up Viper Sting as much as possible during the first part, because the guy does continue to full heal with his Paladin powers, but once he's out of mana it's over for him. The second part where you actually fight Socrethar was much faster. Never had the chance to get this one done before Wrath opened up. For Aldor!

Socrethas would be soloable as a hunter with first aid. You can kite him around the isle because he's so slow. I got him to 40% without first aid.

totally soloable as a lvl 80 dk, if you have a flying mount it doesn't really matter if you die. I died, ressed at the stormspire, repaired my gear and did some stuff, then i flew back and saw that the npc's were still battling him, i walked in and killed him. quest complete.

soloed as lvl 76 hunter in northrend quest gear mostly, BM specced with warp stalker, first attempt, save for a glitch with the first part of the fight where it restarted, make sure you got enough arrows, and probably wanna just stay in viper for most of the fight, watch out for the pit in the middle messes w/ line of sight for pet heals, pet died 2 times cause of that, he can be stunned so that'll interrupt any spell he's casting, his buff can be removed w/ tranq. shot. Ishanah is a damn good healer =P

Still bugged 3/15/2010.

Used to stone to open portal to flying island. Socrethar was not engageable. 3 NPCs could not be interacted with. Other bad guy was in kneeling position. Nothing to do but GM it and/or abandon it. Seems to not be resetting.

tough 1 to solo. I just solo-ed it as a 70 prot pala, but had a hard time:) hes got alot of hp and does quite some damage even when ur def capped. this is how i've done it: grab aggro, save as much mana as u can. only waste ur mana on holy shield / judgement of wisdom and holy light.. holy shield when he melee attacks u and heal urself when he starts casting. i've used a loh and a runic healing pot in the fight. and ended with 50% hp.
It's definetly doable, but u'll need the assist of the npc's. Tried it first without, but that failed hard. 2bad the npc's dont heal you so your on ur own on that matter:)

Soloed as a 80 aldor disc priest. He has over 300k HP which is a lot for a Level 70. The fight took 10 mins. He hits for 3-4k a hit. Also has a reflect spell that you should avoid dotting him or doing damage when its up. He also has a knock back but it doesn't knock u back very far.

I just solo'd Socrethar for the quest on my level 80 warrior (fury).
Things to watch out for if you solo him as a warrior:
Interrupt shadowbolt volley.
When he does that knockback thing, intercept so he does not channel that aoe meteor spell (he is stunnable).
Finished with 9k/31k hp with commanding shout up and after using enraged regen.
Demoralizing shout takes a couple hundred off his melee swings, which were ~2.2k on me with demo shout (although a lot were parried/ dodged/ missed on me).

Its not easy to solo, but doable. Classes that can heal themselves should have no problem with this. Icc 10/heroic 10/ 25 gear at the time of this posting.

I managed to solo this as an Arcane Mage. Died a couple times burned through gems, evo, mirror image a couple time, but managed to finally down him. Probably took about 15 minutes. I suggest bringing a friend, preferably a Scryer healer.
But it's done and I'm happy.

The event can be skipped if you just leave the Aldors at the teleport stone and directly engage Socretar. I screwed up and did it that way and got the credit for the kill.
So people in a hurry could do it without the event and without the fight against Kaylaan.
Lucky for me before turning it in I read up on wowhead to find out whether I'll need the teleport stone later or could delete it and so learned how the quest is supposed to be. So I just used the teleport stone again and could start over (I think the npcs were *still* there, not sure they'd be there again after a certain time had passed), this time with the whole event. It was worth doing it twice, the story/ dialogues are quite touching. Those Aldor are such noble and good creatures. o_O
Really, don't skip the event even if you could.

"Soloed" as a level 70 Blood DK pvp twink, mostly in epics from BC, ilvl 150. Got him down to about 13%, then was finally killed. The NPC's were still full health so they finished him off and I still got credit for the kill.

Be prepared to use all your defensive CD's and any self healing the minute it is up. If you are tanking class, rotate your cooldowns. You may have a chance to use them more than once like I did. Buff with potions, food, elixirs...anything that can give you an advantage. Would probably be a little easier as a pally, but Blood DK's have nice self healing these days, so I was still able to get it done.

Gave 1100 rep with guild perk for Aldor. As far as that grind goes, every little bit of rep helps...it's a long way to exalted. Still probably a few days until I can complete my twinkiness with Greater Inscription of Warding from Aldor rep. Cause you never know when you're going to need 15 extra stamina. :p

For those now doing this quest for transmog items, in order to acquire these quests you need to be friendly/honored with Aldor and NOT Scryer.

Once you make sure you are able to do Aldor quests you start doing quests that Anchorite Karja gives you until the quest giver Exarch Orelis starts offering you quests. He will offer the three quests or so and choose Sunfury Briefings. Complete this quest until Socrethar's Shadow becomes available from Karja.

Note: If you are unsure of where to become Honored with Aldor go to around the center of Shattrath and find Haggard War Veteran. He will start the chain quest to allow you to choose which opposing faction you wish.

To complete this quest with the least amount of grief:

1. Go to the teleporter at 36,18 and right click your stone,
2. When you are teleported to Socrethar's seat, several Aldor will appear. Tell Adyen you're ready or you will have to fight this bad boy alone; not advisable.
3. The Aldor npc's will lead you to Socrethar. You'll kill a few mobs before you reach him, and then there will be some drama before the final fight. I don't want to spoil it for you, but know that the Aldor npc you'll have to fight doesn't have to be killed. That's a good thing, because he keeps healing himself back to full health.
4. When the final fight happens, let the npc's do the heavy lifting. Just try to stay out of Socrethar's AOE. Good luck!

Maybe nice to know. I soloed this with my level 71 windwalker monk. I died once in that fight, but when u died, just go back through the portal and get back in fight :). It will complete the quest.

I accidently swapped over to Scryers before I had completed this quest,
if you go through the Scryers version of the Netherstorm quest chain to the final quest Turning Point you will get both the Aldor NPCs helping -and- the Scryers debuff item, you will also be able to hand in this quest to a friendly Ishanah even if you are hated with Aldor.

• Accept the quest, Deathblow to the Legion, from Ishanah at coords 24.2, 29.8 (Aldor's Tier, Shattrath City).
• Travel northeast, to Netherstorm, to coords 36.5, 18.4, located in the area northeast of Forge Base Oblivion, and southwest of Forge Base Gehenna.
• Step into the demonic transporter and use the Socrethar's Teleportation Stone, you were provided. This will unlock the portal. Next, click the Portal to Socrethar's Seat, which will transport you to coords 30.6, 17.7.
• Speak with Adyen the Lightwarden (coords: 30.7, 17.4), and select "I'm ready, Adyen."
• Follow Adyen the Lightwarden to coords 29.6, 14.3 while killing Wrath Lord and Hatecryer.
• Watch the dialogue between Socrethar and Adyen the Lightwarden, and then fight a corrupted Kaylaan the Lost, when he turns hostile.
• Soon, Ishanah will arrive and offer to trade places with Kaylaan the Lost. After the dialogue concludes, Socrethar will become killable. Kill Socrethar.
• Turn in the quest to Ishanah (coords 29.6, 13.9).

Soloed as L77 prot paladin in 7.3.5 (post-scaling), with using pretty much every single tool in my arsenal (fist of justice FTW, he can be stunned). Socretar himself took almost 10 minutes even with heirlooms (exc. tank and MH as I level in ret).

I soloed this today on my level 75 Ret paladin. Based off of other comments, I tried to stay out of hit range and used what ranged DPS I had as much as possible, letting the Aldor do the heavy hitting. I did end up dying a few times but was able to fly back to the platform and to keep fighting. As long as the Aldor are still there, the fight continues. Ranged DPS could easily stay in the fight.

Hello! This quest seems to be forever bugged for me. I need some help. It's the last quest I need for Netherstorm. But everytime I show up, even if I wait for another weekly reset, nothing happens. Noone is interactable and the guy I need to kill is also 'orange' instead of a combat-interactable red.

If anyone has an idea please let me know. I've been at this on and off for a couple months...

Edit 22 days later: I finally came to the area and the boss WAS up but the green NPCs weren't. And this time I was able to interact with the guy an kill him.

I have no clue what is going on with this quest or if it was just bad luck all the times I flew up there...
