Strat

This fight is relatively easy and goes through 3 phases.

Phase 1: You start off fighting Varo'then while illidan and tyrande hold off Mannoroth and a stream of demons spawning from a portal. Varo'then has a melee ability that will hit 2 other nearby targets. So range just make sure your not standing by the melee.

Phase 2: Once Varo'then is dead phase 2 starts. Not sure if this part has changed but basically Varo'then drops his weapon and you throw it at Mannoroth. After that attacks on mannoroth have a chance of proccing an arc that does 200,000 damage to mannoroth. During phase 2 dreadlord debillitators will incapacitate Tyrande and the tank will have to pick up the demons constantly flowing through the portals while your dps kill the debillitators. once their dead tyrande will kill all the demons and your dps can go back to killing mannoroth. As mannoroths health lowers more demons will stream out of the portal.

Phase 3: When mannoroth hits about 20% health your tank will have to help tyrande again by picking up all the adds. illidan will give your party a immolation type aura that will damage nearby enemies so don't worry too much about killing the demons as the aura will take care of that for you. Just hold onto them and the healer needs to heal through the damage. The dps will continue dpsing mannoroth till he hits 1% hp. At this point the fight will end and you get to watch alittle segment where malfurion stormrage banishes mannoroth...or kills him whichever one.

Do about 10 million damage to him and he kills Varo'then for you.
Defeating him afterword nets you one of the best achievements in the game, proving you have no say, but you did it anyways: That's Not Canon!

Make sure you click on the sword Varo'then drops before engaging Mannoroth! Otherwise the fight draws on forever. Around 16 minutes and 56 seconds, more precisely...

When the debilitators come out. It helps to stand in Tyrandes little MoonBeam. The extra arcane damage to your attacks kills the demons extremely fast.

Phase 1 is hardest for PUG because there is a fire to stand in and die from. When Tyrande needs help only the two different looking demons channeling on her need to be downed. You never have to even touch any of the other demons. (Pugs love to spend 5+ minutes padding the dmg meters by blowing up the adds)

This is one of those fun bosses that can be almost completely downed without a full group though. I've had ones where I had to two-man it from the point where the general dies onward (and neither of us were healers).

**Pre-fight trick. After you jump on the dragons from beating Queen Azshara, there's no need to sit through the cutscreen each time. Talk to your dragon by right clicking the mount and you can skip ahead.

Strategy for easy kill: This fight is not terribly taxing, but can result in deaths because of poor knowledge of the fight.

1) Attack Varo'then. NOT the big guy (Mannoroth) - he'll heal up if you don't attack the small boss anyway. So it's just wasted time and dps.

2) When Fel Firestorm is being cast, just keep on the move - run around in a circle. They hit fairly hard and can cause deaths easily for people standing in the fire, ahem. They seem to target a player and fall from the sky, much like the first boss in Baradin Hold. So if you start moving as it begins, it will fall where you were one second before. It is easily possible to avoid almost all damage if you are on the move.

3) When Tyrande collapses and the adds mob her, everyone run into the light, get the buff, and then KILL THE TWO ADDS TO THE SIDES (Dreadlord Debilitator). It's amusing (to a point) to watch groups kill wave after wave of the melee adds (they're endless afaik). All you have to do is kill the Debilitators and they will release their glowey thread debuffing Tyrande and you can continue with the fight. **Notes: with the buff, you do ridiculous damage to demons, so even the healer can pop a quick moonfire or something similar and kill them.

4) Throw the sword left behind (right click it) to debuff Mannoroth, then bust him up.

5) To make the fight easier on the tank and do more overall dps, a little placement is worth doing. The adds all stream from a portal to the left of the boss. Have the tank right of the boss (or wherever, doesn't matter too much), have heals stack on the tank, and have range dps stand right behind tank in a direct line from the portal. This way the tank can just dps the boss while cleaving, and he'll pick up all the adds as they stream over him.

For the few of us who do not know who Mannoroth was,

Mannoroth the Destructor was a Pit Lord lieutenant in the Burning Legion and the original architect, along with Kil'Jaeden, of the Orcs corruption on Draenor. By Kil'Jaeden's command Mannoroth, with great reluctance, offered his blood to the orcs. The orc chieftains of Draenor drunk heavily of this blood and it drove them into a blood lusting horde bent on chaos and death. It was then the Orcs wiped out what remained of the Draenei.

Mannoroth would later appear on Kalimdor after the redemption of the orcs. Secretly he bled into a nearby fountain of life corrupting it. Grom Hellscream's forces discovered the defiled well and sensed the power emanating from it. Despite his advisers warnings Grom and his clan drank from the fountain corrupting them once again. In a new bloodrage, the Warsong Clan faught and slaughtered the demi-god Cenarius.

Mannoroth would later fall to the axe Gorehowl and the mace Doomhammer when Grom and his friend Thrall were lured into a trap. Mannoroth easily threw aside Thrall but Grom's vicious attacks cleaved his two-bladed sword in twain and slayed the mighty pit lord, freeing the orcish race.

Mannoroth's armor and bones are strung up to a large twisted tree in Orgrimmar to serve as a memorial.

Side note: on bat mobs prior to boss Tyrande can't hit them : meaning she's not hit capped. During boss fight she runs out of arrows : meaning she still uses ammo. Apparently she behind in gear and patches.

@Ihavenolife: actually for a destruction warlock the best to top the meters here, is to drop Bane of Havoc on the boss and aoe the adds. Everytime you deal damage to the adds (a lot, very often) you also deal damage to the boss (15%). Each of those hits has a change to trigger magistrike.
I usually do around 120k dps in this fight like that.

Warrior's Challenging Shout (AoE taunt) actually makes Mannoroth attack the Warrior and one-two shot him - so do NOT use Challenging Shout anywhere near Mannoroth.

Perhaps blizz fixes this in a later patch.

I dare say noone cares but after a while, during the still active Metamorph buff you change back into a night elf, if you use Ghost Wolf you turn back into the Demon-form. I'm guessing this also works for Druids and their alternate forms but I have not confirmed this myself yet.

Priests: cast Levitate on your party and yourself when you have Illidan's buff to get a squad of awesome looking flying demons.

Ok to START the fight with the two last bosses, Mannoroth and Captain Varo'then, you have to KILL ADDS! First kill the smaller demons. The dude npc will follow u after... Then kill shadowbats, the dude npc will follow you again after... Yea this is lame that if you go straight to the 2 bosses, you wont be able to attack them. Then no-no-no, don't attack Manoroth, attack the Captain varo'then first and when hes dead, you can attack Manoroth... I dont know why it's like that and I wont search why it's like that too! All this is totally stupid, but its like that. Glad and proud to tell my opinion.

The fight seems to reset for no reason. Whether I did of didn't dps the boss would always reset within 5 seconds. I finally got it to work by going around behind Manny then towards Illidan and friends then dpsing Manny only then throwing the sword stuck in the ground at him.

This fight is bugged, still in 9.1.5

What to do: Go right (walk behind Mannorath) and fight him, not Varo'then. When you attack Varo'then first, he will reset within 5 seconds. If you engaging Mannoroth, the fight will go on! Hope this helps.

Stage One: Dealing with the Rabble

Players must defeat Captain Varo'then while Illidan and Tyrande fight off Mannoroth and the demonic forces entering from the Well of Eternity.

Mannoroth – Mannoroth faces off in mortal combat against Illidan Stormrage.
- Fel Firestorm – Mannoroth unleashes a Fel Firestorm, rapidly creating 3 yard radius Fel Flames around the area for 12 sec. Fel Flames inflict 23 Fire damage every second to any player standing within them.
- Felblade – Mannoroth coats his mighty polearm in demonic fire, gaining a chance to deal 68 additional Fire damage when striking opponents in melee.
- Fel Drain – If the players inflict a significant amount of damage to Mannoroth while Captain Varo'then lives, Mannoroth sacrifices Captain Varo'then and heals himself to full health.
- Doomguard Devastator – These massive demons from the Well of Eternity seek to protect Mannoroth, but Tyrande stands in their way.
- Dreadlord Debilitator – These Dread Lords periodically enter from the Well of Eternity, then attempt to debilitate Tyrande.
  - Debilitating Flay – The Debilitating Dreadlord disables Tyrande, preventing her from performing any actions and allowing Doomguards to swarm the area.
Captain Varo'then – Captain Varo'then attacks the players to prevent them from interfering with Mannoroth's concentration.
- Magistrike – Varo'then charges his sword with Arcane and Fire magics, dealing 34 Fire damage to an enemy and arcing to another nearby foe. Affects up to 3 total targets.
Illidan Stormrage – Illidan occupies Mannoroth in melee combat so the players are free to defeat Captain Varo'then.
- Darklance – Illidan conjures forth a spear of dark magical energy, piercing Mannoroth for 34 Shadow damage.
- Aura of Immolation – Illidan shrouds himself in magical flames, inflicting 23 Fire damage to nearby enemies every 3 seconds.
- Demon Rush – Illidan charges at Mannoroth, coursing with Fel energies and inflicting 100% weapon damage to him.
- Demonic Sight – The Gift of Sargeras gives Illidan sight beyond sight, allowing him to dodge 90% of Mannoroth's attacks.
- Taunt – Illidan goads Mannoroth into focusing attacks on him.
Tyrande Whisperwind – Tyrande positions herself to intercept the rush of Doomguard Devastators exiting from the Well of Eternity with Lunar Shot.
- Lunar Shot – Tyrande holds off the demons exiting from the Well of Eternity with her Lunar Shot.
- Blessing of Elune – When a Dreadlord Debilitator casts Debilitating Flay upon her, Tyrande beseeches Elune for her blessing. This blessing affects all nearby allies, enchanting their attacks and spells to inflict additional Arcane damage to lesser demons.

Stage Two: Flames and Darkness

After the players defeat Captain Varo'then, his enchanted Magistrike Blade lies on the ground. After a player throws and embeds the blade into Mannoroth, the demon begins to take massive damage from the stored magic within the blade.

Mannoroth – The wounded Mannoroth continues to fight, opening a Nether Portal to bring demonic allies into the fray.
- Embedded Blade – Players may pick up Captain Varo'then's magical elven blade and throw it towards Mannoroth. The blade embeds itself into Mannoroth's demonic armor. The magical blade then causes strikes against Mannoroth to have a chance to create a Magistrike Arc inflicting 1132 Fire damage to Mannoroth.
- Nether Portal – Mannoroth summons a portal to the Twisting Nether, allowing him to call forth demonic allies. As his remaining health dwindles, additional types of demons exit through the portal.
  - Felhound – At 85% remaining health, Mannoroth summons a weak felhound to aid him in combat from the Nether Portal.
  - Felguard – At 70% remaining health, Mannoroth also summons a Felguard from the Nether Portal to aid him in combat.
  - Doomguard Devastator – At 60% remaining health, additional Doomguard Devastators begin to pour from the Nether Portal.
  - Infernal – At 50% remaining health, Mannoroth calls down a hail of Infernals to aid him in combat.
Illidan Stormrage – Illidan continues to fight Mannoroth with his host of Demon Hunter abilities.
Tyrande Whisperwind – Tyrande runs out of arrows and beseeches Elune for help against the overwhelming number of demons.
- Hand of Elune – Tyrande is granted the full powers of the High Priestess of Elune, inflicting 34 Arcane damage to three neaby lesser demons every 3 seconds.

Stage Three: Your World will be Unmade!

After Tyrande collapses upon destroying the rain of Infernals, Illidan then infuses himself to finish off Mannoroth.

Mannoroth – Even heavily wounded Mannoroth continues to fight for his lord Sargeras.
- Embedded Blade – The embedded magical blade causes strikes against Mannoroth to have a chance to create a Magistrike Arc, inflicting 1132 Fire damage to Mannoroth.
Illidan Stormrage – Illidan infuses himself with demonic energy to finish the fight.
- Gift of Sargeras – Illidan infuses himself and all nearby allies with the fel energies of the demon lord Sargeras, healing for 20% of maximum health every 2 seconds and dealing 34 Fire damage to nearby enemies every 2 seconds.
Tyrande Whisperwind – Tyrande unleashes a massive blast of Arcane energy to destroy any nearby lesser demons, then collapses.
- Elune's Wrath – Tyrande unleases a blast of Arcane energy to destroy any nearby lesser demons.

Malfurion Stormrage – Utilizing the powers of nature bestowed upon him by the demigod Cenarius, Malfurion Stormrage focuses the will of the living creatures of Azeroth upon the demonic portal hovering over the Well of Eternity. When Mannoroth reaches 25% remaining health, Malfurion casts a spell to cause the portal to violently implode and pull the demonic legions out of Azeroth.
