Houndlord Ren spawns near 12,30 in Vale and patrols north/south. He appears only during the Warring Clans assault and drops Ren's Stalwart Hound.

If you want to check if you've killed Houndlord Ren today and don't use an addon for it, you can use the following macro, which contains all the mount-dropping rares of 8.3:

Note that for the sake of simplicity I've included all NPCs, even though some won't be up on any given week. You can either ignore them or delete them from the macros. You can also consolidate the NPCs you're interested in into fewer macros, but there is a character limit so you can't fit them all into one.

Please OPEN A GROUP in the tool if Ren is up. On most servers 1-2 people kill him solo. Don't be so selfish - opening a group won't hurt you, but will make some mount farmers (like me) very happy. :) Good luck everyone! :)

camped him for one spawn cycle. Was ~50 minutes. I would guess a 45-60 minute spawn timer

If you kill BFA rares for pets, toys and mounts across multiple toons and want a way to track that easily, I created a do-it-yourself edit for the fantastic SavedInstances addon that adds tracking for a bunch of them like Houndlord Ren, Rustfeather, or Anh-De the Loyal among others. You can make these changes yourself with any text editor.

Add the following lines to the Quests.lua file in SavedInstances addon folder starting at approximately line 60 (in the "_specialQuests" array):

The folks who made the SavedInstances addon have a stated policy of not adding tons of individual rares to the addon, but in comments on their project site pointed out how you can do it. It's one of my top must-have addons, and I recommend if you're a collection farmer you get it.

My spawn times are 8.42, 9.40 and 11.17 Thats a wait time of 1 hour and then 1hr 40 minutes

Do we know if its spawn time is influenced by anything, like killing the Mogu near its spawn point?

I heard talk that this has been the case for other Elites in the past, so I was wondering if it is true for this one as well.

Might be a coincidence but Houndmaster Ren spawned right after I did a Mogu Relic turn-in for Mogu strongbox @ 10.8,28.2

Spawns at /way 13.1 26 at the northeast end of his range. People are always camping, so there's no point in waiting anywhere else.

A good moment to farm this mount is when the assaults flip towards the "Assault: The Warring Clans", for EU it's either on saturday at 8 pm server time or at 8 AM on wednesday. The rare instantly spawns once the zones resets.

A day of remembrance for my fellow mountfarmers who camped Houndlord Ren with me from 8:31 to 10:50, a crazy long 141 minute respawn. Naturally I was off checking Ha-Li when it spawned, so I couldn't even tag it. Pour one for me.

He's supposed to spawn right when it switches to the warring clans but it seems like that was either changed or he just decides not to sometimes. Tuesday reset came around on NA servers and he did not spawn immediately, even checked on three different phases and he was not up.

Working macro, as of 9.2.7 for all the BfA assault mount rares. Tells you clearly if they have "Yes" or have not "No" been killed for the day, per character. Color coded for quick visual aid.
