There are so many things Blizzard could have done to take rogues in a different direction this expansion...
my problem with the rogue order hall doesnt stem from it being in the sewers- actually looking at it its pretty cool its saving grace is secret rooms. thats cool. the problem is however if u look around ull find npcs DRUNK AND PASSED OUT ON THE FLOOR! its kinda funny but it kinda makes u look at ur class lore and say "wow i hang out with THESE people? seriously?"
i get what you mean about wanting it in ravenholdt but lets get real they are rogues they are not gonna travel across the world to decide what to do next a hideout in the dalaran sewers is actually more "real" if you think on the fantasy behind the class part
SI:7 (OK; that's the Alliance side of things) has an element of "Special Forces/living off the land & your wits" about it, to me - the last thing anyone living that kind of lifestyle is going to want is anything that says, "Coo-ee... here I am" in the way a plush base-of-operations would. If their hang-out is repulsive & decrepit, then the last thing it will attract is attention... flies & Environmental Health, maybe, but it's not going to be the kind of place where too many would be willing to go looking for someone in a hurry.
Not the best, but I can live with it. It would be the worst, but we have the warlock OH. Unfortunately for me, Rogue and Warlock are the two classes that I play. I'm trying to convince myself that this is kind of like London Below in Neverwhere, so I can figure out how to make it seem fun. The warlock hall, on the other hand, is beyond anything I can work with mentally. I'm a warlock--I tear demons out of the darkness of the void and bend them to my will, but that doesn't mean I want to hang out with them in the nether. There isn't even a place for warlocks to hang out and socialize over a glass of tears. Where do we sit? There are no rooms, no comfortable spots to relax. Why would warlocks hang out in this place? We're not demons! I've thought of it...the warlock hall reminds me of The Inevitable City--but even more uncomfortable. Not a place I will visit much, I shouldn't think.
So I'm disappointed in the sewers, but it's still alpha, they can get better. I remember them talking about a library and stuff before. But where are my deathstalkers. That's what every undead Rouge plays as. That change is the unforgivable one blizz. :(
RAVENHOLDT OR RIOT
Sigh... I was willing to give the sewers a shot, but I don't even know where to go with this... It doesn't fit any 'class fantasy' that I can think of. We're supposed to be some sort of Skyrim thieve's guild, yes? That's what they're shooting for? Then why is it that the entrance to our 'super secret base' is not only in BROAD daylight, but Khadgar even makes a joke about it!I don't feel sneaky at all... I feel like we got shoved in a corner (especially after seeing all the completely new locations they've come up with for some of the other classes). Also, glad to see they've kept up the tradition of making completely uninteresting dagger models... Guess I'm swapping mains next expansion because there's no way I'm staring at this mess for a year+.
So Druids get the birthplace of their power, Paladins get a grand and elegant hall, Warlocks get an otherworldly realm of felfire.... and Rogues get a sewer. In a city that already exists. A city of mages. Seems a bit... unfair. As a Rogue main, I feel cheated. And Rogues don't like being cheated. We do the cheating!
COOL! In the sewers of a magi city instead of Ravenholdt which was the Rogue Headquarters since Alpha WoW! *SAID NO ROGUE EVER* Yes I'm salty.
As a non rogue main I thought the class hall wasn't to bad actually but I look at rogues more as thieves than assassins but maybe that's the problem, we have 3 very different specs that could go 3 different ways, Assassination = well, uh, an a assassin :) Outlaw = Pirate and Subtlety which is my fave and to me at least feels like the thieving one, all 3 of those classes/types would be best to have there own zone from a purely rp/lore perspective, Sub would be the best fit for a manor or some sort that they have bought from the loot they have stolen and/or conned the previous owner out of using their stealth skills. Outlaw I would love a little cove/bay with the all the usual good pirate stuff, inns, games, drunkenness, a hoard to hide all your booty you have plundered and maybe even your own ship :) Finally Assassination, they are the hardest for me to pin down to a place as a good assassin would always be on the move and not settle down as that may give him away and get caught. The best I could think of is a secret underground area, nothing fancy maybe even quite dark dingy so not to try alert anyone to this location. it would have training areas inside of it, craft halls of sorts where the assassin would play around with new weapons and poisons and maybe even a mini garden full of highly poisonous plants. Now I havent played Legion yet I have only seen pictures and some videos but from what I have seen and if you have read through all that wall of text is that there are parts of those ideas for the 3 speccs that are in the Legion class hall, you have, ok only somewhat secretive, nature of the class hall being underground and dark like the assassin idea, you also have the forsaken guys playing around with some no doubt toxic stuff. You have the manor feel for the sub in the meeting room with the rest of the main rogue leaders and you get the piratey feel for the outlaw via the treasure room with all the gold and the inn and the fishing area.I think they have done a pretty good job all things considering that as mentioned the 3 speccs are quite different from one another in a fantasy sense.Be positive guys, I am sure you will come to like in end :DP.S I love the Baron and his sweat regulators hehe.
I still detest the sewers, it makes me puke. I want Ravenholdt!Weapons suck. Sure worst from the artifacts.
I'm upset about this and i don't even have a rogue.
