Simply go to the Gai-cho camp (where you need to kill gai-cho for the other quests) loot about 15 bombs and go to town on the mobs while flying on your flying mount above them.

To get the Highly Explosive Yaungol Oil go directly north of the mobs you need to kill for this quest. The barrels should be laying around on the ground in a Yaungol camp.

Incidentally (or not) its the same place you do this quest: Assault Fire Camp Gai-Cho which should be one of your other dailies.

It appears you can only carry 10 barrels at a time. As of this post I am unable to kill 100 with just 10 barrels as they only take some mobs to ~%10. It may take 2 trips.

Druid's beware! The oil can be used while mounted... this will deshift you. You will be put in combat if your bomb hits something and you'll go Splat!

Don't you dare complain... I know you just hover in bird form on Survival Ring: Blades.

EDIT: No longer true. Druids can now both loot and use the oil in flight form.

First, Fire Camp Gai-Cho is not named on the map. The most southern point of the camp to get the barrels was 61,43. The kill field is south of that as shown on the map above.

This quest became bugged for me, and I was unable to loot and oil. Reloading didn't work, or even relogging. I completely closed my game and restarted WoW and I was able to loot them again. If you find that you can't look the barrels of oil, close your game and reopen.

This quest is an awesome way to farm Your reputation with The Black Prince, however there are some things You have to remember -

You can have only 10 Highly Explosive Yaungol Oil in Your backpack.
If you will slain 100 Combatants (meaning end the quest) - You will not be able to pick any more of Highly Explosive Yaungol Oil

So, pick up 10 Highly Explosive Yaungol Oil, go to the battlefield, fire them up, BUT don't get 100 slains, abandon quest, and take it again, since the quest giver is close to You... repeat....

so uhh.... pvp servers beware! can fly just in range of the area to use these barrels, turn around and bomb the opposing faction who try gathering barrels at the edge... hits just as hard as it hits an npc for physical damage, armor/spec reduces damage. (tanks take 3 hits, anyone else 1-2) it's a good 2 minute run back.

I did the quest for the first time today. and i was struggling around to find the camp. Even with the comments that were already written here.

Just in case you were curious, yes, this can be used on enemy players, and yes, it does do over 200,000 damage per hit. All you need to do is float nearby and you can land this sucker on any enemy players trying to do their dailies.

Not that you would EVER do that, right?

If you hover over the north part of the battlefield, you can use the bombs to one-shot some mobs for Assault Fire Camp Gai-Cho as well.

For me, the bombs located in the hills just to the east of where you kill the mobs are not obtainable. I found that up in the hills is where you have to go. Specifically, 63.45 43.46. There is a wagon right there that can hold up to 4. There are 3 to 4 additional spawn points immediately outside of the wagon, and another 2 to 3 spawn points inside the big tent next to the wagon.

I usually go here first, and get completely filled up. By the time I go back and kill the 2 mobs there, the barrels have respawned, and I can fill up again to complete the quest.

Additionally, the barrels work the same as AoE damage does. In that, the more mobs you have, the less you do to each individual mob. There is a damage cap that gets spread around. From what I foun, if you hit 10 or less mobs, they will all be 1 shot. More than that and you'll have to do 2 bombs. This is also how i got Fire in the Yaung-Hole. I hit about 17 mobs and it took them all down to about 25% life. Hit them again and bam, got the cheeve.

So, theoretically it is possible to do this in 1 trip, however it is highly unlikely.

once you finish the quest you need to give it in as soon as possible otherwise it will dissapear from your quest log and you have to start it again

edit: After re-accepting the quest I no longer can pick up barrels :( to re-complete.

Just a small note: You can take the barrels from The Enemy of My Enemy... Is Still My Enemy! (The Enemy of My Enemy... Is Still My Enemy!) and use to kill the mobs for Assault Fire Camp Gai-Cho (Assault Fire Camp Gai-Cho).
It will NOT count towards The Enemy of My Enemy... Is Still My Enemy! (The Enemy of My Enemy... Is Still My Enemy!), it will however make life a lot easier if u want The Shado-Master which grants the Shado-Master title.

The way to do this is to be on the left side of the hill up to the camp if u come from Master Snowdrift. It will count as if your on the battlefield, allowing you to use the barrels without a breaking a sweat. For (Know Your Role) achievement this is extremly helpfull for a melee dps (Or anyone who wants it easy for that matter). Makes this part of the achievement so much easier.

Small note: As this is my "first" helpfull note on Wowhead i'm still not familiar with how u add links which shows items, achievements, spells etc. When i figure it out i will update this post to reflect this.

There are a fair number of unguarded / low guarded barrels at about 61.4, 43.9. 2 Kills and you can pick up about 5-6 Barrels

Something interesting for those farming cooking mats, cloth, motes of harmony, enchanting mats, or really anything...the bombs can be used to kill mobs not associated with the quest surrounding the quest area and the mobs are then lootable. Not sure if this is intended or not but it makes it really simple to farm things in this area.

You're able to do this over and over for Trial of the Black Prince. Just get 10 barrels, target only mantid. You usually will be able to have 2 routes (20 barrels). Then, abandoned quest and redo. Got honored in 15 minutes.

Oh, snap. Only works as reputation-farming until Honored with Black Prince.

Instead, I recommend the Sparkrocket Outpost beach conquest daily, available to 90s at the far Eastern edge of Krasarang.

You will earn a moderately high 21 rep. or higher for all non-priest kills (by Horde upon Allies). Adds up quickly enough, and it keeps working past Honored.

The general advice above applies, too. Get the daily (might take 2 to 3 days for the specific daily to recur) which wants you to "Activate Sentry devices inside buildings". This should generally ensure that there are enemies on the beach for you to kill and farm.

And don't Complete or Abandon the specific daily. All the enemies might disappear thereafter.

Often when I drop a bomb during this quest, my client freezes up.

Restart WoW, drop another bomb, client freezes.

Cool tip for those of u trying to gain reputation with the Black Prince.
If you use the barrels and kill mobs (say 10-15 in one go) then for each mob killed u get around 10 exp each. Now u can carry 10 barrels at once so that around 100-150 mobs in say 20 secs.

Thats 100-150 * 10 = 1000-1500 exp in 20 secs for doing barely anything!

Rinse and repeat until Honored with the black prince!

Be carfeul though as once u have completed this quest u cannot use the barrels until the quest becomes available again on another day!

Guess they patched it, after I got 100 kills it no longer allowed me to pick up more barrels. Bummer.

For your information if someone else is doing this qst and throwws the barrels you won't get credit for kills. But You Can Go Back And Get More Barrels

I love this quest as a means for Black Prince reputation. The way I did it was:

1. Pick up quest.
2. Acquire full stack of barrels. (stack = 10)
3. Drop barrels until I hit about 90/100 kills. (because if you hit 100/100 you can't pick up any more barrels)
4. Restock barrels back to full.
5. Drop all remaining barrels. (1 barrel to finish quest leaving you 9 more for just pure rep)
6. Abandon quest.
7. Fly back and pick up quest again.
8. Rinse and repeat.

Stumbled on a curious bug today.. when I ran out of barrels to drop on the mantid, I decided to dismount and AoE farm the rest with my shadow priest on foot. After clearing about 3 waves, they stopped respawning for good... been sitting around waiting for over 10 minutes now and no new mantid appeared. :| Probably best to just stick to the barrels..

Edit: A relog fixed it, must've been a phasing issue.

Use Highly Explosive Yaungol Oil Barrels to kill 100 mantid or yaungol on the Gai-Cho Battlefield.

Description

The mantid are our enemies. As are the yaungol at Fire Camp Gai-Cho. It is fortunate, then, that they are also each other's enemies. Mantid from Kri'vess constantly attack the Gai-Cho yaungol, who hold them off at their front gates. I want you to wreak havoc. "Borrow" some highly explosive oil barrels from camp Gai-Cho, and toss them down onto the battlefield from the air. I don't care which ones you kill, just kill a lot of them.
