Currently on the PTR (Build 17247), I killed 惑龙 <The Black Wind> twice, a rare elite Thundering Onyx Wind Serpent flying on the Timeless Isle. He seems to patrol a relatively large path near the Northeastern area of the island, as I've seen him once around The Blazing Way and again coming from Ordon Sanctuary over the broken bridge.

The first time I killed him, he only dropped a 颤动的风火龙蛋 and a few Timeless Coins.
The second kill, he dropped a Timeless Armor piece and the 雷霆玛瑙云端翔龙缰绳 in addition to the Timeless Coins, but no 颤动的风火龙蛋.

Simple solo as dest lock.
Voidlord pet, set him to stand at a point on one side of the cliff, you stand by huolon's tail, when he does his lightning pillar, move out of it, and likewise move your pet if it gets hit. Burn and keep your pet up with blood pact.

Just killed him on US Azuremyst just a bit after the server went live this morning.

He is tap-to-loot, you do not need to be in a group or the initial pull. If you see him dying, run up and smack him! I saw someone killing him and I jumped in and looted 永恒皮革头盔 and 508x 永恒铸币 afterwards. I am a hunter so I can't use it, but my druid will appreciate it. :)

Longest respawn time noted was 1 hour 20 minutes.
Shortest was 30 minutes on the dot.
Overall, about 40-60 minutes is the average respawn time.

Huolon spawns on top the middle tower of the bridge that connects Firewalker Ruins to The Blazing Way. It then flies north along the coast before flying up and around to where Cinderfall spawns then back to the bridge.

Please Note, This was my fifth kill that day so I can confirm you can get the mount on second + kill of that day.

Got a group together and kill him for the first time today. He dropped the mount for me and armour token. No one else got the mount. Either i was lucky as hell, or its kind of common drop.

Dropped the Thundering Onyx Cloud Serpent for me on my first kill. Mal'Ganis was too laggy all day; had a friend invite me to Rivendare, where we pretty much went around rare/coin farming and we killed houlon probably 4-5 times. Only seen the mount on our first kill. Best of luck to everyone else!

Spawns on top of the tower, on the middle of the bridge, east of Firewalker Ruins and starts flying up towards The Blazing Way (where all the Crimson Cloud Serpents are flying).

Hi guys, I thought I'd list a couple things here about this NPC. My friend and I got super excited and pulled him with just us two, my hpally and her spriest...not necessarily a swell idea, unless you're a warlock; I was barely able to keep her up :p

He will cast aoe beams at you if you; they don't really hurt much, although the effects may get worse if you stand in it over time, since I moved out immediately. You can tell he will land one on you if you he targets you. Your position doesn't matter; I've seen them cast close proximity to him and he also aims them at my healer.

The important thing to note about him is that his breath will most likely one-shot you. I believe this spell does do a select amount of damage, because I've seen it one-shot dps/healers but leave tanks/warlocks barely alive. He seems to breathe in front of himself throughout the fight.

Someone posted saying that his respawn is 30-60 minutes, I would presume this to be true. It does seem to vary a little, so don't expect the time to be exact if you are camping him. But he will show up fairly often, which is a relief.

He's obviously taggable to everyone of either faction. If you're on a pve server, be careful not to aoe and flag yourself; I've seen groups trying to grief people like this since his mount would appear to be very desired.

Speaking of his mount, since there's no info about it yet, I would have to guess that it's a 1-2% drop. Of course, it's RNG and it's hard to be certain; I'm merely suggesting that it doesn't appear to be an easy thing to obtain and you should be patient if you want to get it :)

He can drop several hundred Timeless Coins, boa 496 gear and Quivering Firestorm Eggs, not including the mount. I don't believe I've received a high amount of coins from him yet, so I think he's mainly just there for the mount.

Here's his exact spawn point for those who don't use coordinates, as well as collective tips on how to help you obtain your own:
雷霆玛瑙云端翔龙缰绳:

• Look at your Map (M) and look for the concrete looking bridge connecting the Firewalker Ruins to The Blazing Way - cross that bridge going north and as soon as the concrete bridge becomes a dirt path on your map, that is where will spawn; in the air above the bridge. (Note: There will be a crumbled tower right next to the bridge that he spawns above).
If you set your graphics settings to Max Draw Distance, you will be able to spot him way high in the air above the bridge as he flies down to become attackable at the end of the bridge.

• Note: This is Huolon's spawn point, not where he patrols around!
If you were not present for his fresh spawn, he will be patrolling between The Blazing Way and Ordon Sanctuary, moving in a " ┐" (reversed L) shape between the two.

• Huolon spawned 30 min apart between kills on busy Kel'Thuzad server, however; this early into 5.4 it is unknown if this is a set spawn timer or it is due to the heavy farming of the mobs/dragons around him, the way some of the other Rares spawn. Less populated servers with infrequent farming/killing of mobs in the Yaungol areas have reported respawn times between 30 to 60min+. (I will update this as more concrete information comes in regarding respawn time.)
UPDATE 9/15/2013: Huolon had a strange respawn of 30min consistently until late at night I waited 1hr 23min for him to spawn; still gathering info to narrow down the reason(s) for consistent/inconsistent spawn times.

• Important: Don't forget about your best friend CRZ! This can and will completely effect the respawn time and location when you first spot Huolon if you've changed servers without realizing it. Its best to either stay partied with the same person(s) or stay solo if farming for Huolon.
Example: He may have spawned several minutes ago on your home server while you were partied with someone who took you to a different CRZ; upon leaving the party/group you're taken back to your home CRZ and see Huolon spawn/materialize in a location along his patrol route, because he actually spawned already while you were on a different CRZ with your party. Similarly, waiting 25min with no spawn, only to change CRZ with one that may have killed Huolon minutes ago, you'll then have another extended waiting period before seeing him spawn again, since he was actually just killed moments ago on your home server or current Cross-Realm Zone.

• The new "Connected Realms" feature (coming soon, rolling out in stages) 'should' fix these CRZ-related annoyances, but has not been implemented on any servers yet. (I will update this as those select servers do roll this feature out)

I have been easily soloing this rare on my hunter since my server isn't very populated

The fight should go down as follows.
I usually pull him on the right side of the bridge (where you would spawn if you die). Make sure to clear some of the adds in the area otherwise you will pull them during the fight (and they are elites so ouch).

When in range pull him and immediately misdirect to your pet.
You do not need a turtle to tank this, I used my wolf and your pet will not take much damage throughout the fight.

He has two abilities:
风暴绽放 which will spawn a lighting pool under you. It is easy enough to move out of when it happens.

and

闪电吐息 which he will do a purple breath in front of him that will one shot you if you are standing in front of him.

As long as your pet has aggro throughout the fight you can easily attack him from behind.

There were like 20 people camping it on my server, all of them making remarks like "I've seen 5 people get it on their first kill but I'm on kill 15 without it".

This reminded me of something I saw while datamining: and

Those are hidden tracking quests, meaning that you can't see when you complete them or that you have them (everyone has them). However, I know for a fact these quests have an impact, at least on Timeless Coins from the rares.

The way it works with coins is this: Once you kill a Timeless Isle rare (thereby completing the "First" quest), then your next kill (and all kills after that) will check "Daily" quest for completion. If you've killed that rare, you will get much, much, much lower coins than normal.

I believe that this impacts rare drops as well as coins. This means that Cinderfall's Falling Flame and Huolon's mount (etc etc) can only be obtained on your First kill ever AND your first kill of the Day (which excludes your first kill ever).

Edit: There are some reports to the contrary on this. I know the daily impacts coins and access to your 'personal loot' table (I had to roll against a friend for one epic from a rare but not for another epic on the same rare), but perhaps there is a drop rate on the 'main' loot table for the mount as well.

It could be the same drop rate, so these items aren't affected at all, or it could be a 'lower' chance after the Daily is completed, sort of like how the Keys on the Isle of Thunder worked.

Huolon is confirmed to be a rare spawn on Timeless Isle, spawning at the Blazing Way, with a large patrolling area. Notable loot includes 颤动的风火龙蛋 and 雷霆玛瑙云端翔龙缰绳.

There are internal daily quests for the rares on Timeless Isle, which drastically reduce the coins (and possibly loot) you get on your characters after your first kill that day.
- first kill of the day, good loot/coins/etc.
- any kills afterwards, less coins, no/very little loot.

So, as a word of advice, this isn't confirmed but it's likely you cannot get the mount after your first kill on that character. So, use your alts if you are camping. The daily is individual to characters. I have been camping and I have gotten much better loot by logging different toons than I did by sitting on one char and killing repeatedly.

If it returns a 1, you've killed him already today. If nil, you have not.

Roughly an hour respawn time (from what I have seen between two kills, it was about 56 minutes, time between my first and second kill wasn't checked) seems to normally spawn between the first and second bridge at The Blazing Way. May drop a mount that looks like the rare mob itself

I can confirm that Huolon can/will drop the mount even if you are not yet exalted with The Order of the Cloud Serpent. I looted the mount this morning and am still only Honored with them. He dropped the reigns to the mount outright without the egg to turn in.

I have two bits of info on this guy.

First, chances at the mount seem to be individual. That means the more people that are there to kill him when he spawns, there is a higher chance that someone will loot a mount. I'm on US-Sargeras which is a full server, with something like 99% alliance population. As a result, huge crowds gather for Huolon's spawn and someone gets this mount almost every kill during peak hours.

Second, the mount is tradeable. It has a timer on it like boss drops. I purchased the mount from a guy who won it on the same kill that I had participated in. If you don't care about the mount, this rare could still be worth farming for the resell potential.

On the US Area 52 realm Huolon is heavily farmed when he spawns, average respawn is anywhere from 30min to 55min. Always spawns above the bridge leading to the Blazing Way

I can confirm you can get the mount on second and/or third kills for that day.

While the hidden daily quest may reduce chances, it does not eliminate the possibility.

Do not kill Huolon while in a raid group I killed him while in a raid group a few days ago and received no loot at all, he was lootable but when clicked him nothing happened.

He despawned very quickly so I didn't get chance to test if being in a raid to kill him and then leaving allowed me to loot. I and others in my group could not loot him, we disabled all addons, reloaded, logged out and back in etc.

He is lootable while in a party, no one else in your party has to damage him you can still loot him if you are the only one to hit him.

From what I have seen if you tag him no one else in your party will get loot unless they hit him too.

I've been camping this guy on my main since I got up this morning and have killed him 6 times as of this moment. I'm trying to get his respawn timers down, but so far they seem pretty infrequent; at one point he spawned after an hour exactly, then an hour and a half, then just under an hour . I'm trying to see if there is a definite number, but the best advice I can give to those that actually want to be there when he spawns and get the tag is to watch for a pattern with the rares on your server; take note of what rare was up last before he spawned and see if it happens again.

Also, I do not believe the internal "daily" or "weekly" quest that seems to be attached to our characters now has any affect on the "bigger prizes" he can award. My second hunter killed him twice this morning; first time he received a Lesser Charm and under 100 Timeless Coins, then the second time he got a Quivering Egg. My main has killed him 4 times now and has two eggs, as well as a Timeless Cloth Belt and the usual Timeless Coins.

Please, if you use the wowhead client, remember to upload data! I've been hearing about his mount getting looted pretty frequently, but according to the wowhead data it's only been looted four times. :/

Took me exactly 40 kills over 3 days to get it. I'm happy now. Spawntime seems to have been around 40 min for the most time, sometimes + / - 10 minutes though, area was always fairly crowded.

For people on a PvP server, there is a "safe spot" where you can go afk while camping him.

North of the bridge that connects the Firewalker Ruins and The Blazing Way is a broken down tower to the east. With some carefully placed jumps on what looks like stone slabs that stick out of the wall, you can climb up it and into a "safe zone".

You can scale the broken tower further and become even more unreachable if you're paranoid like I am.

Then feel free to go afk and your NPC scan will pop up whenever he spawns, just a short distance away.

The spawn time is between 30 to 40 minutes and the spawn point(on my server Sylvanas) is above the second bridge when you go up the mountain.I got my mount from the third try.So good luck to all you wow-ers out there farming this mount.

BLIZZ NEEDS TO FIX THIS! no matter if you just tag him or not, it is hit or miss if you can even loot him. it will give you the bags on your pointer to loot but it wont even target him after he is down. FIX THIS ASAP! I PAY TO PLAY, NOT TO GET NOTHING FOR WORKING........

Acquired the mount from Huolon on 9/17/13 after some 40-50 kills. Along with the mount, I also received 12 eggs, 4 burdens of eternity, and a few timeless tokens from him over the course of the past week.

The mount does appear to be 1% drop rate based on the rate that people are getting it. Burdens of eternity are also probably around a 1% drop rate from him, and most other rares (pretty certain I was just lucky to get the amount that I did from him)

It seems like they removed the ability to trade items to other players that also participated in the kill. I did not experiment with the reins, as I wanted to keep the mount, however I did try to sell a Burden of Eternity from Huolon to another player who also participated in that kill and it would not let me trade it. I'm not sure if this is a bug or if it is intentional.

And lastly, you do have a chance of getting the mount and other rare loot on every single kill (not just the first one of the day). You do receive more timeless coins, and possibly have a higher chance of getting good loot on the first kill of the day, but there is still a chance to receive the mount on every kill. I can confirm this, as I received the mount on my 3rd kill of the day, and received most of my burdens from him on kills that were not my first of the day as well.

I can confirm you can purchase the mount from another player who was in on the same Huolon kill, wasn't even grouped with the guy seen him spam general and traded with him 35k for mount, even tho it says BoP it will say it can be traded to other players within 2hrs when in the bag or trade window. So if your tired of camping offer, if you want to make extra gold sell him =D

If you intend to camp him for the mount and you are on a server dominated by the opposite faction:
I've had luck letting them kill me and then I sit as a ghost waiting for the spawn. I just hit accept on the res as soon as he is pulled and kill him.
Collect loot and repeat.

No need to worry about your gear breaking because you are dying PvP deaths.

Spawn timer is almost steadily at 45 minutes on Earthen Ring-with aberrations no longer than 10 minutes now and then. I've been watching the timer for nearly a whole week now and it hasn't changed.

No luck on the mount yet, though, even though I kill him every time he spawns as long as i'm online-lol, I've run out of raids because he was about to spawn and didn't want to miss him!:p

When Huolon is about to appear in ER, you can usually tell by the crowd gathering after the first bridge of the Blazing Way!;)

There is a known issue where there are a significant number of players involved in the killing of Huolon that some players are unable to loot the boss (that was me!).
Unfortunately raising a ticket will not get you any loot as Blizz are not able to identify unlooted items.
Got this info when I raised a ticket. Am on a crowded server and must have been about 200 people involved in the kill. I wasn't the only one unable to loot and I suspect this applies to the other rares on the island as well.

Does anyone happen to know if its possible to get the mount on the same character more than once? The other night the mount dropped for my wife and being the nice person she is and me being the mount collector she gave it to me. I'm just wondering if its possible for her to get another one for herself (she only has one 90) or if we'll need to farm it again and have it drop for me and give it to her?

I killed Houlon 2 times and 雷霆玛瑙云端翔龙缰绳 has dropped both times, in first time only this mount has dropped, and in the second has dropped a 颤动的风火龙蛋 and 纪元之书 too

If you like to kite mobs to far off places then this is the mob for you. Houlon can likely be kited anywhere in Pandaria. I kited Huolon with some guildies to the Shrine of Seven Stars.

Is it true that the drop rate has reduced? I saw and heard of alot of people who got the mount the first week, then i haven't heard much of it since. I've personally done close to 100 kills without seing it drop.

I just uploaded a picture in which you can see where to position yourself comfortably for stealth-farming this guy. This is just south of the tower, under the slope on which players resurrect when killed. Since this tower is the spawn point of Huolon, you will be notified the moment he spawns if you are using NPCScan.

If you have other things to do around the house and can leave the computer on with your character stealthed, and the sound high enough to alert you to its spawning, this is a great method of getting the elusive mount on a druid or rogue.

I can guarantee that you will not be spotted by resurrecting players or by any passerby that moves above you. At least that has never happened to me in several weeks.

Remember to clear the cache of NPCScan every time you have spotted Huolon. Otherwise you will not be notified when it spawns again. For clearing the cache, either manually hunt the files that need deleting (creaturecache.wdb and npccache.wdb inside World of Warcraft\Cache\WDB\enGB (or enUS)) or create a .bat file that does this for you every time you execute it.

To create a .bat file, open your notepad and type:

@del "C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Cache\WDB\enGB\creaturecache.wdb"
@del "C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Cache\WDB\enGB\npccache.wdb"

Make sure the address is correct for you. It could be "Program Files (x86)", or you could have your game somewhere else not following the default location above. Save it as a .bat file or change the .txt extension to .bat once saved.

Now, remember to exit the game once Huolon is killed. Remove the files or execute the above .bat file. Enter the game again and stealth away while you multitask around the house.

This rare is easily solo'd using any toon in any spec! Just hop onto a Highwind Albatross and when you fly over head, target and attack, and he will follow you around the entire isle! Posting pics!

Is there a special way to fight Houlon? Last time I got in the fight, he kept targeting me and I ended up stuck behind the ruins wall and couldn't move. There were Elites all over, so I didn't want to move around much and aggro them accidentally. He one-shot me like 3 times like this. Someone finally whispered me and said I had to move because he was evading every time I got stuck. I had noticed his health kept going back up, but wasn't aware it was my fault. There were several other players in on the fight, so I'm not sure why this was happening to me. I'd never had an issue before. Did Blizz change the mechanics of the fight, or could it have been a glitch? Anyone have any suggestions? Did I make for the booboo?

Soloed today with a 485ilvl warlock and my voidlord, just killed him in those ruins next to the bridge and only evade the aoe on the ground, really easy if you clear the zone first :)

Solo Kill from a bird! I figured out how to Solo Kill him with my DK from a bird.

The first time I tried it I died, but that was from stopping my bird too soon.
Second attempt I killed him, I just had to be careful I didn't let his body fall somewhere I could get to near the end.

I know it worked with my DK as my plagues kept him non stop on aggro, other classes may work as well.

Way I did it, pick up a bird, when you reach the end of the bridge, take your weapons off and auto attack your bird, less dmg the better but don't let it move.

As soon as Huolon gets close, stop auto attack and wait for a moment for him to be in range.
To keep him following and dying I casted Icy touch and Outbreak, only things long range enough I had to keep from dying. If he starts getting out of range, take weapons off, hit bird, , deselect bird, weapons back on and resume hitting Huolon. My dps with only those abilities was a little low so it took me 1.5 complete rounds of flight to down him. He died over the Terrace.

As long as you don't stop your bird too early and have a range attack, and don't kill your Bird. You should be able to solo him the same method as I used.

I farmed Burning Berserkers for 15 hours straight to rep Shaohao one day, and I tracked Huolon's spawn times - the lowest was 30 minutes, and the greatest was 85 minutes - with the most common times being around 50 minutes.
In addition, I was killing the Berserkers 3-5 hours numerous other days, and again the average spawn was around 50 minutes!

Due to the fact that I'm on a PvP server that is unbalanced, I find a safe spot to wait for Huolon to spawn which is usually on the ledge with 3 Firestorm eggs there, I farm the eggs with a 5 minute respawn time until Huolon spawns and then I just Golden Glider my way down to his location to get a tag.

Just had this beauty drop on my main, gorgeous gorgeous mount.
I am very lucky indeed!

The best place to get him I found was a spot just after you get off the bridge.
He instantly spawns on the left every 30 minutes to an hour.
He's a very easy farm and you can just sit in one spot and wait for him to show up.
If you wait on the right side, beside the resurrection spot/wall and face West you cannot miss him when he appears.

Amazing mount and pretty easy to get.Got this one on the first day and first kill.A funny fact is that i tried to get it on a friend's account and dropped from the first kill again.That friend of mine still buys me a menu at Mcdonald's for the good deed I did.:)

Small sample size but the mount seems to drop in clusters. I've pulled him about fifty times and most of the time no one has any exciting comments, but when I got mine at least 2-3 others got theirs as well. Same thing happened two more times. Obviously I can only observe what people report so this may not be a phenomenon at all.

As if 150 kills and no mount (and reading on a thread of a player who had to do 552 kills to get it) wasn't annoying enough, I did 120 kills in the last 8 days, never missed a spawn, in the means, never had to wait more than 1 hour.

Yet today, suddenly, always checking once every 1 min at the spawn spot, I had a kill at 13.52, which would suggest 14.22-14.52 as spawn window, yet not seen one till I killed it at 15.25, then a normal kill within the spawn window, 16.09, and then once again it's 17.30 and still haven't seen it.

Is there a low chance that the respawn exceeds the usual 1 hour limit, or did anyone notice this bug (if it's a bug) as of today, or must I have 100% missed the kills for it to spawn at around 1 hour and half from the previous kill? I'd like to remind you I check every 1 min and that my realm (quel'thalas eu) is on the borderline of medium and low pop and that it always takes more than 2 mins to kill it since it's pulled; sometimes he even does some round before pull.

And there's a crimsonscale firestorm which seems to be bugged (in the air close to huolon spawn, but too far to be pulled and doesn't move at all, weird!), may that bug out huolon?

For those melee classes that get constantly screwed by bad aoe mechanics that kills you when you're not even in them:
At a 250ms latency (best case scenario) I found that running constant rings around Huolon actually worked really well, instead of running through (behind) or only moving when the cast begins. Normally I would then get screwed by lightening pools, but I discovered you can also change direction and run through the breath without taking damage; it seems to be only the initial blast that hits, the rest of the cast is dead time.

Maybe this was obvious to other people, but I used to just spend my time using thrown weapon and letting other people kill him to avoid dying to the clusterf*** that it turns into with 10+ people there.

I still haven't found a reliable way to not die to other things I'm not standing in, though.

27 attempts...so far, I've gotten

2 Eggs, 20 Timeless Mail Tokens, 5 of those "items" to give you a boost on the Isle...mixed in with Charms and Coins, of various amounts...no mount, despite people claiming, they've gotten it 4-6 times in a few days.

The other rares, have dropped nothing but charms, and coins for me so far...and no Cloth or Plate tokens...a few leather, but mostly Mail...got enough of them, to fully gear up, at least 3 or 4 Hunters and Shamans. :|

It is such a relief to finally get it. Now I can do dailies/weeklies on the isle not having to worry about missing a spawn and a possible drop.
I've been farming Huolon on and off since october(!), killing him often and on various chars (just in hopes of higher drop-rate on the first/second kill of the day for that char). Eventually the mount had the courtesy of dropping an early morning last week.

I get obsessed with these things...which is bad, really, lol. Raid-mounts are one thing because I pretty much only have one shot pr week pr char, which is easier to cope with.

I have been farming Huolon for days upon end and I've killed him over 150 times. Normally, he always spawns right next to the crumbled tower ruins you can climb. RECENTLY, he has been spawning in very random places and not right at the base of the ground by the tower. The past five kills:

2 spawns by Cinderfall
1 spawn by Leafmender
1 spawn by tower ruins (or the "normal" location)
1 spawn by the guy who sells "censer of eternal agony"

However, I do not know if this is for everyone.. but it seems to have just changed to randomized locations around the Blazing Way in the month of June 2014. I believe Huolon was supposed to be spawning like this, in a very random spot every time. Tell me if you have anything to add onto this, I'd love to figure when this was put into place!

Didn't look in the comments to see if anyone else has mentioned this or not, but I (warlock) just killed him while riding around on an albatross. He followed me around the whole island and the bird flew fast enough that he didn't hit me with anything. I got him low so that I could kill him somewhere where I could land to loot him once I did it. It was pretty awesome, I was expecting him to run back after a distance. Wish I had got the mount though lol.

The mount dropped for me after 13 kills on the Staghelm server - at his spawn point.

I camped him while grinding the Emperor rep - and recently got that mount as well.

am not sure of this but i saw huolon in shrine of seven stars, i think he was pulled there or he spawned there i will post a picture

I wish there was a script or a listing in the UI for how many times I have killed this SOB...
So tired of killing him 7 times a day, across multiple toons and servers and not getting a mount.

Meanwhile my wife and in-laws have killed Huo less than 10 times and all have the mount. :(
