Fist Weapons use the Unarmed skill, but fighting with fist weapons is not the same as fighting unarmed. The primary use of fist weapons (unless you get a high-level epic one) is to keep your unarmed skill in league with your skill in other weapons, so that if you are disarmed you are not totally helpless.

That's just plain wrong. Some of the best blue weapons in the game are fist. Please disregard that comment

Strangely enough, Fist Weapons seem to be considered Blunt Weapons for the purposes of sharpening/weightstones. I was quite surprised when I tried to sharpen my new claws and it wouldn't let me.

Fist weapons are now untrainable, it is considered the 'Un-armed' skill.

Trivia: druids are the only class that can learn Fist weapons that cannot also Dual Wield. There are few reasons other than RP a Druid might want to equip a Fist weapon for...In almost every case, a staff or caster weapon and offhand would prove more effective.

That said, Fist Weapons can look quite cool.

Can anyone tell me how I learn the skill for fist weapons ?, some sites say it's just unarmed with I'm ranked in and others say you learn the skill from a weapon master ?
I have a fist weapon but my lvl57 rogue gets the 'you don't have the proficiency to use these' message when I try and equip ?

I've heard rumors that Fist Weapons add Poisons faster than lets say.. Maces. Is this true or just that, a rumor?

Just a little question. seeing as they lvl up the unarmed skill does that mean you don't need duel wielding for them? or am i being stoopid :P Many thanks

I find it effective to have a dagger or sword in one hand and a fist weapon in the other. Done that ever since I learned dual-wield and fist weapons.

Unlike other weapon types, fist weapons are nearly always 'Mainhand' or 'Offhand'. There are very few 'One-handed' fist weapons, and the ones that do are usually knuckle dusters. If you switch a different one-handed weapon from your mainhand to the offhand the model stays the exact same; it doesnt need to change at all.

With fist weapons however, this is not possible. Fist weapons that are not knuckle dusters have a unique design and can only ever be used in one specific hand. If it was possible to use the fist weapon in the other hand it would be held 'backwards' on your character - the blade would curve the wrong way. For the weapon to show properly on your character it would need to flip the model the other way round. Thats why any 'One-handed' fist weapons are always very boring designs - they must be able to show in either hand and not look broken. Perhaps this will change with the upcoming Lich King expansion.

I think it would have been cool if your characters used their unarmed fighting stances when using fist weapons. Some of the races have really cool unarmed stances that you never see, like female undead.

with my Druid, I use a fist weapon and an off-hand.. its funny, cuz he'll stand there in his pose and sometimes, he'll backhand the mob with the lantern.. haha (lodestone, off hand trinket) quite amusing, especially when it's the killshot and they fall backwards.. more so on murlocs who seem to die dramatically.. but also funny on a charging mob (more than likely "ATTEMPTED to run away in fear") who is stopped short and either falls down or knocked backwards.

Even though they relaxed some of the transmogrification rules in patch 5.2, you still are unable to transmogrify a fist weapon to (or from) anything other than another fist weapon.
