As of patch 3.2, this Gnomebot can be found on top of the counter in the Engineering shop "Like Clockwork" in Dalaran, offering access to your faction's auction house without having to travel back to any of the cities in Kalimdor or the Eastern Kingdoms to do so.

He's equipped with a superiority chip, and will only offer his services to Grand Master engineers. Anyone who attempts to speak with him without fulfilling this criteria will be refused his services.

Should be noted that Brassbolt is the Alliance-only version of the steam-powered auctioneer; Horde players will find Reginald Arcfire in his place.

You actually do not need to be a Grand Master Engineer to access him, all you need is 350 Engineering skill.

I tested this today with my level 50 hunter, just got to 350 Engineering and I can access the AH.

Edit:Should probably clarify, you can be a Master Engineer with your skill at 350 and still access the AH.

If you stand in the corner and take one step forward you can almost cut out the sound of the Mechano-hog outside completely, and still use Brassbolt.

I can confirm in the next patch - 4.0.3a - that Brassbolt now works for everyone, regardless of professions. He now functions as a normal auctioneer for everyone to use.

A Level 84 with no Engineering experience (just Blacksmithing and Mining) was able to use this in patch 4.2

I searched for Brassbolt Mecharench in Dalaran for 30 min and finally gave up and ported to Stormwind City lol.

Can anyone give me a clue on how to get to him? I read all the comments above but I'm still lost :(
It shows on my map that I am right on top of him! I even tried going into the sewers to find him (thinking I was on top of him)... no luck... I feel really stupid :( *sigh* Someone please help

In Legion, he's in the engineering building with the trainers. He won't spawn for you if you don't have engineering on that character.

If you have an empty profession slot, you can pick up engineering - but he won't spawn immediately. A quick relog and he's there.
