These are probably some of the best pets in the game. Why? Well I'll try to make it clear to you...

There are pets that as known as ``caster pets´´, wich include all beats that had mana before you tamed them. (Note that Nether Rays have mana too, but have to drain it before you see it.)
Sadly, these pets have all stats reduced by ~30%, wich decreases their total damage as well. (They have more intellect and spirit, wich are both useless for hunter pets though.)
Most caster pets have a good side too: Their special spell's damage is increased if the hunter has more attack power. (Wich includes Fire Breath for Dragonhawks and Lightning Breath for Wind Serpents.)
Now, this increase doesn't make up for their lack of normal damage sadly.
And now why I said these pets are so good: They are NOT caster pets, yet they do have all the profits a caster pet receives. (Of course a Ravager, Cat or even Raptor will still make more damage, these have less HP though.)
In Instances though, these pets will not be so useful: You will want to set Fire Breath on manual so they don't break all the CC, so a Cat or Ravager will still do the most damage there.
For soloing and PvP, and especially Arenas, these pets come very much in handy though, and I recommend that you have one of these with your stable master.

These may have Eclipsion in their names. However, don't expect to obtain any Scryer Reputation items.

Tamed one of the level 68s, and it didn't take very long to level it up to 70 (maybe 3 sessions of grinding). The fire breath doesn't work on certain mobs that are immune to fire (fire elementals near Kazzak), but otherwise, this pet holds agro very well on most mobs. The fire breath initial threat is pretty good, combo with bite, and I usually see 1.5k threat right at the point of attack.

Not a GREAT pet, but if you are lookin for something new to play around with as a 3rd pet, not a bad one IMHO. It also seems to freak people out in PvP situations with the fire attack and huge wings flapping. Currently I am playing around in BGs with it, and it's holding it's own.

It's all lies! (at least with 4.3.4) 2 hours, 416 dragonhawks killed in and around Eclipse Point and nothing but Brilliant Feathers and Savage Talons. In fact, it took over 100 kills just get a talon to drop ... Waste of time or just the curse of Bliz's random loot table. Now if I were a hunter at least I'd have leather to show for the effort but just over 50g after vendering the feathers and talons.

So I went to farm Wind Scales they says 20% drop rate so far have killed 30 for 1 scale (helping friend for a piece of gear he wants for trans )

got the 16 scales needed in about 30min took much longer than I thought they do drop but

The drop rate on 风鳞 may be only 20%, but they do drop 1 - 5. In a level 25 guild, I actually skinned 6 off of one mob. So, really, if you stick with it you can get quite a few in not that long of a time.

Took me about 30 min to get 20 风鳞 (transmog purposes) from 日蚀龙鹰, none of the mobs dropped more than 1 scale at a time (so I'm guessing 1-5 is a thing of the past now).
