So my guildmate got this guy in uppper reaches, so like Meatball decided to spam floor 1. Upper seems to have a very low % chance to get a chest or rescue. Out of 20 zone in only 3 had a rescue. 3 more had a chest. Rest were empty.

After finding out you could get in Soulforge, spammed Floor 1 Layer 8 Soulforge, took about 15 attempts for him to spawn. GL all.

Like others have pointed out; the chance of getting a rescue event in the Upper Reaches is quite low. I ran over 10 Upper reaches layer 4 full clears and had only 3 rescues in total. It also seems like potential followers are more likely to spawn on higher layers. I decided to do the Soul Forges as recommended by others on layer 8, only clearing level 1. I got Croman on the first attempt (excluding the soul ash run I did earlier). Happy Hunting.

Lost count of how many resets I had to do after clearing both wings but finally saw him on the 1st Floor of Soulforges (Layer 6).

I tried spamming layer 8 floor 1 for this, did 3/4 and nothing. Moved on to try 5 floor 1 as recommended above and still going now with no luck (about 15+ so far). Takes an age for this it seems so good luck!

5 Hours of spamming Upper Reaches Layer 8 (~200 tries) and finaly got him.

~~Can anyone tell us what Runecarver says when Croman is on your floor?~~

EDIT: I found him and I will share my experience...

First of all, I am playing Shaman and my tactic is > Pick Layer level according to Wowhead > Floor 1 > Scan the floor with Far Sight > If I don't find what I want, I am repeating the tactic. Till now it worked with last week covenant specific followers and now worked with Croman as well.

I found him at "The Upper Reaches", Layer 8 > Floor 1, and his task was to kill 1 elite (130k life with 2 people in the group) before the floor boss. After you recruit him, you can safely leave the Torghast without killing anything else. just walk outside or HS.

I think one important thing to note (which I was searching to know) is that the Runecarver said nothing about prisoners... and also the /target Croman did not work for me (I don't know if it works for others).

Some extra info I gathered from around (I don't know if it is valid or not, I am just sharing it) is that at "The Upper Reaches" you have lesser chances to find chests (which is good because if u don't find chest you have more chances to find follower or nothing). Also "The Upper Reaches" is kinda helpful to scan since it is not "Labyrinth" like Soulforges and it has many "open wide" areas.

I did 6 resets of Layer 5 The Upper Reaches. I only scouted the first floor, 4 of the resets had other people to rescue. 3 bloodletter guy, One was Indigo and the other was a Venthyr. Got him on the 6th try relatively easy, Nice thing about upper reaches is its relatively small. You can see the whole map just by walking a few feet inside. There was NO message stated when I found croman, No warning from the runecarver or anything.

On another note, does anyone have a combined list of followers available? Every time I search I come up with old info. I know there are supposed to be 7 for each covenant in torghast. But I am looking for a complete list. Like is indigo a night fae follower for example? I want to make sure I get every follower for my main/alts while they are available.

Finally found him in The Upper Reaches (Layer 5) Floor 1.
Only took about 4 days of farming, a couple of hours each... gee thanks Blizzard. Really appreciated the RNG.
With the Kyrian covenant, and am supposed to have 10 Champions... still no idea which one I'm missing though.
Can't find any lists anywhere that are indicative.

Got this guy on 1-2-2021 doing Upper Reaches Layer 8 on Floor 1.
Took about 10ish resets to get him. If you are a hunter, use the "track Humanoid" ability to pretty much walk in and look for a green dot that says "Croman". Found him up top of a tall stair case.
If you walk into a floor that is all fire traps and the swinging knives there is a very low chance he will be in there.
Good luck and just keep resetting until you get it.

I kept queuing for Layer 8, Upper reaches, over, and over, and over... and over. It took 6+ hrs, 100+ tries, but I found him. It seems that there's a small chance that he might appear instead of the other common NPCs that offer a bonus objective for the respective floor of Torghast. I just kept checking the first floor, if he wasn't there then I just kept leaving and re-queuing 'cause this kind of farm is way faster then clearing whole Torghast. You'll also get similar floors if you keep re-queuing and it'll train your eye and it'll be easier to find him like this. Also, you can turn off your brain, you'll notice that there are only so many spawn points of these quest NPCs/companions.

I got Croman on my very first Layer 5 attempt on Upper Reaches. Floor 5.

Apart from the weird appearance rate... I guess there is not much else to say. The character he's a reference to is pretty obvious, especially with the "Barbarian" title.

Runecarver does not seem to announce his presence, nor that of the Lord of Woe that does not appear unless Croman does.

Found after like 30 attemts 20 upper and 10 soulforge various layers. Layer 5 soulforge he was right before me =D tried targeting macro, doesnt work even when standing right before him....

Edit: If Croman is in Thorghast, it means... he died :(((

Found him today at twisting corridors 4 upper reaches level 2, did not have any dialogue option or interaction, just standing there for the whole party. Bugged it seems.

When we found him he was fighting 2 mobs, which we killed. Afterwards he had no interaction, no dialogue, no quest. Usually he should be chained up when you find him.

Priests can easily skip about and look ahead using Mind Vision. Select a far target and use Mind vision, then chain another enemy from there. Enjoy that unlimited range!

Tip for locating him:

Wait for Coldheart Interstitia to be up. (This is the easiest place to find companions)

Since they disabled the /target command in Torghast for the companions, get the food 熏烤座狼肉排, which allows you to track humanoids.

Run to the first 2 platforms, if you don't see a green dot on the map, run back out. If there's a companion to be found, they will almost always be found on the minimap within 2 platforms (not worth the time running further than that to look). If you see a green dot, mouseover to see who it is. If it's Croman, congrats. If it's not, run back out. The T Shaped Map will never have a companion on it.

If you get the map that requires you jump off a platform to continue, just leave, it's not worth losing the food buff.

It took me under an hour to get both Meatball and Croman on my druid with this strategy (though I used cat form's track humanoids). This may be a bit harder on some classes that are squishy/not very mobile, but if all else fails, simply go as far as you can without aggroing then leave if you don't see him.

I checked Coldheart and Upper Reaches floor 1 about 40 times tonight and found Meatball and Croman on Coldheart layer 5 floor 1- separate runs. Croman was immediately visible, Meatball was a little farther in.
Upper Reaches is much easier to check and run out, but my boys were never there. On Coldheart they were on my last 2 of 3 runs.

Here is my strategy for collecting the companions available in Torghast. I got this information
from reading your posts on wowhead and some other websites.

First of all, I want to start out with this info:

From my experience, when you are on Layer 5 of Torghast (any wing), usually floor 1 in Torghast contains one and only one of the following:

1] A rare elite
2] A treasure chest
3] A campaign mission companion
4] A non-campaign mission prisoner
5] A special visitor

The first 4 reward an anima cell, but the special visitor has a different reward.

Examples of a special visitor:
The Lost Dredger can let you into a secret portal to get more phantasma.
The Maldraxxus Skeleton will give you a thrill ride through a Torghast floor run.

What I was mostly interested in was acquiring the campaign mission companions.

My method to obtain the mission companions involves using the Layer 5, Floor 1 technique.
Currently you can enter Floor 1 of any Torghast wing, do your thing, exit Torghast, and
repeat, since there is no limit to how many times you can enter and exit Torghast.

Your focus should be only on Floor 1. If your companion is not there, wash, rinse, repeat.

Next, I want to talk about your strategy for all classes.

If you want to get any of the first 3 companions in each list of 6 (the ones that are available for "any layer") I suggest sticking with
Layer 1 of any Torghast wing to make things easier.

However, it has been my experience that the higher the Layer, the better chances you have of finding a companion. With this
being said, I recommend using Layer 5, that way you can get all of the companions.

Next, I want to talk about your strategy for specific classes.

1] Hunter : As a BM Hunter you have 3 things working to your advantage.
A] You have a "Hunter Tracking" ability that puts dots on your mini map to show you what type of enemy or friend is in the near
vicinity. Red dots are enemies, green dots are friendly. You are looking for green dots. In most cases you are looking for humanoids
(or undead if you are a Necrolord), but a couple of exceptions are mechanical (Ispiron) and Karynmwylyann (elemental).
B] You have "Camouflage" + "Eyes of the Beast" that will let you travel around the floor looking for those green dots.
C] "Play Dead" and "Feign Death" to get you out of trouble.

2] All other classes you can eat food "Blackened Worg Steak" 熏烤座狼肉排 to track humanoids.

3] Rouge : As a rouge, you will stealth around looking for trapped companions. Vanish if you get in trouble.

4] Warlock : "Eye of Killrog" to look for green dots.

5] Shaman : "Far Sight" to look for green dots.

6] Mage : "Shimmer" and "Invisibility to look for green dots.

7] Druid : Cat form stealth to look for green dots.

8] Priest : Mind Vision is useful (thanks to Bundinn's comment).

9] All other classes, I don't know them very well, so you tell me what works good.

Next, let me talk about the Runecarver messages when you enter Torghast Floor 1.

When you enter Torghast Floor 1 and you get a message from the Runecarver:
Runecarver says: Even a Harvester of pride does not deserve to languish here. Save the venthyr from this fate.
It could be your Venthyr companion. Go find it.

Runecarver says: "The brave... the mighty... the treacherous. All are bound here. Free them."
It could be your Necrolord companion. Go find it.

Runecarver says: "A lost fae, bound in torment. Free them... lest they be consumed by darkness."
It could be your Night Fae companion. Go find it.

Runecarver says: A child of Bastion... undeserving of such a fate. Lead them into light.
It could be your Kyrian companion. Go find it.

When the Runecarver says nothing, there is a chance that you might be on a floor with one of the 4 companions that
are available for all covenants. Look for a green dot.

If you only want your covenant companions, the Runecarver message can be your determining factor as to how you proceed.
If you do not get the Runecarver message for your covenant as soon as you enter Torghast, exit Torghast and come back in.
However, it might serve you well to go just a little bit deeper into the floor before you decide to exit.

Next, I want to talk about what happens if you discover a chest, a rare elite, or a "Special NPC" (Lost Dreger, Maldraxxus
Skeleton, etc) while looking for a companion. Exit Torghast, it is unlikely to find a companion on any Floor if any of these are present.

Another thing is to zoom in on your mini map. I typically always have my mini map on full zoom out, but for this you may want to
zoom in a couple of tics to spread out the red and green dots that show up.

So far I have successfully obtained every companion for my covenant (Night Fae) and also Croman and Meatball using this method.
I still have yet to obtain 安加莉 and 无耻的伊莱.

Went into Skoldus Halls, Layer 5, about 4-5 times - on the 6th time, he showed up for me right in the first main area of level 1. Pretty easy!

just found him in skoldus halls layer 4, floor 2. i was surprised because everything i read was that he was only on layers 5 and up. i think this current patch 9.0.5 changed some things about follower acquisition but TBD.

Found him on Skoldus Hall, Layer 8, Floor 2.

He was one of the last companions I found, since I usually join groups to speed run through Torghast and thus was missing a few companions. Decided to do a solo complete run of Skoldus to find the last companions I was missing, and found him on Layer 8, Floor 2.

Got him on Layer 5, Floor 1, Coldheart. About 10 tries.

The bit that no one asked for:
As you can already tell, Croman is a reference to Conan the Barbarian. Other than the similar sounding name and the appearance, the other reference is "Crom". The ancient Cimmerian God that Conan often invokes. It's also rather ironic that Conan (often repeatedly escaping death) seems to have met his demise by the thing he hates most: Sorcery.
I'm a huge fan of the comics (especially the Savage and Chronicles series), so this companion was a little extra special. I just wish they made the objective boss's name reference a familiar sorcerer foe such as Thoth-amon. But oh well...

Croman has been a struggle on some of my alts this last week. Not sure what's going on. Last night spent *4* hours going through coldheart 5 floor 1. I could not get him. Every other one I got within 30-45 minutes. I tried another character and the exact same thing happened. I got annoyed and logged off.

Then a couple of days later(still coldheart) I log on another character and proceed the grind. Within 5 minutes I run into Croman. The next 30-45 minutes I have all followers. Of course I then log on my other character that couldn't get Croman and nothing lol. 2 hours spent. It's probably just rng being a thing but something to keep in mind.

fracture chambers. layer 5, first floor. doing the reset strategy. probably took about 20 to 30 resets after obtaining every other cov follower. no meatball sighting yet but i will comment on his page when i do.

Quick tips for farming Torghast companions.

Farm companions in any Wing on layer 5 – I haven’t found a major difference between the different wings.

Run the first floor until you find one of the various covenant members, a chest, or special visitor. If a chest or special visitor is present there will NOT be a potential companion quest. Exit and repeat.

Companions can be present on floors with rare elites.

You will receive a message from the Runecarver as you approach these bonus objectives, which will indicate if it is a member of your covenant. Sometimes you won’t get this message until you are literally standing on top of the covenant member. You will not receive a message for the general covenant companions like Croman or Meatball.

This will take you several hours.

How to use Meatball or Croman to boost troops to 60 on new alts
肉弹 and Croman are currently the only two cross-Covenant companions that any class can get on any Covenant. As the median of your companions determine your troop level that never decreases, you can abuse leveling Meatball or Croman before unlocking other companions for max level troops. I've explained the process on the Meatball comment.

Got him in Skoldus Hall Layer 5, Floor 1
On entrance Runcarver said "His wrath comes for you"
The quest was to kill Lord of Woe.

Also don't be an idiot like me and make sure you complete the quest before going to the next floor.
On my first attempt I've somehow missed the Lord of Woe and had to search for this stupid barbarian once more

If you're farming followers in later patches, Coldheart Interstitia seems to have one visible on the minimap (with humanoid tracking) within the first room or two nearly every time. Just reset if you don't see a green dot, or if you see a yellow dot (lost dredger) or chest.

I know that i am late to the party, but he was the last guy I needed for my command table.
I found him in The Fractured Chambers, Layer 16, Floor 6. I was doing the highest layers to get any and all rewards in fewer runs.
