Chances are if you're reading this page you are looking for tips on how to beat this stupidly strong monster because you rolled one of the squishier classes.
He has a stacking self buff that can't be dispelled that is making him 10% faster, stronger and more importantly immune to all forms of crowd control. Consider it a soft enrage because after it reaches ten it's basically game over. this dude is a dps check.
He also applies a stacking debuff that slows you, it can be removed or interrupted or out ranged but it's lethal if you let it get out of hand, and he buffs himself with a stacking 5% melee damage reduction. It can be removed or stolen/dispelled.
With limited ilvl/legs the best bet to get past this guy is to hope for better RNG on anima powers or wait till you gear up enough you can burn him down fast enough.

The key to this guy is managing the buff he casts on himself that reduces his damage taken by... 5% (IIRC?) per stack. It is a VERY fast cast. If you are soloing him be prepared for most of these to go off while your interrupts are on CD. In a group it's likely much more manageable with an interrupt rotation.
I got him down solo after 3 tries on layer 2 as a iLvl 155 Fury Warrior. Interrupt as often as you can. He is susceptible to fear, so once his stacks get high (8-10), use Intimidating Shout several seconds AFTER his cast, and let the fear run its entire course and the buff should drop off. Hopefully you don't get to that point a second time.

If you thought your run was ridiculously easy, prepare for this guy to show up and make you exit empty handed.
Completely ridiculous boss who will punish you HARD for every mistake you make
Interrupt or CC his
威慑英气
exactly as BradMJustice mentions.
Time your defensive cooldowns, if you're an arms warrior, be glad you picked up
不羁坚韧
and
督军的决心
as they are most likely your easiest way of beating this boss.
Bring all outside help, this includes potions / flask, food buff, drums
And pray that you either lucked out on anima or play a class that can handle him.

Honestly, ... wtf is this boss? tried him multiple times and am hardly on upper reach 3.. he just ravages me seems to get some increasing buff that can't be dispelled (alongside the one that can) and just does absurd dmg with a ground slam that you can't run out of its range or jump or anything to get away from that damage. tried potions scrolls bottles everything just can't kill him... I know DH got nerfed in the ground but I would expect to at least still handle these solo things.
Anyone else coming here for info on this boss... just exit the dungeon and go from the start... annoying but spares you getting pissed off about a boss that just seems absurd
On a very last try after much raging and a few lucky souls proccing from chaos Nova i did it with 5 % life left and 1 rejuvi and a healing potion used

Just came here to read up and if your a Frost DK your not soloing this because you only have one interrupt that is not a CC so you just can't stop him stacking the buff.

If you're a class with a pet tank, at 10 stacks I'm pretty sure he also becomes immune to your pet's taunts and threat abilities, which means you're about to be focused down.
If it wasn't for this mechanic, he'd be somewhat simple to gradually damage down, while keeping your pet up. As a warlock, I had some success resummoning my VW when it got low (made easier with the instant summon anima). I was also able to just barely outrange the debuff while still being in range to damage. Probably still a viable strat with a little more gear, I managed to get him to around 15-20% every time with only 150 ilvl as affliction.

Pretty much impossible as a balance druid with a minute long cooldown on my Solar Beam and 45 seconds on my stun. Tried to root and get some distance and no dice. Not gonna spend all 4 attempts being rooted, interrupted and stunned. The difficulty scales up like five or six times and the preceding floors DO NOT indicate how hard this boss is going to be. No fun.

If you're a boomy or other squishy class like I am, your best hope is to pretty much just blow him up before he hits 6 stacks. I got him down just face tanking him. I turreted, blew all my cds, then kited him for the last 5-10%. Got it on the third attempt.

I couldn't do enough DPS as a 158 iLvl Windwalker the two times I attempted Synod, so I went Brewmaster and was given another boss instead. For Windwalker, it seems like Synod is just a hard dps check that I don't think can be beat solo without good gear, consumes, and some pretty insane anima power RNG. My last run before I switched to Brewmaster, I was doing around 4.5k DPS and still couldn't get him under 50% before he just outright killed me after I had blown all my defensives.

Why is this guy part of something that is a main quest? Kind of prevents you from progressing at all because he's so stupidly overtuned. 5 deaths and couldn't get him down, no class in the game has enough interrupts to stop his cast before he gets enough stacks to where you can't even do anything to him anymore. Such a hard dps check in the literal beginning of an expansion is ridiculous lol, nerf him.
评论来自
Phalanx89
If you don't have two interrupts but do have a blink-like ability, you can reset his stacks by out-ranging him before the cast goes off. He is very predictable with his casts so you can anticipate them.
With a warrior, I was able to solo this boss with mediocre gear and anima powers by following this rotation on his casts of Intimidating Presence:
1) interrupt Intimidating Presence
2) let the cast through
3) interrupt
4) heroic leap away to out-range
then repeat. This leaves just one stack of presence on you throughout the fight, but it's admittedly quite hard to pull off.

Screw this boss. You have to be extremely lucky to get past him. I got pretty far as a 150 Vengeance DH but honestly, my interrupt CDs got in the way of that one buff.

Tried this just now with an ilvl 160 Vengeance Demon Hunter, an ilvl 160 Unholy DK, and an ilvl 160 Destruction Warlock, and could only get him to 34% hp before we wiped. We used food buffs, flasks, healthstones, Demonic Gateway, etc.
Maybe if we had a healer, we'd be able to do it.
Edit: There's now a specific option under premade groups for Torghast.

Did this as a balance druid with 160 ilvl gear as night fae
Layer 3
Only had 2 interrupts (solar beam and typhoon) and would have killed him fine without the interrupts.
The key with these bosses is to not try to kite and waste DPS. You have <1:30 to kill him. Even if you do somehow interrupt all his casts to prevent him debuffing you, he also has a buff he is placing on himself which quickly ramps up the damage of the fight
You will need some "ok" damage anima powers. Make sure every anima power you pick in torgast is for single target dps. You don't need any of the amazing 50% damage increase ones. If your not night fae and you don't have anything to burst with, you might want to just to luck out on 1 good epic power. Just restart torgast if this doesn't go well and try your luck again. You can easily double your DPS with luck.
For talents pick:
treants
renewal
resto affinity
incarnation
twin moons - chose this for simplicity (not a balance main)
solstice - chose this for simplicitiy (not a balance main)
Make sure to bring drums, potion, flask. Bind potion and drums to a spell with a macro if you want an easy life. For example I bound them to incarnation in a macro.
wrath > wrath > moonfire > sunfire > treants > incarnation > starsurge > convoke > starsurge > pew pew pew > move to cancel casts and inerrupt intimidating presence if your a bit undergeared > pew pew pew. He should get to around 30% by the time incarnation runs out.
At this point feel free to throw any heals on yourself such as regrowth / renewal / swiftmend as needed. Just remember to go back into moonkin form after swiftmend. Keep blasting and try and interrupt 1 more intimidating presence if possible.
Again: Keep kiting to a minimum. Its a waste of time as he has another ability that will keep buffing him.

I have beaten Synod on the second try on my protection paladin with ilvl gear of 150ish.
Here is what I did:
I stayed stationary the whole fight. I kept Consecrated Ground and defensive abilities up the whole time with Shield of the Righteous and healed with Word of Glory.
I simply interrupted all his interruptible casts using Rebuke and Avenerg's Shield. It is a game of reflexes so I put them on key binds easy to press quickly.
Otherwise normal paladin tank rotation.

Alright - so this boy is kinda hard early on. I did him on upper Torghast 3 which means he had ~312k health. I was Affliction Warlock.
So first off you reaaaaally need the anima power which makes your pet summons INSTANT. This ensures you can always resummon your tank pet. Second of all you reaaaaally need good damage animas otherwise you won't be able to kill this guy.
So my strategy was: I started with my imp and just tried to get in as much damage as possible (I was itemlevel 172 btw) and then I summoned my tank pet. Whenever my tank pet was about to die I resummoned it so that I wouldn't get aggro from the boss.
Once the boss reaches 10 stacks of his buff he will focus you down and you are in trouble.
Use your portal, your covenant mobility ability and your demonic circle in order to get away from him if he enrages (I am nightfae which means the fox came in really handy here).
I was barely able to kill this guy with high item-level and really good damage. I think he is just overtuned. If u struggle with this boss either get help from your friends or try different strategies/talents. I was playing a more single target based build on my second run and it worked in the end.
Good luck.

The WeakAuras addon really helped me complete this. I set up a custom aura to make the airhorn noise as soon as he started casting
威慑英气
so that I could use one of my interrupts to interrupt it. It's only a 1 second cast, so this was critical for me to be able to react in time.
I also recommend making a macro for each of your interrupts that does /stopcasting before casting the interrupt ability.
For WeakAuras, create a new icon aura and set these settings in the Trigger tab:
Type: Status
Unit: Target
Spell Name: Intimidating Presence
And for Actions, set these:
Play Sound
Sound: Air Horn
Sound Channel: Master
You have about 1 minute and 30 seconds to kill him, so go all out. Do not try to kite. Just stay still, maximize your DPS with whatever cooldowns you have, heal if you can after you use all your cooldowns, and interrupt
威慑英气
when you can.

Even as a Beast Mastery Hunter (easiest solo class, right?) I got destroyed by this guy my first run. Of my attempts, I think ~30-40% was my best. I definitely thought it would be impossible.
Second run, I boosted my single target damage through every Anima Power I could. At the end I had +30% damage from Hunter's Mark, +90% damage on Kill Command, and +25% damage for 10 seconds after using a trap. I popped all my cooldowns and managed to burst him down. Got it first try! So I think this is probably doable for some (most?) classes once you know about it and can prepare accordingly.
ilvl 148 btw.

Downed him with a Necrolord Fire Mage here ilvl 143 (Layer 2)
Pretty much luck based as I had Anima powers that enhanced my Skeleton Mage form with 5% spell power and having a damage aura effect around me.
Started by using Fleshcraft + Shield, popping Skeleton Mage + Combustion to deal as much damage as possible with crits + Spell damage
Once the effects are over, pop Mirror Image to gain distance from him and use Time Warp to keep dpsing him.
My copies died off once he was 30% hp and I was able to keep my distance by using Frost Nova, Alter Time and Scorch enchanced movement as any time I couldn't interrupt Intimidating Presence, it would hurt a lot

This dude is a dps check for sure, the first time I ran into him was on layer 2 and I could not get him past 50% and ran out of lives trying to down him.
The next day I was going to try again and focused on single target nuking with my anima abilities.... turns out he was rotated out and to my relief it was

instead.
Finally excited I cleared layer 2 I moved onto layer 3... and to my dismay there he was Synod now on layer 3.
I'm a Outlaw Rogue in 163 ilvl and my first tempt was a failure. My second tempt was successful.
You need to interrupt
威慑英气
every time and he seemed to cast it every 15-20 seconds right as my kick would come off cd.
You need to down him as quickly as possible due to
非自然之力
and
凝固
CC does not keep these from stacking and they'll keep stacking till he (or you) dies.
If you know he's the boss in your current layer focus on heavy single target damage abilities and just face tank and burst him.
Good luck he's a real SoB.

Beat this bastard on the 4th try.
So. I bought some of the tower's healing potions. They
do not

Kept Ignore Pain up as a priority. He can be interrupted by Ancient Aftershock. Saved Deadly Calm for Execute phase.
(Apologies for everyone looking for advice who isn't Ardenwealde or an Alchemist.)
Otherwise, face tank. Interrupt Intimidating Presence, keep Ignore Pain running, beat his ass like you have something against donkeys.
Oh and Die By The Sword owns his face. Activate when you're not bleeding from his dot and you'll discover like I did that Second Wind has enough time to kick off. Nothing he does is actually a magic attack. This does mean you can't Spell Reflect his Intimidating Presence (too bad) but it does mean you can parry his slam.
He is also affected by Intimidating Shout. No $%^&. If you can drop your dot and IS him Second Wind can save the day.
Persevere my bladekin. He's smaller then he looks.

Then you can hit him for half his hp or more depending on your power rng in 2 globals.

As a assassination rogue, at 152, it's doable - but you cannot stand toe to toe and expect to win. There's a pillar on his left - your right - that you can run around that blocks line of sight, which stops the
威慑英气
from being able to be cast.
Simply use
减速药膏
,
锁喉
and
割裂
. Run in, drop them, run out and use
剧毒之刃
to build combo points.
Yes, it will take a while, but it's doable.
鬼灵燕麦
comes in very handy if you can get it. ;)
水银混合物
is also useful for removing the debuff.

Warlocks! What I found super helpful is the fact that your felhunter can dispel his damage reduction buff. For the first 60 percent I just kept zapping that away, and I was using mortal coil and interrupt for his cast. Sooner or later you'll have to quickly switch to voidwalker though and hope that you have enough dps to finish him off.

This dude is one mean customer for sure. Something might be up with him. I managed to down him solo as an i142ish arms warrior by playing a game of hit and run. I brought second wind and storm bolt, watched when I had the dot, IP when I could manage it, trying to keep stack low then bolting and leaping away to the other corner to let second wind kick in. I didn't have a spectacular pull of anima powers as far as I remember.
He might be a little too strong.

You simply won't be able to do this as a shadow priest without lots of high damage Anima Powers. You won't be able to meet the DPS check of ~2000 DPS and it's even harder for you because you don't have an interrupt up enough to cancel his damage buff.
If you really want to do this, you'll need several Anima Power buffs that increase your statistics and you will probably want to take Last Word to interrupt as possible as well as pick up Mind Bender so you have two aggro drops if it's really necessary.

This guy was pure pain, but I finally did it. Ret paladin here. I wiped 4 times and lost my first run on the boss, I had &*!@ powers and I kinda rushed there because I wanted to finish before maintenance but I failed. After servers back up, it was 6 am but I needed to finish before reset. I finally did it on second run after using like 3 lives at boss and finishing at 0.
So few tips for ret paladins; for 3rd layer. ( I was venthyr covenant)
*Go slow and gather as much as power you can.
*If you find an epic avenger wrath %100 more damage, you hit the jackpot. This made it a hundred times easier.
*I got many powers included %30 more main stat but you cannot jump, increased health for every rat you kill and many more. But they were very generic except the epic I mentioned earlier.
*I wiped a lot before because I only had 2 interrupts so I took blinding light spec on this last try and it helped.
*Kiting is a must between cooldowns if you lack the dps, and hand of hindrance worked wonders, I just ran away with Divine steed while he was hindered and it gave me enough time. Use hindrance whenever you run away.
*If you manage to run away and put distance, the debuffs on you disappear, so kiting is really good if you cant nuke at first minutes.
So the way I did it, you start the fight and use every offensive skill with Avenging Wrath, I lowered his HP to around %60 and then I use my venthry aeo damage/heal ability and kited around the boss, hindering him and spamming heals myself and stunning as much as possible. Not to die on the second part is the hardest, you have to run away in circles and slow him to wait for cooldowns.
It was around %40-45 hp at that time all my cooldowns were back, then I popped my racial purge ability of blood elves ( thank god I had that) and I nuked the unbuffed boss down. So this is how I ended up winning, people said don't kite but if you don't have the dps you have to kite. You have to get out of range to dispel yourself and use any ability to dispel his stacks at the last part.
This was total cancer especially for a noob like me who returned to wow after 8 years and plays a class he doesn't know. ( first time any melee)

For Havoc Demon Hunters, if you get any health anima buffs that boost your life focus on doing as much damage to this boss as fast as possible because this guy wont do enough damage to kill you quickly. Start with Metamorphosis and go wild. When that ends use Eye Beam so you get it back again for a short time When that ends use haste trinkets if you have them to speed up your attacks again and hit Blur. I was also popping Sinful Brand (Venthyr). Eye Beam popped up again so I could go wild for a short time, and then the boss was about dead. 184 ilvl on Layer 3.

Managed on my 4th try as a fire mage, ilvl 156, layer 2 this week.
Quite the challenge as there were absolutely no damage animas, however utilizing every single cc you have is the key, as well as interrupting him when possible and using dragons breath to interrupt his slam if you can. I found that he breaks out of dragon's breath easily, however ring of frost works very well on him. I did frost nova into blinking away and casting ring of frost when he gets out from frost nova, this gives me a good 10 sec for my cds to recover. I then burst him again and use alter time so i can heal back up after he punched me a bit. Dragon's breath > blink out, when %^&* hits the fan ice block to get another 10 sec on cds.
I think popping time warp off the bat and using combustion with rune of power talent , cc him and get away and spam fire balls while your fire blasts get back up, then cc and get away again and place a rune of power and do a second combo (although combustion isn't up yet) was probably the most efficient in terms of damage.
Good luck to anyone handling this dude before they nerf him.

I haven't been glad I was a mage on too many previous Torghast levels, but this is one fight where I had no problem. 1st try. I had the fire juggler anima power, but noticed it didn't interrupt his intimidating presence. My blast wave didn't work either so in what I thought I would be a vain effort I tried spellstealing it. sure enough he lost it and I gained the stacks. If you are speced into "Chrono Shift" I found that spamming Arcane barrage and stopping to nuke when u have Mirror image up helped immensely in outranging his AoE ground slam and keeping myself relatively safe. Took 2 tries and got him down on floor 4 with 173 iLvl.
Also didn't interrupt a single one of his casts and at the end got my BiS Lego Memory.

Okay. Finally.
After 15+ deaths on this guy from multiple level 8 runs on my Blood DK (he had so much health), I took the time to study him after I saw him again. Tanks with lack of damage please take note of the below to help you out -
Every 4th swing, immediately afterwards he will do one of two things:
1. Cast his ground slam, then immediately casts his stacking buff
2. Casts his stacking buff
By counting his swings out loud, I was able to hover my fingers over one of my two abilities to quickly and reliably interrupt his buff cast.
So, it goes one of two ways -
Swing 1
Swing 2
Swing 3
Swing 4
Ground Slam Ability
Stacking Buff
or
Swing 1
Swing 2
Swing 3
Swing 4
Stacking Buff
I've had a couple go-rounds where I get super lucky with the anima powers and don't need to focus on interrupts too much, but most runs don't allow for that luck, so this is how I have found to beat him as a tank with not much damage.
Hope it helps someone else! Pray for a different end-boss!

Veng DH on layer 8 strategy that I used:
You have several class abilities to mitigate his stacking buff; first of all consume magic is the easiest mitigation tool. If you are a blood elf arcane torrent is another one. Outside of that, count his swings per a previous comment, you can time sigil of silence + disrupt to get stacks to fall off. Between these abilities and your damage reduction CDs it should be a pretty easy fight, though it took me a couple of iterations to get the sigil + disrupt cycling down.

that lowering of resistance by 20% buff and the a 30 sec cool down on

certainly helped a lot.
Buffed Haste and Versatility wherever possible as options when they came up.
Did Mindbender to take the agro off at the start - zapped through him with

Impossible as ilvl 195 Frost Mage. No idea how you do this without 40 anima powers and perfect ones at that.

On 12/29/20 soloed this mob as an ilvl 151 disc priest. Did not have a great batch of anima powers, just a hodge podge, but the Art of Phantasmal Healing and Power Overwhelming saved the day. The former makes Shadow Mend instant cast for 5 phantasma/cast, the the later allowed me to spam Mind Blast while Power Infusion was up.
Opened with Shadow Fiend followed by a standard dps rotation, then started kiting. I held on to around 140 phantasma which allowed me to use the instant Shadow Mends as needed. Otherwise it was run-run-run, spamming Purge the Wicked and Penance when up. If I got the lead on the mob, I would stop and dps it some more, but mostly the job was done via kiting. I did pop PI while kiting, and that allowed me to get off multiple Mind Blasts while running, which did a good sized chunk of damage.
Cheers, and good luck!

171 Marks Hunter on layer 6.
Honestly, I wasn't able to react in time to hit the interrupts, but I still took him down by just being an appropriate distance away; popping defensive cooldowns on my pet when they needed it; and rezzing my pet once (which I popped turtle for). You can even do freezing trap to get another rez off if you need to. I beat him my 2nd try, as I didn't use any items my first one, which I've learned to do; essentially just throw the first attempt to learn the mechanics then pop everything (dps potion is what I had this time) for the 2nd try.
I can definitely see how this one is tough for melee, but at range it's fairly easy.

Even post-nerf (I don't know if he was nerfed), he is clearly too strong...managed to down him as solo BM hunter after reviving my pet more than 10 times, removing his ice block buff as often as possible and getting lucky with the 20% hp chance to insta-kill.
Just don't let the enrage stack and get lucky I guess.

168 UHDK here.
After getting absolutely ass blasted in Soul Forges 6, I decided to try Upper Reaches 6. Whoa, what a difference, this #$%^'s so easy I thought to myself... until I wiped once on this sob. I looked him up - 'yep, there goes 60 minutes of my life' I thought. I managed to down him against all odds, with my last remaning life, purely because I got lucky with my build and had a @#$% ton of anime powers. To be able to do it, I used venthyr door of shadows with 80% dodge for 20 seconds and also empowered sacrificial pact to keep my health up.
It is only doable if your class has an interrupt with under 15s CD and you apply it IMPECCABLY. This ^&*! is way too unforgiving imo.
That being said, I got a 'Sense of Pride and Accomplishment™' along with 2 memories and ~500 soul ash.

This boss is easy as a BM hunter at ilvl 161.
1] I'm not really that good of a player, just casual.
2] I never even had to move, I just stood in one place.
3] I never went below 80% health.
4] My pet never went below 40% health.
5] I never had to pop a potion or even use Exhilaration.
6] I missed several interrupts.
After reading all the posts and comments, it's pretty obvious that
this boss has been nerfed as of December 31st, 2020. Maybe all these
posts about "Better call a whaaaambulace, I don't wanna die, whaaaaa"
had an effect on the devolopers so they made the boss easier to kill.
But seriously, maybe sort the comments from "highest rated" to
"newest first" to get a better idea of the current situation.

As a druid if you have the anima power Orb of Replenishment you can cast Entangling Roots at him a few times before you start the fight. This will spawn 3-5 25% health globs to use during the fight.

Okay I'm really surprised no druid has typed this but for those who are unfortunately playing druid and didn't get the best anima powers to defeat him. You can chain cyclone him to get rid of his buffs.

Twisting Corridors, Level 1, Final Floor (18). As a 192 MM Hunter, impossible. Tried a straight burn with counter shot when available; straight burn ignoring interrupts; tried kiting; tried utilizing smoke bombs; switched up between ferocity, tenacity, and no pet; flasked/fed/potions...nothing. Spent almost two hours working through here just to get stopped by an unkillable boss. Very disappointing. Hopefully gets addressed soon, otherwise just going to have to hope I get a different final boss when I try again.

Just got this bstrd on TC layer 2, 3.3 mil hps, his melee attacks hit my pet for 25k, even with the health buffs from powers my pets only had 37k hps so 2 hits dead
Am I supposed to believe blizz thinks the strat to beat these flr 18 bosses for a BM is to perma snare them, revive your pets for 4 seconds out of every ten and hope they do some damage for the 5 seconds they are alive?
I had 45% stamina increase plus 90% dam reduction for 10sec on misdirection which was being used on cooldown...didnt matter pets died in a matter of seconds after every revive.
....Done with the tower until this nonsense is nerfed or they give real pet hp buff powers like Locks are getting ( my guildie got powers for his pet that gave it 1 mil plus hps, they dont even rely on their pets for damage like BM's do)
At ilvl 198 with a rank 4 lego I should beable to have a chance to beat the boss of a layer 2 TC, this isn't a learn to play problem this is a poor development problem.

Shadow Priest (ilevel 211) who just did Twisting Corridors layer 1 checking in. What the others said, this is a load of crap.
I managed to get him down on my very last attempt, by the skin of my teeth, but it was horrible. Admittedly I didn't bring drums, still haven't remembered to buy some of the new ones.
Comments here say you have to kill him in 1:30 or it's GG. Eheehee, he had 3.4 million health. The fight took exactly twice that long.
I generally stack the power that makes you do more damage to CCed enemies and get the instant cast mind blast during Power Infusion one, then stun them for my voidform burst and watch those mindblasts chew through their health. This guy and his 3.4 million weren't impressed. The only thing saving my hide was the fact I had the "Fade creates a copy of you" power combined with CD reduction on Fade. One attempt I almost had him (7%), but then he caught up to me and meleed me for 130k. So... yeah, I really had to Fade on CD and then either attack or heal myself while he attacked the copy.
I wouldn't mind so much if a) it weren't so disproportionate to the rest of the place, which is largely a dull faceroll and b) by the time you get to level 18 on TC, you've been in there for like TWO HOURS. I was getting ready to throw my monitor out the window.
Edit 2 weeks later:
I've now cleared Layer 8 of Twisting Corridors, and while I didn't get Synod as a floor 18 boss again, I can definitely say I was doing it wrong. I never struggled like this again.
1) Play Discipline, not Shadow. The earlier floors will be a bit slow, but the scaling is a lot more favourable.
2) Stack stamina increases + Life Barrier + Reflective Shield so your clone (the fade clones are mandatory, walk in and out until the first power gives them to you TBH) lasts until you can spawn a new one (2x fade CD decrease ASAP) and mobs chew themselves out on it
3) Mawrat bag + Painbreaker Psalm + Catharstick + multiple stacks of Painwheel = kill last boss by just alternating Purge the Wicked and Shadow Word: Death. Though I didn't even get a Catharstick on my layer 8 run - that part's not mandatory.
4) Don't skip stuff. Taking 2 hours in this place is annoying, but going into the last boss with 90+ powers as opposed to 65 as I did with Synod will definitely help.

Twisting Corridors: Layer 1
Floor:18
Class: Druid
Spec: Balance
ILVL: 181
Deaths: 7
Time: 6 min approx (the successful try)
The fight starts out easy but as time goes by he starts doing more damage thanks to ,by the time it reaches 20%hp it kills you in one hit.
Strategy: As a druid I stayed with the entire encounter and using , , and (the latter only if he got too close) thus avoiding damage meanwhile I hit him from afar, as soon as my control skill ends, I run off thanks to until I could stop him again with some skill and hit him again repeating the cycle, before running off I made sure he had , and as well as my covenant spell (Maldraxxus) so that while I was fleeing I would do damage to him. Also use the collapsed structures or any terrain that you can put between him and you, he never "jump" them giving you a little more time and space. When he reached 10% hp he was too fast to run off so I just stopped and bursted him using while I hit him followed by and finally killing him, in the end I think I had time to cast one more instant spell before he killed me.
I applied the previous strategy since my second try and even so I died 7 times so WARNING extreme precautions when it reaches 20% if it hits you it kills you and it still has a little damage left over also is very fast so make sure you have enough control skills.
edit:Due to the anima abilities I was unable to go backward or jump.

As affliction warlock iLevel 190 I couldn't do it. The first attempt was the closest since my minion had the +500% damage and health buff, which he lost after a failed first attempt. Every time he casts
干涉猛击
it increases damage from the last time. I could withstand 4, the 5th put me in my Night Fae pod, and 6th killed me. I interrupted it with fears, but he seems to recast as soon as he regains control... I had no problem returning to 100% health after each slam, up until the 1 shot ones...
I've tried a few different tactics (all failed) :
- I started with a straight DPS race, failed at about 33% health remaining, plus it cost my minion his buff.
- I tried distancing myself when I saw him casting
威慑英气
knowing that slam was coming, but the loss in DPS made it worse
- I tried kiting him with my tank pet using the "go to" for pet, thinking he can't cast if he's moving... still cost too much DPS time
- I tried using a DPS pet and kiting him myself, only to realize that he stops running from time to time to cast slam anyway...
I took the time to clear every floor, so I know I had all the available anima powers and rescued souls... Maybe I'll wait until I have better gear, then rethink my anima choices and what to focus on...

Yesterday me and three friends encountered Synod as the last boss of Twisting Corridor layer 8, floor 18.
Besides
噬渊之喉
(which we failed Layer 6, floor 18), Synod is definently the second hardest boss.
Our team composition was:
DH Tank - Me
Monk WW
Hunter BM
Shaman Resto
We only managed to handle this boss due to the fact that we could Purge him frequently (DH, Hunter and Shaman could all purge his buff. Needed so he couldn't get buffed from
威慑英气
).
He did a smash that second time it hit, practically killed the entire team, except me. The 3 of them ressed and went in to fight again.
This time the hunter and Shaman kept max distance (40yards) and when he did the smash, all 3 went out of max distance (41+ yards). No damage dealt to those 3.
I as a tank managed 5 or 6 smashes. One more would have killed me. So you need to rush the DPS aswell.
Best of luck to you all

Just met this guy on 12th floor of Layer 2 Twisting corridors. As a fire mage I was ready to get stomped, but luckily I had the right anima talents. Basically I overwhelmed the guy with my 6 intelligent mirror images, exploding fireblast and undestroyable frost nova. I stole his shield every time and don't think he casted more than 3 spells in the whole fight. The right talents made me win easy, but without all this it would have been impossible. Good luck! ^^

Just did this on a demonology warlock, solo, Twisting Corridors layer 6 floor 18. I zoned in and out of TC until I got
地狱亲和契约
on floor 1. Then I kept my Wrathguard alive through the whole run. Add in 3 x
厚皮契约
and 18 x
奥伯勒隆之耐
, and my demon had 2.2m HP while I had 192.2k.
I pulled Synod to the top of the stairs to give myself room to move, but I didn't need it. I just stayed at max range and spammed him with Dreadstalkers and Hand of Gul'dan, throwing in Scouring Tithe (Kyrian ability), Demonic Tyrant, and Vilefiend on cooldown. I didn't even need to use a healthstone. I did use a couple of smoke bombs, but I don't know if they did any good or if he was just nerfed heavily enough that I managed, with the right abilities.

This is a good example of how this is all so unbalanced.
I did this guy on Level 8 Upper Reaches on my 180 ilevel affic lock and I barely had to do anything. He didn't touch me, he barely touched my VW (only had to heal him towards the end).
Was a piece of cake.
I was all scared after reading all this, bought smoke bombs and everything and didn't even use one.
Some of these fights are ridiculously easy if you have a pet. I'm sure if I'd done this on my mage it would have been complete hell.
Edit: Tried to do this same guy on my 180 ilevel Ret Paladin and couldn't do it. Got him down to 17% and that was as close as I could get. Also, only had 18 Anima Powers which seems just stupid, I think you normally have around 30 at this point. Good job Blizz on your lazy RNG addiction...
Edit2: Took my Ret Pally and ran the same Torghast (Upper Reaches) but at Layer 6 (tired of wasting my time). I got 29 Anima Powers and was lucky enough to have the vendor selling
须臾狂乱药水
and got the boss
帕特里西安·克伦威尔
instead. Just destroyed this boss (He also had 406k hp compared to 530k hp of Layer 6 version). Just shows you how idiotic the lazy RNG can be in this game.

Layer 7 TC floor 18, 2/12/2021 after the nerf, only torment that effected the boss was a 15 percent physical buff (the others were mobs spawn out of combat).
ilvl 213 Feral, boss was *almost* impossible. I had excellent anima powers, including +100% dmg convokes, a free incarn talent, one of those +30% dmg pots, the unlimited barkskin/healing/speed, +50% dmg with 3 bleeds and 99k HP. +100% health "orbs". All my lives + 4 extra life pots. 48 sec of barkskin, 60% bleed damage.
Synod had 7.8million HP. Best failed attempts were about 30% of his life remaining, and both of those lasted long enough for me to use a second convoke (1minute).
Things that do not work:
chaining cyclone does not drop his stacks, in fact, you cannot actually chain cyclone at all (it fails if it's up already on this guy) and if you try to time it so it clips as it drops, his first ability is an interrupt.
blinding smoke capsules - I think this is bogus. Intimidating presence is a buff he casts on himself and has nothing to do with his ability to target *you*, only his ability to target himself. Either way, I tried capsules and had the aura that prevents being targeted and neither helped (because he casts on himself).
interrupts - yeah, you can, but you can't get them all since his recast is shorter than your 15sec interrupt cd. I was never fast enough to interrupt with Maim so i don't think Typhoon would work either, it has to be something off the GCD.
kiting - this is pointless. it just means he can buff himself.
Having the 90sec immunity buff - I did have this the first time, and maybe it would have worked, but... i tried to shadowmeld+rake for a fresh empowered rake and he reset. I am not sure it would have mattered because by then he had 4 stacks and im not sure if I could have burned him in time.
What did work, attempt 8:
Watch his stack timer.
Let him get 1 stack.
When he goes to cast again, interrupt.
When buff timer gets down to 4 seconds remaining, cyclone. This will last long enough for him to drop the stack.
Repeat, fighting the boss at just one stack.
Even still, I barely killed him this way, but hopefully this helps some really angry druid.

Read most of the comments here and I still don't understand how he randomly smacked me for 300k. I was removing his purge-able buff, interrupting his other cast, had my spikes up(vengeance dh), and was only about 40 seconds into the fight. He hit me once for 30k, then 300k. Not a special attack either, just a random smack.
Fortunately I beat him the next round and there wasn't any random one shot auto attacks, so it can't be part of his rotation. I hope that's a one in ten thousand glitch or something. This was in part 3 of the twisting corridors, level 18 of course.
Oh also don't get the ravenous anima power skeletal servant lol. That thing does 7 damage and kept breaking him out of fear. If I wanted to take a breather to get cd's back it was impossible because that little bastard would punch him for critter damage and wake him up. Which is bizarre because normally Sigil of Misery keeps people feared through a good amount of damage.

I encountered
Synod
on Twisting Corridors, Layer 7 level 18. Before we get into that, a little about me. I'm a 218 iLevel, AOTC Havoc DH that earned Rival (1800) in PvP. I went Vengence for this run because typically Vengence has an easier time with the end-run bosses.
When I got to the 18th floor of Twisting Corridors, I still had 8 lives (having only died once and bought the life pots that I could). I had 81 Anima powers, mostly geared towards defense, with some offensive ones thrown about - notably the immolation aura-centered ones, reduced Sigil of Flame / Fiery Brand cooldown, and some other useful ones that I can't remember now.
Synod is a prime example of Blizzard not playing the game that they tune. Synod is pretty "basic" at his core. He does 3 auto attacks, on the 4th attack slot, he will either use
干涉猛击
which does a pretty negligible amount of Damage, I found. Or he will use
威慑英气
which doesn't do damage but reduces your haste by 1%, and healing & movement speed by 5% per stack. If he used Slam, he will follow it up with Intimidating Presence, every time. However, this is interruptable if you're quick enough (or have the 30% reduced casting speed Anima Power).
While you are playing time-the-interrupt with the boss, he will be slowly gaining stacks of
非自然之力
. This doesn't hurt that bad at first, but once you start reaching the upper limits of stacks, it really starts to take its toll. Allegedly, this will stack up to 50, and then reset back to 1, but the fight never lasts long enough for me to test that theory.
Also, while fighting him, he will periodically put on
凝固
which reduces his dmg taken by 10% per stack. This can be cleansed using
奥术洪流
or
吞噬魔法
.
When I encountered Synod, he had 8.6
MILLION
health Keep that in mind.
Okay. You now know the fight mechanics. Now on to
HOW
to actually approach the fight. I never got him below 15%, before getting one shot with 300k health out of Metamorphasis and just shy of 500k with Meta activated.
The beginning of the fight is pretty straightforward, throw on Fiery Brand, pop Demon Spikes, and begin generating as many Souls as possible, using them only when absolutely necessary. It's also recommended that you take the Anima power that generates bubbles of health when you engage the boss. They're good to have around for "Oh Shoot" moments.
Once you've begun the fight, the name of the game is keeping yourself alive while doing the most amount of damage possible. I'd recommend Macro'ing your Sigil's to drop on your player, and timing them as appropriately as possible. Drop Sigil of Flame on cooldown, and the same with using Fiery brand. If you don't, he will kill you in one rotation.
You will have to eat an
威慑英气
in between interrupts I've found. I wasn't always great with my timing of Sigils, so I'd probably recommend using Quickened Sigils talent for this fight. So essentially it will boil down to this if you're only utilizing your Disrupt ability:
- First rotation was interrupted.
- Second rotation was applied.
- Third rotation was interrupted.
You'll keep going back and forth like this, interrupting one, receiving one, and then interrupting another. This timing will allow you to drop your stacks of the debuff before the subsequent ones get through. It's okay if you allow 2-3 stacks to apply, but do your best to interrupt the next one, because, after that, you're gonna be in for a bad time.
You'll do this song and dance of DPS'ing, interrupting, and consuming his buffs, for roughly 6-8 minutes (the longest fight I had was 6 mins 57 seconds. After which, you'll get to claim on WoWhead that you beat one of the hardest bosses in Twisting Corridors, like all of the sub 200 iLevel alts on this thread that ran into him in a normal Torghast.
If you need a breather, don't try and kite the boss. It won't work. Each stack of
非自然之力
also increases his movement speed, remember? I tried testing whether proximity would allow for this to drop, but found that it ticks regardless. It's just a time-gated thing, not a proximity thing. So he'll get stronger the longer you fight him, regardless of whether he's hitting you or not.
I also found that you can get some "free" dmg by using Sigil of Misery, and then standing next to him with Immolation aura is active. Don't auto-attack him, just stand there and catch your breath. When it's about to break, re-apply Fiery Brand, and begin the dance once again. If you're lucky, you will kill the boss. If you're not, you will have wasted 3 hours one-shotting floors only to be bested by a poorly optimized encounter.
Final Thoughts
I have enjoyed the grind that is Twisting Corridors. Truly. I have done 6 layers solo and have loved every second of it. What I do not like, however, is how over-tuned the last floor bosses are, compared to their counterpart floors. You can enjoy your run, get great Anima powers, spend 2+ hours clearing floors 1-17 only to be stonewalled by an encounter that was designed to be unbeatable by lazy developers and poor testers on floor 18. I have yet to encounter anyone who was able to beat Synod at the higher levels of Twisting Corridors.
I did my run flawlessly, I even accessed the "Secret Anima Room" via the Lost Dredger. I purchased every "smart" anima power possible, to ensure that my survivability was as high as it could go while not sacrificing offensive capabilities. And still, this boss was unbeatable because he's poorly tuned. Others say he's a "DPS Check", and sure that may be the case but why design Twisting Corridors with defensives in mind, when the final boss is an offensive race to the death?
Here are some independent ways I think this tuning issue could be solved:
Allow us to dispel one stack of the Unnatural Power at a time. This could be a "chance" situation whether it dispels the DMG buff, or the Defensive buff that he receives.
Allow us to swap talents & armor at the final vendor after we die, none of this "Know the encounter is gonna crush you and exactly what to do before you engage, else you're locked out for the rest of your attempts" nonsense. Had I known this was a DPS race, I would have swapped back to Havoc for my attempts. But I had assumed that my 17 previous floors experience was applicable to the final floor of the instance. Manageable but still dangerous.
Limit the stacks of Unnatural Power to a more manageable amount. There is absolutely no reason he should be dealing 300% DMG with his auto-attacks. An even better idea, allow this buff to only apply to
干涉猛击
. You have my full support to even increase the DMG it does at that point, to balance out the loss of auto DMG. At least this is dodgeable if you're quick enough.
All in all, Synod is a beast. And I applaud anyone who beats him on layer 7 or 8 of Twisting Corridors in his current state. Especially if you're a class that doesn't have a companion. I shouldn't have to endure 5,970,568 in auto-attacks only to be told the last 3 hours of my life were wasted.

All about the DPS race. Downed him as 187 Fury Warrior in Twisting Corridors Floor 18 (Layer 1). Repulsive Pennant, Ancient Rubble were big help, plus the usual spamming of Enraged Regen and Ignore Pain. Can't emphasize enough how useful Ogundimmu's Fist anima power is (Pummel knocks him back and stuns him for 4 sec, with only 15 sec cooldown). I supplemented Ancient Rubble with Gargolmar's Shattered Hand, so was dropping a hard-hitting AOE on every stun. Throw in intim. shout now and then, and it was pretty smooth. Hope this helps somebody.

We just tried this with a 221BM hunter and a 219 rogue. He had 24 million hp on layer 8, floor 18. We had 12 deaths to down him. He kept one shotting my pet and despite the fact that i had over 200k hp for both myself and my pet, and the rogue was doing like 300k, we couldn't manage to down him, despite almost constant snaring/stunning. 0/10 stars

Just got mowed with this guy twice before keysmashing my way to victory.
Final boss in level 1 of Twisting Corridors, ilvl 192 Necrolord Blood DK. I had substantial health and potency buffs due to being lucky with anima powers, but besides that, just charged in and popped everything I had. Icebound Fortitude, ghoul summon (even though he died pretty fast. Poor dude.) Rune Tap, Vampiric Blood, and Marrowrend with the bone shield helped with the physical damage, too.
Interrupted his Intimidating Presence and Interrupting Slam spells with Death Grip and Mind Freeze, kept my health up with Fleshcraft and using healing abilities mostly.
TLDR; pop everything. Interrupt what you can.
And pray.

Layer 7, Floor 18 - 6.8 million health
ilvl 230 Guardian Druid.
I highly recommend being at Exalted / Appreciative with
Ven'ari
. This will enable you to purchase the
Possibility Matrix
. This drastically reduces the chance you will be forced to take unwanted powers and will provide a much more streamlined anima power selection as you progress through the Twisting Corridors.
This particular successful run i was not getting lucky with health increasing anima powers and didn't get
Secret Spices
until about Floor 16. As a result I only had just over 200k hp when engaging this boss, when normally I would have around 400k.
So what are the anima powers that are actually worth a damn when fighting a dps-race boss like this as, specifically, a Guardian druid? I can't speak for other tank classes, but I find damage from your Druid class abilities to be insignificant, with the sole exception of an enhanced Moonfire. I will list the most meaningful ones I had below:
Damage:
Corruption Antenna
- extremely hard hitting Dot.
Stormcycle Peridot
- only applies if you have means of doing Nature damage, which is not an issue for Druids. Maintains a strong Dot on the boss.
Finger of Frozen Fury
- does more damage in some fights than others and generally more useful in trash packs, but has synergy with Frostchipper for single target.
Frostchipper
- a little bit RnG, depending on how often Fingers procs, but dealt decent damage in my successful attempt.
Draught of Midday Calm
- a basic anima power, but multiple applications, combined with the Guardian Druid
Galactic Guardian
talent results in significant Moonfire throughput.
Draught of Waning Twilight
- provides a large increase in damage to the mutltiple Dots you have on the boss.
and the big one:
Blood-Tinged Teeth
- 3x stacks of this anima power keep a constant +45% damage up on the multiple Dot's you have on the boss; absolutely massive for reducing the overall fight length, which is important in a dps-race.
Others:
Coalesced Spirit Droplet
- I had my Convoke on a 1 minute CD.
Energy Focusing Crystal
- synergizes with the above for effective burst damage.
Circlet of Weeds
- another basic anima power, but provides massive damage output when you consider how much damage is coming from Dots. Also benefits
Frenzied Regeneration
.
Bottle of Moonshine
- 3 stacks of this is a flat 30% damage reduction. Godlike for survivability.
Bloodgorged Leech
- excellent healing throughput.
Affinity Stones
- possibly my favourite Druid anima power. This will provide excellent healing through an empowered
Ysera's Gift
.
Moon-Spirit Essence
- provides more use of your main cooldown.
As stated above, your standard class abilities may not cut it at this difficulty and a lot of the other damage increasing anima powers don't seem to be as effective, though mileage may vary with other specs, who obviously have access to their own class based anima powers. I also understand sometimes certain anima powers just don't drop, or don't drop in sufficient quantities.
Running with the
Draught of Deep Focus
legendary is viable as
Ursoc's Fury Remembered
isn't as effective in single target situations, but I found the latter is a life saver in dealing with tricky trash packs from Floor 16 onwards.
Hopefully, this helps a few people just fine tune their anima power selection a bit.
