I saw one of these in a Comp Stomp briefly. We were bottling up the Alliance NPCs after 5 capping, and I decided to look right from the stables to see if any hand snuck by. I saw a weird object I didn't recognize, and scrolled over it. It was called "Secret Fish". I tried to click on it but it disappeared as I got close.

I'm not sure what these are, or what they're about. I got here by searching "Secret Fish" in WoWhead.

I saw one of these in Heroic Darkshore Warfront. I clicked on it and got 1 x Midnight Salmon and 1 x Lane Snapper.

Pretty worthless imo.

隐秘之鱼 appears as a fish-in-a-bubble that is only able to be seen and looted while using the 隐秘之鱼护目镜. (Players who are in a party with someone who has the goggles activated are also able to see and loot the bubbles.)

As of patch 9.0.2, an item called 最隐秘的鱼 can be looted out of them. It has been confirmed that this is obtainable from all Shadowlands zones.

Looting the 最隐秘的鱼 automatically gives the quest 最隐秘的鱼, which is turned in to 丹妮尔·渔钓 and rewards x20 隐秘之鱼鱼饵. Using the Lures creates a Secret Fish with a unique ID, and clicking on that buffs the player with the 抓鱼 spell, which also applies this Secret Fish appearance.

Additional lures can be purchased from Danielle after handing in the quest, but they have a unique limit of 20.

As of the time of this writing it isn't clear what this does or is used for, but it is under investigation in the WoW Secret Finding Discord. I will update with more information when/if I get it!

UPDATE: While using the Secret Fish Lure tonight, I was able to apply additional visuals to the lure. I first applied a 荧光软泥样品 to myself, and then used the lure, which added a glow onto my fish appearance. Then I went to a slime cat, used the Secret Fish Lure again, gained the fish appearance, and then pet the slime cat to successfully add another visual layer with the 恶心 debuff. This does not work if you pet the cat first, the lure has to be used before petting the cat. I have added screenshots to the 隐秘之鱼鱼饵 page.

I was waiting by the darkmoon rabbit spawn during the faire and these kept popping up constantly near the cave entrance. Only time I've ever seen it before.

Found a Secret Fish in "The Bubble Bath" in Waking Shores, it's interactable but as soon as you get close to it or are able to click it, it despawns and re-spawns in the vicinity within line of sight and nothing else seems to happen.
I've tried catching it a couple times and it seems to spawn in a circle around the bath area.
Note that i do not have any of the secret fish goggles or other related items.

Just as a note, it is possible to receive fishing mounts from the bubbles that spawn from the Secret Fish Goggles. I watched my brother get the Pond Nettle mount while we were farming for one of the fish in Krokuun.
