I was killing troggs around the Uncle T'Rog cave and he spawned on the ramp above shouting "You kill no Boggac friends!". The area was fairly quiet except for me, so it seems likely that trogg killing in that area is one of his spawn triggers.

been waiting for it for 3 hours and 20 minutes i guess there is something that trigger that rare to spawn

edit: after waiting 4 hours i wanted to try to kill that npc Moch'k Eight-Thumbs
and all the adds in the cave , it seems that moch'k eight thumbs is his freind and triggered that rare (im not 100% sure but thats what happened )

Kind of funny that this far into this patch being out people don't seem to know how he spawns.

I've killed a ton of Troggs (farming other items) and never seen him spawn. When he does spawn he tends to be up for awhile, ppl don't kill him fast for some reason. He does a zone wide emote when he spawns (as other poster mentions), so you should know when he's up.

I'm thinking it might be just a timer like Nazrokh says.

I saw him spawn while quest 我的鸡不能吃！ was active and everyone was killing troggs in the area.

Respawn time was 20 minutes.

Once spawned he yelled in the chat:

Boggac smash you, bash you!

Seems like he is way easier to kill while the quest is up.

If you're looking for the 黑胶唱片：永远的诺莫瑞根 I would skip this rare (unless you find him without any effort) and try to get it from 麦卡贡中和者. I waited for Boggac Skullbash to spawn for at least 3 hours during a drill rig day on the island and even killed mobs for the first 30 or 60 minutes of my camp (based on some comments here) and he never spawned.

killed troggs almost continuously for ~90 minutes around the area before he respawned (started right after he died)

So today, after so long, I finally got him to spawn. I don't think it matters whether it's drills day or not, you just have to kill lots of trogs (all around where they spawn, doesn't need to be near Boggac's area), I suggest creating a group for it. I did it with just one other person helping and we got Boggac to spawn in an hour or so (maybe less, I lost track of time to be fair).

I managed to have him spawn after 1hr 17min by rotating back and forth between the main trogg areas nearby his spawn location.

/way 56.4 35.3 Clear the open area and cave
/way 59.6 27.0 Make your way to the centre area and clear it
/way 64.0 28.4 Then clear these two caves

Simply kill all troggs that you see and he will eventually spawn. Good luck!

I never saw him spawn by himself even once in the two weeks I spent at Mechagon. Only spawned after I started killing an ungodly number of troggs for about 30 minutes, similar to Gear Checker Cogstar. Didn't matter where.

atm August 2024:
I didn't kill any trogs, I was on the other side of the island and there were no other players at least that I saw. The rares addon warned me, I went and killed it.
Chickens quest up. I don't do that quest.

Just finished a Reclamation Rig and within 10 seconds I got the pop up that he spawned. Rushed over and missed the kill but .. I feel like that couldn't be a coincidence. Happened at exactly 7:45PM EST. Will check back in 3 hours to see if there's any truth to the possible 3 hour spawn listed. Will edit, depending.

EDIT: Test failed. Just spawned at 8:27PM.
