Don't worry guys, you'll be back in robes once t9 hits. My main concern is lack of crit on tier pieces these days. They could stuff my undead mage into a pink tutu with bunny ears as long as it had tons of spellpower and crit.

There seems to be a problem with this piece on my draenei mage. Wearing this specific tunic adds red pants to your character which covers whatever pants you're wearing, even if you're not wearing pants. Think of it as wearing a red winter garb.

Can anyone give me a good reason not to put two Runed Cardinal Ruby in this?

I suppose Potent Ametrine and Purified Dreadstone aren't to be sniffed at, and going for the socket bonus helps towards activating Chaotic Skyflare Diamond but +22 seems a fair bit of spell power to give up for +16 crit and +10 spirit.

You can buy these for 58 emblems, just like Conqueror's Kirin Tor Hood. If you think the setbonus is worth the trouble, go for it. However, if you want to spend your badges on other improvements, i think Embrace of Madness is a pretty good replacement for the chest. For the head is suggest Gaze of the Unknown, both available in TotC HC. They really made that gear too good to ignore it, and blindly spend your badges on T8.5.
