The icon still has the white number "5" in the lower right corner, Wowhead displays a "20". I guess this hints that it is not intended to be a build-once-use-forever item with cooldown, but an item that allows you to sell at the price of the reagents, X Saronite bars, which can still be useful.

10 Saronite Bars means 20 Saronite Ore. If we set it roughly equal to Adamantite in value (~2.50 Gold), each charge would cost you:

20 Charges: 1.25 Gold each
5 Charges: 4 Gold each

I hope they settle for 20 charges, if they do not make it indestructible, of course.

The 20 on the item page means they stack to 20.
The 5 on the recipe means the recipe makes 5 at a time.

They are separate items without charges. If they had charges it would say so in the description like Eye of the Night

It looks like an female gnome dwarf looking creature, it walks around on 2 legs, and yes it does
"leave" when the time is up. Its a nice looking bot , but sadly does not repair anything. I should have taken a picture of one on beta, either way it seems to take very long to upload pictures on here.

I don't think that's a bug, if you look at other items like the froststeel tube, there is a tab in wow head that says what bags it can be placed in IE engineering bags. but if you notice that there is no such tab for this item hence one could deduce that they don't fit in any profession bags.

Since it says that it "buys anything" I got the foolish notion that maybe it would buy all those trinkets and items obtained from seasonal quests, you know the ones you can neither DE or sell. It doesn't. You can only sell items that you would normally be able to sell to a vendor. For some reason it also sells salvaged scrap metal and ruined scrap metal, I have no idea what these are for but they are grey items so maybe just there for effect.

Raw mats to make 5 repair bots:

Scrapbot: 20 x . Engineering (425) and Mining (400).

Field Repair Bot 74A: 80 x , 20 x and 30 x . Engineering (300), Jewelcrafting (1) and Mining (250).

Field Repair Bot 110G: 6 x , 16 x , 16 x and 1 x . Engineering (360) and Mining (325)

You could get the Saronite in less than 10 minutes flying around Sholazar Basin, If you get the mats yourself the scrapbot is much easier in my opinion.

Edit: This was a reply to a post saying that the mats for the Scrapbot are harder to get than the others, which has apparently been deleted.

comes the patch 3.0.8, the scrapbots can be also used as repair bots.

seeing how each bot costs 2 saronite bars, it is an amazing deal. Lot more engineers will not be afraid to put down bots more than twice per raid even.

ONLY downside would be that it does not sell reagents.

to get the schematic:
Go to Storm Peaks, around coords (37,44) Its the "Grom'Arsh Crash Site" Theres a library below there,

Kill any of the Library Guardians.
They will drop a quest item, SCRAP-E Access card.
Go inside this library and hand the guy 4 Handfuls of Cobalt Bolts, and 5 Overcharged Capacitors.

In 3.0.3 and below scrapbot couldnt repair items which were broken. In 3.0.8 they fixed it, and scrapbot can now repair broken items

Scrapbot now repairs as of 3.0.8.

However, he unfortunately doesn't sell any reagents and 110G doesn't sell WotLK reagents yet either.

Edit: He now sells reagents, on a limited supply though. It will not completely resupply your entire raid, but it should hold people over until the raid ends.

Just a note that these things do walk around a bit when you launch them. Make sure to put a mark on them if you use them during a raid so they don't get lost in the crowds of angry raiders trying to repair.

Do the quest on this you get from this card. Then you get another quest "The Prototype Console" http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=12889 This is the quest that teaches you how to make the Scrapbot Construction Kit.

No regent vending sucks... Other than stacking in larger amounts and being at level 80 comparatively easier to make, how does this surpass the existing bot? Hell, I still have 40 of the old type from leveling engineering in Burning Crusade.

As of patch 3.1 Second time engineers can now relearn this schematic. Simply enter the Library and talk to the scrap bot mob, he will give you a quest. Turn in to the console as before, and you have the schematic again (plus 10 free gold). I can confirm this having done it myself.

You do NOT need to kill the adds outside the library to start the chain over, just talk to the scrap bot mob inside.

Hope that saved some time, aggravation and possible GM tickets

Srapbots now have guild bank allowances for repairs, which is awesome for raids. Jeeves also has this repair option.

That may have be correct at the time, but at patch 4.3.xx you have to get the access card to get the quest :)

I have a Jeeves, but since these are so cheap to make (basically two saronite bars/four saronite ore each, in batches of five), I keep a stack of them with me and use them when I don't need specific use of Jeeves. Since they don't share a cooldown, this helps me keep Jeeves available in a particularly busy situation.

I've been having some problems with this scrapbot, I would like to make a jeeves, I found the schematic; I have all the materials needed to do it axcept this. wowhead says that you get this from the quest "The Prototype Console", but the quest doesn't say so. But, even if it would say that the reward is the scrapbot kit, it doesn't make me complete it. The quest requests 4 handful of cobalt bolts, 5 overcharged capacitors and obviously the SCRAP-E Access Card, I have all of them but when I go in The Invetor's Library and try to complete the quest it doesn't make me press continue... I tried a thousand times, please can someone help me?

i think this has all changed now. the mobs are not needed for the card, but you can go right to the 原型机控制台 to get the 废物贩卖机器人制造器 now. i tried for about 15min to get the card, than i saw the quest marker when i went up near the console, and viola, got the schematic

Quest wasn't available for me just now. Had to go outside & kill a Library Guardian for the card to get the quest from the card. (Dropped 1st time). Then need 4 Cobalt bolts & 5x Overcharged Capacitors to hand in.

You will need to be a level 400+ engineer before you even consider getting this. Once you are 400+, make/buy 4 x and 5 x (you will need them for the quest) and go to the area around 38.06, 43.33 and kill a , they are level 79 with just over 5.4K health, easy kills. They will drop a . Take that to 37.69, 46.53 and turn it in (the entrance is at the top of the steps in this area). Complete the quest by going to the nearby console at 37.55, 46.82 as instructed and you will learn the recipe. Note, you will not get anything in your bags. The recipe to create the scrapbot will simply be added to your engineering recipe list.

This is useful for levelling your engineering up fairly cheaply, but hold on to them as you can vendor to them while out farming, or pull one out in a raid for repairs and you will be loved by all.

Once you have done the quest, the quest item will (most likely) not drop for you any more. Instead you need to interact with The Prototype Console in The Inventor's Library on the right side of SCRAP-E to learn the forgotten Schematic. The quest it gives is The Prototype Console and it teaches you the Schematic right away.

I killed the guardians at the terrace for a good 15 minutes and no SCRAP-E Access Card. It turned out I had done the quest already. But because I unlearnt Engineering at some point, I had forgotten it and couldn't get the item to drop again.

Then I took my other Engineer there and the card dropped from the first guardian I killed.
