I'm having some horrid luck with the droprate for these particular shoulders. The great thing about Botanica is that you can skip as many bosses as you want, but unfortunately, the trash makes doing this a waste of time. Laj just hates me, I guess...

Ive done botanica 32 times ive never once seen these drop. I was told by a gm they are meant to be very rare. Thats all well and good cept when the same thing drops off laj 26/32 runs same cloth leggings every time blizzard needs to tweak this cause this is in no way fun.

I have attempted to get these only 5 times, but they do seem rather elusive. Out of all the pieces to have I'd like to have this and the chest, leaving the rest to either pieces of bold with sockets or more stam and mitigation heavy sets. I don't care much for mana regen or damage as 88 is more than enough to hold mobs on me at this level.

I've run SH 17 times, never seen the gloves.

Laj is probably one of the easier bosses to get your Dungeon Set 3 from. It would be wise to start with him first.

Same experience here... it was half a dozen runs after Sha'tar exalted before this dropped for me.

An absolutely wonderful shoulder item! Probably the most important for a tankadin O.o I dare say, this dropped for me on my second run through BOT. Lucky me? Well I'm still trying to get the Breastplate of Many Graces, so don't get mad at my luck just yet LOL.

As for gems. I suggest a http://www.wowhead.com/?item=24033 and http://www.wowhead.com/?item=24036. Gem bonus helps a lot here :) But you could always just got for 2 Star of elune anyway. Not a huge loss ^^

I just got these last night and I must say I am thoroughly disappointed. I can't find a gem combination that makes these shoulders equal to Nexus-Guard's Pauldrons(http://www.wowhead.com/?item=30291) for raw avoidance. Any tanking paladins having trouble with this drop, do yourselves a favor and get these ridiculously easy to obtain shoulders in Netherstorm.

2.4 Defense Rating = 1 Defense = .04 Miss/Doge/Parry/Block

18.9 Dodge Rating = 1% Dodge

31.5 Parry Rating = 1% Parry

7.9 Block Rating = 1% Block

25 Agility = 1% Dodge

Put a +8 Dodge Rating Gem (Subtle Living Ruby) and a +12 Stamina Gem (Solid Star of Elune) and this piece goes to:

34 Sta = 340 HP
22 Int = 330 Mana
8 Dodge Rating = 0.42% Dodge
23 Defense Rating = 9.58 Defense = .38/.38/.38/.38 =1.53 total
+15 Spell Damage/Healing

Making total Mitigation 1.94% - .38% being Block

Compare that to the Nexus-Guard's Pauldrons:

17 Agility = 0.68% Dodge
27 Stamina = 270 HP
17 Shield Block Rating = 2.15%
26 Block Value = 26 extra damage stopped when you block.

Making total Mitigation 2.83% - 2.15% being Block

The main difference here is that the Nexus-Guard's Pauldrons only offer .68% avoidance but the block rating helps towards pushing crushing blows off the table.

Once you are uncrushable with other armor, Spaulders of the Righteousis a good piece to step up with by adding more Hit Points, Mana, Dodge, and Spell damage which Pallys use for threat.

Remember, not getting hit is better than just stopping some of the damage.

Fanblade Pauldrons ( http://www.wowhead.com/?item=27847 ) make a good upgrade though with the same stones (+12 sta and +8 dodge):

16 Str = Jack for Pallys except white damage.
34 Sta = 340 HP
8 Dodge Rating = 0.42% Dodge
20 Defense Rating = 8.33 Defense = .33/.33/.33/.33 = 1.33% Total
18 Parry Rating = 0.57%

Making total Mitigation 2.32% - .33% being Block

I have been here 16 times as my tankadin and they still havent dropped
I went 3 times as my hunter and it dropped on the second run

I hate to say this to all those getting horrible drop rates on this piece of loot, but I got it on first drop ^^

but this isn't a place to brag, I find these excellent should pieces untill you upgrade to Mantle of Abrahmis but the set bonus helps AoE Tanking on trash mobs, I personally combined it with Breastplate of the Righteous

The only problem I found with Dungeoun set 3 Righteous armour is that getting the 4 piece bonus makes your tanking gear worse as opposed to other items that can go in other slots. So just settle for the 2 piece bonus as that 15% mana reduction is really worth it.

picked these up on my first run, slapped 12 stam and a random epic drop i picked up out of H Mech with 5 parry and 6 stam. I lost 50 health from my Warchief's Mantle, but I gained about a percent in avoidance. Plus the 2 set bonus and 15 spell damage makes these nice for 5 mans andentry level kara.
