These crates contain Weather-Beaten Journal, the book to teach the ability Find Fish.

The drop rate of the book is very high, but it appears low on the statistics due to the fact that it doesn't show for people who already know it.

If you have the ability already, you can trade or mail a crate to another char and let them open it. If they have 100 fishing skill, they should be able to loot the Journal.

I went to the main big lake in Zangarmarsh where SSC is and circled. The map above only lists a few but I actually found more. It took about 6 flotsams and 2 curious crates approx 10 minutes for me.

What fishing level(if any) do you need to fish from the nodes?

It seems Knothide Leather Scrap has been replaced by Knothide Leather in these curious crates. I've been farming Highland Mixed Schools in Outland, and the only leather I found inside the crates was Knothide Leather, between 1 and 3 units each time.

Went to zanga found a wreckage pool, 3rd cast got the curious crate containing the much coveted book!

Anyway because i lost my day looking in all comments regarding the Weather-Beaten Journal...

Go to Zangarmarsh look for the Steam Pump Flotsum Pool and you will have the crate with the journal if not on the first one..for sure on the second pool.

Went to Zangamarsh, circled the Serpent Lake and fished from the Steam Pump Flotsam pools...took about 3 pools and it came from a heavy crate! sweet!

I was herb hunting in Zangarmarsh when I came across some Steam Pump Flotsam floating in the water. Naturally I quickly started fishing to hopefully find some neat stuff. Well the last item I pulled up was "Curious Crate". When I opened the crate, I received one Knothide Leather. Hopefully someone can add this item to the Contains list for the Curious Crate.

★ Nagrand ★
This fishing route is short, and it doesn't boast any kind of wreckage pools to make it easier to hook some crates, but there's still a chance to get some on the side if you're fishing for something else--like Motes of Water. This route runs close to a Horde base.

Curious Crate – 3

★ Terokkar Forest ★
The fishing route I use in Terokkar Forest isn't a long one, but even so there are plenty of pools to fish in. Just be mindful of coming close to both Alliance and Horde faction bases, depending on your allegiance.

Curious Crate – 7

★ Zangarmarsh ★
This is a bit of a longer zone compared to the other two, but it also give you a whole lot more crates as well, thanks to all the Steam Pump Flotsam floating around the shore. Technically, you could just fly the route and only fish in the wreckage pools, but for this guide, we stuck with the entire route of every pool available.

I fished up 50 of these crates to find out the grand total of everything on the inside. It was a decent amount of materials, really, and certainly worth opening if you need these specific materials as spare mats for crafting.
