From 2.1 you can turn these into zonebound (coilfang only) consumables, such as healing potion, mana potion, or flasks. For example, 1 mana potion = 1 armament

The post I made above saying you can turn these into flasks and pots was before 2.1 went live, those were on the test realms.

Right now, on the live servers you can turn these armaments into zonebound potions:
1 Armaments = 3 mana / healing potion (can be only used in SSC)

The flasks can be bought with Mark of the Ilidari (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=32897).
You can turn those tokens in at your Shattra bank (Aldor / Scryer). You will need exalted reputation with: Shatar, Aldor/Scryer and Cenarion Expedition.
These tokens are trashrdops in TK and SSC.

The flasks are:

they have an average of 15% drop rate, bear in mind there will be 5 people in your group so you have about a 3% chance of getting on per mob you kill.

I'm working on a Druid right now who will be primarily leveling 60-70 in dungeons. Since I want to be feral @ 70, getting exalted with Cenarion ASAP is pretty important. Does anyone know if the armaments can be looted before you get/turn in the Orders from Vashj quest?

If you can solo regular Steamvaults like my level 80 ret pally can I'm not sure if the Borean Tundra quest turn in is as effective.

Level 80 ret pally...never done a single heroic. All crafted gear...3300 AP, 3700 with proc from Sonic Booster. 18500 life or so with just my buffs.

I may put a scroll on...agility or stamina but its usually just my buffs.

I average 2000-2300 dps on the groups and haven't had much of an issue with this. I died once the first run...but once I got the rotation and pulls down its becoming very very easy.

1200-1300 rep per run PLUS 15-22 Coilfang Armaments per run. I need 2-3 more runs and I'll hit exalted.

The reason for the efficiency isn't the difficulty..its the gold. I've made about 100-150g per run ...average about 30 minutes. I do 3-4 runs a night and am almost there.

I sell everything I get. All the blues, etc.

If you're 75 or something and want the rep run Borean Tundra..if you're 80 and can do it..run Steamvaults..with some extra bag space :)

Whether you should grind the ears or do the normal Steamvaults is a tough decision. With my feral Druid in about t8.5 gear I can do the instance in about 30-40 minutes and get close to 3k rep with good drops on the armaments. OTOH, farming the ears is slower but you also get green drops which can be disenchanted or sold and frostweave cloth which is also salable or used in first aid. This allows you to do several things at once.

If you have a well geared toon and all you care about is the rep, SV is probably the better bet. But if you are trying to max your gold or level enchanting or first aid then the ears are probably better.

I'm trying a two-fer for a pair of toons who are both revered with Cenarion Expedition and gunning for exalted.

I ran SV last night on my 80 semi-decently geared hunter. In about 30 minutes, he gained roughly 500 CE rep (plus Outland greens, grays and gold) by culling some trash mobs.

More importantly, he picked up 8 Coilfang Armaments that he'll ship to my 71 Druid, who earlier in the evening picked up about 50 ears in Borean Tundra while he was herbing.

I can't grind something for more than 30 minutes, so by switching off I can get the rep I want without driving myself nuts.

A full steamvaults run, combined with the armaments you will collect, will net you about 2500 reputation.
As a level 80 dk myself with an average iLevel of 237 i found that i am able to clear it twice in 1 hour - including the time it takes to venture to a village to sell the drops.

I found that the best way is to go blood-spec and pick up Glyph of Death Strike because of the added burst damage (UH doesn't offer enough burst as it relies on AoE damage over a longer period).

5000 reputation per hour means it is about twice as fast as farming ears. The drops you receive will net you upwards 100 gold per hour as well.

If you are a decent-geared level 80 i strongly recommend running Steamvaults over collecting ears.

edit: a little bit more testing showed a suprising result.
Run time: 20 minutes
Reputation: 1796 (full clear)
Armaments: 13
Gold gained: 100 gold (gold drops + vendoring everything)
Assuming 2 runs per hour (taken into consideration slacking and travelling back and forth to vendors) the total spoils of war would be:
+/- 5.5k reputation
+/- 200 gold
A truly superb spot to grind reputation ánd gold.

the NPC druid Ysiel Windsinger - female on terrace at Cenarion Refuge doesn't offer turn in option for me. Im 80 warrior sitting with 36 of them in bag, honored with Cenarion.

Just did a full steamvaults heroic run alone. I got 2485 for killing all the mobs and i got 23 Coilfang Armaments and I did it in aprox. 25 mins.

The 23 armaments will give 1725 rep so a heroic run will in all give around 4k rep.

Just did a normal afterwards and I got 1338 rep for mobs and I got 21 armaments and time was aprox. 20 mins

The 21 armaments will give 1575 rep. so a normal run will in all give around 3k rep.

Rep. can be increased as my guild is only level 11. So on level 12 you get the Mr. Popularity which give 10% more rep for killing monsters and completing quests.

One run of Heroic Steamvault got me from ~354 rep into revered all the way to ~5960 into revered, including the orders quest, the quest for the last boss kill (not repeatable), and the armaments turned in (13 of them). I haven't done regular yet, but with the guild rep bonus perks I will probably be able to finish off my expedition rep in one sitting, maybe an hour or two of runs depending on my luck. As a 357 average item level Prot Paladin, this is ridiculously easy to do and takes no more than 15 minutes on heroic. Will edit to post times/rep gain from regular. My guild level is currently 12, almost 13, meaning we do have a full 10% increase to all rep gains.
As for the regular runs, I went from just around 10,000 rep into revered up to 12,821 into revered with only 10 armaments turned in. That run seemed much lower than the heroic runs, although I did skip the bog lords and I got seemingly few armaments (heroic gave me around 15 both times I've done it). Took nearly the same amount of time as a heroic run, most of that time was spent walking.

Edit: Just finished my grind. Started at halfway through honored, with none of the blade's edge quests done, and got to exalted over the course of 2 days, probably spent around 3 hours doing this altogether. Made a good bit of gold in the process.

It took less than 7 hours of farming these from NON HEROIC slave pens with an 85 mage, from honored to exalted. did it in about 2 days, and probably cleared the place around 10-12 times. clearing the place twice gets you over 32 coil arms, and by then your bags will be getting full so its the best time to vendor and turn in the arms, (unless you have a repair bot or a friend with you.)

Was running a lower level shaman through it who just looted the whole time. its best to only kill the naggas and the bosses, none of the water eles or boglords guys drop these. and it looks like all the naggas have about a 20% chance to drop them.

just do the prequest to turn these in, and the quest to kill the last boss of SV(from the npc outside the instance). Dont even bother with running anything else. and running it on heroic will not make it any faster because they have the same drop rate no matter what.
(you start the quest to turn these in by just looting an item from a random kill in SV and it begins the quest to turn one in. after that you can turn in the rest. best to have a macro for that)

The drop rate of the Armaments is about double in Heroic mode than it is in Normal mode. However, I discovered as of 4.x you can't just farm the Heroic trash.

My test was to clear all the trash without killing any bosses (prevents getting 'saved' and then locked out for 24hrs), went out, reset all instances, and went back. Trash was back but the drop rate of Armaments was about half, did this a couple of times to be sure, on the last run I did kill the bosses and opened up the route to the final boss. The 'new' Naga there (which had not been killed before) had the higher (about 25%) drop rate.

There are 65 Naga mobs accessible without killing bosses, first run gets me 13 - 16 armaments, each additional trash clear is more like 8 or 9.

It seems that you can no longer use these to gain rep with CE. The starting quest 瓦丝琪的命令 has been removed from the game and therefore you cannot follow the progression through to the repeatable hand in.

I just ran a H-Steamvaults and have about 48 armaments. However, Ysiel doesn't give me the option
of handing anything in. I'm currently halfway through revered with CE, and have done all the quests they offer
in Zangarmarsh. The mobs are still dropping them, but I can't turn em in. Sad! Anyone know the deal, or am I just
doing something wrong.

As of now farming steamvaults for rep is now longer the way to go since you can no longer turn in coilfang armaments for rep. Looks like ears is the better option now.

Since I was grinding reputation for the Hippogryph and encountered the same problem you did, I opened a ticket with the question if this quest was indeed removed on purpose.
I spoke with a GM and he comfirmed that tis was the the case, but that they didn't remove the Armaments themselves because they could still be used to get the salves.

So, you're going to have to do it the way I did and just do all the quests and run the heroics.

Filed a ticket about these not being able to be turned in, more specifically the questline leading up to the repeatable quest to turn these in and got this in response:

I hope your day is going well and thank you for contacting Blizzard Customer Service. I wish I was able to chat with you directly, however I wanted to let you know that I have read and reviewed your issue regarding turning in Coilfang Armaments.

After looking deeper into the issue, I found you encountered a bug that has been occuring since the 4.3 patch we are still investigating and hope to have resolved soon. I apologize for any inconvenience. However, at this time, I don't have any work-arounds to offer.

I'm going to take the information you've provided and forward it to our Quality Assurance team for testing. It's likely they won't be able to contact you directly, but this information will definately help track down what is causing the issue.

So it looks like the quests is going to come back at some point hopefully. I just holed them away in the bank and will see what happens next patch. I hope this helps someone.

This quest chain is no longer available as of 5.0.4. Sorry if you had stack of the Armaments stacked up for later turn in like me. Apparently they made it available for a short time in between me filing a ticket, and 5.0.4, but it has permanently been removed. Sad day.

Some advance warning for this change would have been nice, and unless I'm mistaken there was no mention of it prior to the 4.3 patch going live.

I buy many of the reputation turn-in items (including these) off the AH when they are priced reasonably as an effortless method of repping-up alts. I had over 400 of these that are now worthless. (I don't count using them to purchase the Cenarion Expedition potions a valid use and I doubt anyone else does either.)

I'm holding out hope that the removal of this quest was unintentional. Or that they will reconsider.

Now you can turn in 1 盘牙武器 to 莫尔托格 and receive either 3 塞纳里奥治疗药膏 or 3 塞纳里奥法力药膏.

You must be Exalted with 塞纳里奥远征队 before he will allow sale though.

I just got done talking to a GM, and he said that the quest is still in the game, but it drops from Coilfang mobs in the Steamvault in Zangarmarsh. The drop rate is not very high so it might take a while to get it. I'm going to go see now :) Hope this helps.

I myself was surprised, when I couldn't turn this in, although the character I was trying on was an alt of mine created in 2006, which though it was many a year ago he went through TBC land, there is a fair liklihood I had done quests from here. Needless to say, the other quests in Cenarion Refuge had been completed (no exclamation points over NPCs heads, with show low level quests checked in tracking). But because he was an alt, actually on a realm I seldom played on, when TBC first came out, I really didn't bother reping on him then....

There is an arguable advantage to doing the instance runs there (well 2), vs farming ears however. Those who remember farming Timbermaw rep in the old, old days will remember what I mean.... And even the killing of furlbogs did drop spirit beads and feathers (though at revered, as I remember, you needed them).... It took awhile. Now this has been nerfed, with much greater reputation gains in latter patches; but with some classes able to AoE kill the instance, and loot corpse piles, this can result in more mobs killed, in a shorter period of time in the instance, vs in the zone at large (where other players can also be going after mobs, potentially). Throw in 15-33 rep per kill for most mobs, AoE'd down....

The other thing is, if one is on a newer character then one hasn't done all of the achievements (and they also might want to get the kara key, to solo kara for gold runs). This of course is possible, if one can get someone to temp group with them/convert to raid, then enter kara to solo it. The gold off bosses, when one doesn't have to split the drops, is still decent even after the kara gold nerf back in Wraith, as I remember. But to solo, there is getting that key, hence the chain... Which getting the Outland dungeon achievements for clearing them, and doing the kara chain, one is getting some of these. And it is nice to be able to turn them in, when one incidently gets em. Outside of rep, yes there were flasks and stuff one could get for SSC and what not, but there were back in TBC days as well. Those were useful then; but now? Lets be honest, at 85 (or even at 80), who really needed flasks for BT? It wasn't like it was, when we raided that place for real.... At 80 cap, I'd seen 9, or even 8 man BT groups, kill up through Illidan there, getting some nice gold along the way. At 85, how many really flask for those places, not to mention alchemists can make better flasks then those, these days. Rep is/was arguably about the only worthwhile thing for these armaments these days.

It was different when some classes (aka an elemental shaman for instance), had to really work at getting the 8.5k hp pool, so they'd have enough hp in reserve, so when the shield was popped on Na'jentis, they weren't 1 shot killed.... 8.5k hp, now, is like nothing.... And dps, is well beyond what was heard of in tbc....

BTW, I checked the quest giver on the character who was my main from 2006 through most of the period until Nov 2009... Well for several months I did raid with another class, but anyhow, this guy is exalted on all Outland reps, and most of the vanilla, including zandalar, etc He had the achievements for these instances dated when achievements first got introduced, etc; so I know for a fact he did the quest chain.... He also had Outlands loremaster, so was through all of this. In any case, the repeatable quest to turn in coilfang armaments is no longer available on him, and I distinctly remember turning in armaments in the past. So it seems that even with characters who previously did the chain, they can no longer turn them in, in patch 4.3.2... Unless, as someone suggested, it now is a dropped quest, and for those who did it off the quest giver previously, Blizzard is making them do it again.... That, I couldn't confirm or deny from an old char of mine, only that he could turn them in previously/can't now...

Now, particularly if you want both 塞纳里奥远征队 and 孢子村 rep, normal mode 幽暗沼泽 is another alternative. Despite what Wowhead is still showing, the mobs give rep through revered for both factions. Trash mobs give 7 for CE and 21 for Sporregar. Bosses give 10 times that. Only 幽暗沼泽狂鱼 don't give rep (or loot). It's a great way to grind Sporeggar rep, particularly when you take the 我还要红色木槿！ repeatable quest into account. Once you are done with Sporeggar, you will probably want to switch to a faster way to gain CE rep (quests or heriocs), though.

As of 5.0.4 these have been officially deprecated which is reflected by the grey item quality. As explained in other comments, they weren't very useful in Cataclysm due to the necessary quests to turn them in getting removed.

While a gray quality item they still have value at 莫尔托格 at the meeting stone for the Coilfang Reservoir dungeon suite. They are redeemable for 塞纳里奥治疗药膏 and 塞纳里奥法力药膏.

I doubt such a purchase will find much use.

As of 6.2.2a, these items still drop from nearly every male naga in the whole Coilfang Complex including Serpent Shine Cavern. The quest, 盘牙武器, is still not available, however IF you have exalted status with 塞纳里奥远征队, 盘牙武器 can be exchanged with 莫尔托格 by the Coilfang meeting stone for potions. As sniper92 points out, they are redeemable for 塞纳里奥治疗药膏 (3 for 1 盘牙武器) and 塞纳里奥法力药膏 (3 for 1 盘牙武器).

Many Many Years later these got greyed out and are 100% useless. I'm kind of sad, we never knew why they removed it besides we assume it was originally a bug that then never got fixed and forgotten about.
