These appear to only drop from crates/boxes/containers out in the world.

If you are looking to skill up a profession quick the Auction house is your best bet unless you have been lucky enough to get one while leveling!

Not only treasures. Waxy blobs on grounds all over areas may spawn listed monsters and those has small drop change.

You can get these with a 100% drop in the Sturdy Chest in the Nightfall Sanctum Delve 坚固宝箱 (A specific one in the back of the delve). This seems to be once per account. Unknown if weekly, but confirmed that multiple runs in different level delves, on different characters, etc will not make that chest available again in a single day. Edit: Tried running the next day, still not able to loot. So at minimum it's a weekly run for the 100% chest per account.

I've also seen Brann toss one while doing the Nightfall Sanctum. Unsure if it's a random "I found something" or when my character was mining/herbing. This is confirmed to have happened in a Tier 1 version, and believed to have happened in a Tier 3.

I also got one in the end chest for completing the Sanctum in Tier 3, but this seems to be a much lower chance. Updated: 2/6 finishes of a non-bountiful delve so far.

So, if you need these, doing the Nightfall Sanctum may be the best bet right now until we have better information on the sepcifics of other stuff observed.

The drop rate is just crazy stupid....

It's a reagent for so many, and the prices are just rising... I've done delves, treasures, weekly, dungeons, mopb farming etc., and I havenøt even gotten a single 1... Looking at AH there's a total of 10940 for sale starting from 4k, but the prices isn't worth it...

Blizzard - Do something about it...

Got 3 in a single run of level 3 Nightfall Sanctum. One from the 坚固宝箱 at the end and Brann gave me 2.
Just collect everything and gather in the delve, even without gathering profession if going close to a mining deposit Brann will mine it and throw some ore (also that time I got one of the Tinderbox).

After reading yalls comment about the Delve. I did a tier 1 run and received 3 total. I received 1 from Braan digging around in the stack of epic boxes in the center isle part. The second was from a chest near the end of the dungeon (3rd chest of the run from what I saw its normally only 2?) and I received the last 1 from the treasure room chest. Time to craft my 2h

If you need to farm these then Delves are the answer. 夜幕圣所 is very fast to run and has a good return. I spam ran level 1, each run taking about 5 minutes. Here's what I found:

- ~~You want Bran spec'd for treasure finding with Olden Seeker Relic.~~ You can get 被亵渎的火绒盒 from the mining, herbing, and fishing Bran does. This significantly increases the drop rate. In one run I received 4 boxes. Make sure you have tracking for mining/herbing/fishing enabled if you have it. If you don't, be sure to check everywhere so you don't miss one.

- There are other items you can get from the end chests that are sought after. I collected 4 图样：晖晨线内衬, 公式：附魔风化先驱纹章 (all ranks), 可部署的战斗补给品, 可部署的恢复酒桶, random greens and blues, and herbs, ore, and fish from Bran.

The following list of delve sourced reagents can now be found in any delve's Heavy Trunks:
Profaned Tinderbox
Viridian Charmcap
Ringing Deeps Ingot
Gloomfathom Hide
Vial of Kaheti Oils

Heavy Trunks in a Tier 6 delve now have a chance to grant 1 to 2 reagents (was 1 only).
Heavy Trunks in a Tier 7 delve now have a chance to grant 1 to 3 reagents (was 1 only).
Heavy Trunks in a Tier 8 delve and above now have a chance to grant 2 to 3 reagents (was 1 only).

Is it just my bad RNG or within the last 2 days have these A) Skyrocketed in Price from under 1k to over 7k and B) Become nearly impossible to come across from treasures and those little wax piles. I have played since Early Access and every day until yesterday and most of todays farming always gave me roughly 3-5 a day on average. I think they either messed something up hence the 4 hour maintenance tonight or they have made them intenionally super low for what purpose I don't know I just assume they are bugged. SInce they other things that drop Vial of Kaheti Oils and Ringing Deeps Ingots are dropping at the same rate these weere dropping at. If anyone got any insight on this Please post an Update.

I have a hunch that Blizz has the drop rate of these so low because it's not even season 1 yet and they probably don't want too much higher level gear (which these can be used to make) out there just yet.

At first of the expansion i was getting these tinderboxes decently so much so that i didnt even look that my sanctified alloys took them and was freely making them now i can not find them to save my life. I see the low drop chances on about anything you kill in the expansion and mind you i have completed all the quests found treasure have loremaster alot of side achievements already to where i fly around looking for rares to kill and wq for rep with nothing else to do I still have yet to hardly get even one of these dang things trying looting all the treasures that pop up the disturbed dirt for the wax everything just got finished running nightfall sanctum 5 times because it was said on here brann would toss you one possibly when he gathers and i did not recieve a single one even with brann collecting herb ore fish or finding the crates each time and nothing i have the old seeker selected on him to allow him to gather and nothing so either bugged and everyone else will make the gold or rng hates the ever living crapola out of my account to where everyone else will make the gold still lol.

Not sure how people are reporting getting 3 or more of these in a single Nightfall Sanctum run. I was running it to farm Valorstones, had Olden Seeker Relic 4/4 as well, and after 15 runs Brann hadn't found a single Tinderbox.

I was finding 3 or 4 gathering nodes per run. That's not counting the random gold procs when Brann yells "Found a bit of gold!".

Edit: After doing some more runs, I was able to get a good amount of Tinderboxes just rushing through the delve to the chests at the end. Ignore anything that's not in the way of the objective, including gathering nodes, and it only takes a couple of minutes to complete. The 2 chests at the end have a high chance of having Tinderboxes. I got 5 in 10 runs.

The Nightfall delve does seem to be a good spot for these. However the yield is still not great. I've completed 5 runs, tier 1 through 5, and received 3 profaned tinderboxes: one from the Sturdy Chest at the back of the instance in Tier 1, then two more as rewards at the end of Tier 4 and Tier 5. I never received one from any other sources in the instance. I have Mining and Fishing. Brann also Herbalized in each run. None of these turned up a tinderbox. Nothing as part of drops or in Mislaid Curiosities or other Sturdy Chests, nor from a Rare that was available in Tier 3.

These runs were not Bountiful Delves. I'll have to try again when that's the case.

I have been farming Nightfall Sanctum rank 1 for these in the last few days. Both the layouts that have you destroy braziers and shadow domes are completable in somewhere between 2:30 and 3 minutes on my fury warrior with adequate routing. Tinderboxes come very rarely from Brann gathering materials or looting corpses, but I'd estimate the drop chance is only 1-3%. The two boxes at the end have a significantly better drop rate that I would estimate somewhere in the 10-20% range. It's not uncommon to go dry for 10 runs, but it's also not unheard of to have one in each box. In total I currently produce about 7-12 tinderboxes an hour with this strategy.

I've not experimented with higher rank delves as I doubt the possibly increased drop rate would offset the clears speed lost, but I'd love to hear if someone did the science.

Is there by any chance a weekly soft/hard cap on these? I've mostly found them from random treasure chests and disturbed dirt piles in the world, but I've noticed after getting like 5 or so of em, they just stopped dropping. Then same deal after the weekly reset. Got about 5 of em in a few hours and then nothing for 3 whole days.

Ran Tier 8 Delves on 5 toons, 4 delves each, thats 20 delves.. zero profaned tinderboxes. This is ridiculous.

Since the hotfix a couple days ago, I tried farming it in the Sanctum at Tier 8...

First two runs, I got 3(!) tinderboxes. Then, after a couple runs, at the end of the first hour, I got another three, for a total of 9.
Then, I farmed it for ANOTHER HOUR (I got it down to 10 minutes per run.), and seen NONE, except for brann mining ONE. (Which I NEVER seen, I kept seeing comments about him doing that, and I thought it was an urban legend. I am not a miner on that character as well.)
Then, ANOTHER HOUR of farming (for a total of three, and two dry hours.) And I haven't seen any tinderboxes... I know this is a famous gambles falacy, when it constantly lands on black, you wanna bet on red because its due... But my gut is telling me the drop is hard-capped in some manner for players in general, not just in the delve, and thats why the prices go up and down so crazily... I'll farm it for another hour or two, just to test that theory.

EDIT: So about another one and a half hour to two of farming, my brain started breaking... and I got 11 tinderboxes. 8 from the chests at the end (3+3+2), and THREE found both in ores and herbs by our little dwarf. Now, is this farming method worth it for gold value ?... probably not, you might earn more herbing and collecting treasures, or using your profession if you think about the sheer time spent there... But if you got nothing to do, it is one way to fill your bottom row of the vault, while earning a tiny bit of dosh.

Does anyone know if they nerfed the ability to gain these from chests/wax deposits? I was getting them semi-steady leveling alts, but I haven't seen a single one doing this in the last week and have collected some 200 deposits/chests.
