I havent run a quest this annoying and buggy for quite some time. Up to this point the SOA was fun, but collecting these little pebbles are a royal pain to locate and collect

My first mistake was thinking that the dust will glow like other objects. It doesn't. You have to go over it with a pointer to see that it is lootable.
My second mistake was not noticing that the idol doesn't have the beam all the time. When beam appears, it means you are near.
It literally looks like any other pebble in the area. :(

These are tiny pebbles by the way.

Use the idol toy and then follow the beams from the eyes on the idol above your head, if you play like I do and your camera is zoomed out quite far, you will have to zoom in closer to your toon to be able to see it properly.

If the idol is spinning it means that there are no nodes close to you.

Also if you mount up you need to use the idol toy again

OMG i got 46 of 50 and my idol can't seem to find anymore dust arggghhh

I found all mine around 48.18,45.12 around the Provoking flames and Zhurtan the Riverboiler. The idol stops showing you the pellets when you reach 50.

No wonder I didnt find ANY of those when the "Overflowing rapids" on the map is not where the overflowing rapids actually are...
On the map it's to the north of the actual rapids behind the mountain.

One note I didn't see here, each time you mount, your Idol buff disappears and you need to use the toy again.

You reach 50 faster than you realise (at least that happened to me). I kept looking around in lots of places and found none. Seems I had 50 already.

Rose Gold Dust
1. Start at (/way 48.00, 47.07) in The Waking Shores & activate your Idol of Ohn'ahra toy.
2. Keep your Idol of Ohn'ahra active (mounting will deactivate it so make sure it's always on).
3. You are looking for little lootable rocks that are somewhat spread out around the area on the ground, scroll over to find them.
Note: Each cluster of them you loot gives about x10 of the item, so you only need to find 5 or so to collect your 50.
Note: You do NOT need to be next to them to see them. You can stand wherever you want in the area & mouse around your screen to find the next one you want to loot.

Go to where Zhurtan the Riverboiler is.

Activate the Idol of Ohn'ara and look at the ground for small clusters of around 3 pebbles, close together. Your Idol actually has a little radar above it pointing you in the direction. Gather 5 lots and you're sweet! They're called Dusty Red Pellets.
