These oils are quite nice, they add a lot of spell damage and a crit chance. They end up costing arounf 3g per charge. IIt is made by enchanters and you obtain the recipe upon hitting honored with the ZG tribe.

Also it is a weapon buff so if you die you don't lose the buff. Especially nice for Bosses like Vael where you might attempt him multiple times within 30minutes. Or even if you want to go crazy in a Battleground.

Sharpening stones, weightstones and wizard oils do not stack with rockbiter weapon or any other elemental weapon.

Seems much more economical to use superior wizard oil. Sure, you dont get the crit bonus, but you get more +dmg and the recipe doesn't require shards. (By the time you will get 340 skill to make it, you will have a ton of arcane dust lying around)

I can confirm that the 'required level' on this oils is based on the ilevel of the weapon u're putting the temporary item buff on, and not on the required level to use the item. There is no way to tell the ilvl of an item in game without using an addon.

As a fire mage at 70 I've found using this over Superior Wizard Oil increases my overall damage. The materials for Superior are easier to get hold of but the extra crit helps. More Ignites are always welcome. Not sure if this is better for any other classes though.

Not a bad idea to give this a try as a holy priest/resto shaman on Brutallus if your job is to try to keep the armor buff on the tank.

This is also good for holy paladins. 14 spell crit and +36 healing (the 36 spell dmg does translate to healing as well nowadays) is better than any other available weapon oil.

Wouldn't this also be nice for lower level Prot Palas?
Should help a lot when tanking instances in the 40s to 50s.

Use Mana oil for grinding.

Just a FYI, I got this as a quest reward in Terrokar for my Warrior, despite what the tooltip says, yes it does increase your melee crit as well. 28 crit rating (fury warr) is better than the 10 silver I would have gotten, I guess.

to my dismay, as of recent developements, this is not usable on level 80 weapons, farewell old friend, i wish they'd replaced you.

At the release of Lich King, temporary weapon enhancements (oils & stones) worked on items all the way to those requiring level 80 (I applied it to Totemic Purification Rod with no problems), this was changed by Blizzard within weeks of release. After much experimenting I found that (at version 3.0.9) the current cut off for using these is any weapon with item value of 162 (as rated in the Armory). Any weapon at or above 166 will alert the user that the attempt failed but will not consume the object. I was able to apply oil to a Levitating Dagger (BOE green) which requires level 75 to use.

Its a little odd because the description says it doesn't work on higher than 165, but makes no mention to any low level items.

I really wish there was some other kind of buff that could be used with weapons at a higher item level than 165. I had become so accustomed to using the oils and now I miss that extra damage since obtaining the Chilly Slobberknocker.

Is it still the case that you cannot use these items on ilvl 165+ weapons even though the tooltip says 200?

It doesn't matter much considering how there is little to no twinking community above 70, but I just thought I'd ask. For those wondering, the highest level twinking done is usually 70-74 and the highest ilvl weapons you can obtain there (or atleast the best ones afaik) are ilevel 154-164.

The recipe that teaches this consumable is no longer in the game. Enchanters who had previously obtained at least Honored with the Zandalari Tribe and purchased this recipe are still able to craft this item. Don't expect to see this often in the Auction House.

In my opinion, you should always use items like these. Weapon oil, sharpening stones etc. They are extremely easy to make, and reasonably cheap on the auction house, and they give such an extreme boost.

Nerfed at some point after Dragonflight launch. Was a pretty cool oil to enchant low level characters in Shadowlands, post squish.

Replaced with 卓越巫师之油 in patch 10.0.7, and the formula for the item is now available in game again for those that complete 陨落帝国的遗物.
