Starts 严寒之赐 quest

The Frigid Boon quest can be started in any zone, but i would recommend you to farm the questitem in Drustvar.
You need to farm 严冬之赐 from Winter's Kiss nodes.
I was able to take it after ~80 level of profession skill.

To complete this quest you need to go on and collect more Winter's Kiss
The best place to farm is in the middle of the zone, near the Arom's Stand (east and north of it)

Skill column is approximate profession skill you need to have to get this quest. It can be lower, i provide here info of levels i was able to pick up the quest.
* Drop items can drop from related herb in multiple zones. Farm the herb in any zone you want. I provide the recommended zone.

The quest requires 150 skill level in 库尔提拉斯草药学.

If you have a +xx herbalism item such as 终极版侏儒军刀, it can drop for you before having that skill level and you can't start the quest (You do not meet the requirement).
In that case, just hang on to the item until you get a 150.

After 500 nodes gathered, I have still not received this item. I have confirmed with a GM that I am eligible for the quest, but they "can't intervene because it's RNG."

I think that's a load of BS, and my character is in some way bugged. If anyone else is suffering here, I'm working with the GM to resolve this issue.

EDIT: 1200 total Winter's Kiss farmed before it dropped. It did drop about 5 minutes after a GM reply, but I can't entirely rule out RNG. Keep herbing!

Herbing at max range seems to greatly increase the chance of not taking damage and therefore getting credit for the quest.

Stand on the herb for a bit before looting. Supposedly the heat from your breath makes it not hurt you. I don't know exactly how long, but 3-4 seconds seems to be enough. I wish Blizzard would put some kind of visual indicator on it because half the time I stand there waiting around the darn thing despawns 'cause someone already looted it ;)

Anyway, since I started doing this I had a 100% success rate. Distance to the herb didn't seem to matter. Good luck!

Based on a couple comments I thought it was worth putting in a ticket to see if they could "fix" it for me as I have not looted the item yet (I am max herbing and have looted tons of winter's kiss). All the other herbalism auto-accept quests I got right away. Here's the response I got:

I understand you haven't been able to start the quest, "The Frigid Boon" yet.

To start the quest, you'll need to loot a frigid boon from Winter's Kiss. It might take a few flowers before it drops since it's random. Once it drops, you'll be able to start the quest.

So a generic response indicates they don't seem to acknowledge any bug or are unaware of one. We could just be getting very unlucky.

Yeah, horrible luck here too. I even added +10 Herbalism(Gnome Knife) to push me to 160 Herbalism and did no good. Still trying. UGH

Who thought it was a good idea to gate the gathering skill quests behind random drops? I'm not complaining about having to complete quests to gain the higher ranks of the gathering skills, but it would have been better being able to pick up the quests at the trainer if the character possesses the appropiate skill level.

I can confirm that this drop is 100% RNG.

I've tried all the tips listed: /kiss, /sigh, standing on it for 3 seconds, looking at my char's idle animation to time the exhale, none of that works (I ended up with 400 winter's kiss). The one thing I did though when I got the drop finally, was that I was keyboard turning in place while picking the herb. I highly doubt that influenced the drop, as I did the same thing for the actual quest and it didn't work for taking no damage.

Yeah sometimes RNG is alright, but this one was a b!tch. Good luck everyone.

1) Complete Rank 2 of Anchor Weed before starting. You will get pretty far towards Rank 3 before finishing
the Winter's Kiss rank 3 from all the Winter's Kiss nodes that turn into Anchor Weed.

2) If there is a secret on getting the quest to drop it's news to me. Sorry, you'll just have to grind it out.

3) Pick the Winter's Kiss from "behind". The herb is bent with the face facing "front".

I personally ended with 174 Winter's Kiss before I got the item. Ignore the rubbish about "standing on", "breathing on" and "looting from behind". You do not need to do that. Like Flawis said, this is RNG.
