Finally an alternate appearance for the fishing artifact! Fisherman rejoice!

Edit so I don't look crazy: This page used to be a hidden appearance for the Underlight Angler fishing artifact. Seems it was removed, making my original post sadly ironic.

Could well be this model (including 2 variants) datamined back in Legion Alpha. Could also be a brand new model we haven't seen yet.
Also, there are two more colors in addition to the color on the default model we are all currently using. Since fishing is getting quite the attention in patch 7.2, these variants might be available aswell.

I wonder if there's a fishing challenge similar to the other artifact challenges to unlock 7.2 appearances?
Will have to wait for the Mage Tower to be built to check.

Water Stone - States on it An heirloom and legend among fishermen (i think it is refering to Old Man Barlo from TBC, the reason for me thinking this is the second part of this clue "this is the mighty hook broken by the fish that Got Away" now this is where i did a bit of wowheading and found the following 世界上最大的泥鱼 - One thing that is a problem about this quest is that the lake you used to have to fish the quest reward from was not the one he stood next to it is the one near the ring of elements area in Nagrand. So i have taken my underlight and spent a hour fishing from this lake i didnt put any lures on because i forgot them but can anyone assist me in trying to get this solved. Thanks in advanced guys.

Today 垂钓之乐 and Something's Fishy (HIDDEN) were discovered. Regarding the buff from the first spell it seems we need to find a location (and probably conditions) where this aura is applied to us to be able to fish up the Broken Hook.

Food for thought. One story for "the fish that got away" story was from Raccoon river. Conjurer Margoss happens to sell a companion Trashy. I am not one for battle companions, but maybe need to have this out while fishing? Anyone tried that?

tbh its a shame blizz made a item like this a hidden one seems there is barely any intrest in the playerbase to find it unless millions of players like fishing ingame and would go nuts with it like the few there are now im afraid this item might become lost to the ages :D

There's an achievement "Fisherfriend of the Isles." First NPC for it was found today. I wonder if the Broken Hook is tied to getting this achievement, like getting the fishing artifact required the achievement for catching one of every rare Legion fish.

This item is required to get the 太阳龙宝宝 pet. For a guide how to aquire the pet read the comments over there.
Also this item can be found in the Caverns of Consumption where you also aquire the pet so do NOT buy the Water Stone from the Auction House!

Some people are trying to scam other players who didn't read the item checklist or guide properly and will try to sell this for 10,000g or higher.
According to some guys from the Discord server the sad thing is that this scam even works. Someone sold the Water Stone for 50,000g.

So again: DO NOT buy it from the Auction House!

wowhead what happened to this page? this used to be the broken hook page for the fishing artifact hidden appearance and now its changed to water stone page for a pet? :S

I am a little confused by these posts but doesn't the tool tip on the Sun Darter Hatchling you get from this item read MOUNT?
Where does the pet come in? Are you saying we get 2-in-1? A pet AND a mount?

As of 9.0.1, this item requires level 45 to pick up. A friend of mine was unable to pick it up as a level 32 and couldn't complete the rest of the puzzle.
