From testing on the current PTR 7.1, the 魔鳞锦鲤 are fished from 符鳞锦鲤鱼群 in 苏拉玛.

It is possible to fish up multiple 魔鳞锦鲤 at one go, especially with the 符鳞锦鲤钓鱼术 from the 幽光鱼竿. The drop rate from initial sample catches was around 20% from the pools, dropping quite often.

It is possible to also catch them in open water in the zone though at a lower drop rate (from the small sample catch to date).

They don't stack and are Soulbound. They also currently are not allowed to be placed in a 捕鱼大师的工具箱

There may be some issue if the player doesn't have a large pool for storing 远古魔力. If the capacity is used up, then the player wont be able to use any more until the mana is used up and will have the fish filling their inventory.

Must be new to 7.1 cause I don't remember ever fishing these up before and I fish around Suramar quite often.

They sure do accumulate quickly when power fishing.

I wish they had added more stuff that can be purchased with ancient mana, if they were going to add something like this. I'm exalted with Nightfallen and have no reason to run withered training (which I hate, anyway) so...why do I need this currency?

Alternatively, they could make these BoA - I have alts that could use it.

While fishing in the pools around Suramar I caught quite a few of these.

Gives +50 ancient mana, presumably cause i've done the nightfallen quest that lets you get more mana per item than normal.
