How to Gain Reputation
Gaining reputation with Sha'tari Defense is relatively simple--build a Trading Post Level 1 and upgrade it to level 2 via Garrison Blueprint: Trading Post, Level 2 with Outpost Building Assembly Notes.
Ok, i dont get it. I dont play beta or anything so i dont have a clue about garrisons and their buildings. But how does a trading post help me with rep gain?
Can i skip building the trading post and just grind the mobs all the way to exalted like Shaohao rep?

It is a bit of a shame that the transmog set is for plate only. When I saw that the Horde's masks were using the 'Cosmetic' type of armour, I had high hopes for using this on my hunter. Oh well, I guess.
Still, a good and simple guide!

In the most recent beta build, I've tried killing mobs in the areas listed and none are rewarding reputation despite having a Level 2 Trading Post. Is this bugged or just not implemented?

Tried some farming today in the central Shattrath area. Seems like the "normal" mobs with around 100k HP yield 6 rep with trading post level 3 (+20% rep in draenor, so 5 rep with TP lvl 2). Then there are mobs with closer to 400k hp that are significantly more difficult to kill that yield 9 rep with TP lvl 3. There are also elites with around 600k hp that I have not managed to kill yet so I do not know how much rep they give. With current gear, this grind will take some time to complete.
Happy grinding everyone!

It takes me about 1 minute to kill a mob that gives 5 rep. I calculated that to get to exalted would take me 140 hours of mob grinding :|

I thought this would be pretty straight forward. So often with the Assault on Shattrath as a daily and so many premade groups... should spend an hour two with the groups and be at exalted.
You gain
NO REPUTATION
when killing them
in a RAID
.
I have been too heartbroken to try it with a group (normal party). I am afraid at this point to even think of the consequences of having to spend hundreds of hours killing these silly mobs. Always wondered why the city was like it is because I always disliked everything about it. Talk about torture.

Cannot seem to find an answer, you need the building to be introduced to the faction, do you need the building once you have it to gain reputation, or can you replace it and continue to gain rep?

Sha'tari Defense plate BoA transmog set, each piece costs 1,000
The transmog set is infact BoP which means if you want it on a particular character you will need to grind the rep with that character.

Archmagus Tekar
(364,428 HP) is tied together with
Soulbinder Naylana
(404,920 HP) and
Strategist Ankor
(506,150 HP) and I only got 60 rep for killing all 3 (not each)
The other rares I can confirm gave me 60 rep were
Archmagus Tekar
Avatar of Socrethar
Bombardier Gu'gok
Felfire Consort
Gug'tol
Haakun the All-Consuming
Xothear, the Destroyer

A good place to farm this reputation, if you have a proper tank and healer, is north-east in Talador, above Fort Wrynn. There's a place with a lot of elites there, and they all give 18 (21.66 with the Trading post level 3 upgrade) reputation each. The coordinates are (73,8).
I made a group through the premade group finder and got this achievement in less than an afternoon.
Here's a quick video demonstrating it

Best place to farm that I found is 73.63, 8.03 in Talador. A group is needed, mobs have around 500k health but are worth 20 rep a kill and there are around 100 in the area. With a group of 5 in about an hour I went from Neutral to Revered. Get a tank and heals plus 3 DPS and it goes by really fast.

This one really sucks. I mean really, really sucks. The rep grinds in Warlords have all been particularly bad, but this one is one of the worst. Since there's no quests at all to take the edge off, you really do have to pace yourself so you don't go insane.

Instant or nearly-instant respawns (as fast as a group can clear groups of mobs) around
, , and
on Talador's north/northeastern edge (area name is Bladefury's Command - click coordinate link for map). With a party of 3 or more, if one person is killing mobs around each of the three nearby areas, or a couple groups are moving between them a bit, the mobs never run out. As soon as you kill the mobs in the last area, it causes mobs in another of the three areas to respawn.
The base reputation is 5 rep per mob. With the
货栈,3级
's 20% rep buff, darkmoon carousel's
耶!
or
暗月大礼帽
's 10% rep buff, and a guild
协同战旗
's 15% rep buff, I was getting 8 and sometimes 9 rep per mob. Ranged are great for
格罗姆卡鹰眼枪手
s, which are reluctant to move, and melee with a no- or low-cooldown ranged ability can round up a lot of mobs with little movement.
With a group of 3 item level 700ish players, I was getting about 12k rep per hour.

**Update** Running a dungeon in Mythic gives the same amount of reputation as running it in Heroic. Of course, Mythic dungeons have a weekly lockout.
Ran Heroic
奥金顿
during the Draenor Dungeon Event.
Total
沙塔尔防御者
reputation earned (with the
货栈等级3
20% bonus) was 3,288.
This means without a
货栈等级3
you should be earning 2,740 reputation per run.
You cannot really skip any mobs in this run, so it is a good benchmark to take into account for your rep grinding needs.
Also ran Heroic
永茂林地
. Killing _every_ mob in there with the bonus gave a reputation gain of 6,144.
Without the bonus it should be 5,120.
Note that the spider boss, Xeri'tac gives 480 rep (400 without the bonus). None of the adds he spawns gives any reputation. Whether it's worth skipping him is up to you.
So if you run the instance whilst skipping Xeri'tac, you are looking at a reputation gain of 5,664 (with the bonus) and and 4,720 without.
If you are able to run both heroics every day during the dungeon event, you are looking at a reputation gain of:
Heroic
奥金顿
3,288*7=23,016 (with the bonus)
2,740*7=19,180 (without the bonus)
Heroic
永茂林地
- assuming you skip Xeri'tac, which is likely since he is not a popular option
5,664*7=39,648 (with the bonus)
4,720*7=33,040 (without the bonus)
As you only need 42,000 rep from Neutral 0 to Exalted (okay fine, 42,999 for those OCD sorts who are like me :p) this is of course overkill. But it does prove a point that you can get to Exalted within a week (without, horror of horrors, grinding Shattrath or the like)
So based on this, you are better off doing Heroic
永茂林地
if your time is limited. However take note that if you do not get a cooperative group, they may choose not to pull every bit of trash in the instance and may even take the shortcuts to bypass the bulk of them.
Doing both dungeons a day (skipping Xeri'tac whilst killing all trash, including that sole spider outside his cave) should net you 8,952 reputation (with the bonus) or 7,460 reputation (without the bonus).
Meaning it should take you 5 days to hit Exalted with the bonus or 6 days without the bonus, assuming that you find a cooperative group every single time.

If you're looking to get exalted with Sha'tari Defense, I made a 4 min video explaining everything you need to know in order to get the reputation as fast as possible. There's no techno music in the background and I don't spend 10 minutes introducing myself - you'll get the information you need as fast as possible so you can get going! :-) You can check it out here:

Having just finished farming this, I figured I would give a quick overview on how I managed it in roughly 3-4 hours.
Looping these following locations: 42.50 49.29, 36.93 45.16, 34.10 37.58, 39.22 38.38 and the central platform in the middle with the large spire. There is also 5-6 bosses you can hit roughly every 10-15 minutes. I was gaining roughly 12,000 rep per hour with the human racial bonus only. Made roughly 5000g from vendoring items and about 3000g from various rare drops so not a bad farm!
The eyes and imps do not award any rep so don't bother with them.
Took me just a couple of hours to get Exalted with this strategy

Currently, these level 100 elites only give 2 reps per kill (for a human with level 3 trading post). My rep level with Sha'tari defense stands at 2006/3000 (Neutral) after doing all of Draenor - all the other Draenor reps are Exalted.
Maybe something changed with BfA but this seems like an impossible task (requiring about 20,000 Elite kills to make Exalted).
EDIT: I read on another post that the rep decrease occurs when you hit level 120. If that's true, best to farm rep while level 119 or lower...

Just an update as I am finishing up this rep farm in 8.0(BFA) there is 1 major requirement to gaining reputation with these still required:
You must have a level 2 Trading Post at the very minimum. I did not have the lv. 2 post and tried farmin the rep in the locationed mentioned in this post; no luck
Also once you have level 2 trading post head on out and farm your butt off! Most mobs were giving 1-2 rep however I did use the Dark Moone Fair butt (10% rep increase) it did help even out the playin field. However what I do wanna mention here is there is one specific mob in general that gives 4 rep per kill and it is the Rune Ritualist. (Locations 36.62/49.74 and south east and south west of this as well) I did a loop farm and easily gained 1500-2k rep per hour. Also I killed first and looted later! I was pretty active in draenor so my mage even tho she is not a gatherer draenor's buff with lvl 3 herbalism plots you can interact with things while mounted which i just killed everything in the area hopped on my mount and looted. Engineers have looterangs as well! I hope this helps and Happy Farming!
One other thing you can kill the "rares" in this area multiple times for a decent chunk of rep with the buff i was getting 60 rep dropped a guild standarad with buff as well got 68..Also I am only 111 if that has any kind of help. Another thing worth mentioning is that I have done this farm for 2 hours now and I have 3 out of the 4 parts needed fo the auction house inside my garrison. Make sure to bring Empty Bags because the greens that drop and the greys are incredible so either sell the greens or vendor either way..this is pretty great for a little extra jingle while doin the rep!

Just a note that this seems to have been corrected. My 120 main that was getting 2 and 4 rep at most now gets 10 and 20. It may still be less than under 120 characters, but it's enough to go ahead and finish it out on my main with all the other reputations.

This is a good opportunity to get reputation with any WOD bodyguards, which counts as an achievement reputation (same as a new faction).
I'll also note that the trash mobs count towards bodyguard reputation even though they don't count towards Sha'tari rep.

It is important to note that the Level 3 Trading Post no longer awards a 20% Reputation Bonus for the Sha'tari Defense (or the Laughing Skull). I noticed this during the most recent Timewalking event, which was for Warlords of Draenor.
(Timewalking for a specific expansion now awards a 50% rep bonus during the event, so this is a good way to farm those reps. That bonus did function for this faction and all other factions for WoD.)
I sent in a ticket to see if this was intended, with the following response:
Inuwynn
Good afternoon <arasimus>,
Game Master Inuwynn at your service! Now looking over your ticket here I understand you're wanting to know why your Trading Post Level 3 isn't providing you with the extra Reputation bonus.
Now we can most certianly understand your concern here! So, when it comes to the Trading Post it will only provide a boost to Major factions in Draenor after the release of Battle for Azeroth. What this means is that if a faction isn't considered a major one in Draenor then the reputation gained on it will just be normal.
If there is anything else we can assist you with please do be sure to let us know! As we at the Blizzard family are always willing to assist you when we can.
<arasimus>
So let me get this clear. What is being said is that the level 3 Trading Post reputation boost only applies to 'major' factions in Draenor, and Shat'ari Defense (and by extrension Laughing Skull) are not 'major' factions in Draenor. What factions are considered 'major'?
Jhalzeepan
Good morning, <arasimus>. I hope that the day is treating you well so far.
I'm Game Master Jhalzeepan and I've received your support request today. I'll be digging into this
I've had a chance to review your request and I understand that you've a question regarding the reputation gains bonus of the Trading Post, Level 3
The faction bonuses should apply to all factions other than Sha'tari Defense and the Laughing Skulls
Thanks again for contacting us today. I hope I can help out more next time our paths cross!
This ticket has been marked as Answered.
It seems ironic that the only faction the bonus doesn't work for is the one faction you gain access to by making the Trading Post (level 2) in the first place.
Note: Human rep bonus, Darkmoon Faire Wheeee! rep bonus, and guild battle standard rep bonuses did also function properly during this recent grind.

Doing this rep by endlessly killing demons in Shattrath Harbour makes me think of the South Park episode where they are killing boar after boar, and Cartman calculates how many boars they need to kill to level up. 65,340,285. I think that's roughly the same amount of Sargerei Destructors you need to kill to get from revered to exalted with this reputation.

Seems like it's been awhile since the last rep farm recommendations. My suggestion is to start at the Skymesa Great Hall, work your way down a bit to the elevator, kill the enemies at the base, then turn up into the Shattrath Residential District. Most elites will give 9 rep and some change, but it's the Rune Ritualists you want to look out for, giving just over 19 rep per kill. Terrorwing Commanders also give just over 19 rep, but they seem far less abundant. You can also kill rares repeatedly for 60 rep (the loot will only drop on the first kill though). Hope that helps!

Just buy the Medallions of the Legion, this grind is so slow and painful and boring, if you have the gold, the medallion will ease your suffering. I was about halfway through revered and I couldn't face it any more, so spent approx 30k to get exalted. All this for an ugly flamey elephant beast thing. Still, another mount down!

All the rares in this area of Shattrath each give 50 rep
with the Sha'tari Defense.
You can kill each rare multiple times per day for the rep
, but only once per day for loot!
I couldn't find
a list of
waypoints for only these rep-giving rares
, and considering
they respawn fairly quickly
, I decided to compile the list for my own use, and share it in case others would find it useful. This way, even if you've already killed the rares that day, you can easily find them again as they respawn, since rare trackers like NPCScan won't pick them up and notify you if you've already killed them that day (and are thus ineligible for loot). This way, you can just copy my waypoints, plug them into Paste addon, and go!
Happy farming! :)
(Please let me know if I missed any rares that award Sha'tari rep, and I'll
try
to remember to check this post and add them to the list.)

There are also 22x mobs in the immediate area that award 8 rep each.
(The waypoints are ordered starting in the north, then heading south down the west side of Shattrath; upon hitting the southernmost point, you will be heading back up north on the east side until you make a circle. Thus, if you go in order you will be time/travel-efficient. However, I can't seem to figure out how to tell TomTom to go in this order, and it seems that it doesn't want to no matter what I do! If anyone knows how to get TomTom to actually display the waypoints in the order that they appear on the list, I'd greatly appreciate it...)

The advice given by
DaemoniKira
below is no longer valid. One gets no reputation for killing these bosses.
I started out my killing spree with a rep of Revered 8529 and ended with the same exact rep despite having killed five of these bosses.
I have no idea what gives reputation for Sha'tari these days but it ain't these bosses....
