Seems to be basically the same as the old level 90 challenge, as such the comments on that page are helpful.

If you plan to use the group finder to raid it's worth doing as the raid leader can see your proving ground progress.

Don't be intimidated, it isn't really that tough.

Was quite entertaining to do it right after lvling 100 in sub-600 equipement. Quite easily doable in 5ppl heroic items.

Not sure what level scaling starts working better but at level 16 the dps died to anything in one hit. Particular fun when the mobs are dead and invoke fire ability drops fire in the middle as the NPCs run back to starting position and stand on top of it. The Jinyu ability kills dps before you know it. At least on the tank it's possible to get a dispel off.

So I wouldn't bother on a really low level. (Funnily enough I did the endless damage on the same character in Discipline spec and that wasn't remotely difficult.)
