You can get Hearthstone Wild Cards at the start of Play Hearthstone! quest.

You use Hearthstone Wild Cards, you get 5~6 Hearthstone cards. And you kill event boss, you get 0~2 Hearthstone cards.

Update March 15th:
- The event duration has been extended by 96 hours, and is now scheduled to end on Friday, March 22.
- For the remainder of the event, the boss portal will open every 30 minutes (was every 60 minutes).
- Players can now collect missing cards by using the Hearthstone Gameboard toy to defeat others in a friendly game. It will continue to drop cards after the event ends.

Every 30 minutes, an Ominous Portal with a 5-minute timer will spawn in Valdrakken, Stormwind and Durotar (Orgrimmar). Once the timer finishes, Whizbang will spawn and summon 3 iconic Hearthstone minions - Chillwind Yeti or Boulderfist Ogre, Patches and Dr. Boom.
Defeat them to earn Hearthstone-themed rewards!

Its a accountwide Achievment. All Characters from your Battle.Net Account will count do it.
To eliminate the chances to get a wild card drop: The wild cards are Unique (10). So buy them from nearby Shady Dealer till you have 10 of those. 5 cost 20 silver. As they are unique, you wont get more of those as random drop from the bosskill.

I notice that there's a lot of misinformation (or the problems were initially, and it's been fixed through "ghost hotfixes").

~~It doesn't seem like~~ the portals always spawn on the full hour. ~~Within the span of 30 minutes, I server-hopped four times between 3:30 PM and 4:00 PM with my character. Each time, a portal spawned and I received loot (transmog and green cards, but still no mount).~~

So, I'm not sure where the information about the portals spawning on the full hour and/or only getting loot once a day comes from. Here's what I can speculate: If you die in combat, which isn't unlikely due to the horrific lag, and release your spirit, and the boss dies during that time, you won't get loot—just like with any other encounter. So, it might be better to stay dead and wait for a rez during the fight, rather than releasing. Then, at least for me, loot still dropps.

UPDATE:

Never play on patch day :) Blizzard said they hotfixed the issue that portals in Stormwind spawned multiple times and not at the full hour.

Every hour, on top of the hour, portals will start spawning in the following locations following a rotation. These portals can spawn a little after the top of the hour depending on the phase. Portals seem to stop spawning at around xx:15 to xx:20.

Stormwind > Orgrimmar (outside the gates, in Durotar) > Valdrakken

~~However, I wasstill able to do multiple Portals in Stormwind and Valdrakken between 7:45 and 8:10 a.m. Will see if there will be more hotfixes.~~

UPDATE 2:

Blizzard released a new hotfix: Portals do now spawn every full hour at all 3 spots (Valdrakken, Stormwind, Orgrimmar).

i got this simple, i logged out of wow. logged in to hearthstone. logged out and back in... then logged out and in to wow n i had the mount in my mount log i had to unwrap it.

u play the game in wow to get the quest completion n u kill the mobs to get cards the mobs spawn about 30-45 min apart on average...

As if this event couldn't get more bugged, I got this achievement but I didn't get the toy. No sign of it in the toy box or in the bags of three alts I've been doing the event on. Nothing in their mailboxes either.

To eliminate the chances to get a wild card drop:

Just wanted to provide a possible work-around for everyone when it comes to the particular bug that you can not loot the boss even after tagging:

If you have more than 7 炉石百搭牌 it could block you from looting the corpse at the end.

Given this is/was event linked, is it now unobtainable...or is the HS event a new yearly thing?

You can still get this achievement by playing on a table (and winning ?) and get a card to add to your collection. I tried it today and got my first card which gave me progress.

So, how to find a table ? I know 2 ways for this (maybe there's more)

You can ask a friend that already have the achievement to summon a table, play with you and let you win.
You can go the the table located behind the story telling show during WoW anniversary, and have someone let you win.

But it may take some time and your friend need to be somewhat active and sit down at the table every 3/4 minutes, so you can also, use a second account (even free trial), take your favorite capital portal to Caverns of Time and play with yourself, so you won't bother anyone else.
