Also just managed Reverse Gold with 68.1s
I did Skyward Ascent (SA) whenever I needed to go upwards (see points listed below), otherwise spam Surge Forward (SF) whenever you get a charge, but be careful to not run out completely right before the flat parts. Aim for the edge of the curve of the rings and stay close to the ground whenever possible to recharge vigor, you really have to fly a quite perfect line here.

SA points:
2x right at the beginning (start "running" while pointing the camera upwards, hit it twice and then aim down into the first ring)
1x right after going through the ring at the lowest point of the first steep drop, on which you should NOT use your vigor while going down (right before the insect tunnel - make sure you're already pointed upwards when using SA to get the most out of it)
1x after the insect tunnel (as you're going up the stairs to those standing purple stones - if you don't have a vigor to speed through the stones, start over)
1x after the last sharp left corner (as you have to go up to a high ring once more before the last drop & final stretch)

Race Start:
Immediately hit 2, 2, 1.
Use 1 until the valley, then use 2, 1 to rise and barrel into the insect tunnel very fast.
After the insect tunnel, wait until you turn right into the ring before hitting 2 to climb the stairs.

Keep your corners tight and use vigor on cooldown after that.

Race End
Hit Skyward Ascent at the rise towards the end of the race, but wait until you are aimed downwards at the next ring before following it up with Surge Forward.
You should have enough vigor for one more Surge Forward to get you towards the finish line, maybe a second just before you go through the final ring.

The key to this one is get as high as you can immediately with two skyward ascents before you dive to the first ring.

follow mjmeowy's advice, but in for me it works when I save vigor in the beginning, only start spending them after the stair, burn like it like no tomorrow, 68.9s, 0.1s under.

I watched videos to get timing of how to get speed at the start and maintain it. Couldn't replicate it. Was always 2 or so seconds behind time.

Made my own path (2 1 2 at the start as fast as i could to get Thrill chaser activated) and made sure a couple things were needed. In the area where you would fight Buru surged through orb, ascended and surged before thrill wore off when you do that climb into the tunnels. When i got to the area you'd normally fight Moam in, conserved orbs by using them sparingly and then just spammed orbs by the end.

Same thing, 2 seconds off. Did other races, saw a post about switching to Windborne Veloidrake. Gold time with 2 seconds to spare very next race changing nothing. Go figure. Maybe what you need is just use a different drake?

You want to use a combo of dusama's & mjmeowy's advice - using the SA is crucial for the reverse race. But like most of the other races, you've got to be able to wait & charge up your vigor to have it pay you back.

1. Keep your vigor in the Thrill Chaser area at the start. Hit your two Ascents and aim down, and use one - and only one - surge forward to keep yourself in the rapid recharge area. I think it was after the second or third ring where I had to use it. Aim towards the bottom of rings to keep the thrill chaser active as long as possible. For me, not doing that instantly meant I wouldn't time.
2. Wait until AFTER the insect stairs to use any flap forwards one after another. I used one coming out of that first SA to keep me moving forward (sometimes I have an issue with not aiming the SA up correctly), and I used one more so that I wasn't "wasting" any vigor - don't let yourself just sit at full, you will fail. Once you get to the top of those stairs, fire off all the surge forwards you can. Give like a second or two between each one, but starting surge forwards after the stairs when you've resettled your flight path between the stones gives you all the vigor you need to finish out. If you've done it correctly-ish, you'll have one more vigor to take you between the second to last & last ring.

Also, make sure you go between the insect leg and the wall. Roughly 75% of the way through, like the second to last sharp left. That'll save you time too. Not a lot, but enough to push you over if you're close. Hug the turns & edges of the rings - you want to set yourself to be ready for the next ring up. It took me probably 2 dozen tries and trying what everyone else recommended before I went for a wombo combo. The first time I ran it, I had a 68.3. The second time, to confirm I had the money shot, I hit 67.

Be nice if they could actually test and balance this one properly for the next time this event comes up. Doesn't matter if people have come up with ways to fluke gold - it just needs a nerf. For starters it's IMPOSSIBLE to build up speed at the start thanks to dragonriding's terrible physics. Change that, and add a few more vigor orbs. And maybe just give dragonriding an "instant max speed" button while we're at it.

I found this one really hard at first. I spent two hours on attempts where I was 0.5-2s short every time.

But then I started out with SA>SA>SF and then proceeded to save ALL my vigor until the ascent right before the tunnel (where I only used SA once). And then once I got to the stairs going down, I was able to spam SF/SA through the rest of it. 67.8s
