I think you guys are looking at this item wrong. It isnt that great, if I understand it correctly. You must "use" to activate it. On your next heal, the shield is activated. If you holy nova, 5 people will be getting shieled for around 200 damage give or take. They only get this shield once...

Therefore its good for single target large heals. If you get hit for a 3k heal...you get a whopping 450 damage shield.

Not that great IMO?

Except that every heal for 30 seconds gets that shield benefit, and you can use it every three minutes. So it is pretty awesome.

This seems very valuable but only situationaly. If you are just healing the tank(s) the benefit will be pretty good as they will consume the shield by the time you cast another heal on them. If you are healing the raid in general a lot will go to waste.

A lot of the value of it stems from the fact that if you fully heal someone and they get the shield it's as if they had more total health (temporarily).

It would also be good in fights where everyone gets hurt like vael.

A shield is a way of saving "heals" on a certain character for upcoming damage. So this is only overhealing when the character wont receive any damage at all.

On a MT this means +15% to all your healing spells for 30 seconds. In a Vaelastrasz fight it means +15% to all healing spells for everyone, AND a shield for casters which means they can do a LOT more dps because they dont get interrupted by damage from Vael.

What i'm wondering about it the 30 seconds... Is it the time that the shield lasts on the target of your heals, or is it the time that the healer has the trinket buff (and the shield has a seperate timer).

This could be clarified with one of these wordings:

Use: For 30 seconds your magical heals provide the target with a shield that absorbs damage equal to 15% of the amount healed. The shield lasts up to 8 seconds.

Or...

Use: Your next magical heal provides the target with a shield that absorbs damage equal to 15% of the amount healed for 30 sec. The shield lasts up to 8 seconds.

Two very different meanings. Can anyone clarify which is the case?

I'm a assuming that this trinket is for ALL heals within the next 30secs and that the shield lasts 8 seconds, now can you imagine tranquility? everyone in your group would have a relatively permanent shield for the duration,I'm wondering if just the burst heal from regrowth would proc this or also the ticking heals every few secs

however with a priest the relatively same thing can be done with prayer of healing and their greater heals when they put on +healing buff (1.10 discipline talent) the shield will be very affective on the MT,wondering how this works with renew

This trinket will also remain useful after the expansion as it will shield yourself everytime you heal and is percentage rather than value

Aside all this if this counts only for 1 heal and the shield last 30seconds then this thing deserves to be downgraded to green,

It says "your magical heals". In pluralis. Not next.

The question is, does it work on HoT spells?

I, for one, would love to use this during Vael fights. Because, the poster above who said "if you can't beat Vael you don't have this trinket" is correct, but Vael is a very random encounter. Even BWL farming guilds wipe at him sometimes. Therefore, this trinket is lovely for Priests during that fight.

I can also imagine using it in other situations. :)

spamming someone with heals when this is up is basicly giving that person/persons 15% of the heal in extra hp. that's good in many situations. think group heal at 30% huhuran or mt healing at any spike damage or/and mortal striking boss in the game. then the pvp part with helping ms'd flagcarriers survive. one of the three items I really really want from aq (the others beeing the staff (check) and the cloak from cthun (give now)). the ring is pretty good aswell I supose but not in any way half as usefull.

This actually makes over healing with big heals extremely useful. In fact it just makes any over heal to someone actually worth it, or more worth it because of this shield.

Oh and to reply, The shield definetely willl not stack. That would definetely be overpowered. Imagine just loading the tank up with tons of heals / over heals right before the fight starts...or right before you run to cap an AB flag? I wouldnt' doubt it if the PW:Shield and this Trinkets shield stack though.

if you guys read , its not the shield that lasts 30 secs , but the item is *active* for 30 secs not ALWAYS when you cast a heal

i'm a resto-druid an got this one... and it's quite cool =)

so, to those of you, who don't understand how it works:

on activation it gives you a 30sec buff, which gives every direct heal you cast in this 30sec the shield. those shields last for 8sec and you don't get shields for HoTs or anything like that (i think it won't work on holy nova eather).

anyway, its realy good for PvP, enrage-bosses and (for me as a druid) for healing AoE-mages.
(and as a bonus, it's 15% which will make it still usable if you're lvl70 in BC an have 2000 +heal... ZHC is not... )

but in some fights, rejuvenating gem and shard of the scale will give you more benefits...

IMO This is one of the best/better trinkets. The benefit from +Healing is not as good as a sheild that absorbs 15% damage. If you think about it, the talisman of power isnt as good, as you get more "healing" from the 15% sheild. Also, Because almost all the rest of your gear has +healing or +mana/5sec a unique ability such as this has way more effectivness in combat. Situational, probably, but still a very good trinket.

Sham and priests will have more regen trinkets equipped, but druids with their larger heals, will give a larger shield, pro trinket.

To clarify the description:
Does this grant damage protection from one of your heals for 30 sec on a target, or does it stack your healing total over 30 sec in damage protection on a target? It's a bit unclear. Either way though, it's an insane trinket.

holy &*!@ thats good for a healer
if a pally got it:
1) use gear with lots of health
2) heal ppl for a while until almost out of mana
3) use trinket
4) LOH (when u have almost no mana)
5) mt can take more dmg
6) get more mana and get bak to healing
7) kill boss :)

maybe blizz should add something like this for casters that gives a dot that deals 15% of the spell's dmg over 9 secs, lasts for 30 secs. then again, maybe thats too cheap for mage/lock ;)

I would assume that it provides a shield for all heals over 30 seconds...that's how I read it anyway.

I was just imagining this on a crit spec'd inspiration priest spamming prayer of healing with this trinket activated. Shields + increased armor + the healing already provided. Be fairly impressive for a priest in the MT group.

Cooldown two or three minutes? I think that's the biggest question. Anyone who can confirm?

2) Do successive castings stack, or replace one another?

3) Is the shield based off the amount the spell heals for in the combat log, or the amount actually healed on the target?

this is not just a freaking druid item...
yeah with prayer of healing that trinket is the best if you acedently get a few too many mobs attacking everyone, pws yourself, pop the trinket, prayer of healing, the new shield on yourself should be enough to allow you to cast prayer of healing again without getting interupted and this continues untill the trinkets effect wears out

The way it works is basically you pop the trinket, each heal you throw during the 30 second duration also gives the target a shield that absorbs dmg equal to 15% of that heal. You cannot stack the shields. It doesn't share cooldown with ZHC so they can be used together. And the cooldown is 3 min =). Hope it answers a question or two out there. Oh and yeah it doesn't matter if the heal overhealed some amount, it still gives the 15% of the total heal.

Does the effect stack with faith second set bonus (on greater heal critical hits your target is protected with a holy shield that absorbs up to 500 dmg). Could be fun to pop out this trinket and cast gheal rank5 with inner focus and watch when your target gets 750 shield + 500 shield + 942 shield :)

Too bad this fight is rediculously hard for alliance. WTB poison cleanse totems.

actually, both shard of the scale and rejuvenating gem outclass this item
on the long run. This is something nice for PoH encounters like world dragons
or huhuran berserk mode, but when it comes to keeping the MT up you'll be
better with the 2 previously named items.

and second, this item is suited best for a priest, i works on prayer of healing
so you can give 5 shields every 3.5 sec in a max of 30 sec :)

Fixed a bug with the 甲虫胸针 item that prevented the 持续护盾 proc from this item from applying to new targets in certain scenarios.

This was an accidental omission and this bug fix should be present and available on the 1.13.6 PTR now.

It's not very good. It only works on direct heals, unlike it claims with 'magical heals'. It's of use for tank healers as tanks are the only ones taking consistent damage on most fights, however they're usually buff capped and thus would not appreciate this trinket kicking off Ony or DM T. Leaving only few bosses it can be used for such as Vael / Firemaw in BWL and Viscidus in AQ40. Personally I'd use it combined with PoH / Chain Heal. Don't waste EPGP / DKP on this, there's plenty of trinkets out there that are far greater.

This Trinket is criminally underrated!

It is one of the best trinkets for group healing on encounters with frequent heavy raid damage like sapphiron. Its long 30 sec duration is great. The shield it applies last for only 8 seconds so you better know when raid damage goes out. Its also decent in pvp. But most important the effect doesn't get nerfed b4 cata prepatch so you can enjoy this trinket for years to come.
