For some reason I see lots of shaman gear coming from the 1.9 patch.

No, you are just seeing lots loaded up now. All of the other classes and paladins got their gear loaded a long time ago into the Allakhazam archives. Now they are loading the shaman gear because Horde are actually attending AQ now.

At some point, this item was removed from the drop table on Live as shown here: 灼沙长靴#comments. It may have occurred during the TBC Prepatch when Blizzard made it so that Shaman and Paladin gear could drop on either side. As we move into TBC Classic, let's get a confirmed drop for this item: If you are reading this and get a drop after/during Phase One of TBC Classic, please let us know!
