Talking with this NPC is a requirement for 火线闲聊.
I can confirm that he is present on the first day I have been able to access the Firelands (Phase 2).
He walks around quite a bit on the first plateau, sometimes going into the cave.
I suggest using

/tar commander

with target tracking turned on.

Started Molten Front (Malfurion's Breach) yesterday. Tried to find the Commander today but he wasn't anywhere to be found. Not sure if he will be back tomorrow with different dailies, etc or if I missed my one chance to talk with him.

Alright for you who think its bugged, its not, it depends on how many quests in hyjal you have completed, trust me I had the same problem as the above comments.
Here is what you want to do, I decided to complete all quests in Hyjal. I completed the quest up to and including .
Jarod will spawn infront of you a few quest before completing this quest, I'm not sure if he will spawn in Molten Front before completed though.
After completing this you will be able to see him in Molten Front :)

If you have got the achievement for Mount Hyjal quests you will be able to start all the missing quests at The Forge Of Supplication, atleast thats where I found them :)

Jarod Shadowsong is the younger brother of Maiev Shadowsong, and was commander of the Kaldorei Resistance during the War of the Ancients.
Jarod was a minor captain in the city guard of Suramar and was unofficially promoted when he returned accompanied by Malfurion Stormrage, Tyrande Whisperwind, Krasus / Korialstrasz, Rhonin, and Broxigar. Jarod was put in charge of guarding these important personages and became a valuable supporter of Lord Ravencrest.
Following the conclusion of the War, Jarod was named one of the major leaders of the night elf civilization (the others being Tyrande Whisperwind, Malfurion Stormrage and Dath'Remar Sunstrider). Unfortunately for him, he is the first to discover that Illidan Stormrage was attempting to create a new Well of Eternity. He attempts to stop him, but is badly beaten by the other's vast command of the arcane. When they discover him, Maiev and Shandris quickly go to tend to him. A furious Maiev then attempts to kill Illidan for harming her brother, but is stopped by Tyrande and Malfurion. Jarod later agrees to his imprisonment. He is present during the birth of Nordrassil, and the blessing it recieved from the Dragon Aspects. He also helps guide his people in finding a new place, and new ways, to live. Jarod was known to have at least partly returned the affection of Shandris Feathermoon.

Just spoke to him today, was able to find him after doing Slash and Burn, have NOT done the other quest people are saying you need to do.

Just talked to him during my 2nd phase (3rd day dailing). He's running around the cave in the MF, might be tricky to target.

I'm doing the dailies on 2 toons atm, on one toon i have Jarod walking around and on the other toon there isn't Jarod anywhere, even when i see him and quickly log out other toon can't see him. Both toons have done all the quests and what not so I'm not sure what i did or didn't do ?

Edit: Yes thx alot guys it was Twilight Riot chain from the outhouse. Jarod now shows up at the molten front after complete'n the chain.

guyz i dont have jarod shadowsong and i cant get the quest ... from where i can get the quest cuz i really need jarod shadowsong .. Thank you in advance

I love how they screw you over if you chose Vashj'ir to level in instead of Hyjal. You're basically forced to waste time going through the Hyjal quests to unlock the Molten Front in the first place, and THEN for one of the metas you need to waste more time doing more Hyjal quests.

If you cant find him, go and check she handles a bunch of quests which will eventually lead to . You'll meet him on the quest . Chain starting with .

Figured I would add this in since this was where I got stuck.
If you have not done any quests that take place AFTER ! 托尔托拉 is now free from his chains & this may be a good place to start. is the one you want to do. After this, it is very easy! Just do all the quests until you get a nifty cut scene!

After completing many Molten Front dailies, I was almost finished getting my last of the three 125 Mark of the World Tree quests and I couldn't find Commander Jarod Shadowsong anywhere.

For 火线闲聊, I completed a lot of the quests in Hyjal before 4.2 came out but never got around to completing . This quest is crucial in order for Jarod to be an NPC in Molten Front.

To find this quest, you will have to make your way over to and complete and in order to continue to Slash and Burn.

After completing this small quest chain, I went to Molten Front and immediately saw him walking around the main camp area.

One of the quotes from Jarod at Malfurion's Breach got my attention:

"Rest? We can rest when we are buried in our graves. Today we must fight!"

Actually this (although not exactly the same) is one of my favorite quotes of Conan from the early 'Conan the Barbarian' black & white comics.
If I'm not mistaken this is also heard in the first movie, when Mako (the wizard) speaks about the battle with Doom (iirc).

So it may be a reference to the comic or the movie.

This drove me crazy! He doesn't show in the Molten Front until you complete the quest Twilight Riot (thank you yow384) in Mt Hyjal. I completed all the quests in Molten Front (got my mount) and the 115 quests in Mt Hyjal, so I figured he would be there....nope, had a macro nothing. Once I completed the quest (turned on my low level quest detector on and flew around Doom's Vigil) Twilight Riot, he was there!

Just in case you're a derp like me looking in the description and seeing in the achievement description "Jarod Shadowsong" and spamming /tar Jarod.... note that he is a commander. lol. Took me forever to figure that out and the second I did /tar Commander there he was. ><
Or maybe I'm the only one that... slow. lol
(Btw this was before I searched it on WoWhead! Was just going off the achieve).
