I cant find a regular mountain lion to save my life! the only ones i find are hulking and starving mountain lions but no plain ones.

% of Lion Meat are definitively lower than the 67%, 68% posted, more in the range of 15-20%

It looks to me that the 山地狮's were driven out by the new human populations! I'm sad and disappointed. I just needed to farm 狮肉 to level my cooking. But now I'm considering an alternative since it seems that Blizzard has made them extinct. =(

I didn't find one single Mountain Lion after fine-combing the entire Hillsbrad Foothills area - I did, however, found plenty of Foothill Stalkers (level 22-23) chasing Hill Stags & Fawns - these stalkers do drop Lion Meat and the rate seems to be decent, got one from almost all of them - the location was the area of between The Sludge Fields and Tarren Mill and their respawn rate is quite fast. I hope this is helpful to other leveling cooks out there :)

This cat can be found near Corrahn's Dagger (46.80) in Alterac Mountains, near the Alliance entrance to Alterac Valley.

it does appear in the event log....usually takes one gain in loyalty before it appears...this is true for MOST pet abilities

For the love of Thrall, turn on Track Beast. There's a reason the other classes call us #$%^&*!s cause so many of us forget out basic spells and don't exploit them properly.

On a note: For some reason, cats that stealth in the wild can't when tamed, and ones that can don't. Does'nt make sense to me, but these cats aren't stealthed. At least, none that I saw. So use Track Beast, not Hidden. And with the new patch notes, you can toss your Track icons off the action bars cause they're on the drop down on the map now. More room for 5 other things in my action bars now.

Go to the road that leads up from Tauren Mills. When you get to the Ogre vear LEFT. For thoes of you able to follow visual directions, you simply need to go up till you see the green V on the left side of the map. Get on the left side of the V.

You will be running up a narrow way (no marked path) towards a meadow on a hill. There are humans to your left (not friendly of course) an lions on your right.

Most of them are 33-34, you'll have to search a bit for the few that are 32. Cast beast lore and for Thrall's sake remember your Eagle Eye spell when scouting for that level 32. I can't beleive how many hunters forget Eye of Beasts and Eagle Eye when playing... and wonder why they die. (BTW, right clicking these buffs will undo them before the full minute is up)

Clear the mobs with existing dispossable pet. By disposable, I mean that I keep the last pet around that I learned a new spell from then use them to clear the mobs from their replacement.

These lions have a LONG wander range and if you keep backing up, you will run into other wandering lions. I way trying to do my /emote to thank my former pet (hyena taught me cower 3) cause that's just polite and almost ran into a level 34 (I'm a new minted 32).

I waited till she turned around and went the other way and followed. When I was well away from the mobs she had wandered too close to, I checked my tame range, set a freeze trap, shot consussive and hit tame. Freeze wears off before tame does but she hardly scratched me before she became all mine.

When she went to my side, I'm happy to say she hardly shrank at all and immediately went into prowl. Take her out of prowl manualy (it's a manual thing that the hunter has to do) and feed her. Once, wait. Twice, wait. Last time, wait. She should be green happy if you fed her food for her level. Three pieces is all that's needed (I used big bear steaks) but keep more around cause at level 1 loyalty, she looses happiness quickly. Prolly from remembering being wild when I siced her on former friends.

Put her back in prowl and go hunting. When I put her in prowl manualy, I immediatley learned the new skill. When she attacking one after another stealthed (cause I did'nt unstealth her to feed her myself) she wasn't learning it. YOU have to learn it. Meaning YOU have to know how it works before the game gives you credit.

BONUS ROUND: Tried this at the risk of my own precious life... Eyes of the Beast work on this sweat baby. Course they do, you say? Well, it works stealthed too! I got curious and stealthed her, put myself on Eyes and took her for a stroll around the human camp. They were a level above her and had no idea she was there!

If you don't have a pet that can learn this already, get one! Prowl givs you most of the advantage of this rogue/druid ability. The excpetion being that, and even druids get kicked here, you can't pick stuff up in cat form. It's only good for scouting, but SURE to come in handy in groups who don't have a rogue.

PPL PPL PPL! wen u tame a pet and c that it has an ability u want u have to grind like 10 or more monsters with it in order to get that ability. itll say "learned prowl rank 1" jus remeber this al thru out ur hunter or ppl will think of u as a !@#$%^& dont wants em to think that do u?

Any idea if it's possible and if so how, I can get from Southshore to where these lions are while avoiding any horde cities (*cough* Tarren Mill *cough*) so I don't get utterly slaughtered?

I have done my best to provide Map Mouseovers for each and every beast, wherever possible!
Unfortunately some do not yet have maps, but these will automatically be added to this post when they're added to the NPC's page.

The first attack from stealth receives a 20%/35%/50% bonus to damage. Lasts until cancelled.
Reduces movement speed by 50%/45%/40%.
