This seems to have been added mainly for Alliance since they don't have access to the Nat Pagle's Extreme Angler FC-5000.

According to El's Anglin' this pole can be acquired even after you completed the quest:

Anglers that have already completed the quest can return to Nat Pagle to claim the new pole. The pole binds to the angler when picked up.

This was added because a quest is no longer required to advance beyond 225 fishing.

So instead of removing the original quest, you just get this pole for your troubles instead.

now, when alliance complete this quest, they can pick up their pole years later, but why can't horde pick up there pole from the horde equivelant quest for the exact same pole?

I can't wait to get this one, as I have been trying to win the fishing contest for several months now and I have some special fishing line just waiting to go on a new +25 pole.

Question is: why is the DPS only 5? Seeing as how most people who get this will be level 30+ , that seems kind of puny. The Big Iron pole had 19 DPS and that was available at level 25. I know it's a silly complaint, but the DPS does come in handy when some beast (or ganker, the same thing really) strays to close to my favorite fishing spot.

One other thing, it's really too bad they couldn't give this a new model. This one and this one both got new models but not the nat pagle pole. Oh well, next patch maybe?

I just completed this quest on my 85 rogue. Picked up the quest to see Nat from Org, picked up the actual quest from Nat, did the fishing, have the "new" pole as well as my old FC-5000. So yes it works great in Cataclysm.

Just got this on my 85 priest ... i was looking for some waterlogged wreckage when i remembered Nat chills out there, visited him to see whats up - he told me he forgot to give me this, and all i had to do was hit complete quest.... :)

I think it's sad that I got the 纳特-帕格的超级钓鱼竿FC-5000型 better fishing pole before even getting this quest - only requires fishing 100 (rather than 225) and does more damage, too, even if it ups your fishing skill by 5 less... and it has it's own graphic! Reward from which is the horde version, you can get it as alliance also (according to the page).

Now why did the fishing pole link show up in the 'live preview' and not the quest? Hrm.

Some fishing poles in game since patch 1.11.1 with some helpful tips:

■ 鱼竿 can buy from any trader and is a reward from 美味的红钳鱼 (Alliance only), generally its used for increase fishing skill on beginning.

■ 强化钓鱼竿 can buy from specific vendors in world, them can sell only one item.

■ 斯塔斯的鱼竿 reward from in Darkshore (Alliance only).

■ 暗木鱼竿 fishing low drop in some low level areas.

■ 粗铁鱼竿 low drop from 贝壳陷阱.

■ 纳特-帕格的超级钓鱼竿FC-5000型 reward from 钳嘴，小子！ (Alliance side) and (Horde side).

■ 塞瑟的石墨鱼竿 reward from 宁可去钓鱼 (Shattrath City).

■ you can get it if you are honored with , require the Mists of Pandaria expansion.

■ 纳特的好运鱼竿 reward from 钓鱼专家纳特·帕格, 钓鱼专家纳特·帕格 for who completed this quest before the quest trainer for Artisan Fishing was removed in 3.1.0

■ 奥金钓鱼竿 reward from world event of Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza for to first player who catch 斑点可口鱼x40 and give 林格·巴斯贝特, completing 钓鱼大师, its is the best pole in game with high fishing skill.

■ 珠宝鱼竿 low drop from 一袋金光闪闪的宝贝 (Fishing Quest Daily in Stormwind and Orgrimmar), even a lvl 10 can obtain this item, and 钓鱼宝藏 (Fishing Quest Daily in Dalaran) you must be lvl 70 and got the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. Also if you catch the 黑鳍鲨 but you are not the first person who completed it, you gain the bag in 祝下次好运.

■ 骨质鱼竿 low drop from 一袋金光闪闪的宝贝, same work with 珠宝鱼竿.

■ you can get it if you are revered with , require the Mists of Pandaria expansion.

■ 精致的卡鲁亚克鱼竿 can buy from 塞鲁克 (Dragonblight) or 塔奈卡 (Howling Fjord), you must be Exalted with 卡鲁亚克, its the best pole with cool model and unique breathing underwater in game, you must have the expansion Wrath of the Lich King if you want this item.

Some itens removed or in database of game but you cant ever got:
■ Crafty's Pole this item appear in database of Lich King expansion, probably in patch 3.2 or 3.3, cannot be obtained in live realms.
■ 布拉普家族鱼竿 is no longer available in game because the 古博·布拉普 disappear, so 斯塔斯的鱼竿 and the replace.
