In WotLK, Swipe will damage 4 targets instead of 3.
Combined with this it attacks 5 targets, And that's how Druids will AOE tank.

I get the feeling that now that it's been changed to Maul, it's going to be even more effective.

Swipe does consist of using the GCD, while Maul is simply an "on next attack" move, meaning you can still use abilities such as Mangle, which means if you're only tanking two, Maul now will possibly work instead of having to change targets to use other moves. Admitted, another hit with Swipe is cool, but this makes double-tanking so much better, in my opinion.

There's not much in the way of bear glyphs, other than Frenzied Regen. Maul hitting 3 targets is better than Maul hitting 2 =)

An other interesting side-effect of this glyph is that a feral can apply the infected wound (aka feral-thunderclap) debuff on more than one target at once. This should be very helpful when multitanking. I think it worths the risk of braking a sheep - mages these days spam sheep till the `dust settles down' so this shouldn't be a problem.

This may seem obvious, but I found it a little bit confusing - with the glyph and the new talent you need to have the bleed on both of the mobs, not only on your main target. Just to clear things out :)

This glyph is not a must, but is handy. To who ever said the maul comment earlier.

Ive found that maul is tons more threat than lacerate. Swipe is also more threat than lacerate for me, however i need lacerate for the increased damage on maul.

typically i do maul/mangle, lacerate. maul, and i might throw in a few swipes every now and then.

The old days of spamming lacerate x3 to 1 mangle maul when you have too much rage are over.

The only problem with this is it has a very large range, it almost always breaks cc in HMGT no matter where i stand.

One thing i'm glad about is we won't need to change our Glyphs every time we go from tank to dps as feral. Two DPS glyphs, two tank glyphs. For 5 man instances, I would probably get this glyph, but drop it for raids, so that I can have Rip, Mangle and Frenzied Regeneration.

In my experience, when Maul can hit two targets, it will hit the same two targets (until either one of them dies, of course; when this happens, a new nearby target is selected, probably by random). Pretty useful glyph when soloing multiple mobs, if you get in a pinch in cat form. Among the best glyphs for tanking pre-Lacerate.

I use this glyph to aoe down non elite mobs.

Round up 10 to 15 mobs.
Enrage, Berserk, roar
Spam mangle and que maul
Swipe/Maul when berserk wears off

got this on my druid at 22, and i have to say it has made tanking MUCH easier, and has helped to kill many small groups of mobs while in bear form. Probably the best glyph to get for a leveling feral druid.

If your going to tank, this glyph is extremely handy. Allowing maul to hit an extra target will not only increase your dps, but will greatly increase your agro. I will typically hold a group of mobs and spam maul and swipe and no matter how many targets I have, Maul always seems to account for between 30%- 40% of my damage and with R&T, you can tab targets and throw a lacerate on them while continuing the maul/swipe combo for even more agro/dps. IMO this is a must for tanking and should be chosen well before Mangle since the benefit for that in bear form is minimal at best.

THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST TANKING GLYPHS! ... End of Story ...

I had HUGE problems with AoE tanking in heroics , since most peoples' thinking nowday is " HEYYY , everyone says that heroics now are sooo ez , so when there is a group of 4 elites ... let's just nuke the *!@# out of them " ... or a healer giving you a heal before/or when / first mob hits you ...

And no ... Swipe is NOT enough to hold agro on 4 mobs ... how can be enough when there is not threath multiplyer on it and it crits for 800 roughly , when all the dps is over 2k non-crits ...

Here is where maul comes handy ... HIGH AMOUNT OF THREAT ... maul-ing 2 mobs , while swipe-ing , gives you enough agro to hold them for ages ..

Dunno about you guys but given the ease of heroics even in wotlk i never let my party member's CC anything unless they do heavy damage to all the group...such as those casters in old kingdom which i choose to nuke first. This glyph is brilliant and there isn't a wide selection of glyphs for feral to choose from anyway.

This is a great one. As a druid tank this vastly improves threat in AoE pulls, use a simple maul / lacerate target rotation even if you are tanking 3+ and it spread out the hits very nicely. Also, as a (usually) offtank in raids, this massively increases my damage done. As one of the worst geared (in tank gear) in a 25man naxx, I was 9th on the damage meter over all (all tanking) because of all my AoE damage (swipe, glyphed maul, berserk + mangle). The other tanks were around 18-20. I'm not really sure whether to laugh or cry when a tank can out-dps the dps without too much issue...

Edit: As to any CC-breaking concerns...

I don't see much CC used anymore in Heroics or raids... the ***occasional Hex maybe (VERY occasional), but that doesn't break on damage. Most tanks don't even allow CC, and if someone does, they break it with whatever they can. Fights are too OMFG-AOE these days, methinks.

OK it may be just me but in an earlier UK run I was doing. there were four mobs.

I started off on Skull and my maul glyph was hitting X so i hadn't even touched the other two or swiped at all. And all of a sudden I have aggro on them all solid. I'm starting to think that maul targets the nearest mob with the lowest aggro. If I'm wrong then...i dunno what the hell I did. :>

people talk about maul then mangle then lacerate ext, i cannot understand thier reasoning because:

Maul is OFF the gcd, it applies to next melee swing, just like heroic strike, you dont have to decide, lacerate the mob or maul the mob, DO BOTH AT THE SAME TIME.

You should never have rage issues if you are being attacked, i never have

Maul should REPLACE your autoswing, ESPECIALY with this glyph.

your rotation should be to mangle and lacerate each mob(sometimes i swipe for initial agro just to be sure) this way your Maul is getting massive buffs from rend and tear+mangle debuff. when there is a fury warrior i usualy leave out lacerate as they will WW crit and they will all be bleeding anyway, but mangle is still better than swipe for the GCD usualy. This rotation should be used WHILE mauling constantly.

actually there are 4 tanking glyphs, you forgot about the most important one in a raid environment: Glyph of Growl
Since taunts get treated as spells, and therefore would need more hitrating than is normal meelee cap to always hit, the glyph effectively takes it down to normal meelee hitcap and thus makes your Growl way more likely to hit.
In certain bossfights a missed taunt can result in a wipe, so I'd certainly take this one over the Maul glyph

The maul glyph is however great for heroics and the such, where taunting isn't as imperative, for example I also used the Glyph of Hammer of the Righteous, which hast about the same utility effect, for heroics with my pally tank just for the comfort of it, and switched to my respective class' Taunt glyph later on :)

I say that glyph of berserk is a tanking glyph ... the berserk bonus in mangle for bears is just awesome and it doubles as a cat glyph if u do some DPSage. I would go Maul, Berserk,Frenz Regen or Survival in. How do u miss with a growl anyway ... its noise ... u growl in the wrong direction they are stil gonna hear ya lol

In Patch 3.3.5, this was Glyph of Maul (Major) - Your Maul ability now hits 1 additional target.

In Patch 4.0.1, it has been changed to Glyph of Maul (Major) - Your Maul ability now hits 1 additional target for 50% damage.

I have a question on this: I know the additional 2nd target only gets hit with 50% of the damage of maul, but does that mean the first original target has the damage from maul reduced by 50% as well? Does it add extra free damage to a 2nd target or does it take half the damage from the original target and apply that to a 2nd target? In other words, do you lose 50% damage if you're fighting a single target?
