This recipe is one of the few recipes from before the expansion that should retain it's value afterwards. Will this be a trainer recipe at some point in the expansion? Otherwise it might be only rarely dropped due to items of it's level not being on the drop table of level 70 content.

Yano..I have enough trouble believing that hanging a carrot in front of my MECHANOstrider entices it to go faster. How the hell is whipping a piece of metal supposed to make it move faster?

anyway, this is an excellent enchant, and probably a staple for any serious enchanter. One of the only truly coveted enchants, along with 15agi to 1h and Crusader.

I have the mithril spurs, the carrot on a stick, and the riding crop. I thought they would all stack, but they don't. I time my mount with a stopwatch and here is what I got. I repeated each measurement 3 times to make sure I could measure accurately:

riding crop + spurs + carrot: 6.62s 6.68s 6.64s
riding crop alone: 6.68s 6.62s 6.55s
nothing equiped: 7.37s 7.31s 7.25s

It appears that the items do not stack. Once you have a riding crop, you can just ditch all the other stuff.

My guess is it's the same as the run speed enchant, which is 8%. That's not a definite answer, just a guesstimate.

And Unitepunx, the spurs, carrot, and enchant don't stack. It was mentioned earlier.

Spurs, carrot, and enchant DO STACK! The riding crop is what doesn't stack with anything (and is also what was mentioned about). There was a very detailed comment about this at thottbot, someone put a lot of time and effort into explaining it all, so I think I'll bring that information here since I found it very useful. There was a better post with much more information, but it was formated oddly and so I couldnt simply copy and paste. This post will more then safice however.

Ok, First I am a 365 LW on Medivh Horde that can make this free with your mats if you need it.
Second people dont seem to know how to look in the forums for answers first, so ill try to lighten the Blue posters job load a little.

The Pre-BC speed enchants are Mithril Spurs (4%), Carrot on a Stick (3%), and Riding Skill to gloves enchant (2%) = 9% total speed increase.
The Riding Crop does not stack with any of those three, nor with crusader aura, nor does it work with druidic flight form. It also wasn't designed to. QQ more.
Riding Crop = +10% Speed increase
There are several blue posts confirming that the Riding Crop does not stack with anything else, and that it is a simple 1 stop replacement for the pre-existing mount speed increase items/enchants so as to save space/let you enchant your gear with what you want and not have a seperate set just to ride fast.
These same posts confirm that the +10% that the riding crop is the most mount speed increase that the game is currently designed/allowed to give you.
the Riding Crop was never intended to be a huge increase of speed, just a convenience issue.
However, I have done the math on this, as well as done several tests as to the speed traveled with the 3 pre-bc items/enchants mentioned above, as compared to the Riding Crop for those that place an emphasis on speed.

Your normal run speed =100%
Regular land/flying Mount = 160%
Epic Land mount = 200%
Swift Flying mount (commonly referred to as an epic mount because it requires epic flying skill, but actually the mount is rare, not epic) = 200% Running / 380% Flying
Epic PVP armored Netherdrake = 200% Running, 410% Flying

With the first 3 Pre-BC speed enchants
Normal running mount = 174.4% Rovement speed
Epic running mount = 218% Running speed
Normal flying mount = 174.4% Running and flying speed
Swift flying Mount = 218% Running speed / 414.2% Flying speed
Epic PVP armored Netherdrake = 218% Running speed / 446.9% flying speed

With the crop,
Normal running mount = 176% Rovement speed
Epic running mount = 220% Running speed
Normal flying mount = 176% Running and flying speed
Swift flying Mount = 220% Running speed / 418% Flying speed
Epic PVP armored Netherdrake = 220% Running speed / 451% flying speed

The Riding crop is therefore faster than the Pre-BC mount speed increase items, and allowes you to either not have to lug riding gear boots/gloves with you, or allow you to put more usefull enchants on your boots/gloves.
as several blizzard developer posts have said on the blizzard forums...the intention of the riding crop was to be a replacement of the carrot so that you could use the enchant slots on your boots gloves, as well as go slightly faster than what was already there, NOT to make your mount twice as fast, a rocket sled, or anything else overpowered when it came to speed.

In addition, there is some confusion about crusader aura. The riding crop does NOT stack with crusader. Crusader aura adds 20% speed to the mount you are using, which is 240%speed on an epic land mount...the 10% Increased mount speed of the crop is increases mount speed by 10% not adding 10%. Therefore 10% of 200 is 20 so riding crop=220% speed on an epic land mount...
There are plenty of threads on this here that have confirmed that the most speed increase you can get from ITEMS is 10% which is what the crop gives. The pre expansion items combined gave 9% so it is a replacement, as well as a little faster.

You either want the freed up enchant slots/bag space or not when it comes down to it. the speed is alot more for some (those that only had the carrot and not the spurs/glove enchant) and very little to others (those that used all three), but a speed increase none the less.

I hope that this will help people to understand this well, and people won't continue to perpetuate any of the false info floating about regarding this issue.

Put this enchant on some white cloth gloves (and mithril spurs on some white cloth boots) with a minimum required less than 30, such as Padded Gloves (and Padded Boots).

Once you upgrade to the riding crop, you can sling the gloves and boots in your bank and hand them down to the next alt you roll.

Incredibly hard to get. I spent the past few months checking the AH on my realm regularly and I've never seen it on there.

QFT. I'm on a crazy high pop server with a highly rapid AH. I check the AH probably 8-10 times a day. I literally browse it for the few BoE enchants and tailor patterns that I'm missing every time I get near a major city. Over 96% of recipes in game for both professions.... seriously WTB. lol if those molten core farmers think 29sp/30sp sells well, they can't imagine what I would pay for this.

World Dragon farming is your best bet. I'm hoping there's a resurgence of people wanting this enchant while leveling up their new Goblin and Worgen characters for Cataclysm. I sure know I'll be using this + mithril spurs!

Someone put this formula on AH for 50 silver (Bladefist EU) - I'm dead f***ing serious. God I'm starting to love ppl who don't use wowhead. The formula is easily worth 5k gold. I never saw it on AH in 3 years checking it on my enchanting toon.

Looking at the extremely low drop rates and the fact that you will probably never see it again, DO NOT put this on the auction house for 400g or even 5kg. I took a wild guess and threw mine up on the AH for 25,000 and it was bought up within a day.

So go big before you decide to settle for a lower price.

There is some way to farm these rare recipes because now out of the blue these as many other "once rare" recipes start to appear in the AH regularly.

Don't be fooled and pick overpriced recipes yet, because as people find out how to farm them their prices will go down.

This one for example, now 3 of them appeared in the AH in 2 days, it's definitelly not a coincidence.

This formula 公式：附魔手套 - 骑乘技能 like 公式：附魔盾牌 - 冰霜反射 is a world drop and is not farmable. These enchants used to drop from the world dragons in vanilla. Now your best chance is the AH although I havent seen one posted in a year or so. I am currently looking for this one as well. Perhaps this week 奈法利安 will be so kind and drop it for me. :)

In case it isn't obvious, the suggested sale price here is ludicrously outdated. I just sold this on my server for 10k. It is probably one of THE RAREST enchanting formulas in the game, and may even end up being removed. At Cataclysm/Mists gold levels, 10k is more than reasonable for an item of this magnitude.

Edit - I don't know WHY someone would downrate this. My statement is completely factual and useful. One would be foolish to list this in the auction house for 499g.

I have the carrot, spurs and enchant. I also use them with the Rider add-on which puts them all in when you mount.

The thing is, do you all put the enchant and spurs on just crap you found in AH or your main gear? I bought some crappy cloth gloves and boots to put the stuff on and it works fine for me. The only thing i'm worried about is if I get dismounted in pvp, say concussive shot, charge stun etc..will it switch back to my main gear, or will it leave me in the crap gear because I'm considered "in combat"?

I think the confusion with 100% of mount speed (100% + 75%) comes from the fact that some are referring to the normal level 40 mount speed as 100%. But when used in the same context as the description of the mount (speed increased by 60% of normal run speed), you can't use 100%. Therefore, the 15% increase caused by equipping the carrot and getting the mithril spurs and riding enchant would be a 75% increase (60% from lvl 40 mount + 15%) to normal run speed when mounted. Not 175% or even 115%. Just thought I'd clear that up for everyone.

I created a scripted macro that changes my gloves and boots and equips my carrot when i mount up and another that replaces my normal gear when I dismount.

The enchant and spurs and carrot are all worth every copper.

- This is a simple macro, but it will switch your gear even if you can't mount. I suggest either selecting a different looking pair of gloves from your normal ones, or add code to whisper yourself a note that you've mounted.
- It is also advisable that you NOT use this macro when talking to a vendor. It will sell the equipment in the designated slots. Not lethal, you can always buy them back, but a pain.

Just to note to all Beast Mastery Hunters, this is a useless ench, because we get an 8% boost which DOESN'T stack with any other effects. Spurs, carrot on a stick, riding crop etc.

and at the right time too! 2G BUYOUT YES!

and im still using it since I dont have a riding crop..

I transferred to Crushridge recently and will do the enchant for 15g my mats, and any tip with your mats...

That's why you put the enchant on a different pair of gloves, and only use those gloves when you mount up. Idiot.

Was checking this drop after my chanter hit 250, thought id never find it after checking the drop rates. Selling for 90g+ on Malorne horde side. Later that day i go questing in the hinterlands, did the quest for Lard's lunch, i pretty near pissed myself laughing when i pulled this out of the quest reward Lard's special picnick basket lol, wow im never this lucky.

As for those who think this is a poor enchant compared to others, they're absolutely right. But also notice, that there are addons that allow fast swapping of equipment by keybinding or pressing a button - you can even make your own addon so that when you mount you automatically change to a different outfit. That having said, the total 18% speed increase (with epic mount) is very handy and as you spend alot of time with travelling through WoW (30% of your time online, calculate how much time that is since you started playing)I couldn't possibly live without this.

There are several mods out there that change your your equpied items when you get on and off your horse. I use the mod called "wardrobe". It is very nice. If I get knocked off of my horse it changes to my non riding gear as soon as I get out of battle. I can understand why a rogue or hunter might want agility instead. It all depends on what you are doing. I have so many chanes of closes I have room for this on one set. I can change my clothes at the click of a button. If you do the new AB you have got to have your rding gear on at the begining. If you don't the other side will get the flag b4 you.

This does make it faster. When AV still existed I was always the first to Iceblood graveyeard. If you are going on any kind of long ride it is a must to have all the improvements.

This is on Azgalar AH for 200g right now. I think it normaly goes for 100g-150g. I think somebody is a bit hopefull.

heh. just got this off a level 1 gold farmer for 25g. he listed it for 20g no buyout.. told him id buy it right now for 20.. he says 30.. i say 25.. he agrees.

With the enchant, carrot and the spurs you get a 215% speed increase.

Normal speed = 100%
Epic mount speed = +100%

this alone is 200%

Spurs +7%
Carrot+3%
Riding skill enchant+5%

The enchant sells for 20G on Dragonblight server. Totally not worth it considering +7 agility enchant is better for gloves. Even Strength is better for gloves.

Don't let anyone con you into saying "buy a cheap pair of gloves and have them enchanted". I did that with boots, now I have the problem of having to swap boots every time I mount up, making it incredibly annoying, especially if you're trying to run in PvP, which makes it difficult to swap. Definetly not worth the 20G, definetly not worth the 50G for the plans, and definetly not worth replacing a better enchant.

i got it from a heavy mithril lockbox... one of my alts is a chanter but for fun not profit, so i decided to sell it. my auctioneer suggested 45g start with a 60g buyout... but i roll on a very heavily populated server, and figured there were some rich chanters that would just have to have it.... so i put it up for 80-99g and it sold to someone in the major raiding guild.

there is still a big use for this pattern imo, since there are plenty of blood elves and draenei alts being leveled, who can't quite use the riding crop yet. I just got the pattern for my enchanter alt for 50g on Cho'gall, kind of steep, but the level 2 rogue named Fangweihong didn't seem to understand my attempts to bargain. Gee wonder why.

I can't seem to sell this on Stormrage horde side...

I started at bid/buyout 40/50 twice, then 35/45 twice and now 25/32 didn't even sell.

Maybe it's not so rare on my server.

i got 1 of these on my druid in tanaris a while back.. didnt know it was worth so much until i was looking at this. i got it out of a chest at lost rigger cove. so if any allys on thrall need this, send snoris some mail..

Where does it drop from?

Dungeons:
It drops from 地下双帆龙 (the lizards) in Maraudon, about 1 chance in 1000.
It also drops from 暮光之锤拷问者, in BRD (1 chance in 2000).

Raid bosses:
All dragon raid/world bosses e.g. Onyxia and Emeriss (1% chance).

The value of this formula appears to vary on my server. A few hours ago it was selling for 175g. Currently it's at 125g, I can understand the high initial price, given the potential value of the enchant over time. It is certainly a more reliable purchase same a lot of leatherworking recipes ==

The riding speed boost is valuable for all classes, all levels - and while speed boosts are relatively small, they does stack with other boosts. This makes them highly sought after throughout the phases for PVP.

Given that this recipe is still fetching high prices in Retail about 10,000g last I checked the AH, I can only assume that 2% increase is still highly sought after

Easy summary for people playing Classic!

There are 4 tiers of speed enhancements. These tiers DO NOT STACK WITH EACH OTHER, so if you have a better tier, you cannot get any of the bonuses from any of the lower tiers.

Tier A: Paladin's 十字军光环 (+20% mounted speed), given at level 62 in TBC.
Tier B: Paladin's , Talent 3/3 (+15% mounted speed AND on-foot runspeed), requires 13 points in the Retribution talents. NOTE: Before TBC, in vanilla, it was only +8% speed and required 12 points.
Tier C1: Trinket 图样：马鞭 (+10%), created by leatherworkers. Despite what you may think, it DOESN'T stack with ANY other items/enchants (from the lower tiers).
Tier C2 ("Free" Alternative): Trinket 碎天者之鞭 (+10%, Quest Reward), gained by learning Epic Flying at level 70, becoming Honored with the Netherwing, and defeating all of their races in the sky and defeating the final quest, 壮志凌云：汤告鲁士·碎空 (something a lot of players give up on due to the difficulty of beating the racers).
Tier D: The "vanilla WoW solution": 棍子上的胡萝卜 (+3%, Quest Reward) and 公式：附魔手套 - 骑乘技能 (+2%) and 设计图：秘银马刺 (+4%) = Around 9%, but not exactly due to how multipliers stack, but it's less than 10%.
