You mean like the blood elves?
I'm sorry, I still think Sylvanas knew exactly what Putress was up to, and when it didn't go 100% as planned, she told Thrall and the rest of the Horde that it was all the RAS and Varimathras. Undercity looks like a Scourge camp - there are Abominations being made, plague cauldrons... Heigan or Noth would fit right in.She picked Varimathras because he's a dreadlord, and therefore all but immortal, and Putress because, well, he's expendable. Also, he was clearly in charge of the wrathgate attack, and it clearly didn't go totally as planned, so she probably wants to make it clear for anyone else, screwing up is a death sentance. As for Varian, you can say what you like about him, he still TRIES. After the Wrath Gate event, he lets Jaina go and talk to Thrall first. The decision to invade Undercity was a decision to try and reclaim land that once belonged to the Alliance, as well as an attempt to take down Putress for what he had done. The problem is, when he got there, he saw things that you would expect to see in a scourge camp. Prisoners being used as parts in abominations. Cauldrons bubbling with the Forsaken's "New Plague" - the same plague that killed Bolvar. It's not hidden away, even. The Horde denys responsability for the events that happened, but when you get a look at Undercity, you realize, they can deny it all they like, but the evidence says otherwise. The Forsaken are exactly the same as the Scourge, and Thrall willingly sides with them. Varian tried to meet the Horde half way, but they still protected the Forsaken. After what he saw upon entering Undercity, can you really blame him?Varian's backstory is a Thrall rip-off, yes. Yet to a degree, that was needed to show who Varian is. Thrall and Varian dealt with similar things in their lives, but came out as vastly different people because of it. That's a pretty deep message, even if it is a little hack.
Yea, I never really understood the whole "Foresaken are different from scourge" thing.Undead under an undead's control versus undead under an undead's control.
I actually like Varian... He is living proof that the Horde aren't the "Bad Guys" and the Alliance "The Good Guys". I'm not particularly biased towards the Horde (I play both factions), however as far as Stormwind goes Bolvar for evar <3I have a particular distaste for Varian because after working my butt off to kill him, the achievement bugged out and I didn't get my "For the Horde!" >.< On the morning of 3.1.1 (last Tuesday) it corrected itself, but I was still %^&*ed.PS: Best Faction Leader Ever... King Kael'thas Sunstrider. May the bastards who murdered you (TWICE) burn in hell. I still have hope that he will reappear somewhere in the future, and lead his people to victory...
I hate Varian for his xenophobic attitude. I've never thought much about his back story before. Then again, I'm not a huge Warcraft lore nerd. Well, that's not true. I usually try to devour as much back story as possible. However, for some reason I've not attempted to learn more about Varian. I think it is just because I hate him so much. He's just so frustrating. We're trying hard to defeat these ages old evil and he can't get past his hatred of the orcs for even a minute. Facing off against the Lich King and his minions and the two factions continue to fight for the same dwindling resources in AB or EotS? Just one of the things that doesn't make sense about the storyline. Then again, maybe that's why it's called Warcraft. When we're not warring the big bad, we have to war each other.
It was a bit slap dash with the lore, but i thought the whole split thing and the links to Onyxia was quite interesting. But as said above Blizz can't get it perfect every time. The lore was ok i guess but i think they could have put a little more thought into it.
Fail wall of text is fail.
Well, I didn´t really played when Bolvar was the king of Stormwind, but I absolutely agrees on that Wrynn is too aggresive, ignorant and careless. Just take the quest Battle for Undercity and how he is just all the suddens charging Thrall. Btw, he would probably have gotten his ass kicked if it wasn´t for that lady who freezes them down because of BOTH Thrall and Sylvanas was in that throne room of Undercity. His storý can´t make more to me than getting me confused either, a king who been kidnapped, just returning out of nowhere? That´s one to work at for Blizz. Actually, he seems to care more to killing a single orc (don´t kill horde, guys, we rock!) than for the entire population of Stormwind. I must add to this too that I sure did enjoyed killing Wrynn the most out of all alliance leaders while doing For the Horde. But why in the world of Azeroth would Thrall retire? Just take a quick look at him and you will find a peaceful orc leader who absolutely can lead the greens of the horde for many more years. And I never really understood, is Garrosh Hellscream from the Shadowmoon Clan or from Borean Tundra?____________________________Belf dk lvl76 at Talnivarr
