It's nice to give out gold, but it's kind of hard if people notice that you're giving gold away an you get stock with pests than people who actually need it for an item/mount/training/etc.imo
/tear. More people need to be generous in WoW!
I remember back when I played my very first toon. It was a gnome mage (it's deleted now) and when I reached level 40 I had a friend buy it for me. Those were the days.
I remember the first time that happened to me.I had hit 40, and my friend bought my first mount, and traded it to me :)Those were the days...I now want to go stand near the Tree in the middle of Stormwind, and hand out gold to lowbies :D
Night Elf Warrior in Stormwind giving out gold to lowbies, got it!
I don't normally give out gold to people, but I did break down the other day when a newbie hit me with "please good sir, could you spare a few gold to help me get started?"
Back at 60, a guildie of mine was totally broke. He didn't have even a silver coin. Then, all of a sudden, he ran into a fellow troll that gave him hundreds of gold and then logged off.My guildie, being completely extatic, bought his mounts, and bragged, spending almost all the gold.An hour afterwards, the unknown troll logged back on and asked for the gold.Apparently, his girlfriend had logged onto the character and given away the gold. <.<But I don't give away money. I don't have the patience to farm gold, and what little i have, is spent on enchants, raidfoods and raidflasks. And repairs too, now that Ulduar is here.
Got a question from a fellow shaman here the other day, he had just bought the game and wanted to ask some talent and gear questions for leveling up. Ended up talking for like 30 mins, told him what he needed to know and i tossed in 30g just because he was a nice guy. That is what usually happens when people approach me with questions like that. Ofc i told him NEVER to beg for money or runs in general, seeing as it just gets you a bad rep.-Tuffgit
When I hit level 29 on my rogue, All Hallows Eve had rolled around, and a RL friend said that I should sell the wand charges to people for the achievment. So here I am, a lowly little level 29 trying to get 100g for the training and mount. One of my customers was a 70 something, though I believe it was a pally. I told him I was raising money for a mount, then out of nowhere, he hands me a bunch of herbs. He told me to sell them for the mount money.I did.I forget what the herbs were, but they gave me around 150g, more than enough. If anyone here played a level 70 on Perenolde during last years Halloween and gave a nub 29 rogue herbs, thank you.
The only memories I have regarding the casual discussion of money all involve people berating me for not having more at the level caps. It comes up that I'm saving for epic flight, and then there's a half hour diatribe about grinding dailies and how easy money is to get and all that. That's all well and good if you've got time for it (and feel like spending actual money to do the same dailies over and over for gold) but it's neither my taste nor does it fit my playtimes. This may seem a bit disjointed from the recollections of how people helped you out when you were new, but I find the fact that people are more likely to sympathize with low level characters they'll never see again then with the tank they run with at least once a week a bit perplexing.
