I am simply amazed at the amount of people that believe that it's their business how other people spend their money. :\Proceeds go to charity, there's an incentive prize to be had, what's the deal? And before you say "you should donate without receiving something in return", take your own advice, and donate to a charity.
Fact 1:Video Game addiction =/= buying video game memorabilia. Video game addiction equates to playing the game so much that it hampers normal life's events. The nature of the addiction would be that the addict wouldn't risk spending any more money on something that doesn't allow them to play the game longer.Fact 2:With a player base of over whatever million, statistically speaking it is bound to be that some of the player base would be more financially successful than others. $1,000 may be a lot to you and me; but to the person in the 35% tax bracket; $1000 dollars may not seem like much.Basically, don't envy other people that can afford thousands of dollars on entertainment, they'll only laugh at you.
Well the current bid is at $3,300.All these arguments about if they are addicts if they bid or not, it's none of our business :)See it as a novelty item? (the basket)Grats to the person that goes home with it, atleast he/she will sleep well, knowing they helped others =P
Im sure people who can dish out 3300 for a gift basket (which if it was still around 1000 I wouldve so bidded on it) arent some basement dweller that qwerty likes to think to make himself feel better. Heaven forbid someone has a hobby thats based heavily around video games or WoW, im sure their life is such a wreck amirite? A actual video game addict cuts off everyone and everything, like not talking to family and just straight up quitting their jobs, yeah im sure people who are bidding on this are exactly how you picture them right qwerty? youre such a tool its not even funny, youre obviously just bitter that lately people have been able to show they have extra money that simply means nothing to them because the amount of time of gaining it back is minimal and they just wont worry about it, but keep on trying to state your opinion as facts, im sure theres another moron around that believes you.
Current Bid is 6.7kif I had the money and a job I'd bid 10k no doubt. It's all realllly worth it <3 =)
Whoever this Dgen is, they are really determined.
None taken and yes I did go to school here in the US and I earned both a High School diploma and a College degree I never been one to argue on forums and will also admit that im just sticking up for those that say they can freely spend their money on anything regardless if it really is pointless/useless or not. I will admit I rushed my last post because the wife was nagging at me to get up and get ready for dinner at a friends house I was even unhappy with it because I knew I didnt type what I wanted to say and actually meant to discard it. And I will admit I have grown tired of even reading the 3 threads that involve either the mount or now this basket why? because nobody, myself included are making valid points, its just arguing back and forth about 1 persons view on what is dumb and another persons view on it now being dumb. But I still think qwerty is out of line doing nothing but posting in these same threads looking for a argumentEDIT: Im making a final post on this entire subject, lets just agree to disagree because ones views are not going to be changed by the other person who does not agree with them. This is all turning into bashing by mostly Wowhead regulars, myself included and I enjoy coming to these forums and would rather not see stuff like this being the subject of the day all the time. I think until you can buy a actual weapon or piece armor in the blizz store then you really dont have much to argue about, this is nitpicking.
Sigh...all I'm trying to say is that people who have enough money lying around to buy virtual items in WoW without it affecting them financially could be doing so much more with their money, and people who don't have a steady income should be putting their money towards other things. Why is this concept so hard to grasp?
