This enchant is a bit overrated. It does not cost all that much, depending on the server, but about 1-2g. Yet, you can get a fire resistance enchant for a lot cheaper, less mats, and +2 more fire resist.

All of the other resistances, besides possibly nature, really aren't needed until you really get high end into the game and instances.

although it might be useful in pvp, where many classes use many different types of spells, this enchant becomes useless as you thinka bout pve. the real enchant you need is either the +7fr or the higher, more expensive version. these enchants should last until u face the nature resist challenges in aq.

Although still a noobie, I find this enchant to be very useful in pvp against many low level casters. 5 points may not seem much, but paired with other resistance gear such as dragonscale items (i.e. https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=8367) and one of these maces:

Blanchard's Stout (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=13046)
or
Thornstone Sledgehammer (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=1722)

There will be a difference, trust me... Even better when you are a shaman who possess resistance totems (equals to +45 increase if you are at level 49). Whether you want to fight those dragons in Sunken or just protect yourself against poison and frostbolts... you will be well equipped to do so.

Noob here be patient with me,

I don't understand the 5 plus resistance - does that mean if I am struck by any of the nature, fire, shadow, etc. spells that they take off 5 damage that would normally hit me for? Or does that mean 5 percent less damage, or does it mean 5 percent chance the spell will fail to do any damage?

I do not understand how the resistance mechanism works.

This is the best enchant for cloaks imo, except the uber +15 res ones and the nexus crystal enchants.

I have this recipe and the mats on ah are pretty cheap i can get them for around 10g just wondering what other people getting for this.

to figure out where things drop look under the heading tought by. It will show the scroll that teaches it. Click on it and it shows where the item drops, who drops it, and the drop %. (sry its just so many people ask where things drop on thies chat fourms and it gets quite anoying)!ty! (ps. w00t alliance)

Why in the world would anyone bother with this?

The +3 to all resistances cloak enchant is a fantastically cheap (a single lesser nether essence) -- why bother with all the generally rare mats for just another +2 to resistance?

I personally had all of the mats, minus the Breath of Wind already. All I had to do was grab that for 40 silver and voila.

I wouldnt even say this was close to expensive... It costs like 5-6g if you buy all the mats. Most expensive would be the Core of Earth for ~1g

I know a lot of you have said that this is a pretty cheap enchant but on my server (Khaz Modan), +3 is a way more viable option. For the person who said that Breath of Wind goes for 40s on their server, I am truely envious! It goes for no less than 4g each on my server. At least with the +3 I have the mats already gathered from my disenchant bot alt.

But yes, this enchant is awesome and if combined with the revered AD +5 to all resistances, Blazing emblem trinket for +15 fire res, and a couple of +15 res rings, chromatic sword (+5 to all res), thorium plate armor (every piece has between 6 and 15 to all res) then wow, that's what I call serious resistance!

Do anyone know the price of this enchantment?
It would do nicely with the shoulder-enchant form AD.

That would make 10 resistance to all schools of magic + any other resistance u might have on other equipment!

Just playing around:) You do know +10 is totally worthless right? To anyone anytime?

Resistance gear is something you either use, or don't. If you're in a situation where you need it (Huhu for example) you're using ALL of it... like 200+, 250 and up for tanks.

If I remember right, resistance goes up by 5 every level; raid bosses are calculated as level 63 in these cases, meaning a cap of 315 max.

I have heard (and forgotten) compelling arguments for having as much as 350, but w/e.

From what I have read +5 resistance in its self is completely worthless. See the above mentioned Blizzard chart which states resistance chances start at +50. If this is added to other items to form +50, +100, +150 or more then I can see its use but by its self it is costing you whatever enchant you could have on your cloak. Sometimes I wonder what idiot at Blizzard thinks up the items and enchants because they don't always make much sense when you really calculate them out. Maybe I am wrong but I can see it in this case.

+100 armor at lvl 19 would increase you physical resistance by 2.5% to 3.0% (depending on how much armor you already have, mail wearers would get closer to 2.5% while cloth wearers would get about 3%)
VS
+5 resistance at lvl 19 would increase you magic resistance by about 3.9%

If you have resistance equal to the number of your lvl you will have 15% resistances to that school of magic. EX: a lvl 19 warlock with 19 shadow resistance will have a 15% chance to fully resist damage over time spells like "curse of agony" "corruption" and a few others i cant think of right now. then there is direct damage spells like shadow bolt from which you will also receive an average of 15%. I say average because you have a chance of resisting 100%(very slim chance)75%,50% 25% and 0% but on AVERAGE its 15% less damage you will take, thats all that really madders.

Also if you are an arcane mage twink with talents into "magic absorption" this could really help and i would recommend making your shadow resistance as high as possible since it has the most damage over time spells and can be FULLY resisted the easiest, which "magic absorption" needs to take effect the most.

yea i think this is a somewhat usfull enchant it dosn't make you immune to anything but hey 5% chance to resist is alot better than the min of 1% and it's bloody cheap and if you're a leather or cloth wearer you don't really go for the defense that your items give you anyway so like someone said above you always take dmg from ranged aka mage or hunter type mobs. And w00t Alliance
