In a recent interview with
GameStar
, Diablo 4 Associate Game Director,
Joseph Piepiora
revealed that Blizzard will be introducing Level Requirement caps for Sacred and Ancestral gear during Season of the Malignant. Going forward, Sacred items will have a maximum level requirement of level 60 and Ancestral items will have a maximum level requirement of level 80.

Many Diablo 4 players have experienced the pain of finding a great item for an alt, only to be restricted by the level requirement on the item. This is because, currently, almost every item that drops for your character will have a level requirement equal to your character's level. Fortunately, this adjustment in Season of the Malignant will make much it easier to share loot between characters since the level requirements on gear will be less restrictive.
