This quest can be very difficult. if you can heal, then you can just keep your self and the guy alive while he does all the damage. it helps if you clear out some of the mobs before hand. Be warned that if you die, the graveyard you are sent ot is very far away.

Finished this quest as lvl 19 Hunter. used pots, bandages and allot of mend pet. pet died twice.

i just let pet agro most of mobs. and used traps and ranged attacks. it was more luck then skill. Really hard

If you are grinding Darnassus Rep, do this quest instead of the other one. It gives you way more Rep.

"soloed" with lvl 20 druid... but first cleared the area with alt.... there still spawned some addon mobs from nowhere.... It was still a close call... :-S

EDIT: I didn't see Sentinel Selarin anywhere near road... as I headed south.

I found it was very very east to clear the surrounding camp, just outside the cave, you can leave the one on the left with the 4 mobs. Usually 2 guys will spawn and run at you, one shaman, one ursa. I killed the shaman first since they cast and heal. Do what you must to interrupt the heal then move to ursa, Rinse and repeat to next group. Easy stuff!

the fulbogs kill volcor during the quest so i quit the quest... does he return to the cave after death? can i take the quest later?

very easy solo as a frost mage, level 18. Had two pieces of heirloom armor. Just don't be afraid of using polymorph on one of the adds if you pull more then one and it's a piece of cake.

Did it as a lvl 21 hunter. A pair of fulborgs spawn three times. I needed a pot by the third wave, but I made it ok.

attempted to solo as a 18 mage impossible even with the camps fully cleared they send double shaman spawns at you at the same time which heal and do a ton of range damage you are better off doing escape through stealth the gy spawn if you die is just north of auberdine ill admit i haven't trained my spells since 12 and had no pots maybe someone who thinks they are hot %^&* or are a higher level can try

I've done this a number of times, first back in the old days and recently. I'd never tried Escape Through Force and now I see why not.

My 21 Pally killed everything (including bears, squirrels and crows) on the way in from the north, hugging the hill, zipped into the cave, grabbed Volcor and headed back north. The nitwit didn't follow me but did a Leroy Jenkins right through the middle of the camp. I ran over and started killing things, but reinforcements showed up. Other reinforcements showed up. The Cleveland Philharmonic showed up, followed by the entire population of Kenosha, WI, all armed to the teeth. They didn't just kill Volcor, they ground him up into dogfood, poured it into a puddle and went off looking for relatives of his to kill. There were so many mobs there, they had to close the Auberdine - Astranaar Road.

Fortunately I had parked my classic M4 Sherman just north of the camp and managed to escape with only minor wounds. I tried running over some of the remaining mobs but the M4 is pretty slow and they just jumped out of the way and threw empty beer bottles at the tank. I made it back to Auberdine where Terenthis completely ignored me. What a schmuck but he's probably so busy messing with his bear, he doesn't have time to do his job.

Moral of the story: Escape Through Stealth.

When Volcor and Grimclaw reunite, they have this dialogue:

Volcor says: We made it, my friend. Remember to find Terenthis and let him now we’re safe. Thank you again.
Grimclaw roars in excitement as he rushes Volcor. When he reaches his master, Grimclaw licks his face.
Volcor says: I’m happy to see you too, Grim! It looks like not all strangers are to be feared after all, huh, Grim? Terenthis shall reward this adventurer well.

I almost solod this on my level 17 Druid with a little bit of kiting on one of the packs just outside the cave. Make sure you let the escort pull because he will ignore anything you pull unless they somehow hit him, and he'll continue walking on pulling everything. I died right at the end of the escort (where Grimclaw is) because I let my guard down and got attacked by a high level shaman furbolg and a regular bear that stunned me when I tried to heal... gotta do it all again.

BTW there's an unreasonably strong rare that can spawn in the camp called Carnivous the Breaker but you don't have to interact with him at all during the escort. I would advise avoiding him unless you're grouped because his melee attacks can do half of your health.
