After you enter BRD, walk forward into the main room, then look to your right. You'll see three pathways. The outer two loop around to each other in a big ring. Gor'Shak is in a cell on the left side.

To open his cell, you'll need the key from High Interrogator Gerstahn. She is located in a room that connects to the very back part of the prison cell ring.

Complete the quest "Disharmony of Flame" by killing Overmaster Pyron first or this quest will not be offered by Galamav.

I got 11000xp and 500 Org rep for this quest as a level 48 druid. No RAF bonus, just rested XP. Thought that was odd. 49 twinks beware!

I don't get it, I did the pre-requisite quest "disharmony of flame" but still can't get this quest, anyone may know why?

I raised a ticket for being unable to obtain this quest:

"I'm unable to obtain the quest "Commander Gor'shak" - I've completed the Disharmony of Fire/Disharmony of Flame which according to reports online are pre-requisites. Is the quest still available? Thanks"

Response:

"We have moved you onto the next step in your quest chain as there appears to be an issue with it. You should now have the quest What Is Going On? in your logs......"

They actually gave me the 2nd "What is Going On?" and it was marked as complete so I can go straight to Thrall to turn it in.

It should be noted, while this quest may be available at level 48, if you have not yet completed the quest "Disharmony of Flame" this quest will not be available to you.

Edit: I guess I should have looked at the previous comments a little more, but yes... given this keeps getting brough up I guess the quest info should make mention of the above fact.

Are there any prereqs for this quest? I can get the BRS quest from the Marksman, but not this quest. Any ideas? Or is it one of those race-limited things? I'm undead BTW

The Horde quest for killing Overmaster Pyron is called "Disharmony of Fire". The Alliance quest is called "Overmaster Pyron".

As soon as you enter the instance, go forward into the next room (if you don't have the key, this is the only place you can go). About a third of the way around the room to the right is 2 tunnels with another area between them of worked stone. Go down that hallway, and kill the inquisitor at the end for the key. Continue forward out of that room, then turn left. He's in the first door you can open on your left.
Make sure you have a good group, though, because he then gives you a quest to defend him https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=13178/slay-them-all which spawns 6-8 elites. Have fun dieing!

I had this quest, attempted it, failed, then abandoned the quest. Now I cannot get it again? Is there any way to get the quest again? I understand it is a prereq for rescuing the princess, which is something I really want to do.

I ran this place twice and I can't find the key,I followed the direction of what that guy wrote and their's no guy by that name. I guess it was a typo, but their was an interragator, killed that person and no key, is this quest bugged...

I tried soloing it as a mage (http://ctprofiles.net/4118074), but no go. She is immune to snares, roots, and polymorph, and if you try to take out her adds, die and then fight her alone, the adds will simply respawn so anything other than focusing fire on her will be a waste of your time.

Got her down to less than a Fireblast's worth of HP, but after several tries, I realized I can't take her alone with my current gear.

use the key to unlock the two doors with bars, but instead of going thru the solid door head straight into the open area as described above.

The Shadowforge key does NOT unlock the cell door.

Can anyone provide a picture of the map (showing what tunnel to go down) ...honestly these descriptions won't help people much.

The description of where to go to find him up above is fine...

And you'll need to get a drop which is a PRISON KEY not the SHADOWFORGE KEY....

Per the description above you dont go into the area which the shadowforge key unlocks... when you enter the intance you go into the large room past where you see the bars and gate on your left... this is the large room with patroling dogs and such.

Per the above description, bear right and enter the tunnul... when you enter it will say something like prison block... bla bla bla. your quest says look in a prison, so there you are... kill till you get the PRISON KEY which can open the commander's cell which will be on your left side if you entered the first tunnel.

And when he says he needs you to protect him... damn skippy and I died pretty damn quick.

If you meant where is gorshak, see the detention block in the southernmost part of dungeon. Go in the east corridor (or left) which contains a small cell in the middle where gorshak is.

This quest did not open for me until I had finished the first "Wanted:Dark Iron Dwarves" quest, I also had done the overmaster pyron quest but it did not open this quest. Possibly both are pre-reqs.

For those sorting by new, you need to complete the Disharmony of Flame quest first. It has you kill the fire elite thats right outside of BRD. This quest is being used for some insane power leveling at the moment.

Find Commander Gor'shak in Blackrock Depths.

You recall that the crudely drawn picture of the orc included bars drawn over the portrait. Perhaps you should search for a prison of some sort.

Poor Gargal... didn't even see it coming. WHAM! The arrow landed dead center on the top of his head. He was no genius before but now...

<Galamav grimaces.>

When we dislodged the arrow, we noticed a rolled up note attached to the shaft. On the note was a crudely drawn picture of an orc behind bars with the signature of Commander Gor'shak attached.

If he's still alive in the Depths, you'll have to find him.

A trap you say? Well no kidding, numb hooves! That's why you're going!
