Very fast respawn rates. Be careful pulling, if you die you have to run all the way back from Crossroads and the entire cave will respawn by the time you get back. Which makes it very hard to find anywhere to rez in the cave. I died twice doing this quest and had to clear the entire cave 3 times because of the respawn rates.

If you must die, die with purpose: try running (and dying) right near Copperplug).

Then respawn and jump immed onto the barrel behind him. This will make you unreachable to them (and v.v, they will evade).

Powerup, then jump down, making your next life's aim: to KILL HIM and TAKE THE DROPs (Manual etc.)

At least when you die, you can just harvest the pages from the mobs outside the mine instead.

Any high armor class, like Druids in bear form, or Warriors, can try to run through the cave when they realize they can't handle the pulls, and as the above person suggested, park their corpse as close as possible to the last guy.

Personally, as a level 18 druid, I managed ok here, never died, although I did get very close once. I suggest taking every pull seriously and assuming it will become a 3 pull later on - as a Druid, cast both of your HoT's (Regrowth/Rejuv) before every pull, so you will have enough life if Bad Things Happen and you pull more through runners/respawns.

I did it as a 20 druid, was pretty easy, only got chased out of teh cave once, just watch for patrols and take no more than 2 at a time, use car form and fairie

ive been trying to find this guy for around 2 hours and have died about 6 time.
I have the manual pages i just can find him!!!
if someone could leave a screen shot of there mini map after killing him that would be great

After you get the quest, you can just go out of Ogrimmar and cut across the river and you'll end up right near the Boulder Lode. When you turn it in, you can cut back the same way.

After reading these comments I felt like I was preparing to solo Molten Core. However it was really pretty easy as a lvl 19 warrior.

- Be patient
- Pull with ranged weapon (even if you're a rogue imo)
- Hamstring (or equivalent if you have it to slow runners)
- Look for patrols before each pull
- They run on <20% hp. Save a little dps burst for then
- Be careful you don't miss any when you get to Copperplug. Tab for closest target or you'll end up with a big pull.

Had no problems at all doing this.

A good advise !

When you are in front of Boss Copperlug, and there's only 1 more mob before him, you can pull that mob without any problems BUT watch out when he will run away in fear ( <20%) dont go after him or pull the mob really really back because it will aggro 2 more mobs from your right

I can find the pages ok but i went up in a tower that has a chest in it (61,3) but I can't find the boss that drops the manual. am I in the right spot or is it in a cave

I just did this quest as a Restoration INT/SPI tauren druid level 19. Killed them one by one, carefully calculating the range and looking around the corner of the tunnels. 2 times I had to fight two, managed to survive and then reached the boss room. Was able to lure everyone to me one by one put aside the boss and the two hiding in the small tunnel to the right (You can ignore those). Moved on the left side and Wrath him 3 times before he was able to walk around the small step, then fought him with some Rejuvenation on. Quite easy actually.

only thing that really sucks about this last quest is the walk from the graveyard. its about 15 minutes and by the time you return respawns have already claimed your corpse as their personal %^&*!.

I'm a lvl 18 UD priest, and with a power word shield up i can take one on without losing any life or mana (just a curse then my wand) and they're dead before the shield is gone. If I did agro 2, i could still kill them both easily (never dropped below 1/2 life). Just be careful about pulls, i almost died when i pulled 3, but my psychic scream saved me.

simple for a 18 hunter... profession engineering... I have pet aggro everything and toss in a stick of dynamite and an exploding sheep, drops the whole room.
That's how I pretty much do everything in the game thoug... so overpowered lol, I love watching xp spam my screen... I have more fun with this then my 60 rogue.

I soloed this at level 21 on my druid. I stealthed into the cave the first time and could not find the boss. 10 minutes later I got the cat's eye gem for another quest (random drop), and all 5 pages of the manual so I stealthed back in to see if I could find him.

In the cave, there is a room that is larger than the other small open areas. In this room is a tent - the boss should be standing under the tent. If he's not there, stay stealthed and in a corner for 10 minutes and he should respawn. Watch for pats.

If you are stealthed and going in, make sure to stay AWAY from the fires! if you burn, they see you and 2-3 could aggro onto you at once. Err on the side of walking too close to one rather than walking too close to the fire.

My advice is... don't die!
The corpse run is all the way from the crossroads so you stand little chance of escape from re-spawned mobs in the tunnel, take lots of healing pots.

Don't die.. Im 20 warlock, and got 4 mobs on my and died..

1. Very long way to run from your corpse (from crossroads..)

2. When you spawn again, you'll die .. There's like 4 mobs who will attack you where ever you spawn again.. :S

I just solo'd this quest as a 20 hunter, the method I used was a combination of not sucking and common sense. Also, people are vastly exaggerating the respawn rate, I was disconnected in the middle of a run, had time to leave the game, wait a minute, log back in, and still only the first two mobs I'd killed had respawned. Just send in your pet, Hunter's Mark, Arcane Shot and Concussive Shot, maybe one melee attack and they're gone.

The mine is far up in the NE corner of the Barrens and is clearly on the Map. The fastest way to here is to take the back exit from Orgrimmer. Running from Org only takes about 3 minutes. So South after you cross the bridge out of Org. You should see the mine on your map. Bear right around the mountain and you will come across the road. Follow the road up the hill. The mine is at the top.

You need to collect 5 missing pages from the manual first. You do this by killing mob around the mine.

Once you have the missing 5 pages, proceed to the mine, which is to the left of the tower. Copperplug is deep in the mine. Just keep going till you find him. I soloed this as a lvl 24 Rogue. If you are careful, you should be able to solo it level 22-24 without a problem. Level 20, you might want some help.

Once you have recovered the Manual, open your bags and right-click on the missing 5 pages, which will reconstruct the full manual. Now you can Hearth out and turn in the quest. If you plan on fighting your way out, be aware that most of the mob will have respawned. It is almost faster to just Hearth out and wait for your 1 hour cooldown than to try and fight your way out of this place.

Stoneclaw totem is your friend. Pull carefully, but throw down a Stoneclaw when you get an add. Let the add attack that while you whale on the first mob. You can often heal before they kill it. And bring lots of milk and melon juice - it's a long way in there and you'll need to heal a lot. I nearly died a couple times, but always managed to get one last earth shock FTW.

I just finished this quest with my 19 orc rogue, i cleaned everything till the boss's room then i just stealthed and saped the Boss and killed the guy that was with him then killed the boss, used stealth e got out of there, pretty easy :p

Little tip for this quest, First their are plenty of quests in progress in sludge fen, by that I mean people questing their always & the rogues poison quest is also on a hill in sludge fen. I suggest seeking a player to co-op or more, guaranteed to find help within 2min. and plenty of decent lvl.15-17 items in the cave along with the only area I've ever seen "flasks of oil" which sell well to engineers.

As a level 23 rogue, don't ask me why I was doing this so late, it is incredibly easy. Just wait a couple of levels and then beat the quest. You should also start the Miners Fortune quest. I personally was able to find some people to help along with this quest, not because I couldn't do it but because I didn't want to waste my time killing 30 easy creeps.

Not a hard quest but the overseer's and enforcer's on the way down are a little annoying. Just too darned many of them and then they respawn by the time you are ready to go back out. Sigh....

As a lvl 21 undead Rogue, this quest was very easy. I stealthed all the way to the boss and killed him. When you aggro him, an add will aggro with him but he should be no problem, a pat does come into the room so watch out. After killing the boss and his add, I stealthed all the way out without a problem. The mobs will "hear" you alot but they won't attack if you are far enough away.

Tip: Do not die on this quest! The walk from the graveyard to the mine is so long that by the time you get back, everything in the mine will have respawned. I died and couldn't res, and it was really frustrating...especially since the boss is so deep inside. Level 18 Mage.

i must have tried this quest at least 20 times, trying to kill the enforcers and overseers in the cave one by one (i'm an undead rogue) to try and get to the end to kill Copperplug.

I made it to the end of the tunnels once, the first time i tried, and no boss was to be found.

I had picked up the cover of the manual and some manual pages though. so i kept going back trying to find the boss.

it took me a long while to realize i didn't need to go back and fight the boss. if you have the manual cover and 5 manual pages you make your own manual. just right click on the manual pages and voila! there you go. thought this might be helpful for those who have the same problem i did.

I found this really easy to solo as a 19 Warlock using Voidwalker. Just take your time and don't rush through and you'll be fine.

From the outside the cave looks like a house with a big doorway outlined in red. The boss drops the cover of the manual...the other mobs drop pages. Once you have 5 pages and the cover click on it and it turns into the manual. Once your in the cave take the first left and the boss...Copperplug...is at the end under a tent.

I want to reaffirm what a previous poster said about not having to kill the boss...ran thru the mine twice as lvl 20 shaman, killed boss copperplug twice, and no manual! was very frustrated and ready to ticket a GM until i read teh part about makgn your own manual from the pages and cover...click and whamo! done. Just make sure your not a noob like myself and look for a full manual, all you need is the 5 pages and the cover

This quest sucks. I was a lvl 22 druid and, due to a glitch in the game, was mobbed by invisible opponents... running 5 minutes back only to rez in a spot surrounded by min 3 mobs. Freaking brilliant.

Lol.. went in as 22 druid. Prowl in cat form (aka stealth) killed 3 mobs at the beginning got 3 pages..

then stealthed my way to the end.. killed the guy. then killed a few more and got 2 pages. hellaeasy for rogues and druids. i feel bad about the rest ^^

Easy my ass. If you are having trouble, do not worry this is not an easy quest. I have 3 70's and yes i know how to play. Sure if you get your level up high enough i spose its easy. Bring a friend with you and it will make it much more managable. Getting multiple mobs is what will ruin your day here, so be careful about that and pull sensibly. I get a kick out of people saying how easy it is. There are lots of truely easy quests and this is not one of them so dont' feel bad if you end up dead several times.

Alrighty -- as a lvl 20 shadow priest it took me about 15-20 mins to clear the cave (no deaths). Move fairly quickly and be sure to watch for pats. The boss Copperplug is in the large chamber, so take that first left instead of continuing straight. (There were just extra mobs over there and no chest (for me at least).) Before you pull Copperplug, clear the two mobs down in the ditch to your right. That will leave you with just Copperplug and one other to deal with.

Be perpared to hearth out afterwards. Otherwise, you will have to fight your way back out. Bleck.

This is a great quest to pair with Miner's Fortune for the Cat's Eye Emerald.

Play smart and you will do fine. Good luck!

It's not worth it. Every time you die you have to ghostwalk 1/2 of the map. The the cave is so full w/ mobs... it should be instance. Almost impossible to do it alone.

I did this quest when i got to level 20. I am a troll hunter... it was pretty easy to do for a hunter. I would just pull the mobs to me one by one in that cave and kill them. I used immolation traps to soften the mobs.

I can see it being a bit harder for non-ranged characters though...

btw...i did get a choice between those two items. So the quest is accurate on the site here.

Easily solo-able as a level 20 hunter with a decent pet (lvl 20 fast attack Scorpid). Get the pet to pull and tank one-two mobs at a time and pick them off from a safe distance, obviously make sure your pet knows Growl 2 or 3 and has Cower switched off, but can't be many lvl 20 Hunters who haven't bothered training this life-saver.

Really annoying though when you take out the boss, turn around and realise you're gonna have to tediously fight your way back through all those mobs again.

I don't know if I just had good luck, but it was really easy for me. As a 21 Druid, I pulled the mobs in bear form with faerie fire and then solo'd them one by one. I got all of the pages before I got to Boss Copperplug, then I killed him, got the manual, and finished the quest.

I just died twice trying to do this solo as a lvl 18 mage. Hard because there is a time in the tunnel when it´s inevitable to pull two of the little bastards and as an 18, there´s just not enough health to keep up.

I will wait until I´m a 19 or 20 to accomplish this.

I did not get the choice between these two items... it was a choice between a mace and a shield, neither of which I can use. I made sure to use WOW Update after logging, so hopefully the quest will be fixed on this site.

If you are in a hurry for a quest like this I find its easiest to just kamikaze into the mine, die at the end, walk back as a ghost and rez in a safe spot near the boss. Beat the boss, then run out. Worst case you die twice, have to spend a few extra minutes on autorun.

I spent a considerable amount of time looking around the polluted lake with the derrck for a mine. It's not there - you have to go east to the river, then run north a bit along the road, then follow the uphill road west for a short while.

For gods sake, this has to be like the most annoying quest I've ever done. Mobs are like 2-3y's away from each other, so you basically always chain pull, and to top it off you have friggin patrols roaming the place so that you can get them and perhaps 2-3 more of those damned Venture Co. morons as adds. And they respawn in about 30 seconds O.o

I died like 5 or 6 times, man that ghost-run is just mean..

What a pain in the butt this one was. It's all down to timing when you hunt the boss in the mine. The directions are simple the killing is another issue. I solo'd this one and I was a bit nervous, I don't know why but I was. I gues I don't like to die but it's no big deal in this game. Even so, I just don't like to die. Anyhow, to kill this boss I slowly made my way deeper and deeper into the mine. If you have Immolation Trap, use it on every kill, it helps. Be sure to pull one mob at a time. I made the mistake of pulling one and got 5. My bear got smoked, I got stunned then died. Had to make my way back in the mine slowly again but with more planning a caution. When I found the boss he was at the left part of a cubby hole and not in the deepest recess' of the mine. I guess I got lucky that I didn't need to go any further than I needed to. Anyhow, I used the same method to kill him and he dropped what I needed to finish this quest. I didn't need to fight my way out, I 'stoned it out.

My result:

I still haven't finished this, at level 22 (shaman). Working my way up there right now to try to complete, but it really is a long walk, alive or dead. Kept dying the room right before Copperplug himself. And Stoneclaw totem is a BAD idea. It'll pull extra mobs to you, and dies more quickly than you can heal. Also, even though it is a pain, the xp from the mobs alone is decent enough, and the rep gain is always worth it, imo.

looks like i'll be camping the venture co. mobs again. i did enjoy killing the mobs. they were a bit stingy on the green items tho.

i only got 1 green item the whole time i was waiting for the cat's eye agate to drop. and i had to kill 30 or so mobs.

This was one of the hardest quests I'd ever done. I died like, 5 times. Yeah, DON'T kamizae your way through. When you get to the boss, there is NOWHERE to hide and just when you think your far enough from him not to be noticed, his guard kills you. I'd probably be able to do it now since I'm a lvl 23 but lvl 19 is def. not a good lvl to start with unless you do it with someone or you have good tactics. They do like to chain so watch out. I had a lvl 53 help me out so if you can, try and have someone help you out.

Rilli Greasygob is in the Valley of Honor. Reached through that gate about halfway down The Drag. Stay right at the Mining Trainers and its the next doorway on the right with the engineers. Or better yet: ask a guard for the Engineering profession trainer. Lead you right to him

As a lvl 20 priest I didn't to too badly. They respawn quicker than I can blink, but it was manageable. I got right to the end chamber and was preparing take on the boss, and some warrior swooped him from right under me. Didn't even bother to group. Grrr! I clear the damn cave, one very important guy left and it's tagged before I can get to it. It's just not right.

Yeah, I waited for respawn, but in the mean time I had to kill more of the peons.

If I could do this quest over ... well then I wouldn't.

If you have the track human ability, you can stand on the hill right above the mine and see where in the mine the boss is and how many mobs you have to kill to get to him.

The fastest way to get there is going through orgrimmers back entrence but watever u do dont die ull be sent to the graveyard at xroads which the most anoying walk ever ive died so many times on this quest that im thinking of giving up

This is one of those quests that makes you wish you could run into a blizzard quest designer in a dark alley. You just know that the quest designers are ROFL over this one. Save yourself the aggrovation and drop this quest, it's not worth the hassle.

I got a lot of lag during this quest and I disconnected twice after getting to the middle of the cave and walking back to my body in the cave once. The quest isn't hard I was just too pissed to start over.

Title says it all. They stand close enough and respawn fast enough that -- should you die -- you'll never find a place to resurrect inside the cave.
Get a group or some highlevel friends if you think you need the rewards.
I've decided that I don't.

For those playing hardcore, don't try this mission until you are 5-6 levels up. Unfortunately for the samoplhlage cover you have to kill a boss in the mine and the mine is really full of enemies. At level 21 I risked too much.

Description

I think I can fix the samophlange, but I'm going to need the user's manual first. When I was in the Venture Company I had a rival, Boss Copperplug, who hoarded the secrets of the samophlange, giving out small bits of knowledge on the device to those he trusted. I wasn't one of the trusted few...

Boss Copperplug used to stay at the Boulder Lode Mine in northeastern Barrens. Get the manual from him, and if he's given pages from it to anyone, you'll have to collect them too.
