There are the full rewards for this quest. They are fairly impressive, but you might need quite a bit of help for completing the quest in the first place. The Hauberk is especially impressive, but a Shining Silver Breastplate can be used if you'd rather not brave the dangers of collecting those items. =)

I didnt finish this quest til lvl 35...rather bad i know....but i couldnt get any help...But i hav the Fire Hardened Hauberk and use it.... not too bad

i think its also right to say that you have to do this to do the other quests you get from this guy. I'm lvl 34 warrior and can only get this one and not the others he starts.

Followups after getting the Fire Hardened Mail:

Human: Burning Blood for Fire Hardened Coif
Dwarf & Gnome: Iron Coral for Fire Hardened Gauntlets
Night Elf: Sunscorched Shells for Fire Hardened Leggings

The race tags on the above is just which NPC Furen will send you to after he gives you your armor. The other two NPC's will give you their quest if you locate them manually, so you can get an (almost) full set of Fire Hardened if you are willing to run to them and do their errands.

About Draenei, it seems they don't get a note from Furen to give to one of the other smiths. But the quests should get unlocked anyway. The Human smith is around the corner from Furen so it is a quick check for a curious Draenei.:)

dont be daunted by the 50 fangs. They have a 100% drop rate and most of the time you will get 2 fangs from one spider.

The Chimaera's are big and bulky and are easy to spot among the harpies. They're mainly in the back (south) of The Charred Vale. The one who drops the Glavanized Horn is also back there. Watch out though, all monsters are hostile in that area.

You can accept the beginning of this questline at level 20,but it strongly suggests to be done at level 30. Reason being is you'll travel to the corners of the world where most of the mobs needed for this quest are near level 30. This quest can be completed in any manner you desire. Needless to say there is no order to aqcuire any of these items. However I'll list the format I used along with some Tips that I'd reccomend considering.
: Before you embark on your Journey,switch your hearth to Stormwind temporarily. It'll make this quest much more easier

Step 1.)
Begin by flying to Thelsamar,assuming you have the Flight Path already. You will then want to travel down to Thelgen Rock which is relatively close near the network of tunnels leading down to The Wetlands. Once you see cluttering spiders engage in combat and begin looting Fangs.
: Activate Retaliation and pull about 2-3 spiders at a time. In theory you should gather more fangs this way :)

Step 2.)
Immediately after your done hearth back to Stormwind and go to the Harbor. Find the wharf that is decorated in Night Elf architecture and wait for the boat. This boat leads to Auberdine now,evidently taking this will bring you closer to Stonetalon Mountains. Once you've arrived in Auberdine fly to Astranaar,once again assuming you have this Flight Path already. If not a quick stroll to this town won't take long.
: On your way to Astranaar,stop by Grove of the Ancients and do the quest The Sleeper Has Awakened from Kerlonian Evershade. This is fast exp and it follows the road to Astranaar.

Step 3.)
Now pass by Astranaar and go southeast until you reach a tunnel called Talondeep Path. It's a very obvious landmark in the side of the mountain. Picture. You'll exit out of the path into Windshear Crag,Stonetalon Mountains. Avoid the mobs and run to the major road. Follow it until theres several forks at Mirkfallon Lake. Go to the road guarded by Rogue Flame Spirits. Keep going until you reach The Charred Vale. Your objective now is to kill Chimaeras in this area and take their Horns.
: The Chimaera Matriarch wanders the southern Hemisphere of the Vale or if you look on your map she dwells underneath the words "The Charred Vale". Watch out for Harpies too!

The Final Step
You now have every item besides the Vial of Phlogiston. This is the most difficult portion of the quest as it takes place in an Instance in Horde Territory. It really doesn't get any more agonizing than that. If you can,find a group for Roogug or for a full run. You could also whisp a friend to give you a quick run through. Ultimately this is pretty straight forward. Kill the Boss,loot the vial then undoubtedly your Hearth to Stormwind should be ready. If it isnt and you have a gathering profession you could run around increasing your skill more.
: If by coincidence,you have some quests for RFK it'd be best to do a full run of the Instance. A full run could also occupy time for your Hearth to reactivate. Above all watch out for Horde on a PvP server! If you get caught in this situation take advantage of your Racial Abilities ;)

Did this quest whit a bit help from a lv 80 warlock. the hardest in quest is to get 12 charred horns ! the beast you need to kill is not hard but it is 10000000 other animals in lv 25-29 there how will attack you .And make sure if you get help from a person to say you need help in RK to becus you need get something from the first boss there! PS i did this quest whit a lv 21 warrior gnome arms.

Ok for everyone thats have troubles findout where you get your Quest items here they are: The spider fangs are in wetlands here a cords to cave 58.3,63.3 The charred horn's and The galvanized horn are in stonetalon moutians here are the cords for a good spot to start farming 32.8,68.9 and last the vial of phlogiston is looted of roogug in razonfen kraul. hope this help :)

Just finished this quest, and I gotta say that Razorfen was the hardest part. There are many high level mobs in the way, 25+ to 28+. The one you have to kill, Roogug, is near the end of the instanced dungeon. He's a regular level 28, fairly easy to kill. I only managed to get to him thanks to the help of a level 42 warrior.

Razorfen Kraul, by the way, is in the southern tip of The Barrens. It is an instanced cave.

You can find this instance in the far south Barrens. You need to go almost to Thousand Needles to get there.

Just to pass info on to those that haven't either done this quest or completed this quest. I'm not sure if anyone that has completed this quest, did it on their own. I highly doubt it unless the quest has changed. I was able to do everything other than defeat Roogug. I was able get to him but it turns into a 3 on 1 fight. Those that say he was easy because he is just a plain lvl 28, well someone updated the quest because he isn't a plain lvl 28. He is a lvl 28 Elite. Now if it was a 1 on 1 fight then he would be somewhat easy but there isn't a way to pull either of the 3 without all coming. So, if you have to do this part of the quest bring a little help, because you will be facing 2 Elite LVL28s and a Rock Mob of 22 (I think).

Roogug location is as follows:

Right when you enter the instance, Take the first LEFT. It curves around and then goes over a vine "bridge", go OVER the vine bridge. There are about 10 elites that you have to kill and he will be right there on the right. It is really close to the beginning and this is the ONLY way to get there.

I am lvl 30 Warrior and had the help of my friend (lvl 28 Druid). We had no problems getting to and killing Roogug. If you take the RIGHT instead of the LEFT, you are screwed.

there is an underground passage with no creeps in it that goes from south east from astranar, straight to stonetallon mountains. so you don't have to get past any orcs at all!

lvl 31 Dwarf Warrior

50 spider fangs = Incendicite Ore dungeon in Wetlands, plus you can get Silver/Tin Ore in there .. took me approximately 35 minutes to farm the Fangs here.

Charred Veil = 13 Horns (12 for horns off the regular Chim's, 1 Galv off of a Matria). Stick to the mountain base in the valley to find the matriach .. I saw several while down there killing Horde.

Had potions .. used shield/defensive stance on Roo and his buddies. Used defensive stance to lessen damage while I killed one. This allowed me long enough to wait on the 1 min timer cool down for potions. Finished 2nd Roo fiend off, drank and proceeded to finish Roo last.

<edit> you may not need the item .. but .. I think for the end-game warrior quest, you have to follow the entire path from beginning to end, no? <edit>

So, I hear a lot of "this armor sucks" and such. Basically, it's the mirror of a Shining Silver Breastplate (The Str and Stam values are flipped). The pro to this is the 1/hour 30 Rage, which, if you're fighting a boss or a small group of enemies, can be very nice. Also, it doesn't use your potion cooldown, so you can still use a healing potion.

This isn't the only item you get for being a 20+ Warrior, though. And I think people fail to see it. After you complete this quest, you talk to Grimand Elmore and he gives you a quest that nets you a Fire Hardened Coif, with (I think) +7 Strength and +8 Stamina (Somewhere in that ballpark). This was the first helmet I got and far better than the other one I saw (Which was +6 Spirit/Stamina, not too useful for a Warrior aside from the Stam). Then, after completing that quest, there's a guy in Ironforge in the Gnome area (Where you get all the Gnomer quests) who gives you a third quest which nets you new gloves with +6 Str/Stam. All in all, just from the quests (Not counting all the kills from mobs/etc) I think I got 15 or 20k in XP for doing all 3 quests, not to mention far better gear than I had before.

Had help in RFM from a lvl60 friend b/c I knew by the time I got to RFM at lvl35, the armor would be obsolete. Prefer SM over this place anyway.

The guy who wrote the directions as taking the left fork, then taking the vine bridge, and finding the quest target just past the cauldron was dead on accurate.

Some tips for Alliance:
Pick up Retrieval for Mauren (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=1078/retrieval-for-mauren 6 crystallized scales, as you may be killing these Basilisks that get in your way). He's in one of the curved pathways in the SW mage quarter. Basilisks drop Crystallized Scales you need for this quest. These buggers will probably get in the way, so might as well get this quest. You pass by about 4-5 before you get to the vale, might as well start killing them.

While going thru Windshear Crag, follow the west side and you'll find a hut with a goblin. Get the quest Super Reaper 6000 (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=1093/super-reaper-6000) and go back to the big stationary machine, climb up and kill the Operators, they should drop the plans. If no, there are other Operators in the area that will. There is a limited supply vendor just north of the goblin hut, he's standing in a crevace and it's easy to miss him. He may have something of use, otherwise you can use him to sell your vendor trash if you are grinding in the area. Turn in the quest back at the hut and get the next quest which you just talk to a goblin near the FP in Ratchet. Since I have you going to Ratchet anyway, might as well get some XP while you're getting your FP (Flight Path).

When you get to the main road outside the Crag, go north to get the FP. Pick up quest Reclaiming The Charred Vale (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=1057/reclaiming-the-charred-vale while at the peak). It's a harpy grind/kill quest. They'll be getting in your way so you might as well knock out a quest while you are at it.

There may be other quests in the Vale but I don't know/can't remember any. When I first went thru the Vale in my mage, I was wondering why those Chimera weren't part of any quest I had (It's warrior quest target).

The fiery elementals occasionally drop Elemental Fire. So may be worth it to kill them instead of avoid them. The stone elementals may drop elemental earth. I believe these were the first elementals to drop that item.

For Alliance, while you are in the Charred Vale, I recommend to go ahead and run the gauntlet and get your FP to Nigel's Point in Desolace so you don't have to go back thru there. The exit is at the opposite end of the Vale and you're going to be there anyway finding the Matriarch.

From Nigel's Point, fly back to Stonetalon Peak then run all the way back south thru Stonetalon Mountains and enter the Barrens from the south exit of Stonetalon Mountains. Run across the Barrens going east, and get your FP for Ratchet. Take the ship across the ocean and get your FP to Booty Bay. Head back to Ratchet and start making your way down to RFM. If you have high level help, they can fly into BB or Ratchet and meet you at RFM.

After flying back to Stonetalon Peak, you get another quest that sends you down into 1K Needles. Once you are done in RFM, go south down the lift into 1K Needles. The Tauren guard chased me on the lift but LOL he fell! By the time I got to the bottom he was miraculously running back up the vertical wall ;p Run NW to the end of 1K needles and turn in the quest , get the FP, sell vendor trash, then back thru 1K Needles, to shimmering flats. Head south and get your FP in Gadgetzan. Yes I do love having my FPs!

Once you get back to Stormwind to pick up your armor, you can also turn in your quest to Mauren.

I like the XP reward, but Kind of disappointed by the armor, I have been using Shining Silver Breastplate 214 armor, +14 STR +6 STA (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=3502/mudsnout-blossoms) which I had crafted awhile ago. On my server can usu be had for 3G since there's a good oversupply.

I will hang onto it as it's good tanking armor for an instance.

As far as the Spider Fangs in the wetlands, mine the Incendicite Ore as you can turn that in for a quest reward, if you are a miner. The Spider's Silk you get can be auctioned for about 1G per silk ! Useful to tailors and leatherworkers. You'll get from 1-6 during the spider part of your quest, don't just vendor this off! It's worth alot more than the higher level Shadow Silk and Thick Spider's Silk, because the drop is so uncommon.

For you miners, there is at least TWO veins of MITHRIL ore. Mine these first, then they will repop as you are questing. One is on the east edge of the Vale, the other is kind of in the middle on a little hill.

You'll find a few iron veins while going thru 1K needles.

By the way, its easier to run through Ashenvale to get to the Barrens than it is to run through Strangelthorn Vale to get to Booty Bay. When you get to the Horde guard post at the entrance to the Barrens, run to your left a bit (east) and there is a broken section in the wall where you can just walk right through.

I recommend stopping in Ratchet on your way down and then taking the boat over to Booty Bay and getting the flight path there then coming back to Ratchet and on your way to RFK.

First Step: Set ur hearthstone to Stormwind
Second Step: Get help before getting hopes of doing the quest.
Third Step: Kill the damned spiders in thelgen rock. (53,63 are coords)
Step four: go to Razorfen Kraul. Tell your group you have to go after roogug, or just finish the Dungeon. DO NOT forget to loot.
Step five: Get out of RFK, dont hearth.
Step 6: Walk all the way up to the horde camp guarding stonetalon.... follow the road then take all armor off for no durability damage, or send in a decoy and run.
Step 7: Walk to Charred Vale (34,58) and kill chimaera like if your life depends on it. FRENZY!
Step 8: Get to the Chimaera Matriarch you will aggro all 3 sadly. After you loot him Hearth.
Step 9: Get your armor
No Wipes due to the sit and watch tactic

Wow, this quest has a lot of running!

Seemed like a good idea to focus only on this quest (for the gear) rather than doing the normal routine of accomplishing many quests while grinding, etc...

But ... if you are Alliance, this means running through the Wetlands (since if you are like me you had no reason to go there before this quest - except maybe the Algaz Gauntlet). Get all the Spider drops in the Incendicite Ore dungeon - the first big cave left of the road. Then, to Auberdine, and running to Ashenvale. Don't forget flight points!

From Ashenvale, go south-east along the road to Silverleaf(?) refuge and take the tunnel to Stonetalon. Then, south to the road, and north all the way to the flight point (and the inn). Then south, all the way to the Charred Veil (bottom of the Western vally in this zone) for the horn drops from the Chimaera. They drop quick. The Matriarch (south west corner of the area) drops the single item.

Then ... hearth to the Stonetalon flight point, empty bags, and fly to Ashenvale. Then ... more running.

From Ashenvale, I ran south to the main route into the Barrens. Got killed by the guards, but it was an easy corpse run, and safe rez. Run south through Barrens to the road East to Ratchet (for flight point), then back to main road and south. I kept a careful lookout for the occasional guard, and stayed mainly just in sight of the road.

Then at the Great Lift I just ran past the guard to the end of the platform, and fought him until the lift arrived (a few seconds) and I got on. He jumped down the cliff, but I left combat before reaching the bottom. No problem.

I didn't read the other posts here, so missed the corpse. Don't miss it. Running back and forth through Thousand Needles is no fun. Go to the West end of Thousand Needles and get the flight point. This seems like the easiest place to hang while finding a group for RFK.

This quest takes at minimum 4-5 hours, and players level 20 through 40 WILL need another player to help them obtain the Vial of Phlogiston. Here is a list of the items and there locations:

Scorched Spider Fang: Thelgen Rock, north of Dun Algaz.
Your're gonna need 50 of these, but fortunately the spiders drop 1 to 3 of them every time, so it is simply a matter of having time, and three inventory slots. Both the Leech stalkers (found both in and outside the cave) and the Cave Stalkers drop the fangs.

Charred Horn: Charred Vale, the western area of Stone Talon Mountains, that looks like a round arena on your map. The Charred horns have nearly the same drop rate as the Fangs, but the monsters who drop them are rare, but drop 1-3 of them at once,and you only need 12 of these. The Chimeras look like the wyverns found in Mirkfallon Lake, but have two heads and look more like dragons. Be extremly careful when you fight the chimeras, because they usually patrol around other monsters who are easy to aggro.

Galvanized Horn: Thank fully, you only need one of these, but the Matriarch's that drop them are higher level and rarer than their younger breed. Same method for killing them as the Young Chimeras, make sure the coast is clear, then go for the kill.

Vial of Phlogiston: You only need one of these, but the twist is going to kill you, as you have to kill a 28 elite with severaly guardians. Find a reliable group, then venture to Razorfen Kraul (not Downs) in the Southern Barrens (you almost have to go to thousand Needles), on the right side of the road. Once inside, FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS TO PREVENT YOU FROM GOING ALL OVER THE INSTANCE. Take the first left, then walk across the vine bridge, under the branch from the ceiling, then fight the guys on the right side of the hall.

After this, go back to Stormwind to claim your hard earned prize.

I just did it at lvl 35, soloing RFK because I couldn't find any higher level company. I died once from drawing multiple mobs, and many times almost due to having to take on two at the same time. Everything else was very, very careful pulling with my gun and running around corners / down elevations so the spellcasters would have to approach.

It's pretty annoying for an Ally warrior because RFK is so far out of your way at this stage. Your best luck is probably finding multiple warriors all doing the same quest. I don't recommend soloing, it's tedious as hell.

just like to say dont know if they have made it easyer or not but I soloed the last part as a lvl 32 warrior no pot no nothing, do have a few enchants +3 wep damage to both 1 handed weapons and +4 weight stone on both so I can hit hard. Hope this helps

Did this qst at lvl 25 human warrior its pretty easy i went to wetlands at lvl 24 to do qsts and killed the spiders on my way to menithil harbor then went to stonetalon at 25 and killed the chimeras and got a friend to boost me in rfk just too roogug who is easy to reach in 5 mins if u take the 1st left tunnel u see and follow it across the vine brigde

Completed this quest on lvl 32. Razorfen was not so hard as I thought. Killed the boss on my own. Just be careful, use your range weapon and drag monsters one by one. Pretty good armor.

Did this with my lvl 33 warrior, with great armor. Still died about 15 times and took about an hour but finally got it. Go with lots of healing potion and battle elixir. And don't give up!

My boyfriend was at work, so decided to do this for him, on his lvl 23 PROT. (dinged 24 while doing the spider legs).

Okay first things first: Make sure you have bag space.

I took the tram to Ironforge, then rode to Wetlands. I jumped off, i never walk the whole tunnels :P.

Spider legs:
Finding the cave is simple, it's basicly right when you get out of the tunnes from Loch Modan. Drops are pretty awesome, almost 80% will drop 2 legs. By the time i was at the end of the cave, I had my 50. (the spiders will drop alot of usefull things too, like ichors, sacs, silk etc.) They also have around 500hp, so pretty easy to kill with cleave and TC.

Horns:
This was a bit tricky, but I fugured this way: While i was at Wetlands, i took the boat to Theramore. Then simply follow the road, some crocs will aggro but if youre mounted you will lose aggro and avoid being hit.

Then I entered the Barrens, and headed north. You should see the road on your map, its west from the Crossroads. There are some guards att he border, they were ? to me so I asume they are above 35+. Once I was in Stonetalon, I didnt circle all the way. (if you had a hrode, you should know this). I took a path from the horde village, that leads across the mountains directly to the Vale. Yes, there are guards, you may die, but since it's a low-lvl questing area they can't be higher than lvl 40, I asume 35-40 since they had 1.2k HP. If you just keep riding with no stops, you should avoid and lose them all.

Okay once you're in the Vale, the chimeras are easy to spot. I had killed a few, (they will also drop 2 orns sometimes), when I had to brb so i logged out. When i logged in a matriarch aggroed me, so that wasn;t a problem. I was at the very south in the Vale. Don't go too west, they're mostly south and eastish.

When i had them all, I went back the same way into the Barrens. Headed south till i reached Kraul. KRAUL IS ON THE LEFT ON THE MAP, DOWNS IS ON THE RIGHT. Don't make that mistake :)

I knew I couldn't solo, so I opened up another WoW window, and went to help out on my Dk. Just had the warrior follow me.

Above posts are absolutley right, TAKE THE FIRST LEFT, THEN THE VINE BRIDGE. He is there among 10ish mobs.

And voila, quest done.

Also, don't forget to pickup all the FPs you come across!

Warrior was a draenei, plus a herbalist, so having those 2 extra hots really helps.

When you take the left path you will have to go over a pridge of roots and then you will find him. You cant miss him its a deadend.

I did this whole quest solo at lvl 26 except for roogug. For Roogug I took a lvl 30 and lvl 28 warlock with me into instance and made it to and defeated roogug. Most annoying part of quest was waiting for that stupid Chimeara Montriach to spawn. The instance with Roogug is not that hard but you HAVE to take it slow. Pull one mob at a time and inch your way there. Remember its an instance so you have plenty of time, things shouldnt respawn. You cant, however, get to roogug too quickly. you take a left at fork and then follow path over the vine and you will find him in the dead end to the right.

I agree this was poor design. A quest you get fairly early before you are really high enough level for the instance. I kept this quest in my log forever, but now have better armor so no point to it.

I could understand if me and my low 20's buddies could do this quest, but you need higher level help, or wait until you are the appropriate level.. in which case this armor will be worthless.

for all those who can't find the spider fangs, its because they're not called scorched spiders, they are called leech stalkers and cave stalkers. i do not have coords, but right as you enter from dun morogh or loch modan you will see spiders on your left near a cave. these are the spiders.

Ahh, the advantage of rolling a warrior as your alt... my fellow guildies are all around 45-50, so just one of them will be able to get my 19 warrior through the whole darn chain when I hit 20. It isn't as satisfying as completed the quest alone (except Roogug), but this armor will multiple times better than the stuff I'm wearing now. Go guildies! It pays to have friends.

Oh, and Laids, I believe Roogug is over the vine, so if that's where you fell, I'm afraid that isn't the way. Good luck!

Is Roogug far from entrance to the Instance? Since entering and going through the left pathway, I've killed more than 7 lv26-28 elite mobs without seeing him. Eventually we got massive links and pt wiped out.

Sigh, and I only need this item to get the quest done. I'm in the Alliance, so next time I'll have to run really far across horde lands to retry again (being pvp'ed 3 times along the way by the Orcish hordes aren't fun; at least they didn't camp my corpse)... anyone can give better descriptions on where to find him? >_<

Where are the scorched spider fangs found? The quest log tells you to ask him for the locations but when I talk to him nothing happens...

I got the charred horns off Chimeras in Stonetalon peak, in the charred vale. Dropped 1-3 horns each time. Galvanized horn was from a Galvanized Chimera up there, but I'm lost on where to find the spider legs.

Horde has a similar quest for this, Brutal Armor. The item itself is identical, diff pic, diff name, but the only identical ingredient is the Vial. Our version is not as intensive tho. 50(!) spider things? egads. According to T-Bot, it said the Chimaera hasn't been seen this push. Was just curious about the mob name which is why I'm here, Hordify-ing yer board :P

We had 2 Warriors lv 32, lv 34. couldn't quite handle it. probably not the same level of DPS as a warlock group. There are also 2x lv 29++ elite and one lv 32++ elite (Overlord Ramtusk) there just up a ramp, just below, 2x lv 29++ elite guards. You shouldn't have to deal with the ramp part.

Anyway, as long as you don't flag (on PvE), and ignore everyone, most Horde should ignore you. We also have a band of 4 roaming lv 25++ Alliance Outrunners, computer controlled, in southern Gold Road, that always grief us, though they usually stick to the southern gold road. Not sure if they will auto flag you guys.

The spiders are at Thelgen Rock in the south part of the Wetlands. If you're entering from Loch Modan, just as you enter the Wetlands, look for spiders roaming around to your left. These are the ones you want, and there are plenty of them, and good ore spawns, in the cave in the back. Enjoy!

This is a good quest to piggyback with the incendicite quest you pick up in Dun Morogh. The cave at Thelgen Rock is where the incendicite is located. Another good quest is Reclaiming the Charred Vale, you pick that one up at Stonetalon Peak, which is kinda-sorta on the way to Charred Vale. Oh, and the Galvanized Horn drops off the Chimaera Matriarch also. Never saw a Galvanized Chimaera. Have yet to do Roogug, and time is running out, as I'm already pushing 35. =P

i went left into the instance and fell into the place where all the boars are i walked round killing the boars and then those slimy guys that put curse of blood on u until i saw some kind of camp it had casters and guards round it , is this where roogug is?

the horde version of this quest is SOOOO much easier. Only TWO quest item, no farming 50 fangs etc. etc. The rest of the stuff can be picked up by a higher level alt or made by the player. For the EXACT same STATS!

ok, mabe im just strange? why do they give you a quest at lvl 20 that most of you say you have to have a party of 3 at lvl 30+ to finish? I solo so i might as well toss this now or have a spot taken in my log for about 20 lvls! I doubt if that chest piece will look any good by then :P

Finished the quest yesterday right before I had to log. Nice chest for a level 22. I did the quest with a 60 friend and took 2-3 hours only because I had no flight paths. We easily did it, well she easily did it I just looted, we got Roogug and did a few things in RFK so I have some good blues to look forward to later on.

Well these directions are really vague, I had a hard time finding the place so I will elaborate...

Upon entering the instance, head to the left. You will soon come to what looks like a dead end over a cliff. It's actually not a dead end -- look to your right, there will be a big vine that goes over the gap. You can use this as a bridge to get to the other side, do so. Once across head straight, you will see a big cauldron which means you're going the right way. Up the path just a ways you will find Roogug to your immediate right, behind some more vines and stuff (may be hard to see).

Very difficult quest to complete on your own. And very time consuming, but the reward is worth it. Im a lvl 28 right now and this item is a definite upgrade from what i had, plus you gotta love the +30 rage bonus for tankin. The exp makes it worth it too...i think i got...like 2500? i got 5 bars offa it.

I've only just started playing the game and my main character is a Dwarven warrior - He was given this quest at lvl 20 and it quite clearly shows its so why are people saying they wish they knew it was group before they started it ? (Perhaps an update has changed the quest info since their post)

At lvl 27 it shows as a Yellow Group quest - at 20 I think it was red. I'm going to do it this weekend with luck and help from my guildmates. I probably don't really need the item but like to do rather than abandon where possible.

Maybe because I play on a RPPVP server the main fun in getting this item will be the banter with the group on the way both in and out of combat - thats the enjoyment I get from WoW. For those of you who like to power game and like to gripe abou this quest or that item - CHILL......

I started the quest chain right at 20. The first quest was so easy. This part of the quest the whole gathering the materials was a little more difficult.

The Spiders Are in WETLANDS They do poison you so be prepared to have to sit about every other spider to regen health.
Note: The Spiders are located right after you come into the wetlands from loch Modan. Also there are oozes in this area I would advise you to not attack them because they cast a disease on you that decreases attack speed by 25%. This will only make the gathering take a lot longer for OBVIOUS reasons. -_-

The Chimaera Are in Stone Talon Mountains (The Charred Vale) There are not many of these mobs so If you want to do like me and get a hunter for tracking that would be great. You cannot miss these mobs they are the big flyerz distinctively different from all the other mobs in that location. (you will also get the galvanized horn off of the Chimaera matriarch in this location)
Note: These creatures stick to the southern charred vale going towards Desolace.

The Last Piece of the puzzle I would suggest Either getting a group to RFK or getting a higher level to help you. ( I had a lvl 35 hunter it was easy for us specially since we were in the same room so communication was great) Anyway Just enter the instance go to the left fork. Clear the mobs. Go over the vine bridge. clear the mobs. The quest Mob is named Roogug I believe. He will be in the next group of mobs to the right behind a couple of large vines. With him will be a warrior class mob and a caster class mob. The quest Mob himself is also a caster and has a rock summon. If all seems lost just kill him and loot em as fast as possible then high tail it back to stormwind and get ur gear on.
Note: I was level 22 When i completed this quest and I will be wearing this chest piece for a long while atleast until I find something better...But I will always hold onto it BECAUZE I MISSED IT THE FIRST TIME I ROLLED A WARRIOR :(

There's a cave full of cave stalkers near Dun Algaz in Westfall, veins of incedite (sp?) ore as well which I thought was intresting.

The spider fangs are in the Wetlands. If you enter the zone from Loch Modan, go a little north and west... the spiders can be found at a cave near the mountains. Each spider drops at least 1 fang and sometimes 2 or 3, so it does not take long to get.

Is it possible for a lvl 32 warrior to solo or even get to Roogug? Once there, is it just him you have to face? Or is it Roogug and other mobs at the same time? I had slowly but surely made my way in the instance. I had gotten in, turned left, crossed the roots... then I aggroed 2 or 3 lvl 28/29s guys so I split. I can take 2 of the lvl 25 mobs in the beg. of the instance, but it seems like one 29 monster nearer to the end is enuff for me.

i got the spider fangs fairly easy just killed aroud 25 leech stalkers in the wetlands but i dont get the other parts. i have no way to get to stonetalon other than boat into auberdine and walk for 3 hours to stonetalon and there is no way im doin that. I also have a question what lvl is roogug? is he an elite?

Scorched Spider Fangs are from the spiders in Wetlands (southeast), outside and inside the cave (north of Dun Algaz). Spiders can be seen from the road connecting Menethil Arbor and Dun Algaz.

I've done eveerything except RFK with my lvl 28. The Matriarch surprised me, so I have no idea how hard it is.

RFK is driving me nuts, though. You walk for an hour, and there are only like 3 alliance people in the barrens and they ignore you. I tried it on my own, but a lvl 28 elite is a bit much.

I have to agree with folks though. The first parts of the quest were very easy, although grouping in Charred Vale is important due to multiple pulls. The RFK instance is a whole different level of hard though. Doesn't seem to fit in with the rest of the shopping list.

I believe this is a 100% drop on the Leech Stalker spiders in the Wetlands. Some have 2, but they always dropped at least one.

Spiders are in the 54. 66 area of the wetlands

For the Chimaera, it's not as easy. I started at 30, 75 in the Charred Vale and dodged basillisk and harpies to find the Chimaera, which have long flight paths. The upside is that the horns are a 100% drop, usually 2 and sometimes 3 of the horns, regardless of Chimaera. The only exception is the Matriarch, which drops the other horn needed - A Lvl 28 beast (non-elite)

When you first enter the instance you can either go right or left, go left. Then you can either keep going left or go straight, go Straight. Then you might have to climb some vines and whatever. If you look at your instance map then you should be able to find him.

Is this the quest where you get Retaliation?

I completed this quest solo no joke with my lvl 24 fury warrior. the armor nuice but i had somthing on that was better.to the hardest part wasnt the rfk intance it was the matriarch chimera..my warrior name is Biggeasy.

He's not that far into the instance at all, it's more then just 7 pulls... You have to take the left fork path, and head forward until you see the dead pigs on the bottom level, and a huge root vine or whatever leading to the other side. Once on that side, you'll have to fight a couple of more mobs (I think 2-3 more shield bashing mobs, and 4+ casters) Once you're through that area, you'll see a huge pot with nothing in it.

Once you see that pot, you'll know you're close to Roogug. He has 2-3 caster guards on him, a patrol, and a couple of more caster/shield bashers around the area..

Picked up the Grimand Elmore quest from Grimand himself, Furen did NOT give me the notes, nor did he offer a quest after the Fire Hardened Mail quest. Lv28 Draenei warr.

UPDATE: I just finished this quest. At level 32, I was able to solo the spiders and chimeras(though it was a long walk). Roogug is another story. I was able to get past the root but no further.

I went back as a lvl 33 with a lvl 33 hunter. We made it to Roogug and all hell broke loose. Luckily he was able to kill a mob and hold off Roogug with his pet while a killed another mob. He died but I just had enuff health to defeat Roogug. Unless you are level 40, I would advise bringing at least 1 person along to help. Though the monsters are 28/29 they are elite and provided quite a challenge.

Wish I would have read this first before starting the quest! This is another example of bad design- you cannot penalize the solo player. I do not have the ability to form groups- I constantly have to get up from my keyboard, and I have no tolerance for someone half my age yelling at me for some perceived error in my combat actions.
By the time I could handle this alone, this armour will be useless- it's already only marginally better than my current chestpiece.

Of course, it would have been nice to know this was a group only quest before wasting a day gathering most of the materials!

I guess I've learned my lesson- always check the results of every mission online first to see if everyone is allowed to participate.

Does anybody know how much of this quest is doable by my high level alt, and how many of the drops won't happen unless I'm playing the character who is on the quest?

I may have to ask my level 60 friends to help me get this great item many levels before I would legitimately be able to get it normally...

I notice that this quest leads to 3 others and each are in one of the major cities. Is the next quest after this determined by your race as to who you have to talk to next? or are you given all 3?

The spawn rate for chimeras is terrible. If you can't find any, you aren't doing anything wrong.

This was NOT easy at all to do for such an early quest. But with the kindness of someone who helped with the Chimeras and Roogug, I have a very hard earned chest piece.

It's possible to solo this at level 31 or 32. Take healing potions, buff food and sharpening stones. Use Demo shout, Rend, Thunderclap. Watch out for casters and always hamstring when they're nearly dead. If it all goes wrong, fear and run out. You'll live to fight another day.

This is the correct route:

Right when you enter the instance, Take the first LEFT. It curves around and then goes over a vine "bridge", go OVER the vine bridge. There are about 10 elites that you have to kill and he will be right there on the right. It is really close to the beginning and this is the ONLY way to get there.
