The mobs you need to kill in this quest is found around 59.37 inn and around the smals tents. The rogues you need to kill are stealthed, so be carefull. The shadowmages can be a bit tricky also, because of their pets. Beeing 2 or 3 people when doing this quest is not a bad idea, since there are a clear risk of pulling many mobs...

finished this quest easily as a lvl 43 hunter, just feign death when u got a really bad pull and it should be done in no time.

for non hunters, just be careful and pull the mobs out for the kill, engaging them inside the area is risky as many mobs hav stealth and may jump u.

co-ords above, (59,37) are good by the way. there are a few 'camps' where they spawn and u can rotate around when one camp's mobs run out.

I managed to do this as a lvl 42 Mage. If you are lvl 42 or higher, you should be able to take all the mobs. There are both lvl 44 and 45 Assassins. Just watch out for aggro, as written above.

This quest is pretty difficult because the rogues pop out of nowhere and the shadow mages have minions with about 1300hp, so you're basically 2 on 1 assuming no rogues decide to attack you. I recommend bringing a friend.

The mob themselves give 2-3 rep with all goblin cities when killed.

And if your a leather worker, tough scoprid patterns drops form these guys.

I was able to do this as feral druid level 41, easy job. just the mentioned aggro is problem sometimes. other problem can be, that you wont find the assassins, pretty low population of them.

Note that whenever you see an assassin mob there will usually be one or two rogues stealthed by it and will aggro.

Assassins and shadowmages are mostly splattered around 58.83 - 63.83. Rogues are a bit harder to find since they use stealth (surprise, surprise). You found 2 of them following that wanted guy, Caliph or something like that and rest from 63.37. Good Luck!

The assasins can be particuarlly tricky to find, but i found a whole mob of the at 64,40. There were few, if no, other types of enemy here, and they were relitively easy to pull.

Very annoying quest. The assassins are few and far between. They also tend to be in the middle of 5-6 mages / voidwalkers with a few rouges in stealth thrown in for good measure.

Managing pulls, arrgo, and multiple mobs can be a challenge - though a good place to practice your skill. Just stay alert for patrols and spawns - I had a number of spawn adds in the middle of multi-mob battles.

If you are a hunter - use tracking to find camps with assassins - don't even bother with camps where there are none - you'll kill plenty of rouges and mages in the camps with the assassins.

Do the quest "Wanted: Caliph Scorpidsting" at the same time - he travels between the two camps with two rouges in stealth. Very easy compared to this quest - plus gives 7200 XP and 1g30s compared to 5300 XP and 65s for this one - go figure.

I found that there was a lot of assasins around 64, 39. Rest really isn't too difficult to find, rogues might jump you from time to time but if you got any sort of tracking skill or increased stealth detection abilities, this quest is a piece of cake really.

For taking down the warlocks as a paladin, it's worth the mana to finish them off with hammer of wrath if you're killing more than one mob at a time. They run away, then fire off shadow bolts at you.

Warlocks have an upper hand here, in several ways:

Keeping out your Felhunter (thus having Paranoia) means that you can easily avoid the rogues.
Paranoia also helps you find the rogues when you do want to engage them.
The Shadow Mages' minions are vulnerable to Banish - I simply pulled with a Shadow Bolt + Immolate on the Mage himself, then banish the voidwalker when it got close.

The rouges are in stealth! Track Humanoids WILL NOT track them!

Calign Scorpidsting should be patrolling around there also for the quest WANTED: Calign Scorpidsting, he is with 2 rouges so even if you don't have the quest you should still fight him if your confident you can take all 3 of them.

If you want you can go southeast (68,41), behind the Caverns of time to do the pirate quests: Pirate Hats Ahoy! & Southsea Shakedown

Whenever you see a rogue when you're doing this quest, kill it. It doesn't matter if you've already killed 8, because they have a very nasty tendensy to jump you in the middle of fights.

As a lvl 44 resto druid i had a bit of a probem with the Shadow Mage's and their Void Walkers, i'd be left with about 30% mana after the fight and have to stop and drink before continuing.
An easy was to deal with these is to put the walker in roots, kill the mage and then use shadowmeld and the void walker disappears. Yay.
This makes it that slightly bit easier

too easy for a lvl 44 ele shaman (while my gear isn't even that good, except heirbloom items)

popped totems from a distance
and started casting LB on caliph
he was already so low health when he got to me that he started to flee without hitting me
finished him off with one more LB
then popped elemental mastery and chain lightning on the rogues and continued single target LB on the lowest rogue then the other untill they're all dead...

ended with 3/4 health and while typing this back to full mana again...

piece of cake!

i did have some trouble finding him however, but the info from previous posts lead me to him

if you are a druid doing this quest for the shadow mages i reccomend doing a starfire on the mage then entangling roots on the void walker. after that just dps the mage down however you may do that,then the void walker.

This is a nightmare for a lvl45 warrior because yo would get the health down and then they would run towards another Wastewander guy. Having hamstring(Warriors)/frostbolt(Mages) or other stuff that works in the same way macro'd to your keyboard makes it a whole lot easier.

It looks like a simple job - knock off a bunch of 42-43 Shadow Mages (but of course you need to kill the Voidwalker too, so each Shadow Mage is actually 2 kills), Rogues and Assassins. But it gets a little more interesting. The Rogues are stealthed all the time (until you whack them), so if you arrive at a water hole and spot 3-4 bad guys, look again because there will also be several rogues around, and they aggro as soon as you're halfway through killing someone else.

Then comes the interesting part. Some poor 45 NE went ahead of me and shouldn't have had much of a problem with 43s and 44s. I found his corpse. Hmmm.

Here's the trick: at one of these water holes with 1 Assassin, 2 Rogues and 1 Shadow Mage (with Voidwalker of course), there is another bunch of guys hiding somewhere (I never did find out where they came from, because it was from a different direction each time) who jump on you from behind. They are only 43s but there are 3 or 4 of them and they are all throwing stun as fast as they can, so unless you're above 50 or carrying a nuclear weapon, you're done.

It was sort of funny the first time and I know the Blizz guys are still laughing. Fortunately this doesn't happen at all of the locations, just one. Now where did I leave my map?

When I first attempted More Wastewander Justice, I was unaware that there is another quest: Wanted: Caliph Scorpidsting (from a Wanted poster in Steamwheedle) that takes place in the same area as More Wastewander Justice.

The mystery group is Caliph Scorpidsting and his two stealthed rogue bodyguards, who roam from one water tower to another and attack anything they don't like. Caliph is only a 47 and the rogues are 46s but I never saw them coming.

Best ways to avoid him (unless you're doing that quest, which is worth doing) are to stay outside the triangle formed by the three water towers and to watch out for him. He's the only named bad guy in that area.

I solo'd as a 44 hunter. Just made sure not to get ganged up on by stealthed guys.

I also killed Caliph by myself. Sent in pet, hit him with all I had, pet died to the rogues, I feign death, rogues leave, I get Caliph's head and I'm finished.

Only death was at the hands of some alliance that rolled in when I was already fighting an assassin.

Definitely worth trying solo at 44, if you ask me, seeing as it wasn't a problem for myself.

Soloed as a 41 druid at the camp around 60,32. Cat for rogues and assassins, bear on mages. Mages were a bit hard, just have to pull and keep healed (regrowth, moonfire, run back, rejuv., bear form, attack, enrage & frenzied regen if you need it). Took a while because I had to wait for assassin respawns.

Solo'd as a 43 Shadow Spec Priest, didn't die once. Obviously the shadow mages were the toughest, I'd just shield, hit the mage with SW:Pain and a few smites, then put SW:pain on the minion, fear the minion, then casually heal and finish him off.

The rogues and Assassins were super easy and great for grinding on, but I wouldn't recommend grinding on the mages as it is pretty mana consuming.

You can use a similar process on the boss. Shield, hit him with everything you have, wait until you're about 1/3 health, then fear all 3, heal, then finish off the boss and run away from the rogues. Come back later and collect the head.

Solo'd as a L44 Shadow Priest. The key for the mages is that you don't have to kill the minions. I would Mindblast them, SWP them, then use MindFlay (repeat as needed). The void walker just sat there and hit on me. When the Mage is almost dead, fear the minion. The mage will die, you run away until the minion resets. It will go back to its spawn point a despawn. Repeat.

This was no problem solo as a 43 fire mage. The Shadow Mages are spaced well enough apart that you can take them on one at a time and as long as you pull from the outside of the camps rather than the center, you'll minimize rogue encounters.

Throw on Dampen Magic, sheep the mage, beat up on the minion, then get to max distance and start wailin on the sheep. If you want to trade up the shadow damage for some weak melee, you can throw a counterspell on him to get him running in. Either way I was able to take on 3 in a row before I had to drink up.

Soloed last night as a 44 Rogue.

The assassins and rogues were pretty straight-forward. Just isolate them and pick them off.

For the mages, I used the following strategy:

1. Distract - to get their attention focused elsewhere.
2. Pick pocket mage - You never know what you'll find.
3. Sap mage.
4. Kill voidwalker while mage is sapped.
5. Kill mage.

Rinse / Repeat x 10

I soloed this with my lvl 45 priest, shadow/disc.

Shadow mages were easy with this pattern:

1. Voidwalker: MB -> SW:P
2. Shadow mage: Silence
3. Kill voidwalker with few smites/MB's
4. Shield
5. Shadow mage is easy when s/he is alone, about 20% of shadow attacks is resisted
6. Drink water
7. Rinse & repeat

Rogues and assassins we're too easy to pick one by one

Just soloed as a level 2 dwarf warrior. Just stripped off all my armor, ran into camp, yelled "Booyah!", and all the mobs died of laughter. Easiest XP ever!

(Seriously, I've never read a post with so much "I solo'ed as level xx" Coordinates are great and fighting strategies are OK, but if 10 other mages have posted their strategies, do you really need to add yours?)

For anyone who may have trouble finding assassins in the area...

Assassins

61, 35 - 2 spawn here.
60, 38 - A few wandering near this area.

For those of you who do not use coords, then the easiest way to explain where those areas are is to look on your map until you see the area with a hill, 2 hills , then another hill -- the brown things on the map -- the assassins wander between the 2 hills and the eastermost hills of the bunch.

Sorry if that's confusing.

NOTE: Caliph Scorpidsting also wanders around this area so be careful.

Shadow resistance Aura v.s the Mages, Hammer of justice, Repentance. Excorsism v.s the minion. A bit mana heavy but it does the job prety good.

Locks have it extremely easy against the shadow mages :p
Just turn on Shadow ward and banish (not even necessary) the VW
Let your own VW (or oter pet if you wish) beat the crap out of the mage and there you have it ! killed

44 lock, did this easily. Shadow ward/send VW on caster/banish VW/kill caster/kill VW. Make sure the group you're hitting doesn't contain Caliph Scorpidsting!

I failed to notice him (he looks like one of the assassins) and suddenly had five mobs (he spawns two rogues)instead of just three, had to sac my VW and run for it! Otherwise, very easy. You can just fear any rogue adds you might get.

this quest is soloable as a lvl 45 shadow priest

there are less assassins so when ur done the other two just mount up and run around there easy to spot.

57.37 is correct just go from camp to camp

Easy with a 42 human warrior:
- you can easily spot the rouges
- shadow mages are down in a few secs, just try not to agro any more mobs in there!
- assasins can be the only trouble, if you aggro someone else to there too

I did this as 44 shaman, go to the beach of Tanaris, which is east of gadgetzan, then go south but in land, and explore from there, sorry cant be more specific, dont use cordinates.

The WasteWander Shadow Mages are quite easy if they are alone, attack mages first, with me it took 3 hits, and one of them was crit, once they die, the voidwalker does not un-summon, it has around 1315 hp, or more.

Soloed this on my lvl 42 Rogue, i dont know why u guys have to solo this at lvl 43+, none of this stuff is difficult, i took on Caliphs entire group and just destroyed him. I used Blade Furry, Evasion, Adrenaline Rush, popped my trinket ( which absorbed damage) and just shredded his flesh and bone, then, JUST TO TOY WITH 'EM, stopped when both rogues were below 150 health and were fleeing, and i let them flee, i pitied them. But the assasins are what im stuck on, cant find em, but i love ganking the lvl 45 pallies and stuff that come running through :D

Soloed, level 42 warlock with VW. The most challenging were the mages with their minions, but they were plentiful and very easy to find.

I didn't have very good luck finding the assassins, but most of them seemed to spawn nearer the coast. It's probably pretty random, but I did a lot of checking around for just assassins once I completed the other two.

Definitely a good source for the leather patterns, but I didn't have as much luck for mageweave cloth. :(

These mobs are south of the mobs in the prerequisite quest, and close to Gadgetzan, so good for experience and a quick humanoid grind. :D

You have to be very careful here, as its easy to aggro another mage, and then an unseen rogue comes out of the woodworks. You were set up for a fight with two (mage+pet), but it quickly can become against 5...or more. Try to get the wanderers between huts first to get your feet wet, and to keep them from walking in on you at just the wrong time...

the mages are the hardest. they are a pain in the ass even when im a hunter. it's weird that when i attack 1 mob, all of a sudden another mage pops up and kills me pet, and i end up having to feign.

Found them located along Wavestrider Beach on the east coast near the beach and Zalashjis Den (not too sure yet what this is for?).

Completed as a level 43 warrior which gave just enough energy to kill both mage and minion in one go. Found the rouges lurching under the tent like structures and generally around. Assassins were more few and far between and did tend to be grouped with the mages but found a couple that could be picked off with gun or crossbow. Needed to seperate from the mobs otherwise would just die a lot!

1. Sheep shadow mage.
2. Kill voidwalker.
3. Break sheep with frostbolt or whatever.
4. Counterspell shadow mage when s/he starts casting shadowbolt.
5. Throw on fire ward.
6. Destroy shadow mage.

Your fire ward will prevent immolate from touching you.

This quest is great for leatherworkers, and people who want some easy money. First you can get alot of auctionable stuff from Shadow Mages, Rouges and Assassins. Four things that you can get from them are Pattern: Tough Scorpid Bracers, Pattern: Tough Scorpid Boots, Pattern: Tough Scorpid Chestguard, and Pattern: Tough Scorpid Shoulders. All of these things auction for about 75s- 175g. Also grinding these guys gets you the Wastewander Waterpouches, which you can hand in to get food. Just as well one of the Patterns drop about once out of every ten guys that you kill. I have made 55g off of only killing those guys and auctioning the Patterns. Also I've gained two levels from grinding those guys.

I didn't have any trouble finding mages or assassins. Of course, being a warlock and able to detect invisibility helped a lot. One thing I noticed about the mages' behavior was that they tended to move across open space near the wells and facilities but didn't hang out where the other mobs were congregating, so if your class can't detect them, you might want to sweep those seemingly empty peripheral areas and if you agro one, there you go.

This quest has the same problem that many other kill x amount of mobs quests have.
Mobs share spawn locations, so if an assassin is supposed to spawn there there is a chance that a rogue or a shadow mage will take over the respawn location.
If you have questie, find their spawns and just kill whatever mob is there and an assassin will likely spawn there after some time.

If the 57,37 spot is busy with lots of people, try the eastern camps around 64, 40. Most people stop and fight the western spawn points while the eastern ones are left alone.

Description

We need you to take on the stronger ranks of the Wastewander nomads now. You've done a good job thus far, but if we are to take back those water wells, then it only makes sense to do it against as few nomads as possible!

This time around we need you to take down their rogues, assassins, and shadow mages. You'll find them east and southeast of here.

I'm not going to lie to you - they're a nasty lot. Do this for us though, and we'll be on our way to taking back what is rightfully ours!
