It is definitely outside of the instance. If you go in through the 'front entrance' it will be in the bottom-leftmost room on the minimap. The treasure is inside of a small chest in a room full of troggs.

Tried to solo as 46 holy priest... Ended up dying and rezzing multiple times, ultimately ending up in the room but my armor was garbage...but I did complete it. To get there, take front entrance and go along path as if going to instance, but keep straight. There will be a fork, keep left. As soon as you go left you will see to your left shadowforges and to your right the stonevault troggs. Go where the troggs are (most lvl 36-37 elite). Fight (or sneak) through into North Common Hall. Chest will be in southwest corner of first room- where there is a blob of rocks on the minimap. There are 3 troggs in hall leading to the room and 6 troggs in the room. If careful you can probably pull to fight one at a time. Good luck.

1. Enter Uldaman's front entrance.

2. Walk in and the screen will show you enter "Excavation Center", continue forward and go under tunnel.

3. Screen will show you back in "Uldaman". Continue forward and screen will show you in "Dig One". Upon entering "Dig One", follow the path left. Do not jump off the edge to the instance portal.

4. At the first fork in the road. Go left and screen will show you again in "Uldaman". As the word "Uldaman" pops up; you are again in a fork on the road. Left = Dwarves -*- Right = Troggs. Go right towards the Troggs.

5. Continue forward and the screen shows you enter "North Common Hall".
6. Go through the tiled hallway, and when you enter the room; go towards the far wall in-front of you. Then look towards the right, and the chest is there on the floor.

*Note: Standing on the box. I have these coordinates: 53,62.

Those Ranged troggs are a pain in the ass when you're melee, especially when fighting 5 or 6 at once... They just spam net you! :O

Finished as a 43 druid. Stealthed in, grabbed treasure, hearthed out, and pulled only one mob. Cowardly? Yes. Easy exp and rep? You betcha.

Currently this box is unlootable, so if you're having this problem don't worry because everyone else is, a GM won't be able to help you so just disband and carry on.

There are two North Common Halls. I found the chest at 51-63. Go to the instance entrance, but face away from it (back facing the entrance). There is a small hallway in front of you. Follow it and there is another part of North Common Hall. Hope this helps!

Man... this guy's quest progression text is just one terrible typo after another. "We're" should've been "were" and the first "get" should be completely omitted. Apparently the proofreaders were at lunch.

there're 2 halls in the area outside the instance, they're the green areas on the map and the "north common hall" is actually the one in the south

i just did this quest and spent ages wondering why i couldnt get option to open the chest. turns out that there is an identical horde quest in SOUTH common hall but we need to retrieve the chest in NORTH common hall... when you do solution to doom quest you take the right fork in path - to get to north common hall take the left fork in path and the chest is at the back of the room behind a pillar. i stealthed in killed two mobs got chest and stealthed back out again.

Horde: It's not in the instance. It's in the far back of the South Common Hall. (If you have the Uldaman instance entrance in front of you, it's the first entrance to your left side. There's level 37 elites. They're close to eachother, so it'll be hard to kill one at a time.

Stealth mode: The chest is located away from mobs. So if your high enough level you can stealth trough and get it. (I was lvl 43, i think it won't be possible for levels much lower. It's a very narrow path)

Just completed it as a 42 warrior. Take off your equipment and die near where the chest is. Rez and stand on top of the narrow elevated area just beside the ancient chest. Loot it, die, and /cheer.

o wait guys i found it. there were 3 37 elites next to the chest to i sapped one and distracted the other 2 wit distract and i quickely looted it and when back into stealth. it worked perfectly. i was 43 at the time when i soloed this quest

I just did this quest today with some help from a lvl 65 hunter . .
The chest's is located just outside the portal when ur just about to enter uldaman you know , there are two chests and for that reason there also are two path's who are both green , both path contains a chest. And i dont really remember which path is for the horde and which one ally.

Ok, I went to the instance entrance - but not inside. I went to the room to the west and found it filled with cavemen. I killed them all and am standing at 53,61 looking at a small chest that is hidden behind a pillar... and it won't let me open it! I think I know why - the game says I'm in the SOUTH Common Hall, and I need to be in the NORTH Common Hall. The only thing I can see that I can get to that's north of me is the freakin instance!

To find the North Common Hall:

Go to the place near the instance where people usually drop down and run off to the right to go in the instance. Instead of dropping down look to the left, there is a small passage. Going in you'll see a bunch of dwarves digging. You'll have to kill a few of these, but you can get by most of them because they have a narrow agro range.

Once in this passage go to the right and you'll see a passage with cavemen instead of dwarves. Go through here and kill all these guys. You can pull them in ones or twos. Often a second one will stand back and throw rocks at you while you fight another. The rocks didn't seem to hurt much, in plate and shield anyway.

Eventually you'll come to the North Common Hall. The chest is small and hard to see, but against the far wall. I had to clear the whole room of cavemen before I found the chest.

I had to do this alone as the rest of my Ulda party was not up for looking for this with me. I solo'd as 43 proc paladin farily easily, but it would be hard for a lower or squishier character to solo it.

i will clarify because it still took me an hour to find this chest with all these add comments that make it so much more complicated than it has to be...

if you are a alliance... GO LEFT BEFORE the jump down to the instance. this area will be called dig 1. then go RIGHT through the area of troggs and u will see the hall. go to the end and u will see an urn and the chest

horde, do jump down by the instance and go to the opening that's a little left of the instance. i'm pretty sure thats south hall

also, im a level 45 warrior, but i went with the kamikaze strategy out of sheer laziness cuz i didn't feel like fighting all those troggs, which give me no xp. well, it doesn't work. the ones around the chest seem to be set up to trigger one another. so i ended up killing the entire room anyway. so just dont be lazy and kill em all if u can. save urself the trouble

also, it seems to be set up so u should be doing the urn quest (chain quest from the body u find in the badlands, kill murdaloc, and go back to inspector iroband) at the same time. thats why there are urns in north hall and down where the horde should go.

Outside the instance, in chest resting in the North Common Hall (which is, ironically enough, south of the South Common Hall. Go fig).

Turned in for 3600 exp and standard rep increase with IF at lvl 44 (quest green).

THE CHEST IS NOT IN THE INSTANCE!

Was looking around inside Uldaman for the hall...bleh.

Just outside the instance. Horde side is the small blue room right outside the instance entrance.

I found the chest rather easily (had help getting there with lvl 60 healer :-)), but couldn't interact with it. No 'open' icon whatsoever.

EDIT: Nvm, read this all through and found out north and south are switched. Wrong quest (Horde version with same name), wrong chest.

For me (alliance not sure if that makes a dif) it was a small chest located at 51,64 in the south green area next to a mithril mine in a room with stonevault cave hunters

Just to clarify... the chest is in the southmost green colored room. It has a bit of brown on the south end of it. This is outside the instance. Don't confuse this with the far left room.

First of All: NOT IN THE INSTANCE! In the area before instance.

Goto the main cave entrance of uldaman, go thru until on you mini map you see two green areas ( this are the two common halls that exist outside the instance). You will be going to the North Common Hall, and the irony here is that is actually the one further south on your mini map along with being the bigger of the two green areas on your mini map.

There will be Troggs...up to you to deal with that part....

With you getting to hall itself there is a hallway then the main hall area. Just go straight thru the hallway on towards the wall in front of you as you come in the main hall area.

It is a smallish brown chest about knee high to the avg human. Also if you mine there is a Truesilver/Mithril Vein right next to it.

Hope this makes it crystal clear w/o coords.

The chest for the Horde is in the South Common Hall, to the North-East outside the instance (if you're standing from just outside having left). It's guarded by non-elite troggs and isn't too hard to get to solo.

Also, amusingly, the NPC you're retrieving this for is the Forsaken that cleans up after the bats in the Undercity flightpath, and the actual artefact itself is.. a family heirloom broom. :D

Description

I had myself a fine job as a digger at the Uldaman excavation site in the Badlands... that is until those blasted troggs showed up. I escaped with my hide barely intact, and nothing else. In the chaos, I left my most treasured possession. It's safe from the troggs in my chest, sure, but it's right in the thick of 'em.

I'd be in your debt, both in honor and coin, if you could fetch it for me! A chest with my name on it is at the end of the North Common Hall. That's the one you need to get in.
