To my understanding inorder to except this quest you must complete all the quests in Taunka'le village.

Along the way the Tanuka you are escorting will stop for a moment. If you are mounted, you'll have to stop at these times as well, or your charge will die. Its actually easier to walk the entire way.

What's a shame is that the village doesn't physically change after you complete this quest, despite the ability to do so with phasing in Wrath.

After completing the initial death knight questline, I expected to return to Taunka'le Village and see it abandoned.

While using the phasing to make Taunka'le look abandoned may be possible, I would remind everyone that Taunka'le is one of only two places that low-level leatherworkers (and skinners) can train, the other being Howling Fjord. As such, unless the trainers were to be moved to Warsong Hold, I don't see them making Taunka'le village look abandoned.

No, you don't although it seems that way sometimes :) You have to do the one with the goblin - Jenny and the mule, first to start it - as Nafe noted, above (Load 'er Up! - Nafe linked it) and you have to do all the quests that are given by the Chief and his two advisers standing next to him.

And to get this quest, the real start of the Wrath Gate, you have to be level 71. Then you get the quest to talk to Mother Tauranook outside the gates of Taunka'le Village.

It's not a bad idea to be level 71, since you'll gain a level, possibly a bit more in the entire Wrath Gate series if you stick only to the quests necessary to continue it. If you do some of the side quests that are in the same area, and gain another level, such that you are 72/73, you'll be fine for the entire quest line. I did the entire chain on my Shadow Priest at the minimum level, but then I had transferred her from alliance and she'd raided for a couple of years and had decent level 70 gear; also having done the entire chain on other characters makes it easier to do it at the minimum level. :)

There is a poster who gives the entire quest line, and he/she has them right. I'm surprised that person hasn't linked them here, but it's the second comment to a quest just a couple down the line called Into the Fold , the fourth in the chain listed for this quest.

Do check the second post to Into the Fold -- it's a very good listing of the quests that are absolutely required, and helps such that you know which are mandated and which are extras for fun and exp. And it goes without saying, if this is an alt, try to pick up the BoA ("Heirloom" - Bind on Account) items - the most necessary are the shoulders and the chest - each gives 10 percent additional experience for killing mobs *and* to quest experience. It's a lot of fun to see your minor quests giving you 30k and the bigger ones giving you 50k. The other item is the flight book, obtained from the person on the deck in Dalaran who trains cold weather flight at level 77. You can buy the book for one thousand gold, with your existing level 80, and send it to your alt. Unless of course you're leveling with new to the game friends, in which case it's more fun to all be on an even footing.

As others have pointed out, the quests listed by the poster I mentioned above aren't always done in that exact order and there are so many quests in the same area that are easy to do while doing the necessary quests to progress the Wrath Gate sequence - however, the leggings you get for completing the chain, and the trinket are very nice for low level, especially the trinket, which is best when obtained earlier rather than later.

I agree that it's the best quest line in the game, most Epic and fun, full of lore for those who love it, and still tons of fun for those don't.

Description

We are lost, <name>. This place has been our home for many generations, but it is no longer safe. There remains only death... Death and a memory of what used to be.

I have called for the evacuation of Taunka'le. All remaining taunka must leave at once and make their way to our capital city, Icemist, located in the Dragonblight.
