Open the pod on top of the tower at 60, 53. Take the goo. Two spawns will appear when you open the pod, they need to be killed together within 10 secs. So bring one down to about 2-3% and kill the other, then kill the first. Loot the Encrusted Silithid Object, and deliver the quest.

The main reason to do this quest is for rep. If you are already lvl 60 and need CC rep, this isn't a bad chain for you. After you get the object from the tower and return to CH, you get 100 rep. Then you go to Moonglade and finish up the quests for another 200 rep.

It's a much nicer way to get rep than grinding twilight cultists and their dukes/templars for repeated item turn-ins.

Check around for uncompleted quests, there's usually some easy reputation there.

Solo'd as a Level 57 Warrior
You don't have to fight to reach to top of the tower.
Just run to top of the tower and die there.
Then recover your corpse there will be two enemies.
Dring a pot and fight only one of them .
When you kill it it will drop the object.
When you get it run for your life or ressurect from spirit master
You completed the quest...

Ran to the top of the tower and was able to drop the aggro of the three mobs before I got there. Opened the pod, killed one mob, looted and jumped. ;) Easy peasy. Solo'd as a 59 priest.

Confirmed about the 'They need to be killed together within 10 secs' thing, forgot that, i still killed all 3 the ambushers as a shaman though. Pretty easy, 1000 health left and 500 mana, but i did run up and died. Used ankh, drinked to full health/mana and killed all 3. They're very easy as a level 56 shaman.

Soloed this as a 56 shadow priest. The bottom of the tower had two of the druids that I pulled out to to kill first, each of whom spawned a bug. Once those two went down, three bugs spawned when I actually entered the tower itself. I dealt with those, and then there were two bugs at the top. I killed one, looted the item, and jumped out. The hardest part for me were the three bugs at the bottom that spawned, and I had to fear them around to handle them all.

did this as a 54 shadow priest, and I can tell you it wasn't easy! I had to die a couple of times before making it to the top of the tower. the easy part was up there, feared the two mobs, killed the lowest lvl (56 in my case) looted it and levitated out :) the tough part of this quest was the part where you go inside the tower and you have these three drones that pop up...especially cause i didn't know they would ^^ but otherwise quite simple and nice xp (6000)

this quest is so condusing and stupid. but it was very nice for xp. and i coudnt make this with my warrior lvl 55 arms.
at the lower of the tower, i feared mobs and took major healing potion when hp was low, but that coudnt kill them.....
this quest is unbeliveble. i had to get help from lvl 58 warlock and thne we could togheter kill the lower guards, and at top, the ambusher never stopped spawning, and i took advice from wowhead, and well there wernt any good advices ....
i maybe did this 10 times to get past lower of tower, and i still cant loose my mind of wow that typing this quest as yellow for lvl 55, and more worse is that it wasnet a group quest....

Soloed as 56lvl affl lock. Killed two mobs at lower level, enough simple, main thing - is to take one wasp from VW, then at the top drink/eat/consume shadows, Took about 5 mobs, then ran out of mana..Sacrificed VW, looted corpses and ran out... This q is simple for lock, but even with VW it's pretty hard for 55 level...

The 1st post here is very misleading. I died 3 times trying to take one down to < 5% health, then kill the other, etc. This may be possible for a warrior, by as a 57 Rogue I don't have nearly enough armor to take that kind of beating. It wasn't until I realized that YOU ONLY HAVE TO KILL ONE OF THE MOB'S and loot it that I was able to complete the quest.

I was not able to stealth all the way up the tower (there is one mob right on the narrow ramp, and I could not see a way around him, so I just ran up, drawing several mobs in the process, then Vanished once at the top. I have the preperation talent, so I reset the cooldown on my Vanish, spawned the Mob's, killed the weaker one (there is a lvl 57, and a lvl 58), looted it, then Vanished again.

Just remember to kill and loot the mob. I forgot to and ended up having to run up and die then rez.

If your a shaman or capable of using a shield, it really helps on these quests.

Solo'd as a 57 Mage (Arcane / Fire).

I'm an Alch, so I used an invis pot, ran to the top. No mobs there. Opened the pod, 2 bugs spawned. Hit mana shield and AP and attacked one of the bugs. PoM Fireball, Fireblast, finished with Arcane Missiles. Looted, jumped, hit slow fall and ran.

I guess the easyest way to do this quest is the way Stompa said..
run like hell in an up as far as u can come, and die.. then ressurect as far up as u get.

then 2 lvl 57-58 mobs appears. consentrate on takin only one (then loot) and jumprun off.. they respawn only a few secs after loot, so dont try to kill the other one :P

I ran to the top of th tower died, rezzed at the top and opened the goo thingy. Two wasps spawned, killed one then died. I got back up and turns out yet another wasp spawned. So I loot the corpse of the wasp I killed, and jumped off the tower. Yelling "You'll never take me alive" and the impact from the jump killed me. So in this quest, I've discovered that the cenarion circle is made up of druids who want me dead.

Completed this as a frost mage but it wasn't easy. Happened like this:

1) In the bottom of the tower were two Tortured Sentinels ( https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/npc=12179 ), each of which spawned a Hive'Ashi Drone ( https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/npc=13136 ) when it was killed.
2) Food and drink time.
3) On entering the tower at the bottom three more Drones spawned.
4) Food, drink, and wait for cooldowns to finish.
5) At the top of the tower two Drones spawned when the goo was collected.
6) Dropped to the bottom and there were some more mobs but at this point I legged it so no idea what they were.

In all for me, two lvl57s and seven lvl58s. Note though that the mobs could have been a level lower and the sentinels don't always spawn a drone when they're killed. Note alse that at the top of the tower there is bugger all room to maneuver - I ran into one corner with mobs chasing to frost nova then ran to the opposite which was just out of melee range of the drones.

As a 56 Hunter I Ran up to the Top of the Tower and Feigned Death. Put on Beastial Wrath + Intimidation and Took out the first bug, then the second. then the third and killed about 12. Then looted one and Jumped.

I noticed in the end they only give 82exp per to someone the same level/lower level than them.

Finally managed to solo it with out dieing. I pulled the guys in the tower and killed them. Healed me and i changed to bear form and got in. I got upstairs and then managed to kill the three mobs by using bear>stomp>heal>barkskin>heal>bear. Then sumoned the 2 insects, killed 1, took the loot and run away!!!

i went up to the tower. in cat form stealthed, when i got up there was two Ambushers. so i killed one, a new one spawned, killed on more, a new spawned. after i killed seven, i though i needed a new plan, went to wowhead, and found out that i didnt need to click the hive, but just loot a bug..

If you're like me, and just don't care enough to kill the mobs, you've always got the option of running to the top of the tower and dying (or Feign Death). It's not a far run from Cenarion Hold. Resurrect, eat/drink up, and prepare for a 2-3 mob fight. Kill one mob, loot the body, and if you don't think you can kill them all, just jump off the tower. You'll likely die, but if you don't, then run.

Mscofield has the right idea. i did it with my 59 resto shammy. i ran up the stairs, died, rez, then fought the two after opening the sack/hive thingie. then jumped off the tower. i feel sorry for those who don't know about WOWhead. essentially this quest is a pain in the butt.

This is quite possibly the worst quest I've ever done.

There are two Tortured Druids or Sentinels at the bottom of the tower, but when you go in, more mobs spawn or appear from upstairs. Even with Retaliation, Death Wish, Gift of the Naaru, a Health pot, Intimidating Shout, and a level-up that restored all my health... I still couldn't kill them. So I ended up running upstairs before I died, where I rezzed, opened the goo, killed the two mobs, and then jumped off to die again.

All the information is correct. The wasps see you, rather you probably bump one trying to sneak by it up the ramp. But you can, once they chase you, run up the ramp and Vanish. That dispelled them.

Then upstairs buff up-I did Elixir of Major Agility and Major Defense. Killed one... Tried to kill the other but another spawned so I looted the one and jumped. They chased but I had Sprint and away I went.

Of course the dying and rez at the top will have the same effect. That's what I thought I was going to have to do so I didn't use my buffs until the top not on the way in. Of course having the Duskbat Cape meant I didn't take any damage from the fall.

Okay, after doing this with a rogue this afternoon, I thought about how to do it with a hunter.

Pretty easy actually.

1. Get to the entrance to the tower...You can avoid most mobs pretty easily unless your too low of level.

2. Send pet in...(throw a mend pet on him/her), let her/him get aggro on the whole room.

3. Run around them and up the ramp. Don't know if my pet killed the bugs but after pet died the only thing that followed me were the druids to the top.

4. Feign death left me at the top alone (took a bit of a hit cause I didn't realize that the druids had followed me).

5. Revive pet, recharge.

6. Set freeze trap, wait 30 sec, raid the honeycomb and summon the two.

7. Freeze trap goes off, kill one get the Encrusted Silithid Object and jump leaving your pet to fight.

8. If you run out fast enough, your pet will despawn and you can summon it as you are running to Valor's rest.

You're done.

As a mage, it isn't too hard. Get up anyway you like and wait until you have full health/mana and all cd's are up. Summon the bugs, ice nova and blast away. When the nova breaks, iceblock until it's back up again. I popped a health pot as this point, they're very handy. Ice nova again, do some more pew-pew, loot, and slow fall off the tower.

It depends on luck and timing.

Solo'ed as 54 Feral Druid, was surprisingly easy!

Stealthed to entrance, popped a lesser invisibility potion (as someone else said above) and ran up the stairs, avoiding all the spawning mobs below. Then opened the hive box.

The 2 mobs that spawn are pretty heavy but keep your Regrowth active all the time and kick off a Rejuvenation every time you cast Regrowth. These 2 will fill your health up just as fast as it is drained. Kick off Innervate when your mana is getting below 40%. And just keep pounding at 1 of the mobs in cat form, ignore the other one. Then when it dies, loot it and jump off the tower. Keep a major healing potion handy in case of problems.

The whole thing took only 2 minutes :)

I didn't really think this quest was too bad, I solo'd it as a level 57 Shadow Priest without using any potions, and here is how....

First of all, kill the two druids at the bottom of the tower. I pulled them outside because the 3 bugs don't spawn until you actually enter the room. After that, heal up with food/drink and put a PW:S on. Run through the door and up the tower, by the time you reach the top and the 3 bugs catch up to you, you can probably use another PW:S. Target one, VT -> DP -> SW:P -> VE. Target the next one, VT->SW:P->VE, and again for the last one. The first one should drop fairly soon after you DoT up the last one and then its just a matter of waiting and using MB on the remaining bugs.

If you need health even after all of the VE, drink up/eat and do the same thing to the two bugs that spawn when you open the goo. Done.

Worst. Quest. Evar. Level 57 Rogue. I stealthed into the tower, and was immediately spotted... So I blasted up the ramp and died. I then Rezzed on the ramp, healed up, then stealthed to the top. Here is where the fun began. Opened the pod to get the goo... faced off against the two mobs.... or so I thought. They kept respawning! Four mobs later, and I'm a corpse... so I make my way back to the ramp, rez, heal and back to the top. THEY KEEP RESPAWNING! Three mobs later, and again, I'm a corpse. Lather, rinse, repeat... SAME THING! I must've killed at least 12 mobs before I just swan dove off the tower. And guess what? THEY FOLLOWED ME! Dumbest quest ever. I better ding when I turn this in.

3. Ran up the tower.
4. Killed everything.
5. Looted crusty thing.

I soloed it as a 59 holy priest and found it easier to not even bother running to the top while alive. I took the strategy most people did: Die. But if you want less hassle just run into the tower and stand in the middle of the bottom floor and wait for them to slaughter you. When you run back to your body, instead of coming back right next to yourself, climb to the top of the tower in whatever spectral form you posses and come back to life there. You will never be more than about 10 yards away from your body during this climb if you've done it right. Then heal and drink to your hearts content. Loot the goo and kill one of the mobs to get the item you need then jump off the roof (I took 1099 damage from the fall-so careful if you don't have enough health).
Also had the same reaction: Really Mr. Elf? You want me to anger the big bad bugs? Sheesh.

I solo'd as 57 night elf druid - took out the 2 undead and 3 wasps at the bottom, then ran to the top, opened the pod and looted it, killed one of the wasps that spawned, looted it, and jumped. I died on the jump but was in the clear to resurrect at the bottom.

A small add to the above - after looting the goo and (probably) dying from the wasps, run back up the ramp to just short of the upper platform. When you resurrect you will only have one wasp to deal with. The other can't get to you. At least it worked for me.

BTW, next door at Cenarion Hold is an airport. I didn't stay around to see if there is an inn or not, but there were many NPC's with yellow exclamation points.

I soloed as a lvl 56 night-elf druid. Killed the 2 mobs in the tower. Having killed those two mobs, the "death wail result" mobs came at me, and left me with half health (I had to summon some treant friends to help slay them whilst I healed myself) and next to no mana. Went inside to drink and eat.

Haha, how silly of me. ^^ I died very quickly when the three mobs attacked me.

After those were slain, I waited, then ate and drank. Got up the tower, and clicked on the thing that looks like a sea anenome, and was swiftly slapped around my 2 mobs. Killed one, rejoiced, started on the next. A third one spawned. I thought "screw it" turned around and spam-clicked the anenome, and ended up with goo.

Anyways, so I killed the second one (eventually) and turned to the last one. Or so I thought, as a fourth promptly popped in for a little taste of druid tears. When I finally killed that, I looted them all, skinned them all, and didn't jump off. Nay, I ran back down on my big kitty cat and got RAPED by the respawned three mobs at the bottom.

/Sigh.

Just to echo a posting from way back, this is the dumbest frickin' quest. Apparently, I got into the tower after someone else cleared the wasp drones as I didn't have to mess with them. I ran in on my horse and went straight up the ramp without aggro'ing the spirits. Got to the top and had to clear the wasps there - no big deal. Found the sack, looted it and was immediately attacked. When I got close to killing that wasp, another appeared. Didn't think about looting the first wasp (after all, who would) but immediately went to work on the second wasp. When it was almost dead, a third appeared, then a fourth, then a fifth. By the sixth wasp, I was dead. When in a battle with multiple mob, who ever kills one and then loots, kills one and loots, etc..? I finally checked wowhead and figured it out. Finished it, jumped over the side, and now I am here saying that is the dumbest frickin' quest of the 900+ that I have done.

Solo'd as a 57 Demon-wrangling Warlock. Here's the skinny:
1) Two Sentinals inside seemed no prob, even if they produced the Wasps, my Felguard was ready. He was doing fine while I stayed outside dropping DoT's. I ran inside once I was sure he was holding aggro, and 3 wasps appeared.
2) I said and ran back outside, but was followed by the new wasps. Felguard killed the sentinals, which both produced Wasps. FG was running out of mana, I was dropping lifetaps and Drainlife trying to keep up, but couldn't get FG to pull them off me. I died.
3) Immediately soulstoned and started to resummon FG, but decided to call in the Voidwalker. Ate a cheese and watched the wasps congregate inside the tower.
4) Sent in VW, who held aggro and I let him do all the talking; I just kept him healed. Took a while, but the wasps died.
5)Ran up the ramp, activated the goo, and let the VW chew on the 2 new wasps. Not sure when I got the goo-covered book. All the simulated bugs flying around can be kinda stressful.
6)Halfway down the ramp, was met by a respawned Druid. VW stayed on ramp, I ran out the front door. Called VW outside, and took on the Druid. Soon, the second druid respawned. Both cast Heal and DoT's. Painful! Both produced Wasps, but VW held aggro perfectly.
7) Ran out of town and rested with a refreshing soft-drink and more cheese.

After reading the posts here I can only say I wish I had known what to expect; my tactics wouldn't have changed much. I know it is do-able as a solo, though painful, and just an exercise in making use of your class abilities to their fullest. Can't imagine trying this as another class yet, one without a pet to take the heat off me.

As an aside, I just wish to express my hatred of all things insect-like in this game. When I was but a young warlock, fresh out of the mausoleum, I took nearly a dozen steps into Western Plaguelands looking for adventure. I died 3 times by freakish spiders trying to scramble my way back out. Took another 50 lvls before I was willing to go back. {shudder}. I Hate spiders!

This is a horrible quest and I am glad it is over. I had to turn the sound off just to get away from that constant buzzing.

I soled with a 56 Druid Night Elf. Used the Treants at the bottom to give me time to get up the stairs almost to the top before dying.

Rezzed and returned up the steps where I claimed my body. Again used Treants at the top and recovered the items. As a Druid I dropped to cat form and went over the edge with barely any damage. Then stealthed out.

The top is crowded and hard to see. Once I fell off the edge. Be careful and be precise - you will do fine.

um you are at the wrong tower. the one you want is inside the village (no elites there). its just a tower-building. you can see it from the mini-wirl around it (not that big as the one with the elites)

a couple of ghosts in the bottom , you go up , there is a strange thing , open it , get goo. 2 wasps will spawn , kill one, get the Q item, jump down and you are good to go :)

In my experience, theres always been a huge mob at the base of the tower that will kill anyone solo. 3 Night Elves + 1-3 insects upon death = 6-12 mobs at once. No thanks.

Just run in, die, and res up at the top of the tower. Loot goo, kill the 2 insects that spawn, get quest item, done.

After you interact with the hive thing on the top of the tower, you are not done!

Two wasps will spawn. DON'T RUN! Kill one of them and loot it fast. Then you can run or whatever. But that loot is your quest item...not the first thing you got from the hive.

The reason to get naked is of course to avoid breakage on equipment when you die.
It is also important to res out of aggro range from both groups of mobs. Midway up should do it.

And one more thing; I had a quite large mana pool for my level, which came in handy as the insects 3 lvls above you are quite resistant.

Sacrifice pet to mobs at bottom of tower while you run to top, then Feign Death.
Rez pet, set on passive, lay ice trap next to pod, open pod.

It will most likely spawn 2 mobs at first. Ice trap catches one, sic pet on the other and start hitting/shooting the same one. Kill it, loot quest item. Sic pet on second mob, jump off the tower, run out of range and your pet will disappear before getting killed.

Okay, i just did it easely, but you have to die at least 1 time (2x for me perhaps for a bad move).

Soulstone yourself, summon WV, mount and get in the place. Head for the tower and dont stop.
Run up to the stairs and stick in a corner and...yeah wait to die.

Let the bugs go away.

Rez, summon again VW, and get full mana and health back.

Loot the thingny, 2 spawns will pop. Kill one, loot the quest item then jump down the tower (dying again).

Get back to corpse, rez, mount, get out. :)

Note:
I thought that i could just kill them both but it seems they keep on spawning. I should have sacrificed the VW prior to jump down... maybe i Wouldnt have died.

If you're a lock, try this and it will work just as I said. Happy hunting :P

Read earlier that a 55 warlock soloed this quest, after having done it myself I think that that's pretty much impossible.

Anyway, after wiping about 6 times trying to do this one I found what I think is a foolproof warlock tactic. It goes as follows:

1. Make sure you have a soulstone active on yourself.
2. Set your Voidwalker to tank all of the mobs at the bottom of the tower.
3. Run into the tower and up the ramp whilst this is happening.
4. Add will spawn, sacrifice and keep running as far up as possible.
5. Once you reach the top of the tower you'll either be pretty much dead or getting that way fast. Let me kill you and don't touch the hive at the top.
6. Once you die, let the adds lose agro and return to the bottom of the tower. Now use your soulstone, summon voidwalker, demon armour, drink, etc.
7. Activate the hive.
8. Kill one of the spawning mobs whilst having your voidwalker tank.
9. Loot the mob and get the quest item.
10. Sacrifice the voidwalker and jump from the top of the tower.
11. RUN!

That should pretty much do it, can't really imagine that failing for anyone as it's all fairly easy.

Use your talents warlock, they are powerful in their own right ; )

Lamest quest idea ever.

"Yeah, there's this giant wasp nest inside that tower over there. Smack it was a stick a coupla times, get 'em all agitated, and come back and tell me what happens. Oh, and bring me anything unusual you find in the process."

Yeah, I'm full of stinger-holes retard, THAT's what happened. You don't have to be an effing nature freak DRUID to konw that's what wasps do when you piss them off.

The strange thing I found is what I think is part of my SPLEEN. Thanks for the quest.

The tower is on (60,52) in Silithus. If u look from far away to inside Tower u wont see 3 invisible mobs (Hive Ashi Drones)(not elite but they hit hard). Just run into tower without any cloths, ress upstars, and there open one clickable item in the corner (Hive Ashi Pod)... in this moment two Ambushers will spawn there. U have to fight there and not to fall down. For me, quest item was't in the Pod, it was a drop from Ambushers! So u need to kill them, at least one. Inside Pod was another quest item: "Silithid Goo"

I'm rogue so i didnt have to run in and die. but all u need is to get the Silthid Goo, and then 2 or 3 mobs spawn.. Kill one of them, and loot, then u can just jump down from the tower and run. Worked for me

Solo'd the Undead, and survived the spawn. Holy spec'd w/ BOW, Seal of Wisdom, Seal of Light, used Mark of Resolution, and no potions. Got goo from pod, then jumped..lol now i have to go up and do it again to get the encrusted object

Not too difficult. Stealthed up the stairs, took the goo, and vanished when the two mobs spawned. snuck around, ambushed one of the bugs (I made a critical), evasion rose up my combo points, CB+ 5-point eviscerate, looted the thing, jumped down, and sprinted to the exit. Nearly dead, but I managed to get away alive. If you have that trinket from the quest in Western Plaguelands, it's good to activate when you're fleeing from Southwind.

For druids, the trickiest part is to get past the drone that hovers on the ramp just above the floor level. You don't see him until he sees you. The secret is to freeze in place until he loses interest and turns his back.

Once at the top, I found it easy to defeat one of the spawns, but quickly learned that they will keep spawning forever if you stay around. This is a situation in which battle loot is possible, so just kill the nearest bug, loot it, go back to cat and jump.

Pretty easy, really.

I'm a 58 Druid. Simple as this:
- Stealth in as far as possible (coords are 60, 51 as stated above)
- probably get tagged immediately by about 3 bugs, keep running up the stairs a bit and die.
- come back to that spot and res. No aggro, so you can heal, buff and stealth.
-continue to the top and loot the goo. A couple of bugs spawn. Focus on and kill one. Loot it. You'll get what you need. Futile to try to take them all out as they keep respawning from the nest.
-cat form, jump off tower and haul ass.
-quest done. 6000 XP.

I soloed this quest line at lvl 54 feral druid.
It was worth it I made over 20000xp and over 350 cenerion rep.
Did as I had read, ran into tower naked, died on stairs, rezzed, focused on killing lower lvl bug and keeping healed, looted changed to cat jumped and halled ass.

You will have to go to (60,52). Go into into the high tower with the wasps surrounding it. You will see it no matter what.

What i did: If there are no one questing in the area, there are standing 2 Tortured Sentinels around the entrance. Clear a bit of the area so you can kill them. As a 55 Mage, after clearing some space, i killed one of the Sentinels and the following Silthid 'wasp' that sometimes spawn when you kill the tortured mobs around the area (they are both pulled). Then i got out of combat, then came back and killed the other one (the silithid didnt spawn that time).

Then you should take off all your equipment(if you dont have so much bag space you can leave some of the high stamina gear on you - and remember to keep 2 bag spots free so you can loot the quest items)

Go in to the tower, put on your shields or what you've got (blessing of naruu etc), walk through the three invisible Silithid Drones that attack you. Run to the top. If you can, maybe try to loot the Silithid Goo from they gooey thing you can press on, otherwise just die. Rescurrect your corpse a little lower on the stairs so you aren't too close to any of the mobs and can buff yourself up.

Take on your gear again and go to roof. Try to kill ONE of the silithids! If you can kill them all then do that, but otherwise just loot the quest item from the dead silithid and jump down if you have enough HP (youll get around 800-900 damage from jumping down).

The 2 quest items i am talking about is
1. The quest item you need to complete the quest(dropped from one of the silithids)
2. The Siltihud Goo... Which i don't know where you can turn in - but its a quest item xD

These are my talents that affect AoE. The other frost talents you probably may already have, as shatter, ice shards, etc. are 'must-have' talents

1/3 Improved Blizzard
0/3 Permafrost
3/3 Frostbite
2/2 Improved Frost Nova
1/1 Ice Barrier

If you are specced 3/3 Improved Blizzard, 3/3 Permafrost, and 0/3 Frostbite, you will have an extremely easy time. Basically this is what I did.

Step 1. Put Ice Barrier on
Step 2. Aggro the three insects that spawn at the base of the tower
Step 3. Frost Nova them, step back 8 yards or so and start to AoE. The reason I don't go all the way back is to prevent aggroing other mobs, and because I am specced into Frostbite, it will mess up my control.
Step 4. Once Blizzard stops, or is interrupted, kite the mobs around while spamming Arcane Explosion. They should have chewed through your Ice Barrier, and got you to approx 70% health.
Step 5. By that time, your Frost Nova cooldown should be up. The mobs should be at around 600 hp. Finish them off by Novaing them in place and Arcane Explosion/Blizzard.

Repeat this for the top floor.

Yes it is the tower with the bugs flying around it, at the top is something you can loot, once you do that you 2 ambushers will spawn, kill them to get the current quest item, and if you have the silithis goo its for a quest in moonglade. easily solo'd as a frost mage at 57, just summon your water elemental and have him tank.

Im Warrior Lvl55 - armfull

The solution is in the upper text. I tried that and succeed!

1° First, I run into the tower (Up as I can) and i died. This is the first step.

2° I return there to resurect in the tower at the top.

3° I recovered all my health points.

4° I opened the pouch on the top of the tower.

5° Two insects appeared. I started the fight focusing on the first one insect.

6 - When the insect that I focused on become weaker - I feared the second one.

7 - I killed the insect that i was focused on and loot it fast and quickly. After - i jumped down and run faster that i can - out of the Village.

N.B.: I used a major healing potion during the combat (when i feared the insect). Also I take a Swiftness Potion to run out. ;-)

I didnt print screen but thrust in yourself and you will have success!

I was not in the mood to die for another quest so I delayed this until I was a 57 Warlock. It would have been very doable at a lower level.

Nothing fancy:

VW pet
I had to take out three tortured before the tower
Don't let life/mana get too low because you'll have spawns to deal with
Make sure full health/mana/shield before trying to enter the castle
Several Wasps are invisible right inside the doorway. Seems like 5.
DOT as many as you can
Cast Howl of Terror
Recall your VW. Don't let him follow the mobs. That prevents adds.
Steal mana from VW
Bandage up
Drain Life from one wasp at a time. Be patient. They will all die.
Cast Fear as necessary
Walk to top of tower
Top off health/mana/shield as necessary
Open thingy
Kill two wasp spawns
Loot
Jump off tower facing the road. No mobs there.
Mount
Escape through crack in back wall

I solo'd, got my but kicked in the base, res'd at the top of the tower where there are no bugs ate and drank, grabbed the goo, killed the bugs, grabbed the encrusted object and bailed out of the tower.

It's pretty easy to get to the tower without any aggro, assuming you have fade and are good at using it.

1. there are two undead at the bottom of the tower, shackle one (doesn't matter which)and kill the other. wait for mana/health and then kill the other.
2. at this point you have two options, you can go in and try to fight the three wasps OR try to get as high as you can, die, and then respawn with no aggro.

If you are going to kill them, i recomend throwing all DoTs including vampiric embrace on one (doesn't work for holy/disc)just focus your attacks on the single bug.

make sure to shield while casting too. once your health gets low; cast a fear and heal yourself, by then you should have one down. repeat the strategy and the battle should be yours. I had to use my desperate prayer while fighting the third one, so make sure you have that and/or a potion ready.

3. once you get to the top you'll see a pod on the floor. open the pod and kill one of the bugs that appear which should be easy as they are only lvl 56 and don't do much damage. loot the corpse, fear, and then jump (with levitate) out of the east window.

tricky quest for a priest, but it's definitely worth the xp in the end

I did this easy as a 56 resto Druid.

Sneaked into the city, and into the tower. Wasps spawned, lose stealth and ran up tower. Died (like all other peaps before me said).
rezzed at top, rebuffed, eat/drink till full.

Did the bag thing, and 2 wasps spawned. Went Bear and lowered 1 till 3%. Loose Thorns, or else he died of it maybe. Started attacking the other. when 2nd was at 20% i just saved Rage to swipe as soon the 2nd was 5%. both died at the same time and no new spawns.
Looted the thing, and jumped down on the pillar at the side where the stairs were. jumped down on wall ( whatever theres left off ), and walked away.
Mounted and turned in q.

Easy soloable as resto druid, prob any druid.

they do stop spawning after a while, me (lvl 56 hunter) and a lvl 56 pally did this quest, must have been around 30-40 bugs killed on top of the tower, at the end, we ALL (including bear) had under a quarter hp and no mana for either of us

unfortunately as soon as they stopped spawning their lootable bodies disappeared :( just got the quest item in last one, wasn't rlly much time to go looting during the fighting hehe

Stealthed up to the top... Then got the silithid on me, wasnt sure on the quest so just killed all the bugs that spawned, for me 8 spawned in a row, always 2 at a time attacking, was easy in bearform :D then looted and ran :)

If you plan on looting just one corpse & jumping off the top as a druid dont forget to go catform, you will take a lot less fall damage.

I've done this quest 4 times now. It's easy and great exp. I'd say level 54 is probably the lowest you could manage it.

Something that seems new since the 2.0 patch is that 5 Hive Drones spawm right as you enter the hive tower. Unless you have a group you're going to die without feign death or vanish.

Run to the top. If you don't make it all the way up- just rez at the top and heal up. Loot the object and it spawns the mob you need. Kill one and loot it and jump off the side. If you can handle 2 57 non elites then just kill them both.

Easy quest. Around 13000 xp and decent green ring.

ok so i was soo confused about what all these people were saying so i decided to tell u the simplest way possible:

1. go to southwind villiage

2. go into the tower to the right as you enter the villiage (co-ords 60,53)

3. inside is a druid and enforcer if u attack 5 bees will spawn if u have a pet let the pet take them and run up the tower.

4. If you die, come back and ress at the top of the tower.

5. open up the hive and 2 bees will spawn, you do not need the goo from the hive, kill one of the bees and get the encrusted object and your done!

Great instructions below. 55 Druid, tried stealthing in got caught, ran up the staircase and died halway up. Rez'd open hive killed a bee and took the object. Word of warning though, killed one bee and started on the second thinking i could kill em both, then another spawned behind me... Highly suggest the smash and grab approach, just loot and jump off the tower.

First off, it's a tower IN the town. If you're fighting through a tower of elite bugs, you're in the wrong place.

There's a tortured druid and sentinel at the bottom of the tower, just try and draw them out of the tower and kill them outside, because if you just run in, three bugs spawn to defend their hive and suddenly you've got five mobs on you--which, if you're like me and are soloing this quest, isn't good.

One you've killed the tortured night elves, run in and spawn the three bugs and kill them, which shouldn't be too tough if you're level 60. They're level 55-56 or so, non-elite.

Run to the top of the tower and open a sack that's sitting there. Loot the item called "Silithid Ooze" and two level 57 bugs will spawn on you. They seem to spawn continuously--once you kill one bug, another spawns shortly thereafter. After each kill, loot their corpse to see if they had the Encrusted Silithid Object. Once one of them drops it, just run the hell out of there, don't bother to finish off the mobs. I killed eight bugs up there and just got tired of it; I don't know if there's a limit to their spawning.

Bring the object back to Layo Starstrike and he'll send you to Moonglade, which is where you'll receive your reward.

this q was pretty confusing i went left instead of right,
then i got to the top looted the silithid goo and forgot to kill the beez died on the way down rezed helf way up and killed the bee i needed n carried on killing till my pots cooldown time ran out......about 5 or 6 beez spawned

was preetttty easy to handle as 58 BM hunter just let pat take the aggro n kill the 1 its killin always the easiest way then feign death if u get aggro off others

After you loot the thing at the top of the swarmed tower you have to kill the Hive'Ashi Ambushers and one of them drops the Encrusted Silithid Object.

I'm not sure what the Silithid Goo is used for that is found in the Hive'Ashi Pod.

First when you enter the town the tower is to the right. Right when you enter.
Before you enter the town mount run straight to the tower, run up till you get to the top of the tower and let them kill you. Them would be the two druids and 3 bugs at the bottom of the tower. Then run back to your body and res. buff if needed. Then open the basket and 2 lvl 56s will spawn, you only need to kill one of them. Loot him then jump off the side of the tower and run out. Very Easy! I soloed it with a lvl 55 priest.

As a hunter I ran as fast as i could (without aspect of the cheeta for stun reasons) as far up the ramp as I could without dying then Feign Death. Waited for agro to leave then stood up, bandaged myself and summoned pet. Got the goo and decided to kill a few just in case the first one didn't drop it =). Jumped off the ledge and ran home.

BTW I was lvl 56

Here's what I did as a lvl 58 rogue.

I threw a distract into there for the NE, but as soon as I set foot in there 3 insects spawned. One of them spawns right on the ramp. I went ahead and started running all the way up the tower. When I reached the top, I vanished, dropping all the aggro.

I let Vanish cool down, then proceeded to open the pod. After opening it, two ambushers spawn. I killed one, looted the quest object from it, then Vanished again before walking to the edge of the tower. Another insect quickly respawned.

Jumped from the tower and rode off.

Did this as a 60 Tauren Warrior. In addition to everything else that has been said the Silithid spawns are infinite. I put on all the HP/5 gear I had and sat on Shield Block once I had taken the Goo and fought for a good hour.

The first bug drops the Object, so just grab it and run. Completion gives 100 Cenarion Circle rep.

As a level 58 shadow priest, I died 4 times doing this quest. The sheer amount of mobs that spawn mean that it *should* be marked as a group quest.

When you click the Pod at the top of the tower, be prepared for 5x 58 non-elites to spawn and attack you.

Sneak into town as a kitty via the main road - tower is the one on the right with all the bugs flying around the top.

Sneak into tower and hug left wall - keep moving and you wont agro anything.

Once at the top, open the chest - you'll receive some kind of goo and two or three bugs will spawn - change back to kitty form and jump off the tower, then run back to the road till you're out of combat.

Heal up and sneak back in again - the bugs will be at top of tower still - backstab the nearst one and tear it to peices then loot it imediately - it will have the shell you need - jump off the tower again and you're set,

heh....

all i did was throw a distract in there to make the night elves turn around... was gonna try and sneak by... the distract by itself spawned the 3 bugs.

You CAN still pull the elves out without the bugs even after they spawn, however. But forget about stealthing past, one of them is positioned right on the stairs and doesn't move.

Oh and by the way this quest is also available to Horde even tho it just says alliance

Do not try to kill all the mobs. I don't know how many mobs spawned for sure, but my husband and I could not find the end of the spawns. We are 58 warlocks, and we probably killed between 10 and 15 bugs before we both died. When we came back, we looted the quest piece off the first bug that spawned then jumped off the tower. We did have to start over, however, since the bodies despawned while we were dead.

Also, we are horde and we got this quest so it should be marked Both.

Soloed as 56 Warrior.

Did the "die 'n rez" thing halfway up. Ran in without bothering to fight. I knew I was going to die, so I kept the damage low as possible for cheaper repair bill.

Killed the two Wasps, got the object. Waited until I was full health and then looted the Goo. I then jumped off the tower on side nearest entrance. Jumping off took me down to about 10-20% health with 3800 health so it hurts.

Ran out with a train and maybe took two hits before they broke off.

Hi hi!

I solo'd this as a 59 Warrior. Not good. The respawn rate was faster than I could kill them. So I took the cheesy way out: I ran to the top of the tower, then died and rezzed. I grabbed the Goo and got lucky, first kill gave me the encrusted object. I jumped off the NORTH side of the Tower - an easy fall with less than moderate damage. The gate was right in front of me, so I took off down the road.

If you are a stealth rogue you can just go past the first three bugs, kill one of the two that spawns and then use Vanish while you have half health.

Completed this at level 56 without dieing.

Rogues: Don't know if you need Master of Deception, but I snuck into the entrance, thus spawning the Drones, without aggroing them. I just walked up to the top no problem at level 57.

Once at the top, I opened the bag, spawning 2 Ambushers. Like the priest mentions below, you just have to kill one. Use Evasion, kill one quickly, loot the item, then get the heck outta there before more spawn. Jump, Vanish on the ramp, anything. Worked like a charm for me.

I'm a 56 mage with engineering and here's what I did:
Gnomish Cloaking device past everything downstairs. It lasts 10 seconds so I got far enough up the winding ramp that no aggro occurred. At the top I opened the pod, blew apart one bug as fast as I could to loot it, and then jumped off the tower and light feathered my way to freedom.
20 seconds, tops. =)

You reach the top how you can... sneaking (but you need a high lvl - 57 seem to be the lowest) or die and resp mid-stairs. Stirr the wasps, and jump from atop... You (if druid or priest or such) have some time to heal an prep - 5 sec or so... and the two guards will fly after you... down at the bottom of the tower... kill them both and take what you need:))

Firstly, this is available to Horde as well, currently it is listed as Alliance only.

From a level 58 rogue's perspective.

Drew out the NEs, blade flurry, vanished once the drones popped out of the ground.

No chance of stealthing past as one of my three drones spawned on the ramp, and great placement of the hive at the base of the ramp--nicely impedes line of sight. I ran up a bit, popped evasion and blade flurry. Had about 800 hp left after all three died. No interesting loot.

Made my way up the ramp, opened the sack, popped blade flurry again on the Ambushers. Killed both, jumped and hit sprint then vanish. Was left with 125 hp after the jump--started off with 3030 hp and 1284 ac so others can compare and calculate their chances. =p

ok folks you dont have to die to do this quest...well....if youre a pally you dont.

here it goes. 57 pally. devo aura, blessing of might gears not too fancy. hybrid build 13/18/17

go up to the tower, pull the druid with exorsism, the bugs wont aggro. get the druid down to where he wants to heal himslef then hammer of justice/exorsism again/seal of command(or righteousness) judgement should finish him off, if not throw in a hammer of wrath for good measure, you should have enough health/mana that the sentinel isnt a problem. next the bugs, fight the first(preferably the weakest) all out damage this means constant judgements on your damage seal etc etc...once hes down start on the second bug, once youre at 5% health or so bubble and heal, you should be low on mana now but finishing the second bug judgementless should prove too hard. during the third bug seal of light and just hack away, itll take awhile but the health you gain form the seal should keep you going. then bam you win. drink eat be merry.

phase two. get to the top of the tower open the dang thing. two spawn. fight em. if you cant take on two by yourself theres nothing i can do to help you...figure it out. then do what pallys do best. bubble, loot jump to the bottom of the tower and high tail it outta there. i did it second try. the first time i ran into the tower willy nilly like a dofus. hope this helps all you protectors of the light out there...

For a lvl 57 priest it was rough, but here is a hint;

- use invisibility potion to pass 1st two guards, run to the top of the tower
- loot that thing in corner, and some bugs will spawn
- kill one of them asap, loot it, fear off others
- (heal up before) jump down and run as hell :)

It seems that you only need to open the pod to get the silithid to spawn and item drop you need, NOT pick up the goo from the pod! Apparently as long as you have the goo in your inventory it'll keep attracting silithid until there's enough to kill two level 58 warlocks (in other words, infinitely).

I was with a group that was one step ahead of me in the chain, so I helped them do the quest and they did it right. I however did not understand what I wasn't suppsoed to do so I looted the pod and...yeah. TONS o' spawns.

In short: open the pod, don't loot the goo (and don't be fooled by that 'quest item' tag).

I am a 57 mage and I was killed pretty much straight away so I went back to rez and decided to climb to top of tower to check it out and was able to rez right next to box. I drank and ate pulling nothing then click on the mound the two bees sprung forward i killed and looted the item and jump off the side of the tower and ran :)
Easy. Would have died a million times any other way i think

Thanks Rualkris for the write-up, it was very usefull. Thats worth a 5 rating.

The quest is VERY hard to solo, and i did it with a 59 rogue. As you walk into the tower, 3 drones spawn, and they tear you apart. When you get to the top, a spongy mound of goo opens, and gives you a fake quest reward. The real quest reward drops off the Ambushers that spawn. Be carefull though. Im not sure if it was bugged for me, but when i killed one, another spawned right after it, forcing me to jump out the window.

As with the quest before this, take a friend with you, its not a very easy solo quest, even if you are much higher.

As a tauren horde i just got this quest off from Layo Starstrike in Valor's Rest.

58 Tauren Druid (feral/resto) with 5 points in improved stealth.

Entered the tower, 3 sillithid popped. Got next to the one on the stairs, it alerted, waited 'til it faced door again and snuck right under it's ass hugging the wall w/ no aggro. At the top grabbed the item, killed one of the bugs, looted, and ran off N side and into the sunset.

Warlocks, this might be a bit difficult at 56, but heres a strategy. Pull the Sentinal with your wand, then have your voidwalker tank. Kill those two mobs, then step into the tower. When the 3 bugs spawn, have your Voidwalker aggro them, and run to the top of the tower. Sacrifice the voidwalker, and the bugs should de-aggro at the bottom. Then, summon your voidwalker again and loot the thing. Have your void tank and kill a bug, then get the object. After, shield up and run like hell.

I found if you pull the druids out of the tower the other 3 bugs don't appear until you actualy walk into the tower, of course when you kill one usually another bug pops.

AS a 57 rogue this was not that difficult, I stealthed in clicked the hive. 2 bugs popped out. I blinded one and killed the other looted the dead one got the encrusted silithis and used flash powder and stealthed out.

This is great!

I just soloed this as a 55 Paladin. I ran to the top of the tower and died. I rez'd, shielded, healed, then fought the two spawns at the top. Killed one and looted the object on the first try!

Cast blessing of protection and jumped...then landed in one of the small hives at the bottom! I was stuck, couldn't jump, run or anything else to get out...

The mobs from the top flew down and killed me but i was laughing too hard to care...

60,53 for the tower.

I couldn't stealth all the way in, one of the bugs was on the ramp leading up and you can't get by without aggro. Just run up, vanish, loot the object, two bugs spawn and blade flurry etc etc. Butter for a rogue......

You don't even have to open the pod. I'm a level 57 warrior with no special tricks, so I had to do the die-'n'-rez route.

Got up there, killed one ambusher, almost got the other, but he was instantly joined by another ambusher. Came back as ghost, rezzed, looted first ambusher's corpse -- he had encrusted object. Jumped off side, died.

Good thing the graveyard is so close to this !@#$%! Quest completed.

Just completed this quest as a 54 Demonology Warlock. I sent the VW into the tower, and killed both the mobs there, but then when the bugs spawned I knew I wasn't going to make it so I sac'd and tried running up the stairs as far as I could before they took me down. Used soulstone and rez'd right there, resummoned VW and went to top. Clicked on the thing to click on, and killed the two bugs and looted the quest object.

On the way back down the stairs I ran into the same bugs that killed me before...let the VW hold aggro while I ran out, then sac'd him to shield me as I continued to run run run away.

So...died once on the way in/up the tower, and that was it.

Total XP was ridiculously high. After this it is just going to the questgiver, then back up to Moonglade. 4 quick turn-ins total. First stage was 8,750, Second was 4,350, Third was 10,900, Fourth was 4,350. Soo...over 28,000 for this quest. Not bad.

Oh...the ring isn't bad either.

FYI, they stopped spawning for us now as soon as all in the party had gotten their items. Possibly fixed in 1.5 then.

Note: There are more than 2 mobs that spawn at the top of the tower. Only 2 spawn initially but when you kill one another will spawn. Make sure to loot the first one you kill then try to get out of there. Or just bring a group, since that is obviously how this quest is intended to be completed.

I died killing the 4th spawn, so there may be even more than that.

Make sure you are soul stoned. Send in VW to aggro the two tortured druids/sentinels. Then run upstairs real fast. A big bug may/may not follow you. Die at the top then rez. Loot and then jump down. You may/maynot die at that point too. But at least you got it and pretty fast.

Did this as a 57 warrior.

Got on my ram, and ran like hell into the compound and up the tower as far as I could. Died. When I retrieved my body, I went to the top of the tower, healed up, opened the pod. When the hive defenders came out I used intimidating shout, defeated and looted the targeted mob, jumped down from the top of the tower died again, but got my encrusted silithid object.

After killing countless of the spawns I worked out how to finish them - it seems that when you get down to one, after a little while another will spawn. So by switching targets, when you finish one the other will be almost dead. Kill that one quickly, and that way the next respawn doesn't happen.

I haven't read ever comment, but the first dozen or so top rated don't mention it.
There IS a limit. They stop spawning if you kill them within 5 seconds of eachother.

Looting the box at the top of the tower sounds like the answer to this quest, but it's not.
Once you've looted the box, bugs will spawn as long as you have "Silithid Goo" in your bags.
My suggestion is this - loot the box, jump out of the tower, and get beyond the gate - at least one bug will follow you, but you won't cause any more spawns since you're not by the chest any more. Kill at least one bug, loot it, and you're good to go.

Note that the base of the tower may not be empty. On two characters I've played so far in Classic, I found that the bast of the tower had two sentinels in it, and after those were killed (I pulled them out of the tower base to kill), three silithids had spawned in the base (this is not the normal "disturbed a nearby nest" as the spawn was not where the sentinels died). Depending on how recently someone else may have attempted the quest, you may also find bugs in the top of the tower.

The mobs spawned by looting the box have a small chance to drop Silithid Carapace Fragment.

Our data indicates it was single digit percents, probably as low as 1-2% drop chance.

If you're looking for an ancillary spot to farm your Silithid Carapace Fragments on a VERY competitive server, this isn't a horrible option, but the elites at the hives are still very much your best drop rate.

You don't actually need to loot the goo. It's there to mark you so the bugs follow you. They'll spawn when you open the box. Just kill one, loot it, and if you can, jump from the tower by the corner OPPOSITE the box. it will put you outside the town walls if you survive (druid cat form with feline grace takes damage but survives). Even if you die you got it and can just res either back at your body or at the graveyard.

Didn't read the comments and ran straight into the tower on my 58 lock with voidwalker. Died fast. Very fast. I think one of the bugs poison stingers went so far up my backside, it quenched my thirst.

Forgot to soulstone because I'm obviously not a very good lock, but that allowed my ghost to run up the ramp, near the top of the tower, and rez without fighting anything. Resummoned my voidwalker, looted the bug potato at the top of the tower, killed and looted one bug that spawned, which gave me the quest item, and jumped off the tower, running as fast as my bony undead butt could go, to turn in the quest and lick my wounds. My first aid is not high enough to mend my pride :(

Stupid #$%^ing quest. What the Hell is the goo for? It's a quest item. You're told to "jostle the nest and collect anything" Doesn't count though, you have to kill one of the spawned mobs for the item. Mobs swarm the bottom. Sometimes there are already spawned mobs up top. If you're squishy, you're screwed. Not even listed as a party quest ==

As a hunter I had to dismiss my pet, run in to the top of the tower, and feign death to despawn all the mobs from down stairs. Now, if the ones up top hadn't already been spawned, I would have summoned my pet, and get ready - but nope. So I had to drop a trap, and summon, one of the mobs hitting me while summoning, then batter the damned thing with my axes coz distance, until my pet decided it should help out.

Stupidly it freed up the frozen one first, so I got tag-teamed until one finally died, grabbed the item and tried to feign death again, but died first. After an annoyingly long walk back I res'd at the bottom of the tower on the back-side, mounted and #$%^ed off.

Stupid quest...

Couldn't figure out how to pick off these guys one at a time; you either aggro 4/5 or none. Burned through a bunch of potions and then thought... this is stupid. Maybe there is a secret way to do this but I'm not trying to get a PhD in tricky quests, I'm just trying to have some fun. The Time-Constrained Player just can't waste this amount of time.

The only good thing about a terminal disease is that it forces you to focus on measuring your remaining time very carefully. Just like gas in the tank.

Running out in a bad place could be a terminal event and surely makes you eligible for the annual "unable to plan ahead further than five minutes" award.

Hive in the Tower

Scale the tower of Southwind Village and locate a means to stir the silithid hive into activity. Bring back anything unusual you may uncover when doing so to Layo Starstrike at the Valor's Rest graveyard of Silithus.

	Encrusted Silithid Object (1)

Description

The hive needs to be addressed in Southwind Village, and I think I know a way to get at them. It's been my experience that the silithid hives are very sensitive to their environment; this explains their attacks when hearing the death wails of the spirits.

The silithid are strongest in the tower - the one with the mass of wasps circling it. Scale the tower and jostle the hive into activity. Report back what you learn, but be careful! If you uncover anything that might help, bring it to me.
