This is the third and final boss encounter of Auchindoun: Mana Tombs. He's a lot harder than the previous two, so don't slack off. He starts off with two Ethereal orb non elite mobs and will spawn more at certain intervals throughout the fight --- kill them asap. Near the end of the fight/when he dies he will spawn Ethereal Apprentices, these need to be killed right away as well -- they're caster-like in nature. This is a very fun fight, but it can get hectic if you're not careful.

Last boss in Auchindoan Mana-Tombs. The fight is him and 3 etheral essences, which are humanoids, but immune to any form of crown control. It's recommended to have at least a level 64 tank, to use spell reflect as he is all magic damage.

We had 2 hunters pet tank 2 of the essences and kill them all one at a time. After they die, they turn into another form, who pump out high damage but are very squishy. Wipe the 3 of these, and then focus on the boss. He'll spawn more as the fight goes on, burn them down as they pop up. Make sure DPS self heals, and all healing stays on tank. It's a fun fight, and the first challenging instance in the outlands.

Took him with 2 Warlocks, Warrior, Rogue, and Druid.

He starts out with 3 adds. You need to kill the adds ASAP as they spawn casters if you don't. When you kill the Adds you DPS down the Prince. He will periodically spawn adds (~15 seconds), and casts a full repertoire of spells. Tank was using Spell Reflect every time it was ready. Rogues are able to Cloak of Shadows out of his frost nova.

ModX said it well. This fight is all about killing the beacons as fast as possible so they do not spawn caster adds. If you can consistently kill the beacons within 5-10 seconds after they spawn, no casters spawn and this is an easy fight. Make sure to kill the first three at the same time rather than sequentially.

This fight is incredibly easy if you have a hunter. The prince usually has 2-3 beacons with him before you begin the fight. Have the hunter target and attack a beacon while everyone else waits back at the entrance to Shaffars room. Once the beacons and shaffar aggro the hunter, have them FD. A successful FD will instantly despawn the beacons. At this point you can engage Shaffar alone.
He will continue to summon beacons randomly through the fight, but they are fairly easy to kill.

Abilities:
1.) Mage spells: He casts frostbolt, fireball, and and blink
2.) Summon Ethereal Beacon: He starts with 3, and will spawn another every 10 seconds. They will cast arcane missile. They have few hit points, but if left up long enough they will spawn an elite.

Just killed this boss now thanks to some of the advice above. Noticed he tends to Frost nova and then blink (as you would expect) but you do appear to be able to influence where he blinks.. eventually I had him him blinking from one part to another back and forth, both within striking range.

His casting time on fireball & frostbolt is 1 second so it's pretty hard as a tank to get Spell Reflect off. I wait until he uses his frost nova since he seems to always cast at that time whether or not the nova actually snags your feet. Confirmed last night that the reflected spells do no damage to him (or if it does it isn't shown) but they do save the tank from ~1500 damage.

We're working on him on heroic right now, and he's a total nightmare. The adds have significantly more health, and transform into their caster form much faster. As a hunter, I opened aimed shot, auto shot, multishot, then steadyshot spam with pet helping (the fastest dps i can do), and the beacon still transformed at 40% (and full healed).

It seems the only way to kill him is to fear what you can, and focus on him while eating the damage they do. We then wiped on adds, ran back, and finished them off.

We have killed him on heroic few days ago... i must say was realy instane fight... as im healer was a big challange. Never fought that hard encounter as this one is.
The only one working strategy we have foung is completly ignore adds and nuke him down as soon as possible.
i think with Frost and fire protection potions on party will be much easyier but still you need to down him in 2 min so good luck

Very tough on Heroic. If our mage wasn't Frost we think we might have had it. FroMage/Spriest/MS War/Holy Priest/Resto Sham.

Got him to 10% like 3 times but the healing just got insane. Do it before the POM nerf ;x

Heroic:

Spriest, Lock, Mage, Warrior and Holy Paladin.

Warrior tanks boss, tries to atleast, priest/lock/mage went all out. Fearing the adds as they spawned. Got him on first try even thou the warlock managed to die at 40%. Don't know how blizz want's the fight to be but just kill him before the adds kill you and you'll do fine ^

Prot pally, mage, lock, spriest, and resto shaman
All were standing really close to the tank, and went immediately all-out on the boss, when there were too many adds, the mage and lock just AoEd them, and continued to dps him down afterwards.
We had frost resistance totem and fire resistance aura up of course :P
Done it this way with relative ease, still hard, and can't be done with all setup, but maybe it helps a bit.

Oh, on heroic of course :)

What a beast on Heroic. Our group was: prot warrior, marks hunter, fire mage, shadow priest, enh shaman. Priest healed most of the instance but we found the shaman worked better on this fight, because the novas limited his dps on the boss. Tank wore a fair amount of FR gear and after half a dozen tries we got the "just dps him down and ignore the adds" method to work. Overall a very tough boss, one of the toughest heroic bosses I've done yet.

Note: adds don't despawn, you'll have to run back and clear them, but they are pretty easy without the boss.

I'll agree that this boss is very difficult on Heroic.

We found ourselves too light on DPS to fully burn him down, as our group was a Prot warrior tanking, Holy/prot pally, Holy/disc priest, Arcane mage and Destruction warlock. What finally worked for us was to have both pally and priest heal while the 'lock used Seed of Corruption on the boss and DoTs on the boss and adds as well as hopefully killing some beacons before they turned into elites. The used AE now and then to help with adds, but focused on the boss. We tried to all hug the boss to keep everything tight so the seeds and AEs could kill off as many adds as possible but as the fight went on things got spread out and almost went to hell, but we got him down despite losing the priest at the end of the fight.

I doubt that this is so much a good strat for him as it is a way to compensate for a lack of 3 DPSers who could burn him down fast enough. Both burn-down and add killing strats had failed for us so this provided some of the benefits of both.

As a side note, we didn't get killed by the adds after he was down, since their numbers were under control thanks to the warlock's efforts.

On Heroic it's possible to make this an endurance fight with the right setup. We had 2 druids, 1 rogue, 1 holypriest, 1 warlock and everyone just killed the adds until he went oom at which point he was at ~50% hp (by tankdmg and soc) then just burned him. This method worked best for us and seems to be by far the most "secure".
By the way: every add gives 4 rep with consortium :).

just managed to kill this bugger on heroic, group composition was prot pally (me), enh shammy, rogue, frost mage and priest, after several wipes we tried the 'all near tank nuke boss with all you got' strategy and it worked, we died along with boss, but he was down
btw, adds do not despawn, so you will have to kill them after rezzing

Just killed him on Heroic mode. The party was composed by a prot Warrior, a Warlock, a Priest, a Mage, and an Elemental Shaman.

The beacons spawns the adds much faster than on regular mode, so we just ignored them until they turned into adds to dps them and not waste mana half-killing the beacons and still getting the adds with full health.

Tank, priest and warlock were on the boss during the whole time while the shaman (me) and the mage took care of the adds as they spawned from the beacons.

Around 20% everybody zerged the boss. We took him down without any deaths. =)

Also, having a decent fire resistance (from totems or pally aura) makes the fight a lot easier. Frost damage hurts, but it's way easier to sustain than the fire stuff.

So I did heroic Manatombs today. 1st of all it is a much harder than Ramps, BF, SV, Mech and a bit harder than UB/SP. The 1st boss caused a few problems due to some disorganization at the start and the fact we were rolling over the trash initially. I recomend a bit of SR in your weekest slots for him. Second boss is ridiculously easy for a heroic, however don't have any melee dps in front due to arching strikes (cleave) it one shotted our rogue for around 13500dmg we still had no issue taking him out.

So know what you really want to know how hard is Nexus-Prince Shaffar he is hard the only method we found that worked was the fear and burn method.

Druid, Demo lock, Shadow priest, Resto shammie, Rogue
I the druid pulled him into a cubby hole behind him to his right for LOS reasons. we then started the burn popping heroism at 95% the lock feared 1st with priest in between etc. It is really the only way to do it we all survived the death of the Prince but the adds got us at the end we had perhaps 12 left.

Biggest thing if u are looking to down him go with 2 fears really really good dps and preferably an off healer as well Spriests work best as they fear/DPS/ and shadow heal.

We tried the kill the adds as they spawn dps the boss between method. I was taking to much magic dmg from the boss as well as the dps to much dmg from the adds for us to make it work.

You also can't pull him to the escort start room and expect the NPC's to help much. they will help but its L64's beating on a 72 not much happens they don't due much to the adds either. And in the process of getting there about 4 beacons change.

It takes the beacons approx 5 seconds to change and they have about 9k hp.

I have found the easiest way to go about fighting this boss is to all group around the tank.

Strat for normal:
Down the first set of beacons while tank gains agro on nexus-prince, then all concentrate dps on him after beacons are down, have 1-2 burst dps watch out for other beacons which will spawn and burn them down, now the reason why you have everyone group up by the tank is so a mage or warlock can easily aoe down adds if they spawn from beacons. I have had this strategy work every time.

Strat for heroic.
Down the first set of beacons while the tank gains agro on nexus-prince, then all aconcentrate dps on nexus-prince after the first set of beacons are down, after that ignore all beacons and as they spawn into adds use AOE fear from a warrior or a priest to fear the adds while you dps down nexus-prince. After nexus-prince is down you will generally have 8-12 adds up this is generally tricky to down them all with out experiance doing it this way, continue fearing them and just down them one at a time. Even if you wipe on the adds they will despawn and you can still loot prince!

IMO this is the easiest strat for downing this boss.

we let the lock tank the prince what i kinda easy coz hes doing only magic dmg and no melee ;D
me the druid and mage nuked the first 3 adds
then the mage switched to the prince to DPS it me and the druid were killing adds
around 20% we stoped killing adds and we all nuked the boss
He went down prety easy but we were all kara/craft able epic geard

We did this on heroic, pretty tough fought.
Imo, the best is to have a warrior tank the boss and all the adds and nuke down the boss.
We had a warrior, druid, mage, paladin and warlock to do this.

Healing was tough, but with an innervate from the druid and a mana potion, we just killed him as I ran oom.

This is a really hard boss also on normal :S

In oure group we had 68 prot warrior, 33/22 disc/holy priest with +500 healing (lvl 64). 70 rogue (41 sub dunno where he putted the rest of his talents). and a 67 bm hunter and a 65 warlock.

We killed the 3 first add's but we simply couldnt do it :s oure best attemt was on 40 % hp where I (The priest) had to use SS also..

I dont think it helped a lot that oure tank used reck and then went into defensive stance..

anyways I think this is 1 of the hardest bosses also on herioc's :s

did this yesterday (heroic run). first time we tried the "nuke him down as fast as possible" no good, next time we went for his adds. it was so omg uber easy. really no pain at all. resist totems + grounding + ofmg wf that kills his beacon if both wf hits crit. we did this easy as pie.

i advise nuke his adds. when he goes down to 20 nuike him. forget adds. we had to deal with 4 adds when he was dead. not a big deal.

defeated him normal mode and he was quite easy.

Team:(70prot-warrior, 66fury-warrior, 70resto-druid, 65fire-mage, and 70demo-lock)

went strait to nexus and totally ignored the beacons, as soon as they started transforming, first tank feared them, then 2nd warrior feared the, and then lock feared them, by that time we already slayed the boss and took care of those adds.

quiet an easy fight it was... didnt try heroic yet, we'll see how it turns xD

A novel strategy for this boss is to have a prot paladin tank the adds and have a warlock of any spec tank Shaffar by spamming Searing Pain. The paladin can hold solid aggro on the adds and indeed nearly solo them with Consecrate, while the warlock's low armor is irrelevant since Shaffar's damage is entirely magical. My group tried this strategy and met with success.

This fight is downright stupid on Heroic. It's doable, but only with massive coordination and sky high DPS that you're almost certain not to get from a PuG. I've tanked all Heroics in game currently, and i'd rank Shaffar as harder than Kargath and Aeonus on heroic put together.

The bottom line is:

While doable, if this is the daily heroic, don't bother. The repair bills will radically outweigh any gain you get from the 2 Badges and 24.60 gold.

This boss is not a DPS race. It's a slow fight, unlike the previous bosses before him.

If you do not destroy the beacons fast enough you will eventually be overwhelmed with adds.

Just took Shaffar for the first time on our first time through on heroic 5/18/08, one-shotting, zero deaths, using the "slow & steady" Curator-style tactics. Group composition:

Prot pally (16.9k HP buffed; mix T4/T5 badge gear, wearing standard tank gear)
Ele shaman (8400hp, ~880 dmg 24 crit buffed with WoA, ToW totems down)
Frost mage (7800hp, ~700 dmg 25 crit buffed with WoA ToW)
Dest lock with Felhunter (9200hp, ~925 dmg 24 crit buffed with WoA, ToW)
Holy priest (7200hp, ~1814 healing buffed with WoA & Blessing of Kings)

Prot pally was two-boxing the Ele shaman, rigged to CL/LBx3 assist the Dest lock. We did the encounter without heroism which, in restrospect, was pretty dumb, because we didn't need it on Yor, and that guaranteed that Shaffar was a really adrenaline-pumping encounter. As a prot pally, let me say that it was... not pleasant to tank him, y'know, without any real spell resistances built-in. Spell reflect would've been a real beauty to use on Shaffar. To keep aggro used JoL and then alternated Seal of Vengeance (hard to stack with him blinking) and Seal of Righteousness, depending, and then flinging Avenger's Shield whenever it was up. No harm in casting while working on him. If I'd been smart I probably would've thrown a few heals on myself, had more than enough mana coming in.

Real hair-raising fight, so don't be discouraged if it takes you a few tries. This particular group had superb communication/have played together for years, and it was still insane. Had to blow Lay on Hands and tons of Super Mana Potions. All you've gotta do is just survive killing the adds long enough to take his mana to zero; since we were pummeling him any time we had a break in the adds, his health and mana were going down at close to the same rate, although we were getting a little overwhelmed near the end. Lived on healer at ~5% mana, rest of us out, most under 70% health, tank sitting around 30% health, and we still had an apprentice up. Shammies, make sure you save your heroism... prot pallies, feel free to go nuts casting... a few heals on yourself couldn't hurt, since most of the beacon aggro will be flying around beating on your DPS anyway, and Shaffar is going to be casting most of the time. Our priest also used Shadow Fiend almost right off the bat, and made good use of Psychic Scream.

edit: For the first three beacons at the start, we had the shammy go Elemental Mastery-->CL, which nearly blew two of them apart, on top of the pally's simultaneous Avenger's Shield, then one additional shadow/frost bolt polished 'em off.

I want the legs that drop for my druid in heroic and i was looking for a easy way to do this boss. I came across this post on the EU WoW Forum. I haven't tried it yet but will ASAP. If any lock can confirm this please post it about it.

It's a trick only warlocks can do at the Nexus-Prince Shaffar. As you all know in the beginning he has got Ethereal Beacons around him. Now it's our job to make them dissapear! How?
Summon your Eye of Kilrogg, go to the Ethereal Beacons and right click one of them. And *poof* they're gone. These 2 (sometimes 3) won't come back. But during the fight there will come other Beacons.

It Works....Did it last night with two Hunters, Lock,and Healadin. Theres alot of trash in this instance , but sure once you do it a few times and get the hang of it. You can skip alot of mobs.

steps for last boss.

1st - have a warlock in your group
2nd - have the warlock summon the Eye of Kilrogg
3rd - Take the eye next to the three orbs by the boss
4th - the prince should desummon his adds

Note: the prince will still summon more adds as his health gets to be lower but the good part is that you won't have to worry about his starting adds.

I haven't tried it yet but im sure you can do the same with a hunter to despawn the orbs then FD to get out of combat.

I did it with a Prot War in blues/heroic drops, resto shaman in blues/heroic drops with 1000 +healing, shadow priest, and two warlocks (casters were in half blues/half tier 4 level stuff)

They were able to beast the boss down extremely quickly, even though one guy was attacking the adds for a while (and failing to kill them)

I guess Wrath of Air + Bloodlust + Shadow Priest Buffs + Warlocks = Massive Damage

A strange thing occurred in normal. We were a pickup group, all around 64-66ish, and wiped the first 2 times (barely). Then on the third try we were marking the adds, and they were there at first, but then they disappeared leaving just Shaffar. Needless to say we killed him very quickly, but has anyone else had this occur? It was a complete wipe, I was thinking at first someone got luckily and survived leaving just the Prince, but the adds were there at first, then gone.

The easiest way to kill him is just to kill the adds when they spawn, ignore the beacons because it's hard to kill them in time and if you don't kill them within a couple of seconds they spawn full HP adds and you wasted dmg. Get the adds and then nuke the boss for a couple of secs and the adds again. Easy tactic for heroic.

Warlocks, seed of corruption works great here if you can spare the mana. Since you'll have a few people focusing on the boss, it will go off rather quickly (or follow up with a shadowburn, searing pain, w/e).

As has been posted before, good dps will have no problem with the adds. And if the boss is getting low, better to try and CC the adds and tear the boss apart before worrying about the beacons. Just understand that this heroic boss is no joke :D

It's interesting to note that Shaffar is one of the three Nexus-Princes in the game, the other two being Haramad (the leader of the Consortium, who has so many enemies that we don't actuallly get to see him in person) and Nexus-Prince Razaan out in Blade's Edge Mountains.

Judging by what I can see of Ethereal behaviors, it's possible to say the Ethereals are essentially like the Goblins in that their every action is fueled by the pursuit of money, wether legitimately or otherwise (especially otherwise, lookin' at you, Venture Co. NPCs). It wouldn't be much of a stretch of the imagination to say that the Goblin Trade Princes (example, Mogul Razdunk, the leader of the Venture Co.) would be the Azerothian equivalent of the Nexus-Princes.

In short, I wouldn't mind seeing the Ethereals again if Undermine ever becomes accessable, or if possible, seeing a Goblin/Ethereal faction in the future.

There's another "trick" for his adds if you have a hunter in the group - have the hunter shoot Shaffar with a normal shot, then once they all start moving, feign death. The adds despawn and Shaffar is there by his lonesome. Very handy for when you've got to do him on heroic :-)

Doesn't count for Tavarok, hes pullable alone.

I managed to solo his Heroic version after 3 tries on my lv 80 prot pally.
For the 1st and 2nd tries, i tried to burn him down using max SBV and Lay on hands, but as with a few other TBC heroic bosses, Prot's DPS is just not enough. My best record using this method only got him down to 20k health, dying to all the frostbolt and fireball spam.

For my 3rd try, I simply put on my max stam gear, 2 pieces of Frost resist gear and Fire resistance aura. I ended up with 28k health, 130 Fire resist and 170 frost resist. The idea was to simply to survive and get him to OOM (which is one of the strats mentioned on this page)

I focused on killing all adds. Holy shield was dropped from my rotation to maintain sacred shield instead, since you're taking magic dmg only.

He got me down to ard 7k health when he OOMed, then its Ezmode time. He'll start to melee you, feeding your BoSanc. He still regen mana but he'll keep wasting it on more beacons(you should still continue killing the adds to prevent them from building up). You can slowly bring his health down from there on.

btw my health stayed between 7k~10k health for the whole of Ezmode phase due to seal of light so there was no need to use LoH. don't forget that you can bubble and bandage.

Just solo'd in one try on Heroic as an Elemental Shaman (PVP welfare gear + 4 pc t9.5). Difficulty 1/10. Really.

Pop all cooldowns, including Earth Elemental. Burn boss. Chain Lightning and Magma Totem demolish his adds. You won't need a resist totem; Healing Stream is enough. Using Grounding Totem when it's up is not a bad plan, either.

The basic way to defeat this guy is this: assign each of the DPS an orb (marking with a skull, X, and moon is what my group did) and have the tank keep Shaffar busy during that time period, with the healer naturally healing the tank. The orbs only have about 3.5k HP, so any DPS worth their salt should be able to take them down quite quickly.

It is also important to take out the trash in the front of the room before you pull Shaffar, otherwise you're asking for a wipe.

Also be warned: when you actually engage Shaffar, he will become a Blink addict, making it frustrating for the tank to keep a hold of him. What makes this even more annoying is his Frost Nova. A warrior with the Warbringer talent is thus ideal for this encounter. Paladins and death knights are also useful, as they have reasonable ranged capability to hold his aggro while they are immobilized.

Just 3-manned him on Heroic.

It's important here to note the group. I was dps as a 70 feral druid in full Moonglade gear. We had a 70 warrior tank and a 70 resto druid healing. All three of us we wearing only gear we had collected from normal instances - no WotLK gear. So, we were in no way overgeared.

Having read the comments on here, we decided to try the attrition tactic. I used bear form Swipe at the beginning, then switched to cat once we were down to a single add. I spent most of the fight in cat form just dpsing the adds - they were spwning as fast as i could kill them. The tank was likewise on add duty, and so Shaffar was only taking minimal damage. Slowly but surely, his health went down. At the end I was using Maul (glyphed) to take down both the add and Shaffar. Took us 10 minutes, but we did it.

As a group our dps was lacking, but he can definitely be done the long way, as long as your healer has enough mana regen.

His adds give 21 rep each, and will spawn all the time, making him the best way to farm rep if you can tank him and just kill adds. Easy way gaining Exalted in some hours.

And before downrating, just try. Its not for every class, but if you can its awesome.

Lv 66 Elite. Final boss of the Mana Tomb instance.

He has 3 orbs around him, focus fire each, then DPS boss. Rince, repeat.

He will teleport once in a while , and uses mostly shadow/frost spells.

Killed him with a 61 druid, 60 priest, 64 hunter, 63 rogue, and a 65 druid.

He starts with 3 balls around him, assign each ball to a dps clas, i started off with an aimed shot to get them coming at me then the 65 druid taunted the boss off of me, then i multishot and 2 shot the ball i was shooting and the rogue downed his, then we combod the last ball while the druid tanked.

He then spawns the balls 1 by 1 after that and you HAVE to get them down fast or they turn into Ethereal Apprentice who hit for 1000 DMG (the balls otherwise only hit for 160ish which is a joke).

We wiped 2 times and that was the best way to go about it, fight took about 3 minutes total (was able to pop my bladefist breadth twice).

(We let a ball transform at the very end because i was oom and the boss frost nova'd the rogue (he frost nova'd :P), the boss was at 18% so we just focus fire dps'd him and killed the 2 ethereals at the end)

He dropped the Longstrider's Loop And i won the roll (64 hunter).

DPS classes should blow all their cooldowns at the beginning of the fight on the orbs because they do massive damage and down them. Once they are down the fight is easy. I think they are immune to stun and polymorph, sap, so don;t try.

During the fight he summons more orbs one by one. Just have DPS classes spam Tab so they can kill the new orbs as soon as they spawn.

we had a 65 war, a 65 fire mage, a 67 shadow priest, a 66 enh shammy and me, a 64 Holy Belfadin.

We wiped first two times, needed to repair, came back, wiped again (they pulled and I was drinking) and then on our fourth try we finally downed him. He dropped the ring. Not bad quest rewards either.

We had levels 65-67, 2 pallys (1 holy, 1 prot), a fury warrior, a rogue, and hunter. We wiped 5 times without getting the boss below 75%. We sent our tank in while we focused on the orbs-our tank died in 10 seconds, healer not long after, everyone else followed. We ended up dropping the rogue and getting a 70 warrior. Got the boss to 45% and wiped. Twice. I just hate all the posts saying how "easy" it is and blah blah blah.
We assigned orbs to each person, healer focused on tank and small heals to others, and it just didn't work. So it's not nearly as easy as everyone says.

Did it numerous times, and wiped each time.

Had 66-70. 70 Warrior (dps), 66 druid (tank) 66 Warrior(off-tank), 67 priest and 70 lock (me).

Tried killing the adds, and got Shaffar to 10%. Tried all out on Shaffar, and got wiped without causing a dent. Tried again on the adds, got to about 2% on Shaffar and wiped.

So yeah, it definitely isn't easy.

PS. Sorry to anyone in my group. I forgot your exact levels, but I know it is about right.

Pre-Pull:
Assign DPS to each of the floating spheres
Tank on Shaffar
Healer obviously on Tank

Pull: Shaffar will port around so, the tank will need to constantly move and gain agro.
The 3 Spheres will go down quickly and only do 100-200dmg.

Spheres become Apprentices that do 1,000+ Dmg so take care of them!

After the initial 3 are down, Every now and then 1 will spawn. Just have one of the DPS on watch incase one pops. Shaffar is pretty easy if those Spheres are taken care of.

His main damage is Frost/Shadow

If a spheres grows, it'll be easier to ignore the apprentice and use Crowd Control, if none is available just take it out.

He's not that hard on heroic, to be honest. I think Pandemonius is the hardest boss in heroic mana tombs.

I've killed him at least 4 times now. This last group we one-shotted him with a shadow priest, resto shaman, affliction lock, feral druid tanking (me) and a rogue who wasnt even really geared enough for heroics.

The key is taking as many of the 3 beacons down in the beginning as fast as possible. Then it becomes easier to deal with the apprentice's that spawn. I believe if u dont kill all 3 beacons fast enough, then the apprentices spawn more, or faster, or something like that.

Also, you dont have to kill all the adds. the priest simply aoe feared them, the lock would fear one, and we just dpsed the hell out of him. fight lasted maybe 2 mins max. Seed of corruption FTW!

yeah there were about 5-6 adds left when the boss died,(they don't despawn when he dies) and we were all low on health with no mana...so we wiped, rezzed, went back, killed the adds, and looted the boss. GG ;-)

We probably would have wiped without the shadow priest returning mana to everyone and vampiric healing everyone. To say "he's not hard" (the post above me) and to say you had a shadow priest is somewhat misleading. For long, mana-intensive and group healing intensive fights like this, a shadow priest is golden.

Even with the well-geared pally and shadow priest, he had to Lay-on-hands me near the end when he ran out of mana.

I suppose a warrior tank would find it easier (take less damage) with spell reflect.

We had a great group though, if you only have a single healer, expect to wipe on this boss on heroic a few times unless your group is fantastic.

Our strategy was to dps the adds as we could, and focus on the boss otherwise. I was able to tank about half the adds that were up at any given time.

Bringing a warlock would probably help a lot for the adds.

Pretty tough boss indeed however manageable. Great advice as per above, however... do not AOE! Ever! lol things just get really dumb fast when one or more begin to AOE.

Toughest part will be for the Healer as those who "should" be told to DPS which orb will need healing in between adds.

BTW, we four manned this on normal mode wtih 4 70's with some twinkish gear. Shadow ward and frost protection gear FTW and one shot hits to kill adds is also nice.

Tried this boss several times once been tonight, had a group of a 65 fire mage (me) a shammy, priest, hunter and a warrior. Tried everyones stratergy of killing the adds asap and tank on boss, just didnt work got him near half life and then wiped. Also done it with two 70s priest and warrior stil wiped. This boss is way to hard when the rest of mana tombs is easy.

I just finished this for the first time tonight. We had a 66 war (me...arms spec...some blues) a 67 rogue a 70 priest 63 shammy and a druid but i forgot what level (mid 60's). the first two times we wiped but we also had a 60ish priest with us. After he left the 70 came and we stomped the hell out of him. The previous strategies do work. I had a macro for everytime i saw a ball pop up and i think it helped a little bit. I had aggro most of the time, in fact i think i only lost it once. No need to be prot...although im sure it helps....just taunt and sunder the hell outta him and youll be fine

ok the first time we got to this boss we got him to 1%!.........then wiped then came back and barely got him to 50% then wiped again and again then the rogue left and we got a 70 warrior and destroyed him it was a 68 priest, 70 hunter, 69 pally, 64 mage (me) and the 70 warrior easy if u kno what to do and have the right classes

hard boss!

once he dropped me (64 warrior) in like 5 seconds
(2 spells from him and 3 spells from the adds)
the add DON'T do just 100-200 damage, their spells do 1500 and Nexus Prince spells are at least 1600
We tried him 4 times , members left, we exchanged for a lvl 70 mage and a lvl 70 priest - and still wiped... I hate him ;)

sometimes he is so easy though...was there with my lvl 65 shammy and we didn't have a problem at all

maybe it's just luck, if he spam casts you don't have a chance.

We succeeded with a challenging class mix. Different strategy required due to lower overall dps.

2 warriors 70 & 63,
2 warlocks 66 & 66,
1 shadow priest 67

The dps on orbs strategy didnt work for us as Shaffar eventually focused on the single healer due to early main tank heal aggro.

We focused on the Prince with chain-fear/terror on any adds that wandered too close to the clothies. Warlock pets did a decent job of holding off boss aggro, and we took the surviving adds down after Shaffar.

Things that helped:
Shadowfiend for mana restore late in the fight.
Major healthstone.
Shadow resistance @ 70%.
Mana/Health pots.

Wiped the first time as there was confusion as to which orb to kill when. Second time was cake. Our tank was 65 and didn't come anywhere near death. The trick is to get the orbs as previously stated. He doesn't hit too terribly hard. The party just has to be aware of the orbs when he summons them. The tend to zing around a bit. Once he was down he dropped the Ring and I was fortunate to be the only one who had any use for it. The Fel Hunter seems to be the best option for a warlock to summon.

Really simple fight, DPS focus on the three orbs...tank stay on the prince. Once the first three are downed the fight becomes your run of the mill tank and spank. He will summon more adds but they have very low hp so they can be easily burned down by any solid dps class. One of the few fights you can't blame wipes on the tank :) Keep the initial 3 close together and they can be dropped with a few whirlwinds form a dps warrior. Droppped a decent hunter/rogue ring.

Healed as a 63 holy/disc priest. Pretty difficult, as we had 3 63s (including myself) and 2 69s. Just couldn't keep the aggro off me, even w/ fade. Second time through we got him down to 2% before wiping. Never got to finish him, but the adds are annoying as hell...

Keep a bubble on yourself, and renew on everyone else.

BUT! going all out on boss is not an option if u have mostly melee , melee go clear the adds

Got this guy today, my first day tanking the mana tombs. Wiped the first time fighting him, but thanks to this board we got the pattern down fast and downed him the second time. Did it with

1 ret Pally,

1 Protection Pally, (Me)

2 enchancement shamans

and a priest.

The shamans took down all the orbs, the ret and I focused on the Prince, and it went down smooth.

Umm, yea im a feral druid and we had a warr tank, it was quite simple, the warr charge the boss, me and the rogue marked the balls and then raped them at the same time, if the balls changed into an add before we killed it i would feral charge it and tank it till it was dead. He isn't the easiest boss at some points no matter what people say.
It can be useful to have some sort of offtank incase the add spawns and the best healer for this instance and this boss is a holy pally because in general the party is going to take damage from time to time as the boss does frost nova.

Oh, and if you're the guy assigned to kill the balls i suggest pressing 'V' on your keyboard so you can see the names of nearby enemies cuz the balls have a tendancy to blend in with the boss saying that they both glow.

Did it again just a little while back and managed to wipe with a 70 warrior cuz our healer was a moron and i had to put some HoTs on our dps guys which then left a gap in the ball killing and wiped the group pretty dam fast.

Quite the nightmare on heroic. We tried a few ways at first, all of which involved killing the adds(beacons) but our dps just wasn't strong enough to kill them, the beacons on heroic have a serious amount of health. So after a few wipes we decided to go all out dps, had a warlock with instant howl of terror fear what adds she could and we were able to burn him down. We wiped to the adds of course there were like 20 of them, but we got him.

Warrior tank is probably ideal for spell reflect, I did it as a feral druid though and that does have a couple advantages. Can shift out of frost nova, and feral charge when he blinks away. A pally could use blessing of freedom on himself as well I suppose.

Also like another post mentioned above, if you have mostly all melee dps I would not try to burn him down and ignore the adds, unless you guys are seriously geared. He will nova all the melee and move away, you won't be killing him fast enough.

This guy is crazy. Funny story with him though. So a 70 resto sham, 65 warrior, a 65 &*!@#$% and 64 warlock and me, a prot pally 63, try to take him. The first little irk was that we were using a warrior with a 2H to tank all because I woulda got crushed. The second thing was that the stupid shaman didn't have ANY of his resistance totems. NONE OF THEM. And the final nail in the coffin(Auchidoun Ha) was that they dropped me from the group for another 70 with no warning. No discussion, nada, frickin' nothin'. So what do I do? Wait till the auto hearth brought me down to 15 seconds, Mana Tap him to the group, Bubble and LOL. Who says a pally can't down people quickly?

I wouldn't imagine this guy is soloable?

A feral druid guildy told me he can't be solo'd because (even if you stealth to him) upon engaging combat, the whole room aggro's on you.

Then again he's only got t4, whereas I have t5 and t6 (specc'd and gemmed for tanking). I wonder if I manage to clear the room I could actually solo him.

If you're wondering, I'm looking at farming that frost protection potion. I have all others but holy (don't need that, doesn't have a couldron so it's *!@#ing useless).

This is a REALLY hard boss we had to tries on him with a 70 tank warrior, 64 DPS warrior, 64 DPS hunter , 67 Mage and a 64 priets and we failed twice. SO we got a 70 pally and a 70 druid and we bairly killed him the pally had to use his pallyshield at the end.

Unless you are running a very high dps group with a druid tanking... you are going to want to kill the adds. Heroic mode, this guy will give you a good stomping if you do not kill the adds as soon as you possibly can. With ranged dps, this is relatively simple, and you should resume dps on the boss once you get the adds dead. Don't bother hitting them until they phase-shift into humanoid form. Cc-ing them is lovely if you can do it, but is not reliable because they will often keep coming and coming until you cannot handle the masses.

The other option of course, is to run with epic quality resistance gear... as long as you can mitigate the damage from the fire and frost, let him spawn all the adds he wants and stick on the boss.

It won't take more than a minute to a minute and a half before the adds get unmanageable in heroic mode. Normal mode is cake however you slice it.

I like how everyone talks about this boss being simple and easy but on heroic, omfg its ABSURD how freaking annoying those beacons get. They turn into adds after 10 seconds and have more than 5k health. its the BIGGEST pain in the arse i've ever seen on heroic mode.

Everyone in here has three tricks it seems!
- Hits the tank for quite a wide range of elemental damage, hitting fairly hard. Also tends to frost nova the tank in place and run back to shoot at him, no big deal.
- He starts out with three beacons around him, and summons an additional one every 10 seconds. These fire arcane missiles, and left long enough summon adds. They only have ~5k health tho.
- Blinks away from the tank every so often. He doesn't reset agro when he does this, so this just means people need to watch what is going on and be prepared to move to keep in range.

This fight is great fun! Assign dps to each beacon at the start, and get them down quick. After the first three are down, have 1-2 ranged dps on beacon duty to get them down as they spawn. Tank-wise he is fine, just be prepared to run all over the room keeping hold of him when he blinks. Everyone needs to be sharp here to react to movement and the new beacons!

Warlocks, do not let your group aggro this boss until you summon an Eye of Kilrogg and have him attack it. Make it move right into the middle of his shadow and wait. Maybe jump it a bit, whatever makes him notice it but not you.

The three beacons around him will vanish. He will still summon more, but they are much less of a pain 1 by 1 than three at once.

As far as I know, this still works.

He is a caster and has crazy high amount of HP's.
Abilities:
Frost nova (Ice in place) and Blinks away from the group. He will get a couple magic spells off while stuck in place. Casting can be interupted.
Summon Ethereal Beacon - The Ethereal Beacons if not destroyed will summon 1-2 mobs, with lower hp's then normal mobs but a painful distraction. When the fight is started he will summon 3, after that 1 will spawn at a time periodically. These need to be taken down ASAP and should be priority #1.

What to do: When you engage, your dps needs to down the Ethereal Beacons 1st. Once all 3 is down get on the boss. Anytime one is summoned, dps diverts its attention to kill that and getting right back on the boss. 1 rogue was sufficient to take them down quickly, but high DPS will be needed. We wiped over 6 or 7 times on this boss. Had to take a break to go repair. Endurance fight kinda similar to Jindo.

Received Major Frost Protection recipe and a head item that I simply cannot recall the name of, everything's running together. I did upload the information to Alla's via WoWReader so hopefully this will update.

Fight went a bit differently for us. Warrior and I (rogue) stayed on the Prince while our mage and lock AEd the balls. Shammy, of course, healed. I did require a healthstone, super healing pot and bandage to stay alive as shammy was concentrated on warrior. Shammy did a bang up job for being only lvl 62, quite impressive and the entire group lived. 66 war, 65 mage, 65 lock, 64 rogue, 62 shammy. +7 to Consortium faction per trash kill, +70 for bosses, +1 for mana leeches (I think that's what they were) and +10 for the demons of which the name escapes me atm. Lock was unable to enslave the demon for those who are wanting to know. =p

That's a Very brief summary of the zone.

I've done this several times now on Warlock and Rogue (Rogue has yet to see any loots from here, at all! :-P ). This fight I thought was the easiest of all, and that's coming from a Caster and a Melee DPS Perspective. The Healers didn't have much problems with heals, and one time it was a full shadow priest that didn't even Vamp Embr at lvl 65.

The main thing is to not let your Tank attack anything but Nexus-Prince Shaffar. Everyone else does one of these: "Ooh! Blob! Kill it! Ok dead... back to the Prince!" *insert /assist macro* "Ooh! Blob..."

Very simple, very easy, and pretty decent drops all around. I hope this helps.
